After barely escaping with her life, Ashen finds her way home to the Arc, thanks to the help of an old friend. After a long absence, Ash isn’t sure what she’s about to find. The Bishop’s deception and cruelty have turned her world upside down, leaving her reeling as a wedge is driven between her and Finn, forcing them to live separate lives. Worse still, when she arrives, she is faced with the challenge of proving to the Arc’s leaders that she’s telling the truth about all that has happened since she left home. As she fights an impossible uphill battle, she must confront betrayal, lies, and heartbreaking loss that will either lead to her vindication or her ultimate downfall. With enemies vanquished, alliances solidified, and old friendships renewed, the end seems near for Ash in her final battle against tyranny… Or is it? Reign is the fifth and final book in The Cure Chronicles Series.
K. A. Riley is a writer of speculative and science fiction, dedicated to creating worlds just different enough from our own to be entertaining, intriguing and a little frightening all at once. For Riley, writing isn't a job. It's a laboratory where readers can wander into a land of ideas; it's a playground where they can scamper around, giggling, gasping, and freaking out to their hearts' content.
Riley is the top-secret pen-name of a NYT and USA Today best-selling author.
The series should have ended after book #3. The last two were tedious and redundant. If I hadn't pre-ordered the entire series, I wouldn't have bought them.
What happened to Rys? Was he replaced by an 85 year old soul in a replic? You kids go on and have fun now? You crazy kids? Where did this character development come from? He would never just say trust me over and over to Ash. He wouldn’t talk like that. The way that the series of events just magically work out without any information on the events going on… it just seems like the author got tired of the series and “phoned it in”- which is heartbreaking to me. The rest of the series was magnificently written with so much detail and developed characters. This unfortunately just didn’t measure up to the other books in the series. It was ok. I finished it. But, gosh, the dedicated readers deserved better. The characters deserved better too.
Wow. Well this book series was definitely not what I expected. If you think that this series is a story about a girl with a troubled past who must learn to change herself to survive as I did... think again. This book series practically defines, tear jerker and I found myself scared to get attached to the characters. Every book starts off in a different setting with a new enemy and more characters, yet it keeps the same plot throughout all five books. Definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The only two things I warn about is the surprisingly amount of violence and that the books almost stumbles across the line of PG-13, I found myself either scan reading or just skipping until I personally felt comfortable (which everyone has different opinions) I woundnt define this book series as a must read but if your looking for a longgg series that is romantic, emotional and a thriller.... The Cure Chronicles could be next on vour list I
This was the best book of the series. Watching Ash finally grow away from her men. And become her own person. However I call into question how everyone just ‘knew’ about it being wrong Ash. Even children. And feel the last 60 pages were a tagged on waste to the HEA. It should have been developed as another book/short story. There was not enough time to feel connected to what was happening before it was over. Dropping it to a 3 star from a 4 for me.
This series is really an emotional reality. With our political leaders and conspiracies I could see some of this series being truth. But, the ending made me cry. This books had a lot of ups and downs. Never knowing what was around the next corner
This series started out with so much potential but so many interesting plot points ended up being brought up then never talked about again or quickly resolved while I enjoyed the fast pacing it was not cohesive enough for me to enjoy it overall. I ended the series with more questions than I originally had and towards the end of the series the books got very repetitive. I’m glad it’s over but I hope the author can improve on her mistakes because like I said a lot of good ideas but they just weren’t executed well
Good YA series. I'm glad I read them, they overall kept me reading. I enjoy the writing style and display of emotions. I plan to share this series with my 13 y/o daughter!
I hung in there to finish the series and see how it ended for Ash. It felt like a throwaway: anticlimactic, mediocre, meh. I’m actually a little angry I invested so much time in the series for it to end this way. Personally, it wasn’t enough of an epic final battle for any villain’s defeat in a dystopian series. It wrapped up too quickly into a neat, happy, shiny, perfect bow in the span of maybe 10-15% of the book. I feel cheated.
And, I know dystopian means an alternate reality, but it’s still related to the world we live in, and that world is flawed. It all felt so forced.
So sad😭 for this terrific series to end. I loved all the characters, especially Atticus, as well as the plot twists and storyline. This final book wrapped up all the loose ends in a very satisfying way and I very much look forward to reading more from this amazing author.
This was my very first time reading a dystopian book. From the moment I picked up the very first book in this series I could not put it down. Not only is this series really well written, but it is written in such a way that you feel as if you are right by the main character, watching it all unfold. I could feel the anxiety in my own body building as Ashen went through everything. I felt myself smiling when she had her moments with Finn. This book, no, series was great from book 1 to book 5. Book 4 was a bit of a slow burn, but was necessary for the reader to know what happened. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a romance and dystopian tied in together.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 5th and final in the Cure Chronicles and ends in an HEA. Rhys and Ash hide in the Arc, trying to avoid the robot Ash and get to Finn. The Bishop seems to have bamboozled everyone. I love all of the robotic devices that Rhys has available. The romance is ramped up a lot due to a wedding and a fade to black honeymoon scene.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. There is no explanation as to what is next, for the Arc or for Ash and Finn. They have to work or go to school or something.
The final piece of a long tumultuous journey for Ashen Spencer and Finn Davenport! This book is amazingly written with amazing dynamic characters and a wonderful world that drew me in.
“If we don’t try to savor the small, shiny points of light that flicker in an otherwise grim world, we’ll all lose it.”
One of my favorite quotes from this book. This shows Ashen’s strength in an almost unwinable situation. All the books are amazing but it was a perfect ending to the story!
This final book was a great finish. The ***Spoilers*** This book was action packed and full of surprises. I loved how Finn and Rys developed a plan to defeat the Bishop. His take down was epic. Also the ending of the Duchess was incredible. Who knew that when it came down to protecting Finn that his father would decide to bring down his wife. Great ending to this book!
The perfect ending to one rollercoaster of a series! KA Riley perfected the end of this series, and still kept me guessing. Just when I thought the happy ending was happening, everything went to hell. The ingenuity of the planning the main characters did at the end of this book was completely unexpected and perfection! I loved the ending, but am sad it is over. Good thing she has so many other books to choose from!
I was honestly leaning towards 2.5⭐️ bc I had enough of Ashen constantly saying she just wanted to get back to Finn. Hello! The world is hell in a hand basket and that’s you’re biggest concern? I know…she’s 17 (almost 18), but she’s also supposed to be the hero. However, the last third brought it to 3⭐️. First third was annoying, middle third was meh, and final third was decent. I liked the ending. Very bittersweet.
3 stars. 3. After a long adventure filled with perpetual troubles the story finally ends. Honestly it could have ended three different times in this book alone as well as two books earlier. But for those that have to have complete closure, this will do it for you. Peace out, Ashen.
Like every "the world is ending" book, I wanted to know more about how the world would be rebuilt. Hopefully the author will give us a "where are they now"? Until then, enjoy the book. It's good. It has a lot of twists and turns, all of which are satisfying.
My quickest read out of all the books in this series, and maybe my favorite. Overall, a pretty interesting young adult, dystopian series. There were some additions to the story that seemed far fetched, but there needed to be some more spice to the story. A happy ending is predictable, but also surprising with how the series has gone. Overall happy with the read!
books 4 and 5 weren’t at all necessary and i felt like they tied a few loose ends but added too many complex details to the overall plot of the series
honestly this series was just an easy summer read for me so i could say i read smthn light and non academic, but i wouldn’t necessarily rave about it (espec 4-5).
The perfect ending for Finn and Ash. The part about the duchess felt a little rushed but left you very satisfied. I love the way that the duchess was killed by a blade that came from the duke. Very ironic. Ten out of ten would recommend. I love that it has appropriate romance for a younger audience but still has a mature feel. Overall a great dystopian novel!!!!! 100% Team Finn

SPOILER: honestly the last part in NY with the mom was unnecessary. It would have been better to expand on the takeover from the Bishop because that was confusing and rushed, and pretty unrealistic (with the little explanation provided) given the build up about how nothing escapes the Bishop. This was the reason I docked a half a star
This series was really great. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the characters. One of my fav was Artemis, I know crazy right. I enjoyed the ending and how well the author wrapped it all up.
SOOO MUCH ACTION and of course many times where twists and turns grab you unexpectedly….and BEAUTIFUL moments of bliss and deep emotions of characters interwoven…..LOVED IT!!!!
What a great series! Really loved it. Although, I always expected Ash and Rys to end up together in the end. I’m glad it’s over because it kept me up most nights because I couldn’t put any of the books down hahah
Wait. What. The. What. That just happened. I don't know that I've ever read a more twisty twisted twists of twists. Seriously. I loved it but in this case, I am so glad the series ended. ;-)
This book was so good. I couldn’t put these books down. There is so many twists and turns. The characters are so believable. I definitely recommend this and all the books in this series.
There is no other way to explain it. The book, the series, everything was just beautiful. It's definitely one of my new favourites, and definitely another favourite author.
Good, solid book. Main issues I have with it are an over-stressed love triangle throughout (true for the whole series, by it's not terribly distracting) and a very abrupt and brief final battle.
