Corina Douglas lives in New Zealand with her husband and four kids. If she's not running her indie editing business, Burning Legacies Publishing, she can be found exploring the forest, doing that stretchy yoga thing, or with her nose in a good book.
She writes dark fantasy romance stories based on Celtic mythology, with a special focus on Scottish, Irish, and Welsh folklore. Her stories are full of emotional punch, fast-paced action, and morally grey heroes.
Corina has done it again! She has a gift in transporting you into the world of Celtic fantasy. A world with magic, power, romance and deep, intriguing relationships. Every character has so much depth and personality, you can't help but love the heroes and loath the villains. Winter Solstice takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride from love to disgust to sympathy to victory and everything in between. If you haven't already started the Daughter of Winter series, this will be a great indication if it'll be your cup of tea, if you have started this is another great read that provides more back story - either way it's a highly recommend!
recieved an ARC copy of this book and are leaving a voluntary review." Winter solstice is an amazing book by Corina Douglass. I can picture each character in my mind. Romance, Celtic mythology, traditions. You learn new things about holiday traditions! I highly recommend this book.
Winter Solstice is a beautifully written fantasy romance novel. When the book ended, I wanted more. The synergy between Tritus and Cal is undeniable. A definite page-turner, filled with love, romance, adventure and intrigue!
Being Irish, I enjoy author Douglas's stirring tales focused on Celtic myth and legend. This latest book is a complement to her wonderful Daughter of Winter series.
The story features Cailleach, Celtic goddess of winter, and her quasi-human lover, Tritus. Not for nothing is this book billed as a steamy fantasy romance for adults. Douglas writes in evocative detail about the powerful physical and emotional bond linking these star-crossed lovers.
Tritus wants to celebrate the winter solstice. He hopes to entice Cailleach to join him at a nearby village for the festivities. But the settlement holds a darker secret that Tritus can't ignore.
I enjoyed this well-written companion novella. I'm sure it will appeal to anyone who enjoys spicy fantasy romance, especially set in the legendary past where myth and reality are hard to tell apart. Nicely done, author!
I have been looking forward to reading Winter Solstice for months and it did not disappoint.
Compelling storytelling, strong yet vulnerable characters and gorgeous descriptive writing that makes the scenes come alive, almost as if you are actually there, feeling the winter breeze upon your face.
The love between Cal and Tritus is all consuming and beautifully told.
Thanks Corina for another wonderful story. Now I just have to wait patiently for Winter's Reign. 😆
I'm a sucker for a good romance. This story has all the feels of a romance plus the intrigue of romantic suspense. A twofer as far as I'm concerned. And there's a daring rescue. A wonderful complement to the DoW series. To get the whole story and additional back story read the Daughter of Winter series and all the complements to DoW. You won't be disappointed. Ms. Douglas is an accomplished Celtic mythology and fantasy romance writer.
Prior to reading the Daughter of Winter series, I was not familiar with Celtic Mythology. I had read Greek mythology and some Norse mythology, but my education was lacking in this genre. I am so very grateful that Corina has brought these beautiful stories into my life. Callialeach is not only a Goddess, but she is made real as a person through Corona’s writing. What an amazing story.
I loved reading about the Celtic origins of our Christmas traditions all wrapped up in a sweet (with some steam/spice) romance. The love between Tritus and Call is evident on the page. They uncover a dark side of the town they visit (child trafficking) that still plagues the globe today. This is a well-written prequel to the dark fantasy romance series that I couldn't put down. Highly recommend Douglas to any lovers of Celtic mythology and dark steamy romances.
The love Tritus has for Cal is endearing and passionate. Was swept away into the secrets and the empathy they had for what was going on. Highly recommend
I absolutely loved this book and getting to see more of Tritus and Cailleach's relationship! and during the winter solstice too, here in Canada there is snow, so it was a perfect read curled up on the chair by the fire. 😊
The way Tritus loves Cailleach is so touching! And seeing Cailleach change and grow under his love and care, I love reading about her.
This book was truly a warm and cozy read, one I'm glad to have read!
And she's not wrong to say that Talorgan is dangerous. I mean, that guy is the reason why you're dead.
I love how in this short story, we're able to see how beautiful their story is. The fact that they found solace in each other's arms makes me happy. They both deserved better.
