I like taco's, but it didn't make up for the fact that they copied dogman

Remember that this is my opinion. Everything I say is based on my own thoughts, and we may all disagree on something.

Okay, let me explain. *Max Meowz* is one of my favorite book series, mainly because of its charming character arcs and neat storylines.

But this book, by far, has bugged me the most. I consider it the lowest in the series. So let me begin with the highlights.

The second half of this book is genuinely great, especially when they go to a changed timeline. It is a concept done well. Trash Panda is the best character introduced here. I would talk about the other strong parts, like the villains and the climax, but it is hard to focus on them when they are surrounded by so many negatives. Again, this is my review and my opinion only. Feel free to disagree.

First off, the characters are not likable. The best stories I have ever read have their own strengths, but one of the most important features they share is well developed characters. Sometimes they are relatable, or they grow from their mistakes. Max Meowz usually does this well. In the first book, Max Meowz learns how to be smart. In the second book, the characters learn that no one is perfect. In the third book, even the villains grow. But in this book, the characters do not have arcs or relatable qualities for the most part. This would not be a problem if the characters were not so unlikable. An arc could have helped them a lot.

Max Meowz is practically just there. He does nothing special besides being the protagonist. Mindy Microbe simply exists. She loses her memory and becomes a billionaire, I guess. Agent M had a character arc before, and he grew into a mature mouse, but unfortunately he is ruined in this book. He gets abducted by a Batman parody and becomes the new hero Stinky. I feel bad for him. All he ever wanted was to be a pro golfer, but no one lets him become one.

Now for the story. The story is something, I guess. After meeting some robot abominations, Max has to rescue Science Kitty’s father, who is trapped in time, and also deal with new secret identities. Then Agent M returns and ends up with two new costumes.

This is the part where I really need to express how I feel about the book. The backstory of how Max Meowz met his best friend is included. Max was a boy scout, but he gets scolded because he admired reporting news. Then Mindy’s family arrives, some funny accidents happen, and Mindy’s console, which she is addicted to, breaks. She then reads a book very quickly and suddenly discovers her love for science. It feels rushed.

Then the Time Turtle, the twist villain, appears and the time wave battle begins. This part is actually cool, and Stinky even teaches the moral of the story. Everything is saved in the end, and Elvis Presley dinosaurs squash the villains. The end.

In short, I do not like this book very much. There is nothing bad or inappropriate in it, so I think anyone can read it. If you want to read it, feel free. Just remember, this is my opinion, and you can agree or disagree.

Max and Mindy have to use the Taco time machine that Mindy's father sent them to find and rescue him from somewhere in the time stream. But the Time Turtle doesn't want them to succeed, and messing with the time stream may mess up their friendship and Agent M's future. Can they pull off this rescue without the world being invaded by Elvis-impersonator dinosaurs?

This is a wild and crazy little time travel adventure for our superheroes, but it has a good message. That even though hard or embarrassing things may not be pleasant, they often are a catalyst for growth and we wouldn't be the same people without those experiences. It's important for kids to learn not to run away from hard things, and that's the message Mindy and Max (and Agent M) get across. Of course, it is wrapped up in all the bright, colorful, and zany trappings as are normal for a Max Meow adventure.

Notes on content:
Language: None
Sexual content: None
Violence: There's a run-in with a bad guy but no one is seriously hurt and only robots or dinos get punched really.
Ethnic diversity: Mindy is Black. Other humans have a variety of skin tones. Max is a cat.
LGBTQ+ content: None specified
Other: Agent M's brother wants him to be a criminal, but he chooses a non-criminal pathway instead.

4 stars (I really liked it).

This is a cute series and the newest installment is just as good. Being a DeLorean owner, I loved the Back to the Future references :)

This one had a good message about not changing your mistakes because you learn from them and they help you being the you that you are (kind of like a kid version of The Midnight Library).

My only thing with this series is that it seems like it's trying to copy the Dog Man series and, for some reason, there is just a little part of the magic of that series that can't be replicated. I still plan to buy this for my library though!

Fun, fast-paced, time-travel comic with a great lesson: "We can't change our mistakes, but we can do better! And sometimes bad things can lead to good things." (Not in the sense that it's OK to do bad things but more like God can write straight with crooked lines...)

Bonus quote from a dinosaur version of Abraham Lincoln: "You can not evade the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."

Some skunk stink power, but otherwise free of potty humor.

Max Meow is the 4th installment in the Max Meow series. Max and Mindy go back in time in a time machine shaped like a taco. Readers of Max Meow and Dog Man will enjoy the silliness and laughs in these graphic novels.

A good book, but it was a little confusing. How did the dinosaurs get there?
