This is the third in the Badwater series by Stephen Toman and its a gravity train of ups and downs. This is not for the weak hearted, and is certainly not for the kids.

This is a violent, explosive tale reminiscent of a Peckinpah movie, the gruesome details are not poured over salaciously and written for effect these are brutal scenes written as quick as they happen, sometimes too quick as it takes you a moment to realise exactly what the heck happened as a head "disappears into a pink mist."

The pace of it is quick and you are sped along to the gruesome conclusion. Which makes me want to go back and pour over the finer details the bits that tell you more about the world these characters inhabit.

Characters are written efficiently and you understand more about them from their actions rather than any exposition about their past. You get enough to understand the motives of each and thatsts enough for the story.

Overall well written and a book I thoroughly enjoyed, a nice one to read over an afternoon and revisit the next day. Once you've washed your eyes out with bleach.
