He is my savior, my protector… but he told me to run from him when his eyes turn black. Is it wrong to trust this alien?
Quinn doesn’t want to become an alien lab rat; she has more glamorous plans for her life. When a hunky alien warrior saves her from this fate, she’s ready to fall into his muscular arms. But when he warns her that he’s dangerous, she wonders if he is any different from those who abducted her.
Vala had resigned himself to death or worse at the hands of his enemies. Instead, they have found him a mate, forcing the mating call to ignite. A mysterious disaster leads to their escape, but how can Vala ensure his mate’s safety when he is driven mad by the curves of her body?
In the series Virgin Warriors of Kar'Kal, a team of scientists from a warrior race will discover that the mating call of their ancestral culture is not as suppressed as they thought it was. One by one they will fall victim to their fated mate, and all the unpredictable feelings that come with her...
This is my favorite. Vala is baby. Quinn is well developed. There's family stuff and the pirates are more interesting than they were in their (supposed) own series. I have a perverse love of alien toilets. Yes! Tell me how the tentacle monster poops!
Vala was the most precious giant of a man. His captivity was so sad, but expected after book 3. Quinn was a sexy curvy seductress and I absolutely loved it! She helped Vala come into his own with his emotional intelligence and rolled with the punches life dealt her. Ya know, like being abducted by aliens and threatened with medical experimentation. Both characters were well rounded and interesting and I’m enjoying the continuation of the overarching plot, which I can’t go into detail about without spoiling it. This series has been awesome and I’m excited for the final book!
Spice: 4/5
Triggers: abduction, claustrophobic imprisonment, torture, involuntary medical experimentation, drugging, violence, gore, genocide, grief from death of sibling, violent death of parents (off page), brainwashing (off page)
Love this plot, love these characters, it was a little too insta love for me and I wish we had more relationship plot at the end and less normal plot (lol) but it was fun I couldn’t put it down for a while there!
This is the first book of this author's that I've read and I have to say it was a real page turner for me :) Action, danger, adventure, fated mates with sizzling chemistry - what's not to love ;P You can expect a well written story with great characters and detailed world building to totally captivate you. I have to go and grab the rest of the series, now, so I'm fully ready for the next book. Good fun!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was my first alien book, and I was nervous while reading the first few pages, but I quickly started loving it and could not put it down. I loved this book so much that I want my next book to be an alien read. Or any read with a paranormal aspect and a fated mate trope. I loved the use of similes throughout the book, I know most authors and readers feel similes should not be used since they are viewed as simple, but I prefer them over metaphors, if they are used correctly. And Gemma Voss used her similes correctly every time, which makes a reader like me overjoyed to continue reading this book. Even though I was as frustrated as Quinn and Vala when they could not communicate, I was still in love with how Vala thought of Quinn. I have never read a book with the trope of fated mate, but this book has definitely got me into it. Protective alpha males are always my weak spot, and Vala brings it to a whole new level. And I love how he can be protective, but she lets her make her own decisions, even though it is against his gut instinct, and he has to save her butt late, he knows the balance. Which I know a lot of book boyfriends I read do not, even if there isn't a fated mate bond. Dual POV Alien Insta-love on guy's side Thick FMC
Vala was once a free Kar'Kali. The events that led to him being where is now though have nothing short of traumatic. He has been at the mercy of the Azza, well mercy is nowhere in sight. They have cage him and then sent in an unending string of human women in an effort to force him into a mating-fever. One by one they have come and gone, most terrified of him as well until a fighting purple-haired woman in brought in. Suddenly everything changes. He MUST protect her and he needs to get them out of there and then he needs to stay as far away from her as possible. Quinn is not happy, not at all. She has been taken, stuck in stasis and been shoved into a cage with a huge alien male with silver hair. He has tried to speak with her and tell her that he means her no harm but that doesn't change the fact that they are currently both prisoners. Somehow despite him being huge and potentially deadly she believes him when he tells her, in broken English no less, that he means her no harm. She's innocent and in the same position as him so, why not? If he can get her out of here all the better. That and he seems very sweet and protective. What's not to like?
4.5 stars. Vala, the alien male lead, was left by his comrades due to necessity and then picked up by his people’s enemies. They desperately want beings with his DNA under their control and have been parading women past him attempting to trigger his mating response. Quinn, the female human lead, is a Hollywood hair stylist who has been kidnapped and the mate he’d be glad to find under any other circumstances…
This story is dual POV, well written, and contains a fast moving escape from their captors whilst dealing with mating fever. I enjoyed the lead characters and their relationship development, as well as the individual character development. I appreciated the continued world building and the set up for the next series in this interesting world.

Am I a bad person if I say that one of my favourite alien romance tropes is when the bad guys imprison the alien hero and then kidnap a bunch of human ladies because they want to find his fated mate for nefarious reasons?
Nothing says romance like meeting under duress 😅 Especially when there’s a huge amount of language barrier and escape-adventure-danger, my favourite.
You could argue that, even though this is book 5 of 6 in the main series, you could start with this one (if you like being a series chaos queen). This story was an important node in the overarching series, as well as its connection to the spin-off. It had a lot of plot stuff to pull off, and I was pretty impressed!
It was just shy of a perfect read because the heroine did something dumb at one point, and not in a fun way. But overall, I really enjoyed it 💙
This is the first book I’ve read from Ms. Gemma Voss, and I am certainly impressed! Although this is a part of a series, it can be read by itself. I love that Valla, though a tough warrior, showed consideration and tenderness throughout the story. I love that Quinn, even through the abduction and uncertainty of her situation, she was both courageous and spunky. The two together is perfect combination. After reading Vala and Quinn’s story, I am planning on starting the series to catch up with the Kar’Kals.
I highly recommend reading this if you love a spunky heroine who is always positive and a hero who’s a warrior with a heart.

When Quinn and her fellow passengers are kidnapped, she doesn’t know what was going to happen to her. So when they present her to this huge grey alien who’s strapped down and starts acting like a beast, she doesn’t know what to think. Is he a monster or her hero? Vala knew the moment that they brought her to him that she was his mate and he’d do anything to protect her from his enemies, a little problematic seeing as how he was a prisoner himself. And who would protest her from him? Love this awesome fast paced, action-packed story. Great characters and worldbuilding. Just keeps getting better and better.

This was so great. The world building was amazing - many complexities in this book that make the Kar'Kali feel so real. I loved the relationship between Quinn and Vala a lot. He was so precious with her - I need all my book boyfriends to be this obsessed with the FMC.
I do wish they had decided to return to Earth in the end so that we could see Quinn reunite with her parents. I feel like that would have tied up the storyline with her sister as well - which felt like a loose end.
I also feel the author didn't take full advantage of the premise - Quinn and Vala could have been forced to spend more time with each other in captivity and this would have created interesting tension.
I’m sure this is a great series but this is the first book I’ve read out of it. I did thoroughly enjoy it. If you want a book that is full of action and drama then this is the book for you. I loved how Vala, once he met his mate Quinn, who is from earth, tries to protect her at all times, especially from his passion when they are free. These two are really good characters who are easily identifiable as strong individuals. The passion is amazing between them and the excitement of always staying ahead of danger. There’s a lot more involved in the story and eventually there is a happily ever after.

Vala’s enemies have been trying to find a mate for him so they can use him in their lab experiments. When he finally reacts to the Earth human Quinn, who is apparently his mate, he goes into protective mode, even warning her against himself when the mating call ignites. Watching these two care for each other and get through the dangers together will keep the reader racing through the exciting pages to see if they will gain their freedom or not. And what comes after that? Is it possible to find a HEA with an alien such as this one? Or is he every bit as dangerous as he says he is?
I enjoyed this story about Vala, a Warrior of Kar'Kal, and Quinn who ends up being abducted by aliens. Vala has been a test subject and his captors want him to procreate and provide them with a baby. Vale and Quinn meet he knows right away that she is his mate. They want Vala to mate with the human Quinn. Vala knows that he must protect Quinn and find a way for them to escape. I love the relationship between Quinn and Vala. They make a perfect couple. Great story.

This is the first book in the series that I read, and it works as a standalone. The world-building is great, the whole idea about the Kar'Kal and their home planet is so intriguing that I will definitely read the entire series. The main characters clicked well together; he was a such sweet guy, and she was not afraid to go after what she wanted. Their sexy times were scorching hot! The book made me laugh as well, the subtle humor was so good. 5-star science fiction romance!
I really enjoyed this one and even though I had not read the previous books in the series, I didn’t miss anything in my opinion.
I also really enjoyed how Vala actually knew some basic English, it provided a fun and unique way into the communication and the trope of a language barrier. The action was well done and I liked how the main couple worked on their communication .
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Alien’s Cargo felt like an action-packed breather in the series—in a good way. Quinn’s sass and Vala’s danger made for a hot, high-stakes pairing. The survival plotline and post-abduction trauma gave their connection urgency and weight. It’s the kind of romantic tension where you feel the stakes in every glance, every decision. Less introspective than the earlier books, but the pacing and chemistry kept me hooked.
This book has so much adventure. Unlike the others in this series, none of it takes place on Earth. It does however span space and multiple planets. After his loss in a previous book, we finally get to see Vala again and watch him meet his mate.

I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I was completely captivated by the story right from the start and couldn't put it down. I completely loved Vala. The story was fast-paced, with action, suspense, and danger. Quinn was the perfect match for him. A great read. I recommend picking this one up. 5 stars.
This is a well written book with action, violence, intense desire, steamy scenes and more with a happily ever after ending. It’s got amazing characters and an exciting and entertaining storyline. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a definite must read and a 10/10, if you haven’t read this you are missing out.

Almost gave this a 5 star until fmc made a stupid mistake. Seriously, you want to rescue your people without planning? There were like more than 5 aliens as an enemy and there might be more but you just want to blindly go in? Wtf? Where’s her common sense? And when she got captured all she did was screamed the mc’s name for help.

It was another great book in this series, it was what I was looking for in an alien romance book. The characters were great and I enjoyed this journey with them. I look forward to more in this series.

I was so excited to read Vala's story! I really loved Quinn and her vivacious personality. It was so cool to see her pick up on that subtle change that happened to him when they first saw each other.
