In peak physical shape from hitting the gym hard in the offseason? Check. Officially the highest paid defenseman on the Sin City Saints? Check. Faking a relationship with a woman he’s secretly crazy in love with? Yeah, that’s a big check.

The son of a legendary pro basketball player, Pax Bishop was poised to follow in his father’s footsteps when life took him in another direction. Now a pro hockey player, he must find a way to reject the advances of the daughter of his team’s new owner without offending her.

Kylie Thomas gives Pax the perfect out. She’s single, and pretending to be attracted to her? That won’t be an issue for Pax, because he’s secretly had it bad for her since the day they met. He can’t let his true feelings show, though, because not only is Kylie a single mom and a widow, she’s Pax’s teammate’s sister.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but it can also be deeply, maddeningly good. The stakes are high as Pax opens his wounded heart in hopes he’s not the only one whose feelings are more than just a bluff.

I absolutely adored Ben & Kylie!

As much as I adored Ben & Kylie and their journey, some of the secondary plot-points diminished my joy to the point of #twitchy. Mostly, I found the whole teammate sister conflict cliché and off putting. I wish one time it wouldn’t be the go-to conflict and to be honest, Pike’s (the teammate in question) actions were way out of proportion. These guys have known each other for one year, in what universe is that enough time to even pass judgement on how a person is or isn’t when it comes to relationships. The whole plot-point was just way too ridiculous for my grown mind to handle LOL It didn’t make me love Ben & Kylie less, but it sure did frustrate me.

This was a sweet romance with very little angst written into the storyline but the opportunity was there for it. The author made a choice not to delve too deep into the circumstances both Ben and Kylie brought into the relationship, which is not a bad choice perse, but it did make the story a bit superficial yet completely enjoyable. I know, that makes little sense, but it is what it is. I think my major joy about this story was Ban & Kylie’s characters and how they developed with each other. The rest was just background noise. *shrug*

5 star Review Pax (Sin City Saints Hockey #3) by Brenda Rothert

Pax is book three in the latest series from Brenda Rothert and what a fabulous addition to the series it was. This is Pax Bishop and Kylie Thomas’s story and what a story it was. I adore Pax, in fact he is my favourite of the series so far.

I fell hard and fast for these two and had a hard time putting this book down when real life got in the way. The writing was strong with characters that were engaging, easy to relate to and even easier to fall for.

Pax is a successful player with a serious problem as the daughter of the team’s new owner is determined to have him. However Pax is not interested, he has had feelings for Kylie, his teammate’s sister for a while but has not acted on it. Desperate to avoid the owner’s daughter, he tells the spoiled woman that he already has a girlfriend, Kylie.

When Kylie’s husband passes away, after being in a coma for years , she is a little lost. Sure she has had years to come to terms with the reality of her husband being in a coma but it is still a shock when he dies. Upon learning of Pax’s predicament, Kylie agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend.

We all know what can happen and this is no exception for Pax and Kylie. As they get to know one another, lines are crossed. I loved the journey these two embarked on, it was emotional, sweet and romantic.

Can this single mum find happiness with Pax? What will happen when the truth comes out? Can Pax convince Kylie to take a chance on happiness? One click and find out.

This book had a quiet tone to it, sort of like the little relationship that could. It started out as fake, but with real feelings on Pax's side, feeling he had kept hidden. For Kylie, she was helping out a friend, but then realized how long it had been since she had dated and realized she liked Pax. Throw in all the drama from their families, blood and hockey and there was quiet a bit for them to wade through. I'm glad things worked out for them and I loved the ending. Such a great way to honor the past, while living in the present.

On a side note, can I say how much I loved Maverick and how he stood up to the new owner about his POS daughter! I hated her and was cheering when this all went down.

Pax needs a girlfriend fast, and he is on the spot; the new owner’s daughter has him in her site. He blurts out the first name to come to mind, Kylie. But, add a couple of complications, she is off limits as a teammate’s sister, and he has a crush on her.

Kylie being the beautiful soul she is, helps him out. It turns out she is the perfect woman for the job, and she stands up to Pax’s suitor just fine. Maybe there is something there? Kylie and Jasmine do deserve a second chance at love. Although we have some family drama, will it work out in the end?

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Well, it was time for another Brenda Richest hockey romance. Though fairly short,it was still enjoyable. Pax, our hero, is a defenceman for the Las Vegas NHL hockey team. No, not the real one has fictional team. He's secretly been in love with Kelsey, the sister of his best friend for a year now but she's been off limits. Her husband has been in a catastrophic injury, only being kept alive for over nine years since being in explosion while on duty in the armed forces. Only three months before the start of the book did Kelsey take him off life support and he passed away peacefully. So Kelsey is not emotionally ready for a relationship. In addition, Pax knows her brother and his teammate and best friend, Pike, hero of the previous book in the series, would be overwhelmingly opposed to any kind of relationship.

But when the spoiled daughter of the new team owner comes on very strongly, he has to come with a reason to reject her that won't end in his being traded. He comes up with the fact that he has a serious girlfriend and when pressed for a name, he can only come up with Kelsey. He gets the OK from Kelsey and a very upset Pike for the fake dating. But of course, what with him already in love with her and Kelsey willing to explore a real relationship, feelings develop.

This tale has a few popular tropes; dating best friend's sister, fake relationship, hockey romance, friends to lovers, single mother and I quite enjoyed it. I was also in the mood for a shorter story so it worked for me on a number of levels. I thought both Pax and Kelsey were well written characters and this was just the right story at the right time. I continue to enjoy Brenda Rotherts books and in fact started her most recent book as soon as I finished reading this book.

Pax has a crush on his friend’s sister. The same sister who recently lost her husband who has been in a coma for years after an accident while in the military.
When the team owner’s spoiled rich daughter tries to get him to sleep with her, he says he has a girlfriend. Yep, you guessed it! He pretends Kylie is his girlfriend.
Meaning, now he has to face the music and tell both Kylie and Pike what he did. Good thing she agrees to be his fake girlfriend! Pike, on the other hand, is not happy. And he lets it be known. LMAO!!!
I thought these two were perfect together. I love how Pax is patient with her daughter Jasmine. He’s a great character with real depth.

This is book 3 in the series, but each story features a different couple and can be read on its own.

My favorite author. I don't care if single mother, sister to another player has been done before, Brenda's stories are the best characters, both good guys and bad (girls) guys.

Pax & Kylie ... all the emotions

If there is one thing I love about Brenda Rothert's books, it's the way in which she brings out all the emotions. PAX is book #3 in the Sin City Saints Hockey series, and it just became my favourite, her words were emotional and heartfelt from beginning to end. I became so involved and captivated by Pax Bishop and Kylie Thomas's story.

Pax is one of the tough guys in the NHL, yet he's also one of the sweetest ones too. Now he finds himself in an awkward position, the daughter of the new owner has taken a liking to him and won't leave him alone. In not so many words Pax tells her he already had a girlfriend, naming Kylie Thomas, his best friend's sister. What has he just done? Kylie hasn't really lived a life for the last six years, she's been caring for a husband who has been in a coma since he was injured during a deployment. She is now a widow raising her daughter and working as a CNA. When Pax tells Kylie and Pike what he has done Kylie is more than happy to go along with him. Will their fake relationship become to mean more to them?

Pax has had a crush on Kylie for quite a while, but she knows nothing of it. As they begin to spend more time together and get to know each other on a deeper level, fake slowly turns into something neither was expecting. The chemistry between them slowly simmered beneath the surface, but when it began to flourish, the sparks ignited, and the heat really picked up. I loved how sweet Pax is with Kylie and the way in which he ensures that he includes her daughter Jasmine in their budding relationship. Kylie was such a strong and feisty woman and could certainly hold her own in any situation.

PAX had my emotions running all over the place, I laughed and cried reading this amazing heartfelt story. I adored the friendship between Pax and Kylie, and the way in which it slowly evolved. Their story would have to be my favourite, and now I can't wait for more about these sexy hockey players.

I’m so excited Brenda Rothert has written another book for her “Sin City Saints” series. Anytime I can go back into the hockey romance world and it’s set in Las Vegas, I’m a happy reader. “Pax” is a fun, heartfelt and emotional story about second chances when you thought fate had given you your one shot.

Pax is one the toughest guys in the NHL with his height and built. When his coach announces one day that the Sin City Saints have a new owner, that shocks the team. But when the owner’s daughter aggressively hits on him, he says he has a girlfriend. And the first name out of his mouth is Pike’s sister, Kylie. Kylie has had a rough nine years because her husband had been injured while deployed. Now that he has passed, Kylie is working on a new career as a CNA and raising her daughter. But once she hears what happens with Pax, she agrees to be his fake girlfriend.

I loved how incredibly sweet and caring Pax is. While saying Kylie’s name might not have been the smartest choice at the moment, he dealt with it and did the best he could. And he did everything he could do to make her feel comfortable and to make sure her daughter never felt left behind. Kylie was an inspiration to read about how she did all she could for her late husband to make his final days easy. Kylie was a good sport about being his fake girlfriend. Pax and Kylie had a great friendship that turned into the chemistry that had been brewing underneath for awhile. That epilogue had me tearing up at the end, it was perfect. I hope we get more from the other Saints soon.

Sin City Saints Hockey

Pax Bishop has been playing pro hockey for 7 yrs and currently playing for the Las Vegas Saints. With his height and weight he's a giant in the hockey world and the highest paid defenseman on the team. Originally it was thought he would play basketball and follow in his dad's footsteps but he didn't want that.
The team finds out they have a new owner and along with that comes the owners daughter, Cassidy. She has hit on Pax and he tells her he has a girlfriend and when asked her name he says Kylie Thomas who is his teammate Pike's sister and the one he has crushed on since he met her.
Kylie is a 31 yr old widow and has a daughter, Jasmine. She works as a CNA in the facility where her husband had been after he got a traumatic brain injury from combat. She lost her husband after he had been in a coma and on life support for 6 yrs. Her brother Pike has helped her out so much and even relocated her, her daughter and mom to Las Vegas so they could be closer.
While at her brother's he tells her that Pax wants to talk to both of them and Pax tells them what happened with the owner's daughter. Pike and Pax are best friends but he's not happy about Pax fake dating his sister but Kylie said she would go along with it.
What starts out as faking dating turns into something more. But Pax has a lot of stuff to work through and of course Kylie has her daughter to worry about. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

I love Brenda Rothert’s books because of her wonderful characters. She has these super decent guys who find the woman of their dreams, and even though they might have been players before, they turn into devoted boyfriends. Such is the case with Pax. He had been smitten with Pike’s sister for some time, but was keeping his distance because she was married. Never mind that Kylie’s husband has been in a coma for six years, she was devoted to the care of her husband and Pax was respectful of that.

When the team’s new owner brings his daughter as the marketing director, the working environment in the arena turns hostile. She creates a toxic work environment, fires other women because they are prettier than her, and to make it worse, makes a crass advance on Pax, expecting him to service her in a sexual manner. Afraid of being traded off, he defends himself saying he has a girlfriend. Then he asks Kylie to be his fake girlfriend. And we can predict what happens next!

The story is straightforward, lovely and entertaining. I loved Pax who is a huge guy with very gentle hands. His devotion to Kylie also extends to her daughter Jasmine. They have several conflicts due to Jasmine’s insecurities. The story also includes Pax’s issues with his father who is a world renowned basketball legend. All this gives us a very well rounded book with family issues, team work, sports and sexy times. I read this in one day, it was such a great read!

Being the son of a famous basketball player has its expectations but that is a sport young Pax Bishop didn't want. Tired of living in his shadow hockey calls him and boy does he excel at this sport. He's so good at it that women want him and one in particular is adamant in having him. The thing is Pax is getting tired of one night stands and wants more like what his friends have but won't admit it openly. So it comes as surprise to his teammates he's dating Kylie Thomas. Now we have seen Kylie with her brother but Pax has been secretly in love with her for years. The thing is she is new into being single and though there is still heartache from her late husband Pax bides his time. Now Brenda Rothert sure knows how to make the romance bloom and seeing these two grow into their love was really sweet and patient. I loved seeing Kylie open up to new possibilities and boy everything about Pax is true in size and well in sports. The relationship she has with Pax makes her see there is still time for love and new beginnings and boy seeing Pax going into this relationship with open eyes was awesome. All in all the Sin City Saints Hockey series is not just filled with hot, passionate sports players but once they go in your heart there's no going back with these guys.

Wow, what a great emotional story, best one in this series so far! 5 hot hockey stars for this one!
Pax has changed his ways, worked hard to get where he is today, and it's not easy being the son of a hall of fame basketball dad, who's never been proud, or had time for him. The last thing he needs is the owners daughter sexually harassing him, so he tells her he has a girlfriend, his teammates sister Kylie, who just lost her husband three months ago. He's been crushing on her for a while, how bad could this be?
Kylie has been existing for the past eight years, since her husband Eric was injured while serving his country. If it weren't for their daughter Jasmine, she doesn't think she could have survived it. But now that he's gone, she wonders when is the right time to move on? When Pax tells her and Pike his plan, she goes along with it figuring it will help her prepare for the real dating world when she's ready, but she wasn't counting on catching feelings for him.
This story will pull at your heart strings, make you swoon and fall in love, but be prepared to have a tissue or two on hand just in case! I devoured this in one day because I simply didn't want to put it down! Grab this one asap!

Pax is a big man with an even bigger heart and he is just what Kylie needs when she wasn’t even looking for love. Pax looks to Kylie for some help to get him out of a work predicament. As you will see when the story unfolds that it works out in his favor -unexpectedly and beautifully. Pax secretly liked her for a long time but never told anyone because she was married. Kylie’s husband was unfortunately on life support for years after suffering an injury from serving in the military. Their story begins as a fake couple who are so in love with each other and end up discovering that those feelings become real. A couple of my other favorite characters in this book are Lyndon, who is one of her patients at the nursing home facility where Kylie works and Kylie’s mom, Linda. Lyndon is an old man with wise words that helps Kylie to see things in a different light. Linda is the mom whose grown children still listen to her when she reprimands them and she always knows the right way to handle situations. She is the family’s anchor. This is another book that has been excellently written leaving breadcrumbs that you can’t quit reading to find out what happens next!

Loving the Sin City Saints! And this 3rd book is the my favorite by far! Single mom, fake dating and teammate’s sister drama - what’s not to love!

We met Pax and Kylie in Pike’s book. Pax is Pike’s best friend - who has secretly crushed on Kylie for years - and Kylie is his little sister who has been to Hell and back over the last few years after losing her husband after him being in a coma for 8 years after a TBI sustained in combat.

Unfortunately the Saints have a new owner and almost immediately Pax has a situation with the owner’s daughter and sorta kinda told her he was involved with Kylie. When Kylie agrees to “help him out” her brother is livid. Even though Pax and Kylie agree to fake date could their feelings ever be real?

This book definitely has all the feels. Pax and Kylie - and Pike and Jasmine - have issues they will need to resolve to get to their happily ever after. And the Epilogue - oh my stars. I love epilogues and this one did not disappoint!

This book was definitely a 5 star read for me. It had everything I could ask for - love, forgiveness and redemption. Well done Ms. Rothert and I can’t wait until your next installment!

Be still my beating heart !!!
What can I say about Pax apart from this man has stolen a piece of my heart and I’m not sure I will ever get it back. This is hot hockey player Pax and single mum and widow Kylie’s emotional yet entertaining journey and I was drawn in from the first page and there was no putting down until the final word had been read. I knew this was a very special read as soon as I picked this book up and their story has stayed with me long after the final word was read.
Pax needs a fake girlfriend to save himself from the new owners daughter and the first name that comes into his head is his teammates sister Kylie but she should be off limits for many reasons and that should make fake dating safe..right…wrong….because what starts off as fake soon becomes so much more. I loved everything about this book, I fell hard and fast for Pax, I adored Kylie but what took this book to another level was the relationship Pax built with Kylie’s daughter. Wonderful read that ticked all my boxes .

I don’t see how anyone couldn’t fall in love with Pax. He may be a big man, but he also had a big heart to go with it. Pike who is Pax’s best friend had a sister, Kylie, whose husband was critically hurt when he was in the forces. I can’t imagine how it felt for Kylie to have her husband on life support for eight years and take care of her young daughter Jasmine. It was crazy that Pax had feelings for her before she ever decided to take her husband off life support, but he always tried to hide it. A new owner took over their team. It sure wasn’t for the best as he was a jerk, and worst of all he made his daughter marketing manager who sexually abused some of the players or at least tried. I loved that when she went after Pax, he blurted out he had a girlfriend and named Kylie. Kylie’s brother Pike wasn’t crazy about it, but Kylie agreed to be Pax’s fake girlfriend. Their time together was sweet as they got to know each other. This is a good book that I encourage you to read. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Pax by Brenda Rothert

I loved Pax! This was such a sweet one I loved every single moment of it. Pax has had this attraction for his friends sister from the moment he met her but kept it to himself out of respect to her late husband. Kylie is a widow trying to raise her doughy the best she can when Pax comes to her and asks her to be his fake girlfriend to get the new team owners daughter off his back. Kylie agrees and the fun begins. I absolutely loved Kylie she was so strong and witty as well as an amazing mom and person all around. Im sure you can imagine what can happen when two people pretend. I mean what can go wrong? Oh come on let me tell you it’s so good you must read it to find out it is so worth it. Because what ever your thinking we all know it’s going to happen and this is no exception for Pax and Kylie. As they get to know one another, the lines are most definitely crossed. I loved the journey these two embarked on and just know you will too. This story was emotional, sweet and romantic. A must read high recommend.

I find it ironic that Pike had such a problem with Pax being with his sister because of his past. He had no room to talk in my opinion he did way worse than Pax did.
I thought it was a bit overkill how the author kept repeating about how fit Pax was. His workout schedule on how he got to be so fit. Then the over the top outlandish size of his penis that he couldn't even have sex because he was so big. There goes the romance into porn.
Also what was up with Pax's parents. Throughout his whole life they were never there for him and even at 28 yrs old his father is still not happy with the decisions he has made with his career. Pax has resented him his whole life. Then we get to the epilogue and his father is amazing and doing all this charitable work that seems out of character from what the author had us believe throughout this book.
I must say I was a bit disappointed that it seems like this is the last book in this series because I really wanted to know Dane's story. He kept being brought up but no explanation as to why he is the way he is.

Brenda you have done it again 😍 love this series.

This is the 3rd book in A Sin City series and again a brilliant read.

Pax has a crush on his team mates sister and makes excuses not to go to parties at his house.  Kylie has just lost her husband who has been in a coma for years after an accident in the military 😪
The Saints hockey team gets taken over by new owners, Pax needs to think fast as Cassidy Croft the owners daughter had him in her sights, he tells her he is seeing someone and that someone is his team mates sister Kylie 😍
Pax let's Pike and Kylie know about the situation and she decides to go along with it, Kylie has be existing and not living over the past 8 years so she thinks this will prepare herself for when the time comes when she does start dating for real, but she did not expect to start having feelings for him ❤️
This is a beautiful story that keeps to reading from start to finish, you will not be disappointed.

Pax has proven the old saying - beware of those quiet ones. He knows how to hide all the emotion and steam just below the surface, keeping everyone guessing what is truly in his heart.
Pax has eyes for his best friends' sister Kylie. Pax needs a fake girlfriend and asks Kylie to help him out. Of course this leads to all kinds of trouble, he has to be sure to hide all his feelings while still trying to convince others they are dating and yet keep his best friend at bay because he is dating his sister. Pandemonium ensues as you can imagine.
Kylie is one of my favorite heroines as she is strong and able to hold her own in this world of hockey hotties. She is also a single mom who is instilling her wonderful character traits in her feisty daughter.
I love all the emotion and feels. Brenda Rothert has given Pax patience and a heart of gold. I feel he is worth the wait.

Loved it! Pax is the next book in the Sin City Saints Hockey series. This story is about Pax and Kylie. Pax is currently playing for the Las Vegas Saints. Kylie is the sister to Pax best friend and teammate. Pax has had this attraction for his friends sister from the moment he met her but kept it to himself. Kylie is a widow and a single mom, who works as an CNA at a trauma facility. So Pax comes up wiht this fake girlfriend scheme. So now he needs to talk to Pike and Kylie about it. These two were so perfect together. I love how Pax is with Kylie's daughter. What happens when real feelings get into this fake relationship? This story will pull at your heart strings, make you swoon and fall in love. Just to warn you will need to be prepared to have a tissue or two on hand just in case. These books pull you in and make you feel like you’re there. It's a MUST read! Keep up the amazing work!

Emotional and such a sweet connection! Brenda Rothert is delivering all the feels with the third book in her sexy Sin City Saints hockey series and I loved every minute of Pax and Kylie! The emotions are high, the healing is tender and the sexy connection between them had me hooked quickly.

Pax just might be my favorite Saint! He is dedicated to his game, but his past keeps coming back to bite him emotionally. When he allows his crush on Kylie to show, all bets are off and he's in it to win it.

Kylie is a sweetheart. She hasn't had it easy, but now that she's moved the fam to Vegas to be closer to her brother Pike, things are changing quickly .. she's just not sure she's ready!

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a fast paced hockey romance with a funny, yet supportive group of guys who are finding their forever one teammate at a time.

Brenda Rothert gets a hat trick with book three in the Sin City Saints Hockey series, PAX. Las Vegas Saints enforcer Pax Bishope has had a crush on his teammate Pike Morgan’s (Book two) sister, Kylie, since he met her. So, when the new owner’s daughter makes unwanted advances toward him, he blurts out that he is dating Kylie. Now he needs to ask Kalie to pretend to be his fake girlfriend, hope Pike doesn’t kill him, and pray the boss’ daughter backs off.

I like Kylie. She is a thirty-one-year-old widow. She is a single mother to a daughter, Jasmine. She has had a tough go of things and deserve happiness. Pax is a good guy. His father is a famous retired hall of fame basketball player. He has issues with his parents because he was raised by his nanny, driver, and security guards instead of his parents. He suffered a major loss in his life that enables him to relate to Kylie.

Brenda Rothert does a great job with this story. It is heartwarming and entertaining. I enjoyed the plot. I love the epilogue. There were interesting issues in the story, including: grieving and harassment. It was the perfect addition the Sin City Saints Hockey series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Pax is in love with his best friends sister. So when the team owner’s daughter starts coming on to him, he pretends that he has a girlfriend. And who’s name comes up but his best friends sister, Kylie. When he asks for her help, she agrees to be his fake girlfriend, but how will he keep his feelings to himself while pretending to be in a relationship with her…

I am loving this series. I haven’t read a lot of this authors works, but this series has me hooked. Kylie is an amazing person. She is a single mother and her little girl is a total hoot 😊 Pax was a total sweetie… I loved his interactions with Kylie’s daughter. All in all these two were total perfect for each other…😊 Looking forward to the next one in this series 😊
