You see, my close friend Astra Grey just delivered a healthy, bright-blue baby boy in the best medical facility of Zirconia. The first baby with both human and Dragan blood flowing through its tiny veins. That’s not the problem, that’s the good news.
No, the bad news is the debt. The soul-crushing, absolutely massive debt that we’re now in. Turns out the Zirconians want to get paid for their trouble. An extortionate amount. And they don’t take dillian, either.
No. They take me.
And they throw me into the fighting pit as a prize to be fought over.
Their strongest gladiator claims me: The legendary Yvar. I’ve never met a man who terrifies me more than the scarred, bloodthirsty warrior…
But I need to trust him completely to survive in the Zirconian fighting pits.
He says he’ll help me escape, but the gladiator looks at me like he wants to get me pregnant...
The couple of this book are the best so far THANK GOD i mean what a palate cleanser after the last book.
Maybe in comparison to that they seem even better. Well whatever.
Still had some real fucked up stuff.
Again with the rapey aliens i mean ffs. I dont care if its a fucked up system theyre in its not a good romance read setting when every book has rape or really skeezy men at best as the plot line.
Im not a fan of this couples initial so injured his blcked out delirious which the author used in the last book to be super rapey this one felt less so since he was awake and was the instigator and she actually made sure to be like dude youre brained right now are you sure etc. Now even then people can make any decisions needing consent operate heavy machinery etc in such a state whether they say yes or no but compared to the last book and the whole imprisoned as a gladiators sex slave concept its more fitting at least so it doesnt feel so forced or i guess icky is a bit lol but yeah i mean im not hopy with it but its one of those things you tolerate like people circumcising their infants idgaf if that pisses you off either so dont comment cause noone cares and youll mever convince me cutting off bits of babies genitals for anything other than an emergency reason is acceptable.
Yvar? Anyone he was vool af character on his own awesome dude clearly ditched the emperors bs for areason which we never got that chat unfortunately but yeah hes the best so far. And frankly feels like idk whos next rylee and the probably the same race just a different colour enemy for no reason dude or dura and the drake dude maybe? Or maybe even though theyve not mentioned them at fucking all since the first books brief wrap up the other humans on the ship could be a new group of both dragon and them but eh anyway i just hope they with their medical equipment wont decide to be dumb bums and end up endangering people needlessly idc if she was giving birth they couldve hovered over the place and dealt with it if an emergency came up they couldnt handle not before or for anything less. I mean wasnt one a medic human if i recall correctly? I mean jesus weve legit heard fuck all from freya about her job initially but im pretty sure one of them had some med stuff and frankly all of them wouldve had basics even the dragons would have some basic first aid no matter how well they heal. Anyway that was early book one so yeah who knows either way is that was dumb and felt forced. Plus we didnt even get to really see or soend time in regards to the baby or astra being a mother or any cuteness that wouldve made it somewhat worth it i mean they couldve made freya the godmother maybe the fish dicks couldve said theyd take astra since she can clearly breed or rylee or something and freya coulsve volunteered to step in so they were safe and woulsnt all be captured etc and idk i feel lik that wouldve been better and then her holding the baby at the end with her new mate and hes wearing the clothes she made and yeah idk some cute woulsve been nice i mean especially since she was in the situation because of the whole birth scenario ffs.
Anyway depending on the next books blurb/couple i may read it or just skim the parts that involve the overarching story and ditch the rest... either way i think i might take a break from alien mates ive not read RH in what feels like years tbh and the whole one usually meh dude and lack of romance etc is really sapping me.
If you read one book from this series so far read this one.
Wow this book was amazing and I loved all the characters old and new and the journey they share in this book and the new life that brings them all together. Commander Try and his mate Astra are expecting a baby and he wants her to give birth in the best place where the technology is so advanced that nothing could go wrong and Astra goes into labour and they land quickly on the planet Zirconian but what they don’t realise it’s going to cost them more than they could imagine. Yvar is a Dragan male that protects the weak and finds himself chasing after a ship with innocents on board but he is too late and everyone was killed except for a young boy he saved who was so sick so he came to zirconian to save his life and the payment for this treat was to fight in the pits 10 times and his debt would be paid and that was 10yrs ago and still has 2 fights left. Everyone is excited about baby Ajax being born but it soon turns ugly when the payment for there help is Freya herself not the money and now she is in the pit when two warriors must fight till the death for her as the prize one is so scary and scarred all over is Yak the other one called him and the other she has seen before as the champion Yvar who’s pictures are everywhere and out of the two of them she hopes Yvar wins and in the end he does now she is his. Yvar new something big was happening when he seen the female in the middle of the pit and when Yak told him all things he was going to do to her then eat her he new he had to win but Yak was just as good as him in the pits and they new this day would come and that only one would leave the pit. It was a hard fight with lots of blood spilled but Yvar was the victor and so the girl is his. There is action, drama, suspense, betrayal and evil enemies and in this horrible place mates and love, so how does it all turn out for these two and can Freya’s friends save them both or not. Brilliant book
Written in third person by LUNA HUNTER, Yvar is the 3rd book in the ASTRAL MATES series and follows the Dragan warrior Gladiator Yvar and his human mate Freya Poulsen.
Honestly, this series is painful to read, but I'm apparently a glutton for punishment. The author is an amateur, and it shows. Not just in the many grammatical errors, but in the overall character building and story development.
The book is short, so at least a lot of valuable time isn't wasted. I've always been a firm believer that a romance novel needs to have intercourse before the 47% mark. Anything after that is dangling the cheese for so long that it molds and is no longer edible. No one reads a romance novel for the adventure. Sure, some may "claim" that to be the case. But those people are liars. We read them for the raunch. Plain and simple. And you can tell when the author is inexperienced in the subject they're writing about.
It's like writing an essay about volcanoes. But you don't actually know a damn thing about volcanoes. So instead of doing any actual research, you write about "hiking" because you've hiked Mt. Shasta and Mt. Shasta is a volcano. I get that same vibe in these books. I mean, the effort is there, sort of. But it's just... lacking. Lacking character development. Lacking relationship building. Lacking unique visual layouts. Just LACKING.
Uniqueness is another failure. I cannot count how many alien novels I've read that surrounded gladiator games. We need some way to force these two characters together... oh!.. how about we throw them together in gladiator games? And make them slaves with unfair rules and disadvantages. Purrrrrfect. That hasn't been over-played at all.
This book made me laugh. Mostly at the author's expense. I wouldn't recommend this series, though I'm probably going to read the rest. Like I said... a glutton for punishment.

So much action going on in this book! I loved the way the action and tension steadily increased with this book. Freya had been just a side character, even though she was questioning her third wheel status for a while. The aliens reminded me of the animated movie with the big-headed alien bad guy and his fish in a mechanized suit assistant, but the Zirconians were truly evil, I want to see them get toppled someday, lol. Yvar was on a hero's journey of sorts but was snared by them. I loved the way Freya and Yvar came together. The gladiator fight scenes were imaginative and gruesome, and I loved each and every one of them, lol. I was glad that Freya got her story, and I hope that there will be more in this series so we can maybe find out about the Turlian and Rylee, and maybe continue with some more adventures. Fingers crossed that there will be more books in this series!
I loved it! The last of the human females to find a mate, Freya sure deserved her HEA and she got that with her beloved Yvar. Captured as payment for a debt, thrown in a gladiator pit as a prize life could have been much bleaker and dangerous had Yvar not stepped in. With a chance to win their freedom things were looking up. But treachery stepped in to capture Yvar and two friends. After that betrayal I wasn’t sure how they would all get out of it but the human females came up with a glorious, ingenious plan! Never underestimate a female in love!
Yvar, a ferocious and strong Dragan, is summoned to the fighting arena and sees a defenceless and terrified and human, Freya. The Zirconians who have the best medical facility have safely delivered her best friend’s half Dragan baby. The debt’s payment was not what they expected. The duplicitous Zirconians took Freya. She is to be used as a prize in the fighting pit. A brutal and deadly experience is instore for the reader yet there is hope. Really enjoying the overriding story in this series although each episode is complete.
This is a book that proves evil is found in places even That take care of you. The people who can save your life can kill you or still your life. It teaches you to be weary. Everyone should be weary Especially of you government. This book shows you That you can find love almost anywhere. Even when you don't expect it. I highly recommend this book is a wonderful Read You should read the whole series there are all good books.
will there be a book 4?!? i really need to know what rylee and her torian are up to, and what dura and drake may do! i enjoyed freya's tale, and hate, hate HATE those zirconians! LOL!!
Very interesting and intriguing. Had all the good stuff worth reading. Hot Aliens,(who love their human women), trouble, not so nice Aliens, heroes, human women ,( who love their men,) and Happily Fever Afters.
Yvar is a fantastic, exciting, quick read. Yvar and Freya’s romance has everything: adventure, treachery, gladiators, might, heroes, lust, heat, sweetness, and success of the underdog.
Astra was very close to having a baby and the Zirconians had the med tech. However with the Zirconians there is always a catch and Freya was it. She was the prize for the fighter who won and Yvar was it. Other than the grammatical errors I recommend this story.
I’m amazed by these books. Such complete stories in short little books. Quick & complete. I love it. The characters are good. The romance is sexy. The story is good too.
I loved this story. The characters were interesting. The action was continuous, which kept the story moving right along. There were no dead spots in the story.
Again, a nice quick steamy read. I like that these are quick but could have also been so much more if it was a longer read. Loved the gladiator concept.
The story was alright, but the formating was absolutely horrendous. It was a third person pov but simultaneously switched the pov without notice. One moment we're seeing what happens with Freya and Yvar, and the next paragraph we see what Harper is doing for a few sentences, and then back to Freya and Yvar... it felt very disorganized. Also, not quite sure if you know what a soul mate is, but it's not someone you pick by choice because you just like them... so the concept of them being soulmates without anything to point to why that conclusion was made is weird.
Overall this book felt like it was just trying to pull a story without any real thought about the actual telling of the story. After all, majority of the battling of writing a book isn't the story/plot its the WAY you tell the story.... and this one kinda failed miserably
