Coming of age is hard enough when you don't have to face monsters…
When your family ends up stranded in a magical world, you don't have much choice.
Jackson's class as an Ironwood Monk puts him right in the front line. He gets stronger the more he gets hit and can pass that on to the rest of the team. That is if he can get his mom to actually let him fight.
No one, least of all Jackson fully understands the importance he holds for his family's future or that of all Talos. He will have to navigate challenges both in dungeons and the halls of power if he is to find A New Home.
The next LitRPG series from the Amazon Bestselling author of Life in Exile, Sean Oswald is here. It’s perfect for fans of Dakota Krout, Luke Chmilenko, and Troy Osgood.
About the Series: This LitRPG is set in the world of Eloria which features character sheets, stats, spell descriptions, loot drops, and XP but is not in a game. It is set in the same universe as Sean Oswald's bestselling Life in Exile series, but can be read alone as its own story arc.
This audio book doesn't explain absolutely anything. It just nonsense of random things of way too many POVs about people I don't care about and again the author did not explain. You have no main character to follow or cheer on, just some over powered pre teens. I don't get all these 5 stars ratings.
I have missed the Nelson's so very much. I started it a little after midnight, I couldn't put it down and here we are... sleepless in Oz, and the book was totally worth the lack of sleep.
Don’t let the new series name fool you. This is a continuation of the series that put Sean Oswald on the map. If you enjoyed the first three books, you will find this tale wildly entertaining as our main family continues to put down roots in this new world they have been portalled to.
They call An Unwitting Price book 1 of a new series. It's not. It's book 5 of an existing series. They say you can come in without knowing anything about the other series. And that's true, as far as it goes, but what you end up getting is a series that starts with 2 people who you think are going to be the main characters, and then you spend hundreds of pages with the relatives of those characters, who were main characters in the other series, part way through their own individual stories. And if you think you're OK with extended stat drops in litRPG novels, I promise you this book will test your patience. Especially since if you haven't read the previous 4 books, you will have no idea who they are. I've given up on it.
It is no surprise that I would love this book! I've been following the Nelson family since they were sucked into Eloria and ended up following their first tenuous steps into this new reality! This book was touted to be Jackson's story, and I guess it was. But in reality it told a much, much bigger story encompassing the whole Nelson Family! And leaves me needing more of Sarah's story, so much more! So Sean Oswald write faster. Okay, thanks 😊. If you're looking for a great action-packed litRPG series this'll do it! And Peter Berkrot is the perfect voice talent for the job...
Mistakes: I didn’t find anything wrong with this book. It’s well written and edited as far as I can tell. I didn’t give it five stars because I didn’t really enjoy the jumping between characters. It seemed as soon as I was getting invested in what the two youngest children were doing we’d switch to someone else for a bit.
Plot: This story is just an extension of the first series. I’d call it the second arc.
Characters: The two youngest children are the most interesting, however don’t skip the other family members as they all tie together.
I read this book thinking it was a new series, but it was a continuation of another series. It kept referencing stuff from the previous series, so I was lost a lot. I would not recommend reading it without having read the previous series first. I think the previous series is the Life in Exile series. I will not continue reading this series unless I read through Life in Exile first. It was an enjoyable read, but it jumps from character to character a lot and keeps referencing events form the Life in Exile series.
I finally found this series again! Fit some reason kindle does recommending it, and dropped it from all my lists. I had to dig into my bid to find it after wondering about it. Totally worth it. I love the week right out magic system, the great world, and the characters. There is a well developed motivation for everyone's actions (God guys and bad) and the consequences for those actions are felt in their lives!
I cannot believe how much I love this series. It's not a repeat of just leveling a character up, but with a family of five who go and do different things in different places, there is much happening. I think that what gets me is that the father is trying his best to do everything for everyone (which is how I think I am) so when things are out of his control his stress level goes up and I think that he sometimes makes rash decisions..
Doesn't do a great job for people who don't know the author. Seems it a new series after a first one. Very YA and Preteen characters, many POV and hand-holding LITrpg stats. Not for me.
If you've never read a litrpg before, sure. If you've read much, then probably best to skip unless you like the author or YA fantasy.
Sean Oswald has improved so much since book one. This is top tier litrpg. I want to learn more about the eloria, the characters, and the system. It is everything I'm looking for in a litrpg. I'm impatiently waiting the next book.
Mr. Oswald appears to be "coming into his own" with this entry into the Watcher universe. I personally found this new installment to have better flow and pacing than the previous series about the Nelsons... Fun read and interesting universe.
Really enjoying the world and characters. I do wish it jumped from character to character less, as it would switch just as it was getting good. I get its supposed to keep people intrigued but it feels cheap.
I didn't read the series before this, and at times felt I missed something, but it wasn't a problem. The only issue is that I have spoilers for the first series, which I found.
