By day, she’s her boss. By night, something naughtier...
Isabel Diaz’s post-college life couldn’t be better. While relationships have always proved elusive to her, she’s finally putting herself out there on dating app Darkest Desires. Plus, she has an amazing job leading the graphic design team at a hot Seattle startup.
But everything changes when the startup is sold off and Scarlett Black takes over as CEO. Scarlett is just as ruthless as her formidable reputation suggests. But there’s something mysterious about the icy older woman that draws Isabel to her.
Scarlett Black has it all. The oldest daughter of Seattle’s wealthiest family, she’s been groomed to take over the family company and is engaged to the perfect man. Yet her picturesque life isn’t what it appears to be. And at night, she escapes that life as her seductive alter ego, Dominique.
When she encounters a woman on Darkest Desires who is seeking the same escape, things heat up between them. But little does Scarlett know that the woman she’s having an anonymous liaison with is her young employee. And Isabel has no idea that Scarlett and Dominique are the same captivating person.
As their sensual fling escalates, tensions rise in the office. It’s only a matter of time before their real identities are exposed and both women are forced to confront their true feelings.

The cover is terrible but this Kindle Unlimited story is okay for people who enjoy some kink. I'm pretty vanilla so I probably shouldn't have read this but I thought since I enjoyed the series' first book, there was a chance of me liking this too. Plus I was intrigued by our main character, Scarlett, who was a side character in Book 1. I like elegant women with power and Scarlett fits the bill as the heir to the Black Diamond empire and she's a lot more put together than her sister, Parker.
Scarlett leads a double life and in the secret one, she's a dominatrix called Dominique. Dominique develops an online entanglement with a submissive called Beauty which eventually leads to a physical one. In all fairness, the kink is probably good by most people's standards. But it was a bit too much for me so I skipped some pages here and there though it was difficult to avoid. I also found it hard to relate to online relationships, especially one like theirs that is of a sexual nature, and struggle to understand how strong romantic feelings can develop in an anonymous setting.
The more entertaining aspect of the story for me is that Beauty is someone known to Scarlett in real life and even works for her following a corporate takeover and it was interesting to see how the two parallel relationships eventually converge.
An enjoyable read, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. It had all the elements I usually love—age-gap, ice queen, workplace romance—but for some reason, it didn’t fully grab me. Isabel and Scarlett made an okay pair, but I kept expecting that “aha” moment where everything clicks, but it never really came. It’s a solid story, just missing that spark that makes others in this genre stand out.
You’ll know what to expect if you have read books written by Anna Stone or Hildred Billings; steamy scenes are a given, possibly kinky, and BDSM...wouldn’t be surprising if it's being written in. if this puts you off, then the book is not for you.
Now, what draws me into reading The Executive Liaison is Scarlett Black, the stoic lady who has everything put together, the eldest daughter of one of the wealthiest families who is groomed to take over the company, a fiancee (a man at that) to whom she has been engaged to forever. Little did we know that she has an alter ego, a Domme aka Dominique, seeking company with women who enjoy being submissive. Along came Isabel, one of Scarlett’s employees in a new company that was recently bought over where Scarlett is the CEO. What follows are Dominique and Beauty (aka Isabel) meeting online through Darkest Desires, having an online (sexual) relationship and subsequently a physical one without knowing the real identity of the other person. When their real identity came to light, I thought the I❤️U came a bit too rushed but for my liking. Having said that, I still enjoyed TEL, and dare I say more so than Book 1.
I think I put a lot of pressure on this book, I loved the first one of the series, and I was super anxious for this one, but it's not as good as the first. Anyway, it's really good to keep following the black sisters, in this book, I kind of felt like Parker is not the same woman i got to know on the first book, she's different, I don't like it The chemistry between the MCs is amazing, but the love.... idk, I didn't feel it, it was too rush, too unbelievable, it could be better.
Anna Stone never disappoint on the sexy moments, I love the kinky side of her books, and for that I give 4 stars. As I said, I think I put a lot of pressure on this book, I was expecting too much and maybe, because of that, I couldn't enjoy it fully, but anyway, it's a good book.
This is the second in the Black Diamond series. Scarlet Black is Parker' older sister. She is the golden child. Her father has groomed her to take over when hr retires. So it is up to her to handled everything and be perfect. For years she has had the perfect fiance, but it is a farce. Scarlet 's alter personality is Dominique. She is a Dominant wanting to find her sub. Isabel works for the company that the Black Company just took over. Scarlet has to cut cost or sell it off. They feel an instant connection, but do nothing about it. Isabel has always wanted to connect with a Dominant person to see what it is like. Can they find a way to be. There is some hot steamy scenes. Some romance. And people becoming who they need to be. The Black family is high maintenance and very interesting. Looking forward to the next installment. I did receive an ARC but these are my own thoughts.
What can I say? Anna Stone is an ace at the sexy writing. Reading this series out of order (gasp!) because this blurb appealed to me more. Sexy chemistry, but something held me back from fully falling for them. Still a nice, quick read!
This was an okay read. I have to be honest, I liked the first book better. But I still enjoyed this one, specially the chemistry between the two MCs. Can’t wait for the third one!
If I had forgotten how hot a book written by Anna Stone and Hildred Billings could be, then picking up The Executive Liaison reminded me quickly. I listened to Abby Craden’s narration and let me warn anyone who likes to listen on their morning commute to work in a bus/train full of strangers – be prepared to get a little hot under the collar.
Ice Queen Scarlett Black has a reputation for being ruthless, but under her façade, she knows something important is missing from her life. When she takes over a small start-up, intending to turn it into a profitable business, she meets Isabel, the head of graphic design.
Initially, Scarlett thinks little of Isabel, and Isabel is convinced Scarlett is the bitch CEO everyone says she is. When both women inadvertently meet using pseudonyms on a dating app and begin a secret relationship, it isn’t long before desire and lust lead to deeper feelings. When true identities are formed, Scarlett and Isabel must decide if love can break down the barriers keeping them apart.
There is a lot of kink/sex involved in the two women getting to know one another, and it’s written well, while still giving the reader a dose of character development with the two MCs learning the give and take of such a relationship.
The Executive Liaison is book two in the Black Diamond series, and it’s always pleasant to get to catch up with past characters from previous books. Parker from The Girlfriend Arrangement, along with Julia, makes a guest appearance, with Parker being Scarlett’s younger sister. Don’t miss either book in this great series!
Such a HOT and loving love story! Isabel is the head of graphic design with the app Connect. A start up that's just been sold to the Black Diamond Company. Scarlet is the new CEO of Connect. And has a reputation of dismantling companies. Isabel hasn't had a date in awhile and checks out the dating app Darkest Desires. When she gets a hit, that intrigued her. The two women start communicating with Dominique being the domme and Isabel the submissive. This is an age gap/workplace /HOT love story with light BDSM ! Definitely at least 5 stars!
I have to say there is a streak of angst... you know, they separate and try to get back again... it's kinda old and hetero and I think it was unnecessary here because it prevented my favourite kinda-angst.... THE OFFICE-ANGST. That stuff is toxic but potent. And there was already angst with Scarlett being in the closet and all the pressure from her parents and work.
I didn't like Alexis one bit, she had a big mouth on her. Rude woman.
I was indecisive about book 3 but I really want to read Viv's reaction when she finds out that Bianca is gay as well. Oh my days.
The Executive Liaison by Anna Stone and Hildred Billings is a sweet-and-spicy workplace romance that hits just the right mix of charm and heat. The premise is instantly engaging: Scarlett becomes Isabel’s new boss after her family buys the company, which already sets up plenty of power dynamics, but the twist is that they unknowingly start connecting on an app and develop a Dom/sub relationship outside of work, which adds a fun layer of tension as you wait for the inevitable “oh no” moment when they figure out who the respective other is talking to. Watching that unfold was easily one of the best parts.
The side characters bring plenty of humor to break up the steam, and the character development feels genuinely satisfying, everyone grows without it being heavy-handed. The pacing is spot on, and the writing is smooth enough that it’s easy to fly through in a day.
It’s light, fun, and has some very well-written spice scenes that don’t overwhelm the plot. If you like workplace romances with a bit of kink and a lot of heart, this one is definitely worth picking up.
okay so straight out the bat this is another 'older ice queen boss and young impressionable employee' bdsm romance which can always make me a bit apprehensive but in this one they actually meet on an anonymous dating site and start dating/an online d/s relationship before they know who the other person is until quite far into this book.
one think that really struck me about this book was the autism representation. there has been some really good disability rep in Anna Stones book before but it still surprises me every time because i am so used to it being bad elsewhere.
they talk about being late diagnosed due to the misogyny in diagnosis and struggled with feeling gullible and like you can't trust anyone because you always take people at their word and how vulnerable that can feel especially in d/s dynamics.
i also love that they do not belabour her diagnosis, but i would have liked it if her autism was actually written into the story more rather than just lots of pointing out she wears noise cancelling headphones and nothing else which is obviously not what being autistic is like. it affects every aspect of your life including your thoughts so it could have been more important to the story outside of that one scene.
but as always i adore the spice in these books. even all of the unrealistic bdsm stuff, it's just so exciting and gets me blushing every time. i also love that they explore different kinds of dynamics in each book because it really shows an understanding of the Scene.
i loved the 'instant attraction, can't keep our hands off each other' chemistry in this book more than anything else. the writing really convinced me it was real chemistry and not just like two characters being forced together.
As you would expect from two of the best lesbian romance writers, this book is good. It has it all, very good writing and a plot to keep you engaged all the way through. Interesting leading characters and a HEA. More of Scarlett and Isabel please. Would highly recommend.
2.5 stars. I was in the mood for a palate cleanser after reading a lot of fantasy, and this seemed like just the ticket. I read this series completely out of order, and I figured this was a good time to finish it. Unfortunately, this is my least favourite one so far? These are contemporary sapphic romances following a trio of sisters from a rich and influential family. This is Scarlett's book, and it's the most kink focused and the most wealth focused, and neither of these things were handled in a way that I love. It has a kind of hidden identity trope; Isabel and Scarlett meet on a kinky online dating website, without realising that Scarlett is Isaebl's new boss. It's hot, as all the books in the series are hot, but I wasn't all that compelled? While I did like the chemistry between the two characters, Scarlett as a domme just felt really cheesy and stereotypical to me. I did like Isabel (when she wasn't being a bootlicker) and I enjoyed her exploration of her desires and submissiveness. Some parts of the subplot were really annoying to me; any time a book tries to make me feel sorry for rich people, my hackles start rising. The book tried to talk about wealth with supposed nuance, but it fell flat for me. And otherwise, I can't really think of much to say about the book. It truly wasn't all bad. The parts that I liked, I really liked, but the parts that annoyed me, really annoyed me. The conflict was very predictable, and there were just certain conversations that I wanted to see these characters have that never made it on page.
Listened to the audiobook as ready by Abby Craden, who was great as always. I'm glad that I finished off the series, at least. I started with book 3 and I could have honestly stopped there; it's still my favourite.
Sexy CEO energy, forbidden vibes, and delicious tension in AND out of the office. 🙂↕️
Scarlet? Effortlessly hot. Like, “please ruin my career and call it mentorship” hot. 🔥 Isabel? Pick-me queen. I rolled my eyes and still rooted for her - growth. 💁♀️📈
But let’s talk about Dominique and Beautiful Dreamer… that anonymous, high-stakes flirting? DELICIOUS. The tension had me kicking my feet like I wasn’t listening to full-on emotional warfare in business casual. 👠💼
And the smut scenes? CHEF’S KISS. 👩🍳💦 At one point I was scrubbing the sink and had to stop because things were getting entirely too steamy for a sponge moment. Like ma’am, this is Medix and rubber gloves, not candlelight and lingerie. 😳🧽🔥
The forbidden office love trope was done just right - sharp dialogue, glances that carried weight, and just enough scandal to make you feel like you shouldn’t be listening… but you do anyway. 👀
So why not 5 stars? I wish I knew. Maybe it needed one last emotional hit. Or maybe I’m just stingy. Either way, I was fed.
If you love a power play, characters who roleplay like their careers depend on it, and spicy scenes that catch you off guard mid-cleaning… this one’s for you. 🎧💋🧼
This book didn't grip me as much as The Bodyguard Affair (the third instalment in this series), since I felt the romance was quite a bit rushed... I've enjoyed Scarlet's character but I feel like my expectations might have been too high for this one. It just left me wanting more and wishing the book was longer to leave room for a better paced buildup.
This book felt faster than usual, perhaps because I read it faster...or perhaps because Scarlett just doesn't mess around. The authors created a character who finds what she wants, makes a plan, and gets to it. Staying true to her character, she doesn't waste time with drawn out miscommunications, or pining away. She has an emotion, she processes it, then she tackles whatever problem faces her. It's refreshing in a character and it's relatable for me personally. Now, the other half of our couple is an excellent example of how to write a neurodivergant character without fetishizing them. There were plenty of fetishes in this story, and it was thankfully free of harmful ones. Did the misunderstanding/communication trope get used? A bit, but it wasn't done to death and didn't drag out frustratingly, instead it worked like misunderstandings do in real life...it got talked out and worked through. The dating anonymously while unwittingly crushing on each other irl was freaking adorable and hilarious. I usually love these books, but I can't think of another by these authors that made me laugh so much! The humor was subtle and built slowly, even as the sexual tension flared and grew rapidly like wildfire. The main and side characters were really interesting, and just the right amount of book one bled into it as book three was set up.
3.7 stars. Anna Stone, somehow making me gayer since 2022.
Firstly I was so stoked that they included an autistic MC, this is something we need way more of and to get rep for this in a spicy WLW novel is rare as heck.
This was another really solid read from Billings and Stone. I’ve never read a Hildred Billings novel but will now be sourcing them because this was an awesome read.
First of all this is an age gap tale, Izzy is 23 Scarlett is late 30s. It’s also heavily BDSM influenced but is fairly vanilla (ish) nothing that wild.
We’ve got the boss/employee and vague bossy dom/ sappy sub tropes that I am WEAK for.
This was just an entirely hot read to be honest. If you’re looking for some sapphic spice you can’t go wrong with this one.
My only dislikes was I was a little bored with Scarlett’s family’s plot. I do feel it’s a little similar to stones other novels Dom’s backgrounds.
The bdsm in this though was slightly different to Stone’s prior novels, I don’t know if this is due to Billings’ writing but it was a refreshing change. I’d love to see them explore more in the BDSM sector.
TW’s// please skip if you don’t want spoilers as may contain vague ones:

I absolutely love Isabel's character. From the second the book started, to the ending, I adored her so much.
I also loved Scarlett's growth in this book - in the first one, we see her just through Parker's lens, but in this book, she really comes into her own.
The way Isabel and Scarlett start their relationship as Beauty and Dominique was pretty much perfect for them. It gave them the getting to know each other, and those exceptionally hot scenes, too.
I loved this one more than The Girlfriend Arrangement, purely for the fact that Isabel and Scarlett's chemistry was off the charts. *fans self*
