When Visteal and Zyacus come back from Faerie to the Allied Kingdoms Academy married, ready to unite Hesstia and Delhoon, two kingdoms rooted in ancient bad blood, unrest threatens their happiness. Zyacus's royal parents hesitate to sign the contract to make their marriage official binding them by law in this realm...
Why?
Zyacus's younger brother Drakonus mysteriously joins the Allied Academy, and although he claims to not be there to challenge Zyacus for the heirship, an assassin makes an attempt on Zyacus's life just days after the second-born brother arrives.
Rivalries between wolf shifters and vampires deepen as does the conflict between brothers. Visteal and Zyacus must fight for kingdom, love, and life as threats bombard them from all sides, and trust in those around them is hard to come by.
This was a great conclusion to the series. I would have enjoyed a longer epilogue but otherwise really liked the book. It closed everyone’s story in such a nice way. There was plenty of action and romance as well! Great job for a long awaited ending!!!!
Sure would like to know if they had any little ones and whether they end up joining the kingdoms together. It's been a long road. Keep writing their story!!! ❤
A solid ending to the series — I would have loved had there been an epilogue of the far future so we could’ve seen how the kingdoms fared and how vampires and wolf shifters coexisted.
I didn’t partially like that the Academy closed in the end because at that point what was the purpose? Especially, if all of the kingdoms were to go back and live separately? Idk I understand that change doesn’t happen over night and after all that’s happened it would’ve been hard but like…. close it down for a year and try again idk.
Anyways, I liked all the characters except Legacy. I feel like everyone had some development but she was pretty stagnant idk.
With all that being said, I probably wouldn’t recommend this series unless you were a preteen/teen .. heavy on the preteen side. It was good for what it was but very juvenile with its descriptions. It was like the author thought we couldn’t understand context clues and had to spell everything out for us.

A great conclusion to the series! I really enjoyed the ending and the way the story came together. I suspected the main villain pretty early on, however, I think it was still pretty cleverly set up. I think it could have had a little less parties and a little more literally any other setting. The newlywed teens made things a bit weird. They were obviously in the honeymoon phase, but it was mainly insinuations and time jumps. All in all, I enjoyed the book, especially the latter half.
I understand closing a story is difficult, but introducing new characters without including the complexities of the previous characters left this story lacking and a bit of disappointment. It would have been better to include the fairies because they were introduced previously than just be topical with werewolves and vampires. It felt as if there was not a lot of thought put into the plot.
I enjoyed this series but this last book fell a little short for me. I think the author is phenomenal but the series could have ended with the 3rd book if the 3rd book had a better ending. In all of her books I’ve read I feel like the endings are a little rushed but she hooks me every time!
J.M. Kearl never fails. I've binge read almost all of her series books and have fallen in love with every single character. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!
This book pretty much just wraps up everyone's life. While there is some action, it was kind of anticlimactic. I was happy to finally see Rorin and Aric connect as father and son as they should have been allowed to previously.
A bit anticlimactic after the last book and several characters didn’t get a real ending (Taz anyone?) or an ending that felt very abrupt and forced (Aric just spacing out of control and then getting a happy end with the girlfriend he just insulted).
