I finished this book in less than a week, which is something I normally never do. The amount of passion in this book starts from the very beginning and ends with even more. The older woman/younger man trope is the one I am always on the hunt for and this book gave me that. I suggest picking this book up if you are looking for a great new romance read.

I can honestly say I have never experienced such a myriad of emotions whilst reading a book before.

K C Savage is a new author to me so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but feeling like I’m on an out of control rollercoaster with immense highs and dangerous lows was definitely not it.

Reading this taboo romance was both heartbreaking and exhilarating. I never knew which from page to page as this complex story unfolded.

I don’t want anyone to think I didn’t love this story because I truly did, but I also disliked and didn’t agree with the characters at the same time.

I’ve never read an author’s work where I experienced such opposing emotions almost simultaneously.

I started reading this book at 7pm and finished it, plus the two following books in the story by 6am the following morning.

K C Savage has done a fantastic job of creating a story that could pull you in all different directions, whilst being so addictive you can’t put it down.

I’m finding it really hard to fully portray how unique and spellbinding this read is. It had me glued to my kindle for 11 hours and has me feeling so many varying emotions I’m still unsure how to vocalise them.

Emma is a complex character. You can see what she has in life and that she should embrace and nurture what she has, not give up when the going gets tough. But, on the other hand, you can also see that she’s struggling to hold onto what life once was. We all know, from experience, that life changes, we change as time goes on. It’s just part and parcel of life.

Matt seems to be a man deep in the comfort that effort in his marriage is something that would always be there, despite a lack of investment.
Sometimes we can take the things we hold the dearest for granted. We forget that we still have to give 110% otherwise it will wither and die. Once we find that insurmountable happiness we need to nurture and work to keep it. To our detriment do we ignore the effort needed.

Jack is a character I didn’t really like to begin with, I judged him based on first appearances. I determined that he was blasé and thoughtless with his actions but as the pages unfolded I saw that he was just as unhappy and trapped as his life unfolded before his eyes. He wasn’t as blasé as I first thought and he wasn’t a player messing with the lives of others.

It showed me that the person we are as a young person isn’t always the same person we end up being as we grow and experience what life throws at us. It showed me that we all experience things differently and react accordingly.

I don’t want to give the storyline away because you need to read the following two books to find out how their story pans out, but I will say that I have never experienced such deep and opposing emotions. The most thrilling of rollercoaster rides I’ve ever been on.

I highly recommend this book, as well as the two other additional reads.

So many stars needed to fully portray how wonderful and emotional read this story is

First off, a huge thanks to KC Savage for giving me the ARC and the following review is from my honest opinion.

I know the author did a great job when she is able to make me have a love-hate feeling towards the characters. The tension each character hold to each other was intense. Emma was annoying as hell at first to me but after halfway through the reading, I could understand her feelings. It is heartbreaking knowing cheating does occur in real life and can happen to anyone regardless the gender.

I gave 4 stars because I was frustrated the first half of the book because of cheating. I didn't expect it to be that heavy. However I can't stop reading because the author knows how to keep me eager to turn the pages to find out what happened next. I can't wait for the next book to find out if Emma's choice in her life really worth it or not.

I loved Emma and Jack's story from start to finish! KC delves into the emotional ride that Emma goes through navigating her hearts desire, heartbreak of a breakdown of her longtime marriage, and the strength to really listen to want you want over what is maybe best for others to pursue what will ultimately make Emma (and Jack) happy over everything else.
There is plenty of steamy sexy times throughout and there was definitely some fanning my face moments!
I really rooted for Emma and Jack as they were wonderful, loving people that were unfortunately attached to others when they met the one they are really meant to be with.
I cannot wait to dive into the next book in this series and get some more Emma & Jack!

Hot, Angsty and Taboo!!!

This was an easy read but had quite a bit of angst. Emma is married to Matt and while they have many heated scenes, you can feel that there is something off in their relationship. When she meets Jack, the sparks fly from their initial encounter. As the story continues, I had no choice but root for Emma and Jack, they seemed destined for one another and gosh, their chemistry was so very strong!!! I can’t see where things go next!!!

First off, a huge thanks to KC Savage for giving me a chance to read and review!

I feel like I say this a lot 😂 but I hate Emma, for like a good portion of the book I really just hated her guts. I don't know why but I just couldn't understand her until later on in the book.

I absolutely loved all the emotions you could read while reading this! The tension was grade A!

The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because of all the cheating in the first part of the book. I didn't think it would be that much.

Although I couldn't stop reading because the author knows how to keep you engaged in reading to find out what happens next!

Matt and Emma were the perfect couple until they weren’t. They had the perfect marriage until the perfect storm happened. Jack was working for a new promotion, and Emma met someone that she connected with and couldn’t get out of her head.

When Matt continues to put work before his wife, what effects will it have on their marriage? When Emma can’t wait to see Jack and he is there while her husband isn’t, what effect will that have?

This book has all my favorite angsty tropes...emotional betrayal and cheating. Which is worst? You decide, but don’t miss this page turner.

Hot and sexy!

It's steaming hot from the start! From the first encounter, I could feel the sexual tension between Emma and Jack. The author did a great job maintaining that tension throughout the book. Watching Emma make decisions that would change her life forever is like watching a sinking ship. Would she be happy or not in the end with the changes? Can't wait for the second book!

A Raunchy Forbidden Romance

Heed the triggers before beginning this series. If cheating is something you can't read, then don't.

Normally this book wouldn't be for me as I have an intense dislike for cheating. But when my partner started squealing while reading, I knew there must be something special about it. And I was right. KC draws you into the book one sentence at a time until you are begging for more by the time you are on the last page.

I struggled to relate to Emma through the entire book. Not once did she try to save her marriage. She even started flirting with Jack right right before going home with Matt and having hot sex with him. And the way she spoke to him sometimes felt condescending and like she didn't actually care. She constantly mentioned things she wanted to do or try but not once did she actually speak up and talk to Matt about it. She just jumped straight into bed with her doctor. I feel like she had the affair because she was bored.

I related even less to Jack. He had no reason to have an affair. He was in love with his wife Jenna. He has always wanted a family. But then he leaves her to be with Emma, who can't give him any of that? It just didn't feel right. And on top of that she is his patient. He risked his entire career on an affair. Sure, it must have been flattering to have an older woman want him, but still...

I feel so bad for Matt and Jenna because neither of them did anything to deserve their partners cheating on them. Matt worked a lot... but he had to so that he could support Emma in her career. Now that felt like a kick in the teeth after everything he has done for her. It's annoying because Emma makes comments about him maybe having an affair. (He wasn't.) But then becoming a hypocrite by having an affair herself. And even worse, with a man who appears to be happily married himself. And poor Jenna. She must have been so blindsided when her husband suddenly left her.

I will continue reading the trilogy out of respect for the author, but I can't see my opinion of Emma and Jack changing.

A Spicy Forbidden Romance

This book is absolutely worth the read. Head the triggers. If cheating bugs you, don't read this. If it doesn't then this book will suck you in and keep you there. I can't wait to see what Ms. Savage brings us next. I'm all in for it!

KC Savage first dip into the world of writing is a success. I will admit … I couldn’t stand Emma throughout most of the book. I wanted to quit reading it, but I couldn’t stop watching the train wreck. I had to see if she could be redeemed. A Reverse Age Gap forbidden romance. (Real cheating- does occur)

This book does end on a cliffy, but a cliffy that will not have you pulling your hair out.

I’m looking forward to the answers on all the unanswered questions in book two.

Happy 📘 Reading!

So cheating isn’t my usual trope but my god.

This book had my hooked from beginning to end. I fell in love with the main characters and found myself on the edge of the seat the entire time.

I felt bad for Matt at first but now I don’t feel an ounce of sympathy for that man. Was she a little irrational at times?Yes. Was it justified? Also yes.

Her best friend also seems a bit off too me. Maybe that is just me but I hate how pushy and judgmental she is. Obviously she has done something similar, so what gives her any right?

Overall I love this book and can’t wait to read the next one.

A job well done to KC Savage.

From the get go, The Encounter is hot and sexy and an overall amazing story. You can literally cut the sexual tension between Emma and Jack with a knife, just adding to the appeal of this story. Even though it's a forbidden romance and adultery is involved, I was still cheering for the tow of them (don't even come for me lol). This book is so spicy and delicious, and I'm so excited for the next book to come out. It does end with a cliffhanger, so now I'm impatiently awaiting to see what The Choice has in store for us.

This book is...bad

I fought tooth and nail to get as far as I could, about half way, before I had to put it down. Before i get further let me state that this book is self published probably self edited, she had one named critiquer, and the author is new, she favors adultery stories to read and wanted to write her own, having said this, I'm going to try and be as cordial in my review as I can because honestly there is potential here, so this will be more of a critique of my own.

the writing feels rushed in places and over descriptive in others, the chapters are short be the scenes feel repetitive with different backdrops.

the main character Emma feels like she has undiagnosed bipolar disorder, one moment shes head over heals in love and gushing on her husband, even teary eyed over pictures from past vacation and their wedding, the next moment her husband, Matt, has to work late or go out of town because of his potential promotion and now shes a scorned, brooding passive aggressive woman. and this happens semi frequently.

the decisions making process of these characters are all over the board, one moment Emma hurts her self badly to the point she will need surgery, but before she goes under the knife Matt has the brilliant idea of going to Vegas for a get away trip, to which Emma agrees....they were already on a getaway trip when she got injured.

the author will go into great detail about the colors Emma uses to paint the serene scenes shes painting, but when her, Brandi her best friend and Jenna another friend discuss catering for their gallery event, the food options are relegated to only their themes and the trio moves on to a girls hang out with drinks.

example: (paraphrased)

Emma: "so what dishes has your team put together for our next event?"

Jenna: "we got a Japanese option, and Italian option, a Mexican option and a Greek option, how are we feeling about these?"

Brandi: "I love it, are we agreed?"

Emma: "Yup, should we get drinks? Pete!! our usuals"

Author writes the love scenes like a combination of technical instruction from sex ed and experiences with a lot of 2 pump Pauls, the scenes at their longest are a single sided page, at their shortest, a paragraph, like shes scared to write a sex scene, even then the juicer details are regulated to her fantasies of Jack, the adultery love interest.

Now this could be on purpose to illustrate that while shes happy with Matt hes not very adventurous and the danger of infidelity Jack represents is a vehicle for her fantasies of wanting something more than just text book sex. but I feel Matt got shafted hard in his prowess and experince

Now the dialogue or dirty talk reads like bad and tame fan fiction, "i need you now Matt, oh fuck yes, you feel so good inside me Matt, oh god i love you"......................no innuendos, no deeper or heavier descriptions of feelings or sensations, internal thoughts in the moment during the scene, no position changes, no one partner directing the other, no in the moment playfulness it was all very bland, flat and mechanical, i felt bad for both Emma and Matt, like y'all need a sex coach

If you like cheating tropes this is probably a good little read for you to enjoy. It’s hot & steamy you can feel all the emotions reading this story

Jack is a young hit doctor who is happily married & as his wife says a huge flirt. There is noting wrong with flirting but there is a line you don’t cross.

Emma is much older than Jack is, she meets him at one of her husband’s work events only he ends up being late & Jack invites him to sit with him & his wife. After that they just seem to keep crossing paths.

I didn’t like Emma even though her husband is away at work a lot trying to get a promotion she never once’s try’s to save her marriage. Jack had no reason to cheat but he does anyways.

The Encounter is about Emma who has to choose between two men. On one side her husband where she has been together for 30 years more and on the other side a younger good looking Dr. In the story she is fighting with herself not to give in to her desire for the Dr. but too many things are happening in her marriage that she can no longer resist. who does she choose? highly recommend this book!!!!

I couldn't really root for a character who was cheating. As a married woman myself the whole premise was just not for me.
