Rate this book
Sean has always believed in a few simple truths. “Happy wife, happy life”, and violence is never the answer. These are put to the test though as a werewolf begins terrorizing his small town of Pine Grove, West Virginia. As the town’s Sheriff isolates the town and governs with an iron fist, both Sean and his son Connor will have to learn what it truly means to be a man. The town’s terrible secret comes to light and Sean finds himself forced into a terrible choice. When things come to a head, his decision will rock the very fabric of the town that he calls home.

He heard a gust of air flow out of something's nostrils, hard. Like a dog got a big whiff of something it didn’t like and was trying to clear its nose. He opened his eyes to see it staring directly at him not more than 6 inches away and nothing more than a screen between him and it. Its mouth peeled back in what looked almost like a sick grin stretching back around its snout showing off its razor-sharp teeth. For just a moment he couldn’t move. He couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t even think. Every fiber in his body was screaming for him to run. To get the hell out of there. He could feel the muscles in his legs twitching with the anticipation to run. The hairs all over his body, including the back of his neck stood straight up and he suddenly felt the urge to piss despite having just relieved his bladder. He heard a low guttural growl echo up from deep within the beast's stomach, growing as it reached its throat. He fell backwards off the bed and started screaming. He screamed louder than he thought was possible, his 11-year-old voice cracking under the pressure of both terror and mounting puberty. It returned his scream with one of its own. Loud enough to shake the windows and cause pains of terror to shoot across Joey’s stomach.

He heard the door behind him open and his light flipped on. “What in the holy fuck is…” he heard his dad shout. But his dad stopped short upon seeing the beast again right outside the window. It let out what Joey could only describe as the sound a dog would make if it could laugh and then it cut its razor-sharp claws across his window screen tearing big slash marks across it. “Joyce, get my fuckin gun!” Don screamed taking a big step back, but before Joyce could respond the beast let out a long deep howl straight up into the air and then disappeared into the night.

Joey looked up at his dad, his chest heaving up and down as he tried to catch his breath. His dad's balding head was matted and covered in sweat and Joey could smell the alcohol rolling off him. He was wearing a white tank top and grey boxers and stared back down at Joey. Neither of them really knowing what to say or what could be said. Don’s eyes looked wild, the green almost hidden behind his overly large pupils and masked around the edges by a deep red from being awoken so quickly and still half drunk. “Jesus Christ” he said, taking a deep breath and rubbing his hand over his wet and balding head. “Jesus H. fucking Christ” he said as he left the room. Then he stepped back in, “I recommend you close that fucking window son” then he left again and closed the door behind him.

Pretty good read! I liked that it wasn't your typical werewolf story. Could have used proofreading, but that's minor, in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Not bad

Book had a good beginning no doubt. I was hoping for better ending not that this one did not. Not much to add from that.

Fun werewolf story

Not quite the usual werewolf story but a good read. I enjoyed it. Wasn't quite expecting the town's history but it was different.

Werewolves

Oh my god, this is without a doubt the best werewolf story I've ever read, and I've read quite a few, more twists and turns than you can believe

Good story

Sci Fi for sure but with a twist . Werewolves are fantasy , right? This town suddenly has a werewolf .
Too many typos for a 5 star review .
