Dean Schneider, a popular Baptist preacher, suffers a crippling blow to his ego when his teenage son Ian finally comes out as gay during the 2016 election season to spite his father's political convictions. Dean's world is plunged even further into darkness when a white cockroach enters his dreams and slowly grows there, luring him further away from reality with every dream. As he starts to depend on the white roach for happiness, he begins to become more and more of a menace not only to Ian, but to his younger son Oliver as well. Dean's wife, Rebecca, finds herself fearing for her children's safety as Dean slowly spirals out of control. It's when the white roach begins an assault on her mind that she realizes she must fight to protect her family not only from her husband's madness, but from the machinations of the white roach as well.
