When Kaden Phillips’ marriage collapsed he was left with three things: a daughter he adores, his career as a Reno, Nevada firefighter, and a wariness of letting another woman into his life. The only woman he really allows to get close is the one he trained with at the Fire Academy and who is now his partner in battling blazes. But lately she’s lighting a fire of her own in his heart. If he allows the spark of heat between them to grow, will it destroy their friendship?
Can’t fight the fire…
Whether she’s knocking down fires or relaxing on the back of her green and black Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, pint-sized firefighter Riley Carmichael is determined to prove that brains can make up for brawn. She’s equally determined not to let Kaden’s smoldering smoke-blue eyes ignite a fire in her that could burn out of control. If she confesses she’s been in love with him for years, it might ruin the solid friendship they share.
Too hot to handle…
But when a horrific accident on the job threatens both their lives they may be forced to confront the truth together before it’s too late. When passions get too hot to handle, can Kaden and Riley stop fighting the fire and just enjoy the heat?
Tracey’s writing has been described as “vivid” and “gut-wrenchingly beautiful” and has been accused of making readers cry. All of which makes her heart feel ten times bigger because (despite having the appearance of a got-it-together business owner) she’s a hopeless romantic who believes that love—in all its many forms—truly makes the world go round.
Get swept away by wounded, flawed and vulnerable heroes (and the women who love them).
Join strong heroines on their riveting journeys through loss, forgiveness and self-realization.
Hang onto the edge of your seat through action-packed adventure and drama.
And most of all, escape into the combustible combination of ‘slow burn’ sensual pleasure and true love!

Tracey is a former Army combat medic and EMT. When not writing (or working part-time to support her writing habit), Tracey enjoys riding her motorcycle (which she affectionately calls ‘Black Widow’); spending time at the lake with family; and watching her favorite soccer teams (which include her kids’).
She lives on a 3-acre oasis in small-town Minnesota with a small menagerie of critters, an infinitesimally understanding hubby, and two almost-grown children who put up with the ‘embarrassment’ of a motorcycle-riding, romance writing mom!
This is an exciting new series by Tracey Cramer-Kelly. The story mostly takes place in a fire station in Reno.
Kade and Riley are firefighters who have known each other for years. They met during their training the Fire Academy, and have been partners ever since.
The action begins immediately in Chapter One. Kade, Riley and their fellow firefighters are fighting a huge fire. Riley finds it difficult to know down the door. One of her colleagues yells at Kade not to “coddle the little woman” because everyone has to “pull their own weight.”
From the beginning, this author illustrates the great affection that Kade and Riley have for each other. She skillfully displays it through their thoughts and actions. In spite of those feelings, their relationship has never been more than a platonic one - as trusted partners and close friends. However, Riley has always been, secretly in love with Kade.
It is only after a huge fire that Kade and Riley are in danger of crossing the line between friends and lovers. Both of them are trapped inside a burning building, and Kade is seriously injured. Riley blames herself, and begins to question her ability as a firefighter.
At this point, their relationship changes when Riley unwittedly reveals to Kade her feelings for him. At this point, their lives become very confusing and difficult to handle.
Kaden and Riley have been firefighter partners together since their days in the academy but something has been smoldering between them for years. Do they cross the line from just work partners to more??? After an on the job accident leaves Kaden seriously injured, they must confront their feelings for each other or ruin everything from work to their friendship.
Kaden is an all around good guy and very likeable. I mean you could probably put him in the DILF category ;) Riley is sure of her feelings for Kaden but could be a bit stronger advocating for herself against some of her chauvinstic coworkers. That's the only thing bothered me about her but having worked in a male dominated industry for years, I understand that you pick your battles and just prove you belong by busting ass.
My only real complaint is that it's too short! I wasn't ready to be finished with their story yet. But seriously you could pretty much read this in one sitting.
I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a complimentary copy.
This story introduces us a couple of Reno’s finest firefighters. Kaden Phillips and Riley Carmichael became close friends at the Fire Academy and years later are partners in their fire station. Kaden’s divorce leaves him with little interest in any type of committment with the opposite sex, though Riley does stir some feelings. But his daughter and work come first. An accident leaves them both out of sorts. Will it be the catalyst that brings them together, or will it cause them to go separate ways? I was entrusted a copy of this book by Hidden Gems. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
A quick read, A deep friendship years in the making, having each others backs and both are firefighters. The author does a good job bringing some of what transpires with firefighters to us the reader, or the uninformed. I could feel the deep friendship through the pages. I loved the fact that Riley rode a motorcycle :) as do I. When the accident happens on the job feelings come to the forefront. I thought Riley had more strength than Kaden, she had more honesty with herself and her feelings, and I had to wait for Kaden to man up. Kaden's relationship with his daughter was beautiful, well done! I personally feel this could have been a longer book, fleshed out a little more, as some of the secondary characters brought more to the story. Thank you for the arc Hidden Gems, I freely volunteer my thoughts an opinions.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I received the ARC from Hidden Gems. It is the story of Kaden and Riley, who have been friends since the fire academy and have shared a strong friendship and partnership on the job. The book opens with Kaden getting divorce papers from his wife and then quickly fast-forwards to two years later as he is managing his job and his co-parenting with his now ex-wife. As his relationship with Riley begins to be more than partners at work, they are involved in a particularly dangerous fire that scares them both, but they handle it in different ways. The book takes you on a journey or “will they” or “won’t they”.
Riley Carmichael and Kade Phillips are fire fighters in the Reno, Nevada fire department, Station 3. They are partners and both got injured in a house fire, Kade very badly. Riley is eaten up by guilt thinking she caused Kade, the man she has secretly loved for years, to be injured and starts avoiding him. Kade confronts her and she blurted out her feelings to him. Kade is shocked and does not react. Riley approaches her superior about transferring to another station. They eventually get their issues straightened out and get their HEA.
This is a fast fun read that introduces us to the firefighters based at a Reno fire station This first book is about Kaden Phillips and Riley Carmichael these two not only serve together but they went through the academy together They have a wonderful friendship even if Riley wishes that it can be more When a fire puts their lives in danger and with Kaden hurt Riley finally allows her walls to drop and Kaden finds out exactly how she feels but is it to late and can Kaden get over his mistrust of women after what his ex wife did to him. Firefighters Kade and Riley have been best friends for years and are finally single at the same time. After being trapped in a horrific fire that they almost didn't make it out of they finally begin to confront their feelings for each other. Riley is a tough female firefighter who rides a motorcycle and Kade is a divorcé and an amazing single father. Quick paced and a really good read.
Disclaimer: I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. The opinions I expressed are entirely my own.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Riley and Kade are firefighting partners where Riley, being a petite woman, is harassed by one of her co-workers. Kade is hit with a divorce and Riley helps him through being a co-parent and learning to be single. I like this story as it shows how people’s reactions don’t quite fit their true feelings. It takes a near death accident for the two to reveal their feelings.
This is a story of two firefighter friends and partners who both have a bad brush with death. They've had each other's back through thick and thin, however after the fire Riley feels guilty. Riley has been hiding her feelings for Kade for a long time not wanting to ruin their friendship. Kade don't want to let anyone in his heart and surprises how he really feels about Riley. This is a story about friendship, trust, loyalty, family and taking chances.
They have always had each others back, but what happens when feelings are brought out? Will they finally find the love and partnership each craves?
This biggest like for me in this book was the foundation these two had. I didn't blame him for taking a second due to being blindsided, but did love that he was determined to correct it. I loved how she put herself out there. Good read!

I really enjoyed this firefighter novella. Riley and Kade have been partners and best friends for years. They have a traumatic near death experience together which leaves Riley unable to deny her feelings for Kade any longer. Will she tell Kade? Are the feelings reciprocal? It's a sexy and sweet romance.
A quick fast paced enjoyable read. It left me wanting more. More details into their lives. The plot was good. I loved Kade and Riley together. Lots of stream and not just from fires! It’s very rare that a quick read leaves me wanting more. I really wanted to in-depth with more storyline and details. I can’t wait to read Book 2.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I adore firefighters and stories about them. This story is no exception. Kaden and Riley were perfect as partners at work and otherwise. I received a copy of this book via HiddenGems which I am voluntarily reviewing.
I won this on goodreads giveaways and I was soooo excited!! But it missed the mark for me.
I thought this book had a lot of potential, however the story seemed extremely rushed and I found it incredibly difficult to connect with the characters. :/
