He lost his job, his wife, and his house. Rick was down and out. For ten years he bounced from shelter to shelter, from bench to bench. All Rick needed was for someone to take a chance on him so he could get his footing again.
Then he met Abraham.
Abraham gave him a place to stay, food in his belly, and an under the table job. Rick was thankful. he finally felt needed again. Having money in his pocket felt even better. The more difficult the jobs Abraham gave him, the more money he received. Rick was willing to do anything (even something unlawful) to keep the money flowing.
But then something changed the dynamic of the entire house and Rick realized Abraham wasn't who he said he was.

I have always been a lover of words ever since I left the womb. I began writing as soon as I could form sentences. Writing was my escape into new worlds while I was growing up. I have always been influenced by the horror and romance genres.
You're homeless on the street after your life basically going down the drain. You have an affair and your wife leaves you, your job sacks you etc and you find yourself down on your luck and living on the streets. This is Rick's life. He gets by by scrounging bagels out of the bins behind his favourite cafe but when an older gentleman presents him with an offer he can't refuse, he nearly takes his hand off in acceptance.
Abraham has Rick work for him- at first just little things, taking him into town until the boundaries of right and morality become blurred. Just what would you do for money? Does money indeed, make the world go around?
Some fun gory scenes but I would've loved for it to have been a bit longer.
So I liked this book I was presently surprised I do think that the story actually could benefit from being a bit longer so that when shit gets real it's more of a shock and I do like that it's third person but I feel like first person would've hit harder with us in his head feeling how he was feeling however I'm just nitpicking I did notice that it didn't seem to take much to do it like when he told him to make the other guy punch him that wast that bad then he told him to go sleep with Lea and to make her if she didn't want to yea $$20.000 is a lot but he had already accumulated a shit ton of money and he could have just left but didn't The greed of it all. Luckily there are like 5 more so I can't wait to read them all.
Greed unfolds like a cinematic experience in my mind, following the anticipated trajectory of how greedy someone can truly be. The narrative revolves around an unfortunate man lured into under-the-table work by a wealthy individual, with each task escalating in intensity and price. The story explores the protagonist's limits and the crucial question of when he'll finally draw the line or if he will continue completing the tasks. This engaging tale provided a captivating escape during my toddler's nap.
I wasn't to sure how I was going to like this short story but I loved it. Even though it was short the plot of it keeps you hooked. Homeless guy get an opportunity of a life time and that is where the plot thickens. If your looking for a quick read I recommend this one.
This was really good! There was a a good bit of suspense with a compelling story. I kinda had an idea how it would end, but not exactly. There was a mention of sexual assault, but it wasn’t described in any detail, thankfully. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series. FYI: you CAN read this as a stand alone book.
What would you do for money when you have been homeless on the streets. DAMN, this book takes a turn! Very well written that kept my attention until the end. I always end up not liking novellas because they are so rushed, but this one was GREAT for only being 72 pages! Onto the next!
I loved this. The things people will do for money are insane and the people with money are just as insane. I liked that it was fast-paced, I loved the plot twists.
