Logan Moore is a shifter Deadend. Born unable to shift and with a dangerous family secret hanging over his head, he has hidden among humans, lived as a human, since his parents went missing when he was a child. Hiding, from the lion shifter clans and their cruel agendas. However, when his dormant shifter heritage is unleashed in the worst way after an abduction and revealed to an Alpha wolf shifter, the fallout from the incident may threaten not only Logan’s efforts of finding out what happened to his parents but also opens up countless opportunities to inadvertently expose his secret to the local shifter clans and worse, to the lions.
Sexy wolf shifter, Hunter Rivera, witnesses Logan’s awakening and offers to help him navigate what he thinks is Logan’s first exposure to shifter society. With his life and safety suddenly in turmoil and all leads on his parents at a standstill, the last thing he needs is the distraction and temptation Hunter’s presence and charming smile bring. To put down permanent roots, to find a mate and belong to a shifter clan has always been something he never thought he could have until meeting Hunter. A sliver of hope that’s soon in danger of being crushed when he learns that lion clan spies have infiltrated the city.
Can Logan risk opening his heart to Hunter for a chance at happily ever after with the weight of his secret and an impending lion clan invasion into their city looming over them both? And why does Hunter always change the subject when his brother is mentioned?
This is a steamy M/M paranormal romance with a HEA in a secret-from-humans A/B/O universe. Although mpreg can happen, it’s an extremely rare event and does not occur in this book. Each book in the series features a different couple, though all books are narratively connected and should be read in order.

I tried, but I am bored to tears. 120 pages in and almost nothing has happened. The writing is awkward, the dialog is awkward...time to put a pin in it.
This shifter story takes us down other paths that are not normally part of the shifter world. So there will be new discoveries for the reader, particularly if you read lots of shifter stories which each give their little twist to make them different.
Logan Moore was leaving the university library. He pulled his backpack from the car as he heard a scrape behind him. Suddenly his head was slammed into the doorframe and he fell to the ground. Someone began to drag him away from the car. When he tried to struggle, his head was slammed against the edge of something and he woke, hands and feet tied tightly, in the darkness of a car’s trunk. In no time at all, he couldn’t even feel his hands and feet anymore. Taken into the woods and thrown on the ground, his killer pulled out scissors to slowly cut his clothing to pieces. Logan knew his skin was next and, as his mind started to shatter, a horrible keening of despair came from his throat and something inside him broke loose.
Logan had been born a shifter but unable to shift, so he hid among the humans. With his attacker now trying to move away from him, Logan could suddenly see clearly in the darkness. He watched as two large paws slammed the man’s chest, claws pressing deep. The scent of blood had never smelled like this to Logan. And just before he went for the man’s throat, something huge struck his side and a huge black wolf stood between Logan and the man who had kidnapped him. As the black wolf stood there, the man ran off into the trees. The wolf turned into a man and tried to calm Logan as he asked him to shift back so they could talk. When Logan’s mind was his own again, he backed up in terror, turned and ran away. He had revealed himself to an Alpha wolf shifter. What would he do if the lions ever found out about him?
Hunter Rivera witnessed Logan’s awakening. But there is much more he is unaware of. Logan had never considered the possibility of finding a mate and belonging to a shifter clan. But the sliver of hope disappears when he finds his greatest fear has happened -- lion clan spies have come into the city. Can he run? Or is he doomed?
This book kept me interested past the time I was supposed to go to bed because I really enjoyed it. Logan is unable to shift even though he was born to shifter parents. One night he is the victim of a traumatic attack and he shifts into a wolf. Hunter, an alpha wolf shifter, sees the shift happens and tries to befriend Logan in order to help learn how to cope with being a shifter. Logan is going through other issues and he does not want to have anything to do with Hunter although he finds him very attractive. Hunter is persistent in wearing Logan down and soon the two men develop feelings for each other. But Logan’s issues become very apparent. Someone is trying to capture him and another group is trying to take over the territory from Logan’s pack. I will read the next book in the series.
Fear is a great motivator. Logan, doesn't shift. He lives in the human world, undiscovered. When he was a child, his parents went missing. So he was adopted and lived as a human with lots of secrets. He was kidnapped and about to be murdered, when he finally shifted, it was an unexpected abrupt awakening. That is when Hunter entered his life and shared with him a lot of new realities. Can Logan adjust to the reality of the rules of shifterworld? Does Logan ever find his parents? There is a lot of species shifter drama and politics. Logan serves as a catalyst of complex conflicts. Can Hunter manage the drama? Great story. Nice start to a series. Lotsa great potential for more stories. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a fantastic start to a new series! There are unique elements here: lions as evil, power hungry tyrants; shifter geneticists; a different take on pack and clan structure; and Polyshifters. The characters are well thought out and intriguing; the works vibrant and alive. Come. Follow Logan and Hunter. Secrets will be unveiled, revelations will come to light, loyalty, friendship and courage will be tested. And the sex will be off the charts hot. This story continues. So it's a happily for now. You will love this book! If the next one is half as good, we are in for a treat.
This is a great book that I found really compelling to read. Logan and Hunter’s story is the romance at the heart of this book but there is a very interesting overarching story about shifters going missing that I don’t want to say too much about because I could give things away. Let’s just say it’s written very well although I have read books with this basic concept before. C.G. Rayne adds some interesting twists and with some great plotting has produced a terrific story. I can’t wait to read the next one to find out more about what happens. Enjoy.

I liked A Wolf's Secret by C.G. Rayne. It's the first book in the Southern Shifter Clans series. I liked how the author gave us little bits of background along the way as the story unfolds. I liked the chemistry between Logan and Hunter, and I look forward to seeing how their relationship progresses as they continue to look for Logan's bio parents. The book does end with some loose ends, and I look forward to reading the next book to see if Maxim's mate-to-be, Anna, makes it through surgery and what info is found at the Amarillo ranch.

There were several things that just didn’t make sense
If the lions are so universally despised by those not under their control, why don’t the other shifters band together? Why don’t they work to become guerrilla assassins and take the fight to the lions? It certainly sounds like there are a lot more other shifters than there are lions…
Is the lion’s takeover only happening in North America? Only in the US? Or is it world wide?
How did any of the cars, including the one that Logan arrived in, secretly drive away if the shifters had overwatch? And if they didn’t, why not?!
I’m not sure how to rate this book. First of all, I did mostly enjoy it. I liked the characters, they’re enjoyable if a little shallow, they’re what drove the story for me. For being nearly 500 pages it felt like the story was extremely rushed. Everything happened so fast at the end, and only a small part of Logan’s story has a conclusion.
There is also a lot of world building done in an extremely broad sense. Nothing is explained in enough detail, which leaves you wanting more, and I’m not sure it will come.
Conclusion if you’re just here for the spicy content, it’s done well enough, the characters you get to know are enjoyable enough, otherwise, it’s just fine.
It was a pleasant experience reading this shifter series starter. Logan's and Hunter's story livens up the old shifter story a bit with a twist on Logan's identity and I'm so into it. I'm very eager to see how the rest of the series plays out with the mystery and intrigue that was started in this book.

Keeps you on your toes! One who is born a shifter and unable to shift and another who is willing to help him control his wolf. Really entertaining. Full of excitement from start to finish. An interesting twist from my usual shifter stories. Logan and Hunter were a riveting match made in shifter heaven.

Wow, that's the feeling I was left with after finishing this book. Logan and Hunter are both interesting characters. Logan's ability was a very interesting take on shifting and it made the story more interesting. Hunter's alphaness was just enough while not being too much. The story itself kept me wanting tonread more and more. The twists the turns all of it was engaging and fun to read.
I absolutely loved this book! Great world building. Shifters in this book are a bit different from what I usually find in stories, so I really enjoyed it. The story hooked me from the start. Wonderful characters. The book was very well written and well paced. An excellent start of a new series. I recommend it and am very much looking forward to the next book. 5 stars.
Logan is a shifter but has never sifted. He's taken by a serial killer and he's so terrified he sifts into a wolf and has no control over the wolf. Hunter is a wolf shifter and stops Logan from killing the serial killer and says he'll help him learn how to control his wolf. Logan and Hunter start to care for each other but Logan has a secret that could tear them apart. I really enjoyed this book.
A Wolf's Secret was a riveting, non-stop action-packed paranormal, shifter story from the beginning to the end. I just hated the cliff-hanger when I thought I was so close to the resolution of the final story arc. But this was so worth the read! I can't wait for the next book.

I've put this on my "cliffhanger" shelf although, to be fair, it wasn't the romance that really had a cliffhanger. It's just one of those books that seems to follow the trend in omegaverse for an overarching series plot. Overall, I'd say it hovers between a 3.5 star and a 4 star for me. Definitely enough to continue with the series!
This was way more compelling than I expected. The mythos of the world is pretty fascinating and I can't wait to read more about what the lions are up to. I'm not usually a huge fan of the whole ABO thing, but the way it was handled in this book was pretty intriguing (I appreciate that Logan's reaction to mpreg was much like mine).
Really good storyline but the delivery is quite clunky. It doesnt flow as well as it could, some sentences structure is a little off and hard to follow
