Patrick Smite is now following in his father's footsteps as the sheriff of Donn, TX. His sister, Laura, is worried he won't be able to do all the job requires. For while he believes he can keep the town safe, she knows the awful truth: they must honor the family’s obligation to The Pale Man, no matter the cost.
Danielle Kipler is on the run. The Pale Man in her dreams promised her sanctuary. The only thing required is her undying allegiance. But is she prepared to make the necessary sacrifices to become a citizen of Donn, TX?
Years ago, a pact was made that requires payment in blood. For in the end, all that matters is the harvest.
I'm an indie Horror writer who lives deep in the heart of Texas. When I'm not writing novels and stories for anthologies, I'm doing the bidding of 3 adorable huskies. I've been married for over 20 years and have a teenager in the house, so I won't be running out of horror material for quite some time.
The PaleMan, Scarecrow, and the crows return to Donn, TX. It's time for another harvest. Luckily, a band travels into town with a woman, who is being chased by her fiance and father. Meaning there are many out-of-towners to meet the harvest quota. One curious plotline was the local doctor, one who also sold her soul in exchange of her vanity, was called for to help a wounded out-of-towner. Why would you request medical attention when you know their fate is to be part of the harvest? The story continues, questions are answered, and there's some pretty deep character development of a Sheriff following in his father's footsteps. This is another great installment of the series, with quite a few gore scenes, even one that made me cringe. 'Remove the source'. LOL
In this installment of Donn, TX, Officer Smite has the unfortunate job of continuing his fathers legacy, in trying to protect the inhabitants of Donn and ensuring a certain grisly quota is met in time! There are, of course, some familiar (but not so familiar 😉) faces in this one, and another group of newcomers, (we all know what happens to newcomers right. .?) Once again the atmosphere was eerie and tense, with lots of blood, brutality, crows, (so many crows!) and supernatural elements. This series was absolutely fantastic, I honestly could...not...put...it...down! I read the whole series, back to back, in just a few days. The stories continue to get better and better and this last one was the best and most brutal yet!
I cant wait for more in this series and would love to find out what happens if you DONT meet the The Scarecrows gruesome quota!
An epic tale, earning another 5/5 creepy cornfields from me! 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
The plot thickens! Not much else I can say as this is the forth book in the series, so if you haven’t read it yet. Well you best get on it! Off I am to book five!
Let’s get deathly serious and talk about DONN, TX 2002 by Eric Butler.
Patrick Smite is the new Sheriff since his Dad died and he has big shoes to fill and pacts to uphold. When his time is running out to fulfill his town’s end of the bargain, no one is safe from the darkness that lives in the corn and has for centuries.
Dani is on the run from her life of servitude to a man she doesn’t love and sure in the hell doesn’t trust. When her soon to be husband and her Dad come to Donn, TX to find her, the evil will consume.
The latest installment of Donn, TX comes in at 188 pages, making it the longest to date. And let me tell you, it’s the best, hands down. Butler doesn’t play when it comes to the gore, brutality, death count, or intertwining of plot lines. He easily interweaves numerous characters with different plot points like it’s as simple as sneezing. He makes it effortless. We all know how I feel about Butler, so when he asked if I wanted to read this one early, I thought, “He really doesn’t want kneecaps in 2022.” But, he has redeemed himself… for now. No kneecaps will be harmed for the foreseeable future.
Available NOW on Amazon I would advise you to pick this one up without delay.
I don't know how Butler does it. We have the same setting, a creepy isolated weird-as-hell town in the middle of Nowhere-Ville-Texas. We have the same baddies; The Scarecrow, The Paleman, The Crows, and well let's be honest here, the people of Donn, Tx themselves. Yet, the story changes every time. New elements are added, weaved within the stories so cleverly, you don't ever feel that Butler is just trying to fluff his work.
His writing as a whole is just effortless to read, even as you wade through the carnage he leaves behind. I think the true magic of this series is that it can truly be read in any order as each harvest is a self-contained story of mayhem itself.
Whilst reminiscent of 80's slasher/horror movies Butler adds whole new layers of creep. Nothing is straightforward in Donn, Tx. Excellent concept and brilliantly done.
I really love this series. Each one gets better and better. The author has truly created a terrifying world. And each story creates more questions that I need answered. I really hope that this series continues on.
I received this as a free code. I was thinking it would be something quick to pass the time. I was happily surprised. It's a quick story that doesn't hesitate to grab you and hold your attention. Now to go back to the other books in the collection
Just when I thought I couldn’t be drawn into Eric Butler’s fictional world of Donn, TX he blows my mind with the latest entry! Eric has carved out a world all his own, expanding the depth of the story with each entry, and doing so in an engaging and captivating style. I very much think that Butler’s Donn, TX series would make a fantastic television series!
Donn, TX 2002 by Eric Butler is a book that is hard to put down. Well, all of the entries are really. Eric expertly intertwines the stories together in a manner that makes them completely cohesive. Butler’s penmanship is second to none, and his prose infiltrates the brain putting you in the thick of Donn, TX!
Donn, TX 2002 is a story of a traveling band attempting to make a name for themselves. Billy, Johnny, Kyle, and Marcie end up picking up an exe of Billy’s saving her from an unwanted marriage. Her name is Danielle or Dani. Now with Dani on board Kyle becomes an awkward third wheel to the party. At least they have been offered a nice rest at a motel not far away. Dani’s treat as well.
As the group enters Donn, TX they stop for a meal, chat with some locals, and head to the motel to check in. Simultaneously, the bride’s groom and party are on the hunt for Dani. Not to mention the darkness that the harvest brings. The group is in the eye of the storm. Do they have any chance before the harvest ends?
Butler goes above and beyond with this entry. I feel that they continue to be better and engrossing reads. Eric’s attention to detail is sharp as the razor’s edge. As new faces come to Donn, TX Eric weaves the old with the new. Professionally mixing the colors, applying the layers, and fleshing out an even bigger picture.
All in all, I have to give Donn, TX 2002 by Eric Butler five sickles out of five black chokers! I cannot pick my favorite entry of this series, because they are all so incredibly written. With each entry I feel more vested in the town, people, and ties to the past. I absolutely love the fact that the series is perfectly cohesive. With Butler revealing revelations at the perfect moment! ALL of the Donn, TX books are must reads for horror fans. Butler writes small town horror with as much precision as the greats. The entire series has been one of my favorite reads of 2022, I did reread a couple to refresh for the new entries, and the series has also made it onto the list as one of my favorite books of all time.

*Audiobook* ANOTHER fantastic installment in the Donn, TX series! I can’t tell you how much I’m loving this series and the small-town horror vibe is perfection! The intricate weaving of plot and characters across generations is truly awesome and I’m in awe of each story! The fact that they can still be read and enjoyed in any order is also a Herculean feat and I’m impressed beyond words. Give this series a read - you will NOT be disappointed.
Ok, we definitely start to see more recurring characters in this entry, some we’ve seen in earlier stories. I love knowing how they are connected to the cornfield.
Anna and Jane are my favourite characters for sure!
Some parts were a little unclear to me, like what is Dani’s significance? So hopefully there are more stories that take place after 2002.
Another incredibly frightening, hard to put down, trip to the small town of Donn. I certainly hope that Mr. Butler would be willing to take us there one more time, (although hopefully not in person 😬)in the future......or the past .
This is another incredible book in the Donn, TX series. As much as I've enjoyed all the others, this one will definitely stand out in my mind. Eric Butler Author had me hooked from the first page. I found myself thinking about all the characters while I was at work, and wondering who was going to be standing at the end. I cant wait to see what else this series will have to offer.
This is for the entire four book series. This series was extremely well-written Nd plotted. I highly recommend it. A great plot from its Civil War roots to the modern gensration. Great world building through multiple generations.
