This was a decent starter book for a new parent but as a non first time parent, this book oversimplified a lot of issues and lumped kids into two categories... emotionally intelligent and not emotionally intelligent. In particular, this book could incorporate emotional intelligence for sensitive, or highly introverted children. There are a few good activities in the book but they seem to be variations on a similar idea.

What I liked about this book was it succinctly described what the high EQ ability is and included 8 specific skills to work on as a family. There are multiple activities for each skill that can easily be incorporated into family interactions. Can't wait to put them to the test!
