He was dangerous, but the real sin was mine.
Sinclair was my secret obsession.
The one I dreamed of in a homelife filled with violence and pain.
It was Sin’s darkness that saved me, wrapping its way around my heart until it beat only for him.
I helped him escape his island prison.
He asked me to leave with him.
But my mother is pregnant, and I won’t let another child be raised in that house of horrors.
The only way to free her is to betray the man I want and the family he’s creating.
Love is impossible when my only option is to sin.

--
Sin (Dark Island Scots, #2) continues the story started in Ruin (Dark Island Scots, #1). This is Sinclair and Lottie’s romance, so expect exquisite and seductive scenes, a plus-sized heroine and her much bigger hero, and an insidious mystery threatening our tribe of found family.

That was SINfully delicious 😌

The book did almost everything right. It's definitely a step up from book one and has far more action, character growth and plot development. The only thing that could have been done better was pacing. It felt a bit inconsistent to me.

Sin is by far my favorite out of all the brothers in this series since book one and he absolutely delivered. A grumpy man who only has a soft spot for his family? And how he takes in the role of a protector and leader? Hot. Yes please. Besides, his trauma was dealt with quite interestingly and he has a long way to go still. Lottie is his sunshine and I love the queen. She's a total sweetheart and I can't see how anyone can hate her. Her issues with body image and the conflicts were portrayed really nicely. It made her imperfect but also made her real.

Sin and Lottie make such a great couple. Like the yearning, angst, slow burn, and oh my gosh the spice. Y'all the chemistry was making me swoon. I thought last book was spicy? Oof, this one does it even better. I swear the man doesn't even have to say anything and he's sexy just by breathing. 🥵🥵

Already excited for the next one. There's so much happening. I can't ahhhhh 🤭🤭

Here for Sin and Sin alone... Wait, that doesn't sound right 🤔

A book with a plus sized heroine and the huge, tormented, protective Scot who would die to save her? Yeah, I’m in. Add in a dose of the hottest smut I’ve ever read (whoops my biggest kink) and you’ve got Sin, the second book in the Dark Island Scots series.

Jolie is a master in crafting characters that are full of life. Not a single one is boring or one-dimensional. I can’t help but adore every single member of this family, just like I did in the Marry the Scot books. This story is the best mixture of suspense and epic plot, but the biggest draw is the intimate connection between Sin and Lottie. They both have families to protect, but they can’t deny that they’re drawn to each other. More than that, they want to consume one another. Their scenes, smut or otherwise, left me absolutely wrecked and in love with them. I could scream for an hour about them, but I wouldn’t even begin to do them justice.

TLDR; I will continue to read everything Jolie Vines writes. And if it includes more big men becoming absolutely weak for their woman, even better.

Друга книга серії продовжує історію, яка закінчилась на напруженій ноті у першій частині.

Пара: Сінклер (Сін) & Вайолет (Лотті).

Тропи:

💚Плюс-сайз героїня
💚Вимушена близькість
💚Protective + possessive hero
💚Одне ліжко
💚Virgin heroine

Well what can I say. Another PHENOMENAL read by Jolie. I was hooked from the beginning and would of devoured in one sitting it’s that brilliant - just damn adulting getting in the way!

OMG Sin - I’m addicted to him. That mouth of his 🔥🔥, that body, the possessive grumpy alphaness of him is addictive.

And Lottie is super sweet, super loyal and love the bonds she has with everyone.

I’ve been laughing, swooning and been kept on the edge reading/devouring/living/breathing this book.

And Sin and Lottie together - pure fire!!

Reread: 5 stars

"For the record, you´re mine, too. If you´d left me, I would have come for ye because I´m entirely in love with ye. So take this as a warning - I´ll never let ye go again."

This is a two POV book, told by the POV´s of Sin and Lottie. The POV´s of Scar, Breeze and Henry get singular POV´s.

As already mentioned in my review of the first book, I love all these characters just so effin much. I would describe Lottie as mostly calm and collected. She likes to be a bit more in the background and to listen in. She cares deeply for the people she lives and shows it by cooking for them (which she loves to do) and taking care of them. Sin and Lottie fit each other perfectly in my opinion. He´s also more calm and likes to make a plan instead of charging into things head one. Though I´d say his calmness is more of a brooding and stern one. He also cares deeply for the people he loves and as well as Lottie, shows it through his action by taking care of them and protecting them. I´d say Sin is my second favorite in the series.

Regarding side characters I love how they are growing more and more into this little found family. I loved seeing Struan and Thea together in this one, as well as Cassie´s and Burn´s sister-brother-bond starting to strengthen. I love seeing glimpses of the Moutain Rescue boys throughtout, Max and Gideon. And I love how all of Jolie Vines series are kind of interconnected so they create one big world.

Plotwise this was perfectly done in my opinion. There are angsty scenes, we have action scenes and high stakes, paired with found family vibes, well done spicy scenes and great tension and chemistry between the characters. The pacing was well done in my opinion; there is a great mix of all the mentioned scenes while the book manages to move at a fast but understandable pace, that ups the stakes even more towards the third book. I love how this just doesn´t feel "solely" like a romance, but also has this sense of family, of belonging, of tragedy and of mystery to it. I can´t wait to read the third book in the series, I love rereading these.

Overall an amazing book that I loved to reread!

trigger warnings: domestic abuse (not caused by the love interest), death/loss of loved ones, sexual assault (briefly, not happening to MMC or FMC), physical abuse (not caused by the love interest), mentions of drug/drug abuse, mentions of illegal/forced prostitution
(What I love about Jolie Vines books is that you´re never gonna find the MMC acting abusively towards the FMC!)

Well shit, that was intense. Smut and a lot of action.

4/5 ⭐️ (we're using the smut scale for this)

4/5 🌶 It was gooood. And hot.

Contains plus size fmc, tall hot brooding mmc, breeding kink, hints of mommy and daddy play.

Also: violence, mentions of SA, murder, drugs

Wow! This series is well on its way to being outstanding!

"Every hair on my body stood on end. Every inch of skin came alive, burning for his touch."

Sinclair Stone AKA Sin is on the run with his family having escaped their imprisonment on a remote island. The only person missing from their crew is Violet Hunter AKA Lottie, the girl who he has been fantasising about for a good year; the girl who refuses to leave with him. He's bitter but focused on keeping his family alive and safe.

Lottie was desperate to leave with her friends, but she refused to leave her pregnant mother behind, in spite of the abuse she suffers at home. However, when she's forced to make an impossible choice, she finds her way back to Sin and the others. Bone-deep desire wars with distrust, as Sin and Lottie fight for even footing, while danger is closing in on them.

"If I do this, you're mine. No going back. No running from me. No betrayal. I won't give ye up. You're mine to do with as I please."

Told mainly from Sin and Lottie's POV, this story also features the voices of some of the other characters, giving us a rounded view of what's happening to our fugitive family. This story was HOT AF!! 🔥🔥Sin is a great big hulking possessive alpha, while Lottie throttles her virginal inhibitions completely. I loved how he craved her and how his desire for her helped her shed her image issues. Aside from their combustible chemistry, this story totally captivated me. I was absolutely hooked and completely invested in the outcome. I loved the dynamic that was evolving amongst the group. Everyone had their part to play but Sin was undoubtedly the head of the family. Secrets are uncovered and more mysteries are introduced. This story was raw, dark and intriguing. Honestly, this series so far is just so amazing and gripping, and I can't wait for the next book!

The story immediately picks up from where Ruin left off so you have to have read that book before picking this up.

The execution and the writing is better on this one as there is a lot of focus on Sin and Lottie.

While I thought Lottie and Sin’s love story would be easier because they already liked each other since the first book, their traumas and their past have been a big hindrance to them coming together especially for Sin who found it hard to trust Lottie after what she did.

The spice is off the charts and Sin and Lottie’s kinks were 🥵🥵🥵 These two reminded me of Connor and Everly from Connor’s claim. Love me big burly man with her small curvy love.

Holy huge cliffhangers book friends!!

This is book 2 in The Dark Scots series and it picks up right where book 1 ended. This is a continuous storyline and must be read in order! I would also advice you to read Max's story from Wild Mountain Scots series as we are introduced to Struan in that book leading us to the Dark Island Scots. ( it's not a deal breaker if you don't but you'll thank me for introducing you first to the Wild Mountain Scots!!)
Anyhow the Dark Island Scots are definitely that.. A darker read, tormented and horrific things are done to these boys solely bc of being born or bc of greed! I loved the connection, loyalty and family these characters have made! I hated how some characters showed how horribly disgusting humans can be and treat one another just because they feel they're deserving of something even if its never theirs to claim! How the old saying "money is the root of all evil"! Well it definitely is in these books! It saddens me to know this is true in the real world as well!
Sin and Lottie are perfect for each other and I adored seeing Sin finally get his hea with Lottie if not in other aspects of his life! He is head of this family born from greed, abuse and manipulation and he takes his responsibilities seriously! Together they bring this family closer to finding out all the secrets that had originally imprisoned the boys on the Island. The majority of adults/parents in this book are pieces of $π•+$! They are horrible human beings that never deserved to be given the privilege of having children!
So... dark drama, violence, greed, abuse but also family, friendship and love make up these books!
If a Darker romance isn't your taste head over to Marry the Scots, Wild Scots or Wild Mountain Scots. All are amazing reads and lighter in nature but brilliant reads!
Scars book is next out in November so we'll have to wait a few months to uncover more secrets and I'm sure more unanswered questions will arise!
4.5 stars!! Jolie Vines is an amazing author who builds worlds that don't read as books but that you tumble into like Alice down the rabbit hole and become ONE in the story! Free with K. U. ✌

SIN (Dark Island Scot book 2) I highly recommend you read the first book “Ruin” before reading this one because you will understand it better
I don’t know were to start with this review, I loved loved loved this book so much, I enjoyed every second of it, and the best thing was that the book picks up exactly where the first one ended.
It exceeded my expectations, The book was full of surprises and twist, and that some of them I did not expect them. I had so much fun reading. And don’t get me started on the spiciness of this book they were chef’s kiss.

Sin I love this man, i loved how protective, possessive and sweet was with Violet.
Violet I really want to give her a hug she so sweet and always thinking of everyone else before herself.
Sin & Violet they are so sweet together and I loved the chemistry between them.

As soon I finished this book, I was already thinking I need more. And I can’t wait for the next one.

Sin (Dark Island Scots #2) by Jolie Vines is a new adult romantic suspense told in first person from multiple points of view. It’s the second book in a series with a continuing storyline, so it ends with a cliffhanger. Picking up where the previous book ended, the story explores the relationship between Violet “Lottie” Hunter and Sinclair “Sin” Stone, as it follows Sin and his brothers’ escape from the dark island while they run from Lottie’s father who leads a manhunt for them. Most of the story is told from Lottie’s and Sin’s perspectives, but there are six other character POVs of one or two chapters each.

I enjoyed Sin and Lottie’s story. I liked them both as characters, but found it difficult to trust Lottie for most of the book. It seemed like she could betray the brothers at any moment, and I didn’t understand how Thea could be such a fool to blindly trust her. As a result, a large part of the story had me rooting for Sin and his brothers, but I couldn’t root for Lottie. This series has a large cast of characters, and I’m enjoying getting to know them. Sin (Dark Island Scots #2) features a plus-sized heroine and an alpha hero with a breeding kink who are on the run together with his family. Action, twists, and secrets abound. I’m looking forward to more answers being revealed as the story continues in Scar (Dark Island Scots #3).

Book: 3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Book 2 picks up where the first book ended. It seems like each book is divided by each character finding/ securing their partner, but there is a conflict that continues throughout the entire series. Very plot driven with terrible (as in dark and despicable) characters. However, the protagonist in this one is a lighter shade of gray. As in the first book, Sin is portrayed as the protector and epicenter of the family.

This book is delightfully twisty, dark and steamy and will hold readers captive until the last word is read. This book picks up right where Ruin left off, though it focuses on Sin and his story. Sin is the protector of his group, his family by blood, shared experiences and by choice. A tall behemoth who has a tender centre he diligently hides with his gruff, rather rude demeanour, Sin would give his life to protect all of those whom he has claimed as family. As the book starts, he believes that the woman he has become obsessed with, Violet or Lottie as he calls her, has played him and family. When she turns up later with Thea, Struan’s girlfriend, he is positive she is up to no good. As the saying goes, Sin keeps his enemy, Lottie, close. As in glued to his side and in his bed close, ostensibly so he can keep her from betraying their whereabouts or calling in law enforcement. He doesn’t give the smitten Lottie a chance to plead her case or to reveal her devotion to him. They both succumb to their fierce attraction, though neither will admit to your feelings, or their obsessions. Time, dangerous circumstances as well as Lottie’s actions and quick mind serve to prove her loyalty to Sin and his family. But they are all still being hunted, and demons from their pasts are determined to resurface and haunt them. Their journey forward is just as harrowing and twisted as their pasts, at least for the foreseeable future.

Though the characters in this book may appear to be broken and damaged, they all have an inner strength and resilience that is admirable and inspiring. Their stories are proving to be rather addictive and I can’t wait to read Scar’s story next. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Ummm wow.. this book seriously had me on edge the whole time. I had a love/hate relationship for this couple. I loved them so much but I also hated them. And not in a bad way. They had so much past trauma that I hated the way they were to each other at times. It was when they stopped fighting their feelings that I stopped hating them.

I hated that they couldn't trust each other at first. I hated that Sin was so aggressive with Lottie. I hated that Lottie refused to tell Sin the truth. But I loved that no matter what Sin still wanted to take care of Lottie. I loved that Lottie wanted the best for Sin and his family.

I loved that we got more of Straun and Thea. I loved watching their love shine. I liked seeing Scar grow, Burn find a bit of peace, and Cassie find her family. But the drama that happened. The way things went done. So many questions hanging in the air.... aghhh. This series, this book! It will reel you in and leave you hanging, waiting for more. I need to know what happened. But I'll be patient. My answers will come in due time. They will all find peace and happiness and I'll be happy too. Looking forward to the next book! ❤❤

Before I get into my review, can I just say how much I LOVE this cover???? Most of the time when a romance cover has a photo, it fails to match my mental image of that character. Not this time. This guy IS Sin.
So... it's no lie that I am a Jolie Vines fangirl and could not WAIT to get my hands on this book. (THANK YOU for the ARC)
Even though I loved Ruin (because hot headed, angry, possessive men apparently do it for me), Sin kind of stole Struan's thunder a little bit in that book. I was a little hesitant about this couple, though because I wasn't sure about Lottie. I loved Thea for Struan. I wasn't sure I'd get there for Sin and Lottie.
Oh ye of little faith. I should stick to reading and trust Ms. Vines to do what she does best. This book was perfection. Hot as SIN. Seriously, Lottie and Sin burned up my Kindle. A lot of the time in romance, I kind of roll my eyes when there is a lot of drama but the couple still tears up the sheets. Like, your baby sister was kidnapped by the mob and your mother is threatening to lock you away and your lover was just shot in the chest... but hey, I'm hot for you so let's have sex.
I didn't get an inkling of that feeling with these two. Their romance was definitely a focal point, and I adored how neither of them could keep their hands off the other. The pull between them was magnetic. The sexy times were extremely hot, and none of the timing of them was unrealistic.
There was so much going on in this book, I wouldn't even know where to start writing a more specific review. I found myself holding my breath as the pages turned. I was scared and entertained and mad and turned on and upset and in love.
I have fallen hard and fast for Struan, Ruin, Scar, Burn, Cassie, Thea and Lottie. This little ragtag family is the definition of unconditional love and loyalty. I want to wrap them all up in a protective bubble and just give them some peace.
I was a caught off guard when Ruin ended in a cliffhanger, but reading this book, and knowing there are more stories to come, it didn't bother me as much because it was expected.
These dark island Scots are young and wild, but they will steal your heart in a second.

I’m wrecked. Jolie Vines and her cliffhangers… they always hurt.

I knew I was going to love this one. Sin and Lottie’s story was honestly one of the reasons I even picked up the Dark Island Scots series in the first place. Another big reason was Burn. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d fall in love with all the other characters along the way.

The spice? Perfect. Exactly what the story needed, and Jolie never disappoints. And I just adore how she keeps weaving in fresh twists that make every single book impossible to put down.

Now I’m beyond excited to get to Scar’s book—I know it’s going to ruin me in the best way.

Wow, this is wow. I have tried for two days to find the right words about this book. What I can write without spoilers and get you to read it…

So here we go: Dark, spicy, a bit kinky, lots of love and family.

If you think Struan ( in Ruin) is a alpha male. Then Sin is a even bigger alpha mail, the family provider, dad and big brother. The one to hold on to when it rains. He’s big and brooding.

Lottie (Violet) is a PLUS SIZE heroine!!! 😍😘😍😘 I love that!!! I totally get her! She is relatable to me!

This is the second book in the series about the dark scots. First book is Ruin. If your gonna read this then read Ruin first. For two reasons: 1) You Will love it! 2) You Will have a hard time understanding lots of things in SIN.

This second book in the Dark Island series is even darker than the first. Sin and Lottie are heated the entire time, his brooding distrust of her fueling their fire. And when they give in…explosive. I am usually not a big fan of dark romance tropes but the plot in this series draws the reader deeper into this underworld in a way that flows seamlessly. I’m hooked, all in for the ride and anxiously awaiting Scar’s story next. 10/10 recommended for fans of slightly forbidden, a touch of taboo and twists in the plot that keep you guessing.

Wish I could give half stars cos this would be 3.5 tbh.
The boys are free of the island and living life on the run with Thea, Lottie and little Cassie to protect. They are still being hunted tho and discovering more enemies along the way.
Sin has his own score to settle while reeling from his conflicting feelings for Lottie.

Sin is quite simply PRIMAL, he invites you to sin with him with a crooked grin and dirty talk. It's dark, sexy, gritty and growly. Our hero hated the fact that he wants her so bad when he can't trust a word coming out of those lips. The same lips he can't stop thinking about!

And Lottie is the most ordinary girl, dragging herself out of some awful situations, thinking of everyone else before herself.

This book is the book you have been waiting for, Jolie never disappoints! 5* Dark Scot Fun :)

Oh my!!!! Every time I think I can't love any character more than the last, Jolie proves me wrong! Sin and Lottie have stolen my heart. I'm loving the family dynamic in this series. Soo good! Race to get this series, you won't be disappointed.

Sin is the most alpha male ever. He is the family protector and he takes that job so seriously. He's drawn to Lottie but isn't sure he can trust her.

Lottie is so attracted to Sin, but can she betray him to save her family or is he the family she's been searching for without realizing?

The chemistry between these two is so amazing. I literally could not put the book down.

Received an Arc for my review. Holy shirt balls. I love Sin. I love his alpha male, touch her you die attitude. Lottie is so relatable. Curvy goddess who had been told to hide her body because she’s plus sized. The spice in this book is so different from Jolie’s previous series and I love what she is bringing in. Picking up right where Ruin left off and took of running, literally. Sin doesn’t trust Lottie, but he cannot resist her.
