While reading Broken Chords there were a slew of emotions that were totally unexpected. There were moments when tears were close and other times when a smile was at hand as the characters dealt with insecurities, past mistakes, forgiveness, and love. This mystery was an enjoyable read with lots of twists and turns throughout. A fun read!.

This was a romantic mystery.

Tina Crawford works as a chef and assistant manager at her friend Ivy's Cosmic Cafe. She wants to but into the cafe as a partner. She has been estranged from her rock star father for ten years. She decided to accept his invitation to a 9 day rock cruise at the urging of her best friend and her therapist. Her ex boyfriend Ian is on the cruise also his band is the opening act for her father's headlining band.

Ian Buchanan was a child prodigy in music. His father has pushed him to have a classical music career and teach music theory in college. Ian chose to pursue his love of rock and is lead singer of Bad Opera. They get a big break being asked to open for rock legends Eclipse on a cruise. His father pushed him to date a college professor and then paid for her to go on the cruise.

Tina meets K. C. Anderson at the tiki bar. K. C. is a cook in a diner. They hit it off and try to do things together on the cruise. Strange things start happening to Tina and her father Chad - a par light almost lands on them and takes out one of Chad's bandmates, a threatening phone call, a slashed publicity photo, etc. After a band hanger on and former friend of Chad's is murdered, Chad is the prime suspect. Not Smooth Sailing This Time . . .

Chef Tina Crawford has lots of problems as she heads into this cruise. The most prominent is trying to sober up before she begins to deal with her issues. She will need a cool head with everything that is about to happen.

While trying to reconcile with her father and deal with an ex, all while remaining sober, unexplained accidents start to occur and a murder needs to be dealt with before Tina also becomes a victim. The reader will enjoy following along on this mystery with all of its twists and turns. Will Tina find the killer in time?

Suspense and Intrigue keep you guessing until the end. The characters have flaws and quirks that make for interesting reading. Like the location of the story being on a cruise ship where there's nowhere to go and everyone has to be confined on that ship. Makes for very interesting reading.
