I'd really missed reading about Bee and Ruby's adventures since it's been a while since the last book. This took up after they'd been in their new town in Kentucky for a few months (the move was off page, no worries you didn't miss anything) and had the two sleuths very bored to start with. I knew they wouldn't be bored for too long, lol.
There was a good twist, and I hadn't guessed whodunit. The takedown/showdown was pretty exciting if not a bit comical as well. I laughed every time that old guy Dorian tried to flirt with Bee. I think she nearly rolled her eyes out of their sockets. Our sleuths were back in business and it was really good to catch up with these ladies again. The ending was awfully sweet too! Can't wait to read the next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the author via BookSprout, and my opinions are my own.
Bee and Ruby are in Bourdon Kentucky where nothing to 'write home' about has happened. That is until they watch an ice skater, Victoria, and her boyfriend, Dan, get into a spat and then a homeless woman just disappears. Victoria Greene was told by the police to stay off the frozen pond due to high risk of melting. Of course, she didn't listen to them and the next morning her body is found under the ice. Something isn't quite right with the scene. Bee knows this was no accident, but can they prove it? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A bite of culinary cozy Bee and Ruby take the food truck to Bourbon, Kentucky. While parking the truck by a local pond they find a body under the ice. The local police are quick to deem it accidental, but the ladies are sure it’s not and dig for information. Quick fun read. I received a free ARC to peruse or not as I chose. Recommend for any age, no gore or sex scenes. I offer my opinion gratis.
Ruby and Bea have moved their food truck to a new location, alongside a large frozen pond. They have just remarked how quiet it’s been lately, aka no murders for a while. Then a young female ice skater that they had the pleasure of watching skate the other day is found dead in the pond. Ruby and Bea are on the scene and notice two sets of ice skate tracks. But the local law authoritydeclares this an accidental death. Not only that, but he furiously tells them to stop investigating, and warns townspeople about talking to them. Bea is now in a blue funk, doubting her detecting skills. Ruby is having her own type of personal crisis. Will this be the one case they can’t solve? This story was enjoyable, with lots of twists and misleading clues.I liked the human side of these characters in this story, with their insecurities and self-doubts. I can’t wait to see what the next adventure brings. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing this book and all opinions are strictly my own.
Bee and Ruby have moved their food truck to Bourbon, Kentucky, and park by a frozen pond each day to watch the skaters while they sell their cupcakes. They saw a woman on a bench watching the skaters too. She looked so cold that Ruby took a cup of coffee and a cupcake to her. The woman’s name was Gina and Ruby introduced herself and Bee. All eyes were on figure skater Victoria Greene as she spun and looped through the air with grace. They heard loud footsteps on the path and an angry young man stormed past and walked out on the ice. Ruby turned to talk to the homeless woman on the bench, but she was gone. The man started to yell at the skater, Victoria, for being here rather than at the skating rink – which was closed for renovations -- since she risked injury. He was evidently a new boyfriend and she told him to leave as he kept insisting the ice was not safe. His shouts and glares followed her as she skated away from him to buy a cup of coffee.
They were ready to quit for the day when a police siren sounded and the car pulled up to the food truck. An officer and the Fire Chief got out. They chased the skaters off the ice. On Victoria Greene ignored them. Apparently she ignored them the last time they did this too. Chief Wattson was insistent, threatening to come out there on the ice and drag her off, and he then started chasing her around on the ice. When Bee applauded at one of Victoria’s leaps, the cop told them to leave, despite having a permit to be there. Bee decided she was bored since there hadn’t been a murder in some time now.
The next morning, Bee was ready to return to the pond, despite Ruby’s reservations. As they pulled the truck next to the pond, Bee thought she saw something. The ice had marks as if skaters collided, and a hole in the ice. Taking a flashlight, they saw a body half-way in the hole and the rest under the ice. Where was the second skater who left the marks in the ice? And why were the local police insisting this was an accident? Bee and Ruby don’t believe that and are determined to find out the truth. Will they be able to solve the case?
One of my all-time favorite series with two really great protagonists that are real people. Ruby and Bee own a cupcake food truck going from town to town and finding adventures in each. This time they are in Bourbon, Kentucky parked down near the lake near valentines day which seems to be special to the town. While selling their cupcakes, they see a girl out on the lake ice skating like she was practicing for a competition. She was so graceful until the fire chief told her to get off the ice, it isn't safe. She refused and skated circles around him. While watching, Ruby sees a homeless woman sitting on the bench looking like she was freezing in the cold so Ruby gives her a cupcake and hot cup of coffee. When Ruby and Bee come back the next day to park at the lake again, something doesn't look right. Looking closer Ruby and Bee see a hole in he ice and a blue ice skating outfit peeking through. It is the girl who was there yesterday, Victoria and she is dead in the hole. The police detective, fire chief and coroner all deem it an accident. They believe she just fell through the ice. But something just doesn't sit right with Bee and her past tribulations seem to be creeping into her judgment so, she and Ruby are set on proving someone murdered Victoria. With lots of dead-ends, red-herrings and lots of laughter with Dorian, the owner of the local grocery store getting in the way by trying to help while he has a huge crush on Bee. Add to that, Ruby is still afraid to trust men since her horrible experience in her life, but her boyfriend Jamie has been supportive and patient, but she is constantly questioning whether she could ever have a real true romance. Will Jamie wait forever or is there trouble in paradise? This is a fun series. I can't wait to see what Bee and Ruby get themselves into next. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
What another enjoyable read about Ruby and Bee! With Valentine’s Day not far away, they are in Bourbon, Kentucky hoping to celebrate the best holiday ever. Every morning they parking their truck beside a frozen pond serving customers their wonderful treats. This time, it is candy heart cupcakes. Unfortunately, one morning, they arrive in their usual spot and notice a corpse floating beneath the ice. A woman was dead and the police are convinced it was an accident. Bee and Ruby believe it was a murder and they start investigating. Join Bee and Ruby as they put on their sleuthing hat to analyze the evidence and identify the murderer. The whole series is an enjoyable read. The plot and characters were well-written, making you feel like you are friends. Here is another delightfully light hearted cozy by one of my favorite authors. Ruby and Bee are buddies and they own a bakery truck business. They are currently in bourbon selling delicious valentine treats to the skaters on the frozen lake. The sheriff chases everyone off the ice because it is thin and dangerous. The beautiful girl took off over the ice and led him on a gleeful chase. The deputy chased away ruby and Bee. When they returned later there was a body floating over the ice. The chase across the ice was my favorite part. It was described so perfectly that it made me chuckle. This was a fantastic book.. I highly recommend it to any cozy mystery fans.
Ruby and Bee are in Bourbon, Kentucky and are getting bored not having any murders to solve for several months. That changes quickly when they find figure skater Victoria Greene dead at the lake. The local detective and fire chief rule it a tragic accident but something is fishy to Ruby and Bee so they decide to investigate. The case seems to have them stumped when all the obvious suspects have alibis. Everything seems to come back to the ice rink and that is where the gals wind up solving the case.. I enjoyed this cozy mystery with all of the characters. The two main characters were Ruby and Bee.
Ruby and Bee have been solving murder and traveling as bakers in their baker truck. They have came to the town of Bourbon, Kentucky to serve the friendly locals their delicious treats. But when a murder happens both of them decides to help solve it. But there a problem the local police department thinks it was not a murder but an accident.
It was fun reading and trying to guessing the murder. This story has adventure and action throughout.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Ruby and Bee investigate a murder of a figure skater that the Bourbon Police believe was an accident. Ruby has her own past issues raise their head. This conversation provides some wise words about one of the issues. "You know", I said, "the words falling from my lips. The more you trust people, the more you get hurt." Bee stopped typing and looked up at me. "The less you trust people, the less love and joy you have in your life. Take it from a cynic. You've got to trust people until they prove you wrong or you'll never experience real joy that life has to offer." And she returned to typing. (Chapter 27)
I've read several books written by Rosie A. Point; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is part of the Bite-Sized Cozy Mystery Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Ruby & Bee; they are traveling bakers and go to Kentucky for the Valentine’s holiday but when they get to their normal spot they find a dead woman. They start investigating the case.

Ruby and Bee have moved to Bourbon. They enjoy watching a lady skating. She is a star. Unfortunately, she is found dead by Ruby and Bee and it is ruled as an accident. Bee suspects foul play. Another entertaining mystery which is a page turner. I love the humorous dialogues and the description of the cast of characters. The cover is enticing.
Ruby and Bee are at it again and this time in Bourbon. They manage to stay in yet another quirky small town. I liked the characters in this adventure of theirs's. I liked the easy way that Ruby and Bee make friends with the town's inhabitants. I love that the author manages to make all her mysteries unique with different murder styles every time. I was really entertained with this one.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great mystery with the Bite Sized Bakery. Ruby and Bee have traveled to Bourbon Kentucky and are enjoying their stay. Then a local skater is found frozen under the ice in the pond. The police write it off as an accident but Ruby and Bee and see it was foul play. Can they track down the killer since the police think it was an accident? Follow along and enjoy the story as they piece together what happened and find the guilty culprit.
A cozy, easy listen. I love how several of the female characters are strong and firey without being carbon copies of each other. This book is one in a long series, but works well as a stand alone which I always appreciate. My only gripe is that the subplot feels somewhat shoehorned in. The long distance boyfriend is brought up at random, and the plot is wrapped up in a final minute of dialogue. However, I'm interested to see how the future of this subplot impacts the series.
Bee and Ruby finds themselves in Bourbon, KY thinking they would finally get some peace and quiet before Valentine's Day. Instead they discovered a body of a local skating star that the police is treating as an accident even though the ladies know better.
The case taught Ruby how hanging onto past misgivings could ruin what is good in the present like her relationship with Jamie.
A cozy, murder mystery you'll find enjoyable and hard to put down. A well written story line that pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages. The characters are fun, easy to get to know and work well together. Will they be able to solve the mystery of who the killer is before it's too late?.
