Different from what i was expecting but also still good. I have read the previous manga volumes and this was much more into the evolution of the slime than anything before this unless you count volume 1.
And with that volume now complete... Rimuru is now officially a Demon Lord! Still, that's clearly not the end of the intrigue here, as we now have the newly introduced character of Diablo, who is certainly more than he appears, and the mystery of what's happening with Milim and her destruction of and now what's going on with Carrion...
Be interesting to see which direction things go in next ;D
Chapter notes below for personal reference: (potentially spoiler heavy)
Suddenly I have some Black Butler in my Slime manga. With the assistance of his two lesser compatriots the demon that helped Rimuru (or at least his proxy) to resurrect his family and friends is able to get a name at least and it is not Sebastian but rather Diablo. Yet somehow the demon now in butler wear reminds me of the titular butler of Black Butler (though I am not sure if Diablo adores cats.) :)
Now a Demon Lord Rimuru has not only evolved as a species but classic skills he has relied on all along have evolved as well putting him on more even grounds with the other Demon Lord Power houses. Even more importantly is with Great Sage's evolution the great dragon Veldora may finally have a chance to break free of his imprisonment after two long years inside Rimuru. Things are getting exciting as Rimuru not only tries to figure out the fallout with Falmuth, the conflict between Carrion and Milim, and the potential threat of the holy church who okayed the assault on Tempest in the first place. Thankfully he has more power and great skills to fall back on however he choses to move forward.
Rimuru completes the process of becoming a Demon Lord, gaining new powers, resurrecting his fallen people, and affording his followers new powers. But the victory reunion must be cut short as war between the Demon Lords looms on the horizon. Milim has attacked Carrion, but something is off as more players come out of hiding.
Level ups are always exciting~
To whomever designs the cover art: Please put Kurobe on the cover. The running joke has gone on long enough; give the guy a break. It can be a group picture, just give him something.
Rimuru leveled-up! Again! Well, he "awakened" as a demon lord. Which was not as epic as I thought, but I really liked all skill evolutions (and how everyone get a power-up as well). It was quite satisfying to see everyone back (and the comeback for Benimaru was really funny), but there's only a small bit of reprieve as other situations still need to be resolved. Milim carrying out her threat against Karion is hinting at something else happening behind the scenes.
It wasn't that long ago that Crash Fever game had their second Reincarnated as a Slime collaboration event and it had characters from this part of the story like Diablo and Demon Lord Rimuru, was fun to see them in game and manga at the same time. :D (They are the anime versions in the game, i.e. the ones who have voices, have their anime VAs speak the lines.) I didn't get Demon Lord Rimuru in the game though... :'(
That was a good end to a battle. A lot of new things happening and I can't wait to see some new powers from Rimuru. I'm also super interested in Diablo, if those two work together I don't think there's anyone that can stop them. But he is kinda shady tho, will see. I'm really exhausted from all the emotions stress this 4 books put me through but now I can relax and enjoy seeing them all evolve and flourish
I sometimes tire of trying to write a review of every manga volume because they are usually read so quickly. I'll just say that this one continues the excellence that is the series. I've enjoyed it on the whole very much indeed. This volume certainly brings some changes and it will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
These past few volumes have been such a joy to read, Slime had always been amazing to me but recently they have hit new heights and I can't wait to read more!!
The developments that have happened I look forward to seeing them in full flow in the coming volumes!!!
This volume is about Rimuru's evolution into a demon lord, which is also evolving all the monsters he has named... meaning, nearly everybody! The resurrection of the fallen towns folks (and Shion) is also happening, resulting on some amusing happenings.
I freaking love Diablo. Tempest is the best place. Welcoming refugees to feeding them. Rimuru has really taught his people well. Except for Falmuth that hurt them. Never cross Rimuru.
