**This contemporary New Adult romance is intended for readers 17+. Contains adult content, language, and situations.
Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves of all things romance and adventure.
That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
Becca Daniels doesn't know what she did to to end up where she is. On the day she lands a huge account, her boyfriend proposes. It is not unnoticed, especially by her best friend, that he doesn't seem to be right for her in fact he is everything opposite of what Becca is. However, Becca decides to accept and when she is told they are spending their wedding doing a triathlon she has to face her greatest fear swimming.
Liam Caldwell is focused on taking care of his mom who is sick, he doesn't have time for anything else. However when he has his initial meeting with Becca he can't help but appreciate the beautiful woman, he just didn't realize she was one of his adult swimmers. Focus is Liam's mantra around Becca, when she is white knuckling the edge or afraid to blow bubbles in the water, even when she wraps around him holding on for dear life, he tries to focus, but she is adorable.
Becca finds herself torn between following her heart or allowing her fiancee to run her life. Will Liam fight for her though when Becca needs time to understand which path she wants to choose?
Very fun story. I loved this one and could totally relate to the swimming fear. Becca is quite hilarious and I loved her best friend Van, she calls it as she sees it. Liam is a heartthrob, he is magnetic in personality. Look forward to more books from this duo.

This is a sweet contemporary romance and I found it an easy read.
Becca Daniels has just been given the promotion of her life at her new job. On the same day she becomes engaged to her boyfriend who also happens to be a big shot in the sister company. This leads her to question did she get the job with his connections. She also questions if this is the right decision in both areas of her life, after all if her fiancé can’t get the ring right then how much does he really know her? He certainly doesn’t know she can’t swim so why he is pushing her to have their wedding and honeymoon which includes taking part in an Ironman contest? Surely this is another sign they are not ready for marriage now, if ever?
To try and control one area in her life, she signs up for swimming lessons, but on the way there to the swimming pool she has a bump with a guy on a motorbike. Sparks fly and she shoots her mouth off but eventually dashes into the pool area only to find out the hot guy she nearly ran over is none other than her instructor!
I liked this light hearted romance and Liam was a loveable character to fall for. He does not have a good relationship with his Olympic trainer father after an injury to Liam’s shoulder put him out of the race for the Olympics many years ago. Liam feels he has been constantly blamed for ruining his father’s dreams ever since.
I must say Becca did frustrate me with her over thinking things especially around her fiancé even after she broke things off with him to make a go at a relationship with Liam. She still let him control her and push Liam aside. This further imploded on Liam in that he felt he was rejected again by somebody he loved and feelings of not being good enough as he couldn’t compete with the rich guy. Oh but my lovely Liam there was no competition you won hands down all the way!
I have not read either of these authors before so this book was a good introduction. Four stars.
This book was awesome!! I loved it, and want more. Becca works in marketing for a sportswear company, her new fiancé Holden also works there and is successful. Holden tells Becca that he wants to get married in Hawaii so they can compete in a triathlon, which includes swimming. The only problem is that Becca can’t swim and is deathly afraid of the water because she almost drowned when she was little. Becca decides that if she learns to swim, she can at least be around water without freaking out. Becca’s new swimming instructor is Liam, who is a great swimmer and just as Sexy! I just loved how Becca and Liam first met! The more that Becca is around Liam the more she questions her relationship with her fiancé, Liam seems to be everything that Holden is not. I could not read this book fast enough, it is wonderful. It has it all, humor, romance, and of course sexy Liam. I would love to see more of the characters in another book! A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
First I was: psssht, this bride is getting on my nerves, because pushover. Then she redeemed herself by getting a backbone. But then she was back again at being all indecisive and considering taking the douche bag ex back and totally not appreciating the good thing she had going. And then she came to her senses. I loved her BFF, Van, she was keeping it real all the time. Hope she'll get her own book, she deserves a HEA too. Anyway, this was well written and a fun read.
Becca life is going just great. First she has a job project that seems to be causing her grief with her fellow colleagues. Then her boyfriend proposes to her in front of said colleagues. Howden, the fiancé has now gone ahead and arranged their wedding and honeymoon. The honeymoon sounds like the honeymoon from hell. It incorporates an ironman triathlon and poor Becca can’t swim. Needless to say she decided to go for swimming lesson with the incredible hunky Liam who she nearly kills before they even hit the water. Liam becomes Becca friend and she cannot help the attraction she feels for him. She finally realizes it is Liam she wants and not Howden. When she breaks up with Howden, he decides to play dirty. This story was cute, entertaining and fast paced. The characters were likeable (except for Howden). The authors delivered a cleverly crafted story. I found myself completely enamored with their writing and the cast of characters. Not to the mention, the great innuendos, the witty banter and the feels all intertwined with the suspense. Overall, a really good and light hearted romance. Hot Books & Sassy Girls Blog
Becca Daniels is new to San Diego. She moved here to work for Dive Sportswear. She doesn't feel comfortable with the California life style. Now that she is newly engaged to Holden and scheduled to do an Ironman on her honeymoon, she decides to take swimming lessons. Little did she know that this would change her life. Her instructor, Liam Caldwell, is kind, gentle and patient. He builds her self-confidence and touches her heart. Their attraction is hot and immediate. He makes her feel important and loved. She knows in her heart that Holden doesn't love her - only himself. With her engagement broken, should she risk her heart with Liam? This story is touching and so romantic. The characters are well-written and realistic. Both Becca and Liam have insecurities that they need to face if they are to find the love that they desire. I love Becca's feisty attitude and the way that she looks at life. Liam is a keeper. What a wonderful man! This story has it all love, laughter, joy and pain. The collaboration of Nana Malone and Misty Evans is a success. I was hooked from the first page. Hit & Run Bride is a wonderful story that left me with a smile on my face.
Man, that is one whiny main character, I didn't know if I wanted to laugh or strangle her.
Your boyfriend (that you don't really even love) proposes to you in front of a bunch of coworkers and you say yes (even though you don't really want to) and you hate the ring and he doesn't listen to you and he's trying to tell you you can't plan a big wedding right now and should go to Hawaii because you're both so busy and he's not listening and you whine and bitch that you want him to listen to you and you want your big princess wedding thing and he's not listening and blah blah blah.
YOU DON'T EVEN LOVE HIM!! He doesn't love you, you're just "convenient". FFS just speak up and break up!! Also, you're clearly not into that fitness shit...SPEAK UP. You DON'T have to kill yourself!
I just finished Nana Malone & Misty Evans' "Hit & Run Bride" and it gets 5 Stars from me! Becca and Liam's story is a must Read! The plot was on point and the characters' chemistry oozed from the pages from beginning to end. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop until finishing the book in its entirety. Great job Nana and Misty!
Becca mouth is just humorous. Her and Liam just click with one another. I am not a fan of Holden, who would have thought he could be so manipulating that he would twist his words when it came to Becca.
This book was in my library since 2018, so I decided to read it. I did not like Hit & Run Bride, Book #1 in the Hit Wedding Series by Nana Malone and Misty Evans. The writing was quite improved from Nana Malone's other book Sexy in Stilettos. Except for the male protagonist, I was so annoyed with this book.
Fashion Marketing Analyst Becca Daniels is insecure and immature when it comes to her image and needs. She keeps fooling herself about her boyfriend being good on paper. Due to her hang ups, she does not realize that maybe her choices are not fulfilling and are leading her into situations that cause unhappiness. Not the best of characters.
Swim Instructor and Previous Olympic Hopeful, Liam Caldwell has a heart of gold. Currently, he is dealing with a difficult situation, and has taken a leave of absence from his job as an Architect. He gives of himself by training inner city kids and fearful adults. HIs plate is full with his responsibilities. However, a curvy and curly haired swim student may change his mind about his priorities.
All I ever read Becca doing was lying, cheating, and being dishonest. Her behaviour and thinking throughout the book was inexcusable. The supporting characters added more fuel to the fire. There were too many villains and very little support. As a female protagonist, she was so exasperating. However, since I really liked Liam, and his upstanding nature, I needed to know what happened. The sex scenes were fine and enjoyable. The premise with swimming was unique, but other than that, even the depicted situations felt unbelievable.
I think Misty Evans saved the book slightly with the writing style. If you want to put your brain in neutral and not have to think too much about how people can be like that or how these types of circumstances don't exist (except for what Liam was going through), then you might like this book. I wouldn't waste my time.
I cannot believe it took two people to write this. I was boring and the heroine was an unlikable dishrag. The heroine has no spine, the fiancé is annoying and one dimensional, the new guy is blah.
Becca is engaged to Holden because she's wishy-washy and said yes to a man she didn't really want in the first place. Holden gives her a gaudy ring she hates but says nothing about.
He also has all of these plans for their wedding that she hates, including that they join the Ironman competition on their honeymoon. Instead of telling Holden that she doesn't want to do Ironman or eat gluten free cardboard and stay at a health craze spa for her wedding, Becca starts swimming lessons secretly. Ya know, so Holden doesn't find out she's afraid of water.
It's YOUR Honeymoon! You have right to tell him no to things you hate!
Meanwhile, she's getting "private lessons" from Liam and making out with him while still engaged! Becca could have at least broken up with Holden before she started with Liam.
Becca has no idea what she wants. The fiancé who looked good on paper or the swimmer who made her feel "alive". Several times she was on the verge of going back with the ex-fiancé, once because of her job.
The fact is, she doesn't know what she wants. Holden is a self involved dick. Liam is vulnerable because his Mother is I'll seel, and lonely. Honestly, I didn't see the chemistry. They had a lot of talking and dating to do before they could honestly declare love. They barely knew each other.
Liam is a rebound. She was too confused for them to make a real go of it and he was too needy. I give them a year.
Becca gets engaged to Holden because it makes sense on paper. Since Holden wants to go to Kona for the honeymoon and compete in the Ironman, Becca has to learn how to swim. Liam is her instructor and she runs into him in the parking lot on her first day of class.
There's much more to the story with Becca figuring out what she really wants, job drama, and Liam's issues with his parents, but ultimately it's a sweet romance.
That is what brought Liam & Becca together. Becca's ex fiancée decided their while wedding around the wedding & honeymoon in Hawaii for the Iron Man. One big problem. Becca is deadly afraid of swimming and water. Can the swim instructor do more than teach her how to swim.
The storyline was solid. Not many unanswered questions about where, what and why. It's simple discovery of who you are and what you do not have to accept. The backdrop of utilizing swimming lessons was unique. It was an appreciation of how one conquers their fears and get back to their core.
This was a quick read. Becca is torn between her fiance Holden and her swim coach Liam. Torn, until she figures out that Holden doesn't really want her, just the idea of her. Unfortunately Holden doesn't take losing lightly and Becca's insecurities push Liam away.
To me, the ultimate theme was believing in yourself and find someone who compliments and supports you in all your endeavors.
Cute, funny, easy to read. The main character seemed very wishy washy and I just couldn't love her...just wished she had a backbone. I did enjoy the banter between characters which did make me laugh out loud at some points. It is an easy and delightful read.
Love this author. Just sit back in a lounge chair, add a glass of sweet tea and enjoy a sweet love story. Spoiler alert!....Yes it ends just the way you want it to but the in between is deliciously fun reading!
Hit and Run Bride by Nana Malone & Misty Evans is a 2014 Beach Path Publishing release. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a great love story! A hit and run accident brings together two people who are both dealing with heavy issues and gives them the courage to grab true love and happiness despite having to step off the beaten path to catch it.
Becca has a new promotion with a company she doesn't really enjoy working for. Her boyfriend, Holden, proposes and has big plans for their honeymoon and their life together. But, he gave her a hideous pink ring and the honeymoon will be all about what HE wants to do and swimming might be involved. The problem? Well, Becca doesn't know how to swim. In order to be ready for her honeymoon trip she signs up for adult swimming lessons. Seems like a great idea. But, Becca's luck runs a little like mine. She rear ends a guy who turns out to be her swim instructor.
Liam is a trainer and doesn't just give lessons. He scouts possible Olympic hopefuls. His own dream of being an Olympic swimmer died after a physical problem sidelined him. It also caused a rift between him and his father who had pinned his hopes and dreams on his sons.
Curvy, sexy, Becca has Liam thinking about things other than swim lessons. When Becca explains she is in a hurry to become a fast swimmer they begin working overtime. At the same time Holden is being a jerk by insisting the wedding be planned by someone else because they need to train for Kona. But, as Becca explained, she wants to plan her own wedding like every little girl before her. As she tries to get Holden to bend just a little bit, she starts to see holes in the relationship and she finds she is developing a serious crush on her swim instructor.
When Becca finally wakes up and smells the coffee she does what she knows is the right thing to do. Liam is the guy for her. He's mature, patient, giving, and not only does he listen to her, he HEARS her too. But Holden isn't about to lose the game and won't give up without a fight, and that might mean a dirty fight.
Both Liam and Becca are dealing with poisonous relationships and find comfort from one another which leads to a real love match. But, problems still exist. Holden is a very manipulative person and knows just what to say and do to get under Becca's skin and keep her confused. Becca has a few moments where she waffles under the pressure from Holden and the help he can give her with her job , and the security that she would have with him,and he swears he will change. ( How many times have we heard that line?) Liam has lived under his father's constant insinuations that he is a loser and his confidence is not at an all time high sometimes so he tends to give up too easily, perhaps also becoming a victim to Holden's overbearing personality. But, in the end it is Becca who will have to decide if she wants true love or status quo. Frankly, it was time for her to stand up the men in her life and take responsibility for her own future. So, while there were times I wanted to shake her she eventually shakes off the fog and sees things as they really are. Thank goodness! Here's to true love and HEA! 4 stars
Now this book was going ok, it started off at a solid three stars then it hit some snags that ended with me ranting at my computer screen. I don't think the title is really appropriate either. It gives me an entirely different expectation of what the book would be about.
Hit & Run Bride is a sweet contemporary romance. I loved the fact that Becca is a curvy heroine; is anyone else out there tired of reading about all those heroines with tiny waists? Give me a heroine who can appreciate the health benefits of a dark chocolate Snickers any day! (Because of course they're healthy, right? They're dark chocolate! Plus, the peanut and a half that fit into the bite-sized ones have protein as well--bonus!)
Becca and Liam have a two-part meet cute (part one: an altercation in the club parking lot...part two: he's her swim instructor ten minutes later) that started the novel off on its lighthearted way. Hit & Run Bride has a very chick-lit feel to it which made it a lot of fun to read--the meet cute, the quirky and supportive best friend, the heroine's job issues and relationship struggles with the oh-so-obviously wrong guy--they're all here.
Some of my favorite parts in this novel took place in the water--clearly, it is Liam's element, and he does all he can to make others feel as comfortable in it as he does. Whether he's coaxing reluctant swimmers--adult or children--into the water, spotting Olympic possibilities, or giving Becca "privates" (her name for private swim lessons--though at least one of them wasn't private enough...can you say awkward?), he really shone in the water. Plus, water does tend to accent all those lovely swimmer's muscles. But I digress...
Hit & Run Bride was a fairly short, slighty steamy read about a woman finding her place in the world and finding a guy who will really take the time to know her. She's a bit fashion-obsessed and very anti-exercise (the "inner sanctum of lost gym equipment" scene was particularly cute) and throughout the novel gains the confidence to stand up for what she wants and needs. She and Liam make for a great couple and an entertaining read. The issues are resolved in a way that has an almost too-good-to-be-true feel to it, but it went along nicely with the overall vibe of the book and really didn't bother me at all. I'd definitely be interested in reading more from both of these authors in the future.
