Daylen Hoda is a wicked wolf. He’s done the unforgiveable at his Alpha’s order, and now he must face the life he used to have. Coming home should feel like a comfort, but Daylen isn’t the same werewolf anymore. Two years ago, he was pulled away from his Colorado territory by his Pack, and he left someone important behind. Denver has been his best friend and safe place for as long as he can remember, but he knows exactly how she will react if she finds out what he’s done. She can’t find out. She can’t know. She can’t realize what a monster he’s become, or he will lose the only thing that makes sense. The Pack is falling apart, his Alpha is retiring and he’s up next to lead the werewolves in this territory. Daylen isn’t sure of much anymore, but this he knows—he isn’t ready to be the Alpha. Not until he fixes all the things he’s broken, including his friendship with Denver. The problem with that? She’s not the same girl he left behind anymore.
Denver Mosely is a loyal fox. Two long years have passed since her best friend, Daylen, left the territory without an explanation, and when he blows back into town unexpectedly, he’s unfamiliar. His wolf side isn’t acting right, the man in him has changed, and he’s doing his best to avoid her. But why? She was here in his territory, making sure his den was taken care of, and waiting for the day she would get some answers to his disappearance. New Daylen doesn’t give any answers, and it’s up to Denver to pry his recent past from him. What can be so bad that a man hides this thoroughly for so long? New Daylen is edgier, darker, very handsome and has a new set of scars on his outsides and insides that draw Denver’s attention, and stirs up feelings she’s never had for her friend before.
Friends, lovers, enemies—the lines get extremely blurred in this first book of T. S. Joyce’s brand-new series, The Wolves of Promise Falls. Not all monsters are unsalvageable.
Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences.
T.S. Joyce is devoted to bringing hot shifter romances to readers. Hungry alpha males are her calling card, and the wilder the men, the more she'll make them pour their hearts out. She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.
She lives in a tiny town, outside of a tiny city, and devotes her life to writing big stories. Foodie, bear whisperer, ninja, thief of tiny bottles of awesome smelling hotel shampoo, nap connoisseur, movie fanatic, and zombie slayer, and most of this bio is true.
Bear Shifters? Check Smoldering Alpha Hotness? Double Check Sexy Scenes? Fasten up your girdles, ladies and gents, it's gonna to be a wild ride.
This book is set around the screwed up Wolf pack from the last series. Daylen (werewolf who forcibly turned a human) is back home and festering in his wounds. Not even trying to lick them, because he believes he deserves every bad thing to happen to him. And his best friend, a fox shifter who's been missing him for two years, just wants to know what she did to push him away. This was a pretty powerful book, and the jacked up situation within the pack had no easy answer. I honestly had no idea how this could end without a total poop fest, but it does. It's messy, and the characters are indecisive, but I loved it. I super hope the next book is Stark and Lyndi, because that would be awesome.
This author keeps surprising me. This story was great. Loved how she redeemed the H, his vulnerability was heartbreaking. The h was feisty and positive and strong. The scene with the orange tan was hilarious and then turned so hot🔥🔥. A great book!

I'll start by saying I'm a big fan of Joyce, and I've read more of her books than any other shifter author, but this was kind of disappointing.
Daylen and Denver were best friends growing up and then two years ago he left without a word. When the book begins, he's back in town, but when Denver goes to see him, she gets warned off by his mother, the pack alpha, and he gets ordered by the alpha to stay from Denver as well. However, Daylen starts trying to contact Denver again, and they end up realizing they want to be together.
I had a few issues with this book. First, I didn't really care much about either main character. They were both kind of boring, and Daylen didn't really do anything to prove that he was worth being in a relationship with after leaving with no contact. There really wasn't any relationship building in here at all. We were just supposed to believe they had a super strong connection left over from their friendship, but I couldn't buy into it. And the one sexual encounter in here? Total snooze-fest. Probably the worst I've seen in a Joyce novel.
Second, there are a lot of things that seemed inconsistent to me. I haven't read the Oath of Bane series yet, so I didn't read about what happened with Ruby and Daylen in How It Needed to Be, but based on this one and what I read in the precis for that one, I think it's pretty clear. Daylen says that he didn't have any choice in what he did in that one because he was commanded by his alpha and apparently werewolves have to do things they are ordered to do, like they lose control of their body and it just happens. But the first order he's given by his alpha in this book is to stay away from Denver, and he contacts her less than an hour later...and goes to see her face to face within a day. So if it was so easy to ignore that order, why the f was it so hard to ignore one that actually did harm to someone? Seems weird.
Then, they make a big deal about how a werewolf can only mate once for life....except for Daylen? It's never really explained how he was able to do this. And honestly, this whole thing opens a whole other can of worms. Again, I haven't read How It Needed to Be, so maybe it's explained better there or something, but did Tessa specify to make Ruby his mate or just turn her? If it was just to turn her, then couldn't he have just bitten her without being mates, like Easton did to Willy? And if he did make her his mate, don't they need to have sex as well? So did he rape Ruby, then? Sometimes Joyce adds in things about mate "rules" and then changes them, and it gets confusing. I swear in one of the Saw Bears books, it's said that once mated, a shifter can't be attracted to another woman, but then we find out about Bruiser's lineage, which blows that all to crap. And in this one we have werewolves can only mate once to "haha just kidding, whatevs." It bothered me.
And finally, why on earth would Tessa just give up being pack alpha? It was the weirdest thing ever, and it happened off page and was just glossed over with a short conversation between Denver and Daylen. If she was giving up being alpha, then why would she then go on to care whether Denver was allowed into a pack THAT SHE WASN'T IN ANYMORE! It made absolutely no sense. Did she think Stark and Marsden would vote her back in after that? When they always disagreed with her about kicking Daylen out? Made no sense at all. Added to that, more should have been done if she was supposed to be the "big bad" in this. One little scene with the guys thinking she might harm Denver and then one actual confrontation. And that's it. Not enough buildup. By the time Tessa actually confronts Denver, I'd mostly forgotten about her already.
The only bright point in this book for me was Stark. Now, he's a great character. I can't wait for his story. Although, another odd thing in this one is how it took Daylen five freaking years to figure out Stark was on his side. Perhaps both characters were written completely differently in the other book or something, but none of Daylen's animosity made sense in this one.
I still like Joyce's writing, and she can make good characters. This installment just felt kind of phoned-in to me.
This one started out slow for me, but quickly picked up once Daylen started talking to Denver and realizing that the 2 wolves he was left with were always in his camp. I loved that Denver made Daylen realize that the pack will be what he makes it, something he didn't stop to consider.
As always the writing is fantastic with angsty shifters and an awesome h. Her belief in the H is the key for him to find his way forward. She's really the hero of the story and I loved it. Except for my personal dislike of alliteration of names - Daylen and Denver, yuck!
The Fall of Promise is a new book in a spin off series of the Oath of Bane and features a Wolf shifter, Daylen and a fox shifter, Denver😍I really enjoyed this story, it took me a little bit to remember Daylen but I’m so happy he found his mate and could be the wolf he was meant to be❣️
This is one of those many, many times where four stars ✨ feels like to much and three stars ✨ feels too few. I liked it but I’m so not happy with it . I liked Daylen and Denver ( though I loathe this name for a woman) ( what do you call her “Den” for short ?) ( I think maybe when it comes to foxes 🦊 she feels compelled to name them after a state like her other fox Nevada who was with Nox,wait I just noticed both pairs have names that both start with the same first letter and almost rhyme) ( huh? 🤔 ) ( or a city like here) strange. Anyway I liked them ok separately and I loved them together. But I didn’t feel like we got nearly enough time with them together. Day spends the first quarter + of the book pushing her away, then slowly starts just allowing himself to be around her but still pushing her away if she started to really make progress getting close again. Then he gets jealous, really jealous about the thought of her with someone else ,let’s her in some more ,then next thing you know they’re mated. And your like wooooohooooo! Yeah! So happy for them. One minute he’s pushing ,then he’s pulling her in ,mated, she’s pulled his wolf back and we’re all happy and wanting to celebrate! She goes out with him, sings,he’s reconnecting with the two guys and it’s looking great. That’s just one chapter though. We start the next on a high,it’s supposedly been a week now ( all off page) and it’s been the happiest of her life. Day calls saying he’s got good news ,he’s been chatting to her fam and has supposedly gotten things there in a better place as well! Day is being a good good mate/male. So happy for Den! Then the terrible ex alpha /monster that is Day’s mother shows up and blows everything to hell. They’ve supposedly now ONLY had one good week and that was all off page ,so all really get of them truly being mated and together is ONE night before it’s all blown to hell. Then we have that rest the chapter with Den fighting the B Tessa ( mother) with a now broken heart 💔. Then after a few words from Day she runs off with our letting him explain. Then she miserable and only goes to see because her sister pushes. She and he talk. They kinda make up but it hugging and her crying ,then them going off to Montana so he can’t make apologies. Supposedly they “reconnect “ on the way there and back but again it’s all off page 📄. Then they come back tell the guys they’ll be a pack now and go off to have hotdogs . The End. I’m telling you all this to explain why I feel cheated. It feels like they take awhile to reconnect and then once they really do it’s over before they’ve started good and most of their time together is spent off page where we don’t get to see it . I’m very unsatisfied. It felt like we spend more time watching them try to get together or get back together then we actually get to see them actually “together “. Four stars ✨ for y’all but only three for me. TLDR: Too much promise with not nearly enough fulfillment.
Loved Daylen & Denver!❤️. While this is a spin-off of the Oath of Bane series, & I know it’s supposed to be stand alone, you REALLY need to read the last book in the Oath of Bane series to get the full story. This book does a great recap, which never seems redundant to the reader whose already read last book…kudos to TSJ for that AMAZING skill!! But to truly appreciate what a talent this author has of redeeming a seemingly unredeemable character, you really should read Oath of Bane #8. If ever we were to hate a main character, this is it as Daylen does the unthinkable in Oath #8, which lead to the heroine in that story to almost die. That’s a hard road to come back from, yet we instantly fall in love with Daylen and Denver and completely root them on.
While this series spin-off is just getting started, I’m curious to see if the villain from this book makes a reappearance. I did feel like she gave up way to easily, both from stepping down as pack leader and then by trying to destroy the new pack leader (Daylen). I also was monstrously disappointed at the lack of steam in this story. For a TSJ book, I expected MORE 🔥. While I’ll definitely be grabbing up the next book (because you will be already VERY invested in the next to MC to NOT read the next book!😉), I wish this series was a touch more steamy, like many other TSJ books.
A wolf Daylen and fox Denver have known each other since they were kids and became best friends until 2 years ago when Hayden did the unthinkable, he went away without so much as a goodbye and never even answered Denver's calls, or texts... Denver is a very hurt fox, so why does that awful wolf think he can come waltzing back into her life like nothing has happened?? Problem is Daylen has sprouted in the past 2 years and Denver's fox is doing a happy dance inside of her.
Daylen feels like he isn't deserving of anything, especially his best friend's forgiveness, problem is Denver has filled out and she is just gorgeous and his mate to boot.....Who would have thought after so many years of friendship? Now he also has to make do with a pack of 3 of which 2 are crazy loons!
I had a lot of laughs reading this book, I even purchased the next in the series because I just have to read crazy Starks story.
I enjoy these books from T S Joyce. The storylines are always deeply emotional and thoughtful. This book is no different. The only criticism that I have is that I felt that so much happened off page and I would have really wanted to know the relationship between Tessa, the mom and alpha to her pack, and her two sons Vange (sp) and Daylen. The basic premise is that the alpha had a favorite son Vange and her was not good in some ways. Her other son Daylen was totally different and his mom, Tess, discarded him like he was less than a person. When the pack lost the favorite son, they hurt and Tess went overboard. Daylen had to pay the ultimate price. He had to give up Denver, who had been his BFF since childhood. Denver has always loved Daylen. The drama starts there. Read On!
A backwards paranormal romance that will leave your heart fluttering. TS Joyce starts a new series, The Wolves of Promise Falls, with some crossover characters, in The Fall of Promise, book 1.
The heartbreak of losing your best friend, without knowing why, lays heavily on Denver. a fox shifter. When Daylen reappears after two years, it becomes apparent that there are more than best friend ‘vibes’ tee-hee, I said vibes. lol) happening here. Her fluttering heart and streaky-cheekies change this game!
Daylen is a pure mess. He is broken, but may still have a chance when his unexpected, and changed, best friend provides just what his MIA wolf may need to head up this seriously messed up and crazy packs’ needs.
It's been a while since I last picked up a book by T. S. Joyce - she was my first paranormal romanxe author, and just like the very first of hers I read, this one gave me all the feels.
The Fall Of Promise is the same in feels as all of T. S. Joyce's stories, filled with humor drama, sweetness and shifter goodness. Like all her books this was a fast and easy read, filled with enough elements to keep the story interesting and enthralling, without going overboard. It actually made me want to reread the whole collection of Damon's Mountains because of the nostalgic feels it gave me.
"He’d succeeded. He’d made her a home. And for as long as she lived, she was going to make sure he had a home, too."
I would highly recommend anything T. S. Joyce has written. Her stories are full of heart with a little smut and a lot of cuss words thrown in for spice. They are shorter reads, so you're not stuck wondering if the story is ever gonna end. I titled my review "Before you read this series" because you meet characters from a previous Joyce series The Oath of Bane throughout The Wolves of Promise Falls series. The Fall of Promise is Daylen and Denver's story. You get the story of Daylen and his packs past in book 8 of The Oath of Bane, which is Divar and Ruby's story. You don't have to read The Oath of Bane series before The Wolves of Promise Falls series, but it helps explain who some of the extra characters you'll meet are.
I love T.S. Joyce's books and this one falls right in with all of the others. Daylen has returned but he and his wolf are different. Denver is a fox shifter and has been Daylen's best friend since they were kids. He and his pack have been gone for two years and during that time she didn't hear from him once. She was ecstatic to see him again but he deliberately kept his distance. But the draw between them couldn't be ignored no matter how hard he tried. Their friendship turned into so much more but they had to deal with the past first before they could have a future. Loved the characters and the story.
All of Ms. Joyce’s books tend to be fast, fluffy reads that balance humour and sexiness in a way that makes for a nice read. However, the Bane series and this continuation are a bit if a departure from her earlier works and are more in line with her latest series about Bull shifters, crocodiles, etc.
I genuinely laughed that someone born and raised in Colorado would be named Denver. And Daylen’s name is such a ridiculous spelling that it took me out of the book every single time.
On the upside, this book was far less violent on the downside, there wasn’t much emotional catharsis.
New series but follows after other series, Tessa was the alpha wolf but a little crazy and controlling of her two sons. one now dead and her sick she has to hand over alpha to the son who was more loyal to a female fox since childhood (but they was only ever best friends) see other series to see him bite Rudy.(He never wanted to but it was a alpha command) now back home and having a broken wolf he has to face his best friend Delven. I love this author her humour is hilarious but think she messed up on the naming the two main leads.two boyish names and to much alike. Best but when he becomes alpha and teller her about it so funny. More books please faster.
The Wolves of Promise Falls book 1. I absolutely adored this book. Loved these characters. I read the series out of order but it still was a fabulous read. Daylen and Denver were friends since childhood. When Daylen left without saying goodbye it left a hole in Denver. Time passes and Daylen comes back and is set to become alpha. As they fall for each other they battle several issues: rules on both shifter sides, past hurts, lies, her parents and his crazy wolf mom on level 10. This book is filled with big turns, high drama, angst and hope. You will laugh and cry. BTW, Stark steals a bunch of scenes.
I can not recommend this author's books anymore than I already do. Her books may be short, but are always filled with lots of action, feelings and smexy times. Always expect tears, and laughter. This book is about a good person forced to do bad things and how it could destroy them in the end, if they don't have good people around them in the most unlikely places. Like other reviewers mentioned, it isn't necessary to read the Oath of Bane series, but makes more sense if at least the last book is read to know what Daylen went through. I actually re-read it just before startin this one, since it had been awhile. Look forward to the next book in this series. Well worth your time and $$.
The start of a new (spin-off) series. Aaahhhhh.... Breathe deep y'all...here we go!
I'm in love with this new set up. I love building up a new crew, finding the pieces that fit the puzzle. I can't decide if Stark is the Beaston of this crew or the Clinton....or both. Both is good. This book literally made me laugh out loud in several spots. I'm usually crying and grinning my way through Alpha's books, but this one just hit me and had me rolling.
Can I just say how badass Denver the fox shifter was!!!! She literally was no joke and she was not playing when it came to her boo Daylen. She fought traditions, mean alpha mamas, and the man himself for him. She was everything, and I loved how she set that bon fire in his front yard!!🤣🤣🤣 that was hilarious!!! This book was great! We saw the evolution of friends turned lovers, broken souls merging as one, and enemies (or not) turned into loyal friends. Great job T.S Joyce!!!
Every time I finish a series by TS Joyce, I'm a little bummed out that it's over. I always fall in love with the characters she creates! Her books always have me laughing, crying and totally excited about what comes next! This series is no exception. I loved this story and the characters. Some of them were brought over from other stories, which always makes me happy. What I enjoy most about this author is the way she takes you through a whirlwind of emotions in short time. In the end, you're always happy for the ride!
Starting to guess the end off all t.s.joyce book. This book could of been a lot better. More action on what happened to daylen when he was away from Denver. Could of gone into more detail on what happens when a wolf of commanded by there alpha to mate with someone they didn’t pick what the bond are like to a love bond. Yes I guess it would end with Denver and daylen but could of been a lot better it was well written but found it kinda boring. I’m normally a massive fan of t.s.joyce I hope the other books in this set are better.
Denver talks like she’s a teenager and not a 30 year old woman. Don’t get me wrong, there were some pretty touching and sweet moments in this book but the timelines were off so badly. Daylan was gone for 2 years. That means he was 28 when he left. But, it is made out to seem like they were kids when he left. The story itself is superficial. Momma Alpha as the big bad is a bit predictable and really has no teeth to it. Overall, could have been more focused on character development - and get a better editor.
This book has Daylen, the wild from the last series who turned Ruby, and his childhood best friend finding romance. She helps him from spiraling after he turned a human on his Alpha’s orders. He comes back home to try and rebuild his life and his best friend is there to help him. Can’t wait for the next book. Cameos from a couple of people (Ruby and Divar)
This was the first book in the series and it was so good. Of course if you've ever read anything by T. S. Joyce, that's what you'd expect. I've read everything she's written and each book is just as good as the one before it. Her writing style is good, the story lines the banter between the characters everything just flows and makes you want to be where the characters are. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series.
