Former Green Beret braves a tropical paradise to rescue a pretty airport receptionist from human trafficking

He pushes limits, tempting death…

Former Green Beret, Matteo “Tayo” Perez is a risk-taking adrenalin junky with a load of survivor's guilt trying to find his way in a civilian world. He’s working in construction and moonlighting as a sky-diving instructor reluctant to accept a position with Brotherhood Protectors Colorado. Until he meets a pretty, homeless receptionist.

Kayla Quinn left Florida for Colorado Springs to start over after grieving the loss or her fiancé. After landing a job as a receptionist at the general aviation airport terminal, she starts dating a sexy sky-diving instructor. Just when Kayla is getting her life back on track, a cagy plane owner accepts delivery of several crates that make Kayla suspicious. Snooping into the contents of the crates, her life goes from on track to derailed in seconds.

She needs someone to save her from a fate worse than death…

When Kayla goes missing from her post, Tayo makes finding her his first mission as a Brotherhood Protector. He and his teammates join forces to find the missing woman. Their search leads to a private island paradise where Tayo and his team parachute in for the rescue. He and Kayla escape through the jungle, unable to deny their growing attraction, while fighting to stay alive.

(4.5) Kayla is a breath of fresh air. She might get herself into trouble, but she has a brain, guts and smiles. Tayo is hating him self and life due to the loss of his friend in country. Each book is entertainment but still put kernels of life in front of your face. How many carry the same thoughts and feelings? How easy it is to say *its not your fault* half the time we don't believe ourselves when it concerns ourselves. Seeing Tayo step up and join the Colorado group was great. What really laid it all out for me was the honesty between Tayo and Kayla. It made my heart swoon and I knew, just knew I was on board where ever the book was going. Where it was a surprise, sadly its another kernel of life that is in our world, happening every day. The tenacity of Kayla was inspiring and I was thrilled with the HEA! Thank you Elle James, Book Funnel and all for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Free Fall is book 7 in the Brotherhood Protectors: Colorado series by Elle James and another wild ride!

Up next is Tayo and Kayla. Both are dealing with survivors guilt, Tayo after a mission left one of his brother’s in arms gone and Kayla after her fiancé passed away. What starts as acquaintances quickly lead into something more…

When Kayla disappears Tayo will stop at nothing to find her…suspense, action, danger, seeing old friends from prior books, romance and hopefully they find their HEA!

Kayla is a little firecracker, speaks her mind and isn't afraid to joke around with you. She needs some help and it comes from Tayo, an ex-marine who lost a friend overseas. Can these two help each other through her pain of loss? A lot of excitement, adventure and a HEA. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.

This is the latest offering in the Colorado Branch of the Brotherhood Protectors and i loved how topical the start of this story was with the Ukraine/Russia conflict This is also the place where Matteo (Tayo) Pérez falls apart with the death of a brother and his best friend he has survivors guilt and feels he should have been the one to die after all he didn't have a wife and baby on the way Now he has left the military and he has been offered a job with the Brotherhood Protectors but he doesn't trust him self to protect either a client or his fellow team members so meanwhile he is working construction and getting his adrenaline by teaching skydiving. This is how he meets Kayla when she literally drops at his feet after driving for days without anything other than fuel stops to get to her new job at the airfield after deciding to leave the life she had with her dead fiancée behind Tayo knows she needs help with no money and nowhere to live and that forces his hand with the Brotherhood protectors they will give her a home at the ranch till she is established and he wants to be where she is so he joins the team. But Kayla is no shrinking violet and soon sees something she shouldn't at the airfield something that places her in danger Can the team and Tayo get to her in time before she disappears in the human trafficking. You will have to read to see if these two have a future together

Once again butt kicking females w all these military men.

This seventh book in the Brotherhood Protectors - Colorado series starts out a little slow compared to previous books. Kayla just moves from Florida to Colorado Springs and meets Tayo her first day on the job. Tayo is in limbo. He lost his best friend and is no longer part of the military. He should have died. He didn’t have a wife and child. Kayla drove straight through from Florida and is low on cash and nowhere to sleep. Tayo is on his way to a BBQ at the ranch and invites Kayla along. At the end of the night Kayla has a room, food in her belly and a new part time job at the ranch. The first half of the book is of Kayla to get acclimated and Tayo to feel like maybe he is suppose to move forward as he accepts a position within the Brotherhood.

At work Kayla walks outside the building for fresh air when she walks by one of the crates waiting to be loaded into a private jet. She hears someone screaming. She hunts for something to open the pallet w and gets knocked out. I admit I kept screaming at the book about tracking her with the necklace Tayo gave her the night before. Brotherhood to the rescue.

I absolutely loved, loved, loved this story. Tayo and Kayla are both bruised souls coasting through life after being dealt crushing blows.
Tayo is a beautiful soul, taking on the guilt of death. Merely surviving because he didn’t felt he deserved more. Such a gentleman. So kind and empathetic yet such a strong alpha male, protectiveness seeping from every pore.
Kayla has suffered, what I consider from experience as a widow, to be the ultimate loss. She strong and feisty with a backbone that enables her to survive the worst life throws in her path. Meeting Tayo bring the two wounded souls together. It’s as though their hearts recognise each other. Truly beautiful to watch.
Elle James has created an absolutely beautiful and addictive story that is more than worthy to be in The Brotherhood Protector series. It’s heartwarming to see past characters develop further as they welcome others into their family. It’s like visiting old friends or putting on your favourite snuggly cardigan. It just envelopes you into it’s warmth and makes you feel cared for and accepted.
An absolute must to read.
5 stars does not do this story justice.

This branch of the Brotherhood Protectors in Colorado is shaping up to be a fine group of men and women, and now a new couple enters their fold. Matteo aka Tayo has been hounded by Jake to join them for awhile and keeps turning him down…until a new receptionist at small airport where he parachutes makes an impression and invites her to dinner at the ranch to go with him. Kayla just drove many many miles for days to get to her new job, she’s starting over and has landed the job at the small airport and on her first day meets Tayo, gets invited to dinner and even gets a place to stay for the time being. These two are drawn to each other but both have lost someone in their past, making it hard to move on…but when Kayla gets mixed up in human trafficking…Tayo will pull out all the stops to get her back.
A great read with steam, some suspense and action, and amazing characters. I loved seeing everyone again from the Colorado ranch and these two fit in perfectly. I loved Kayla’s resilience and the open honesty between them…no drama and no games. The story flowed nicely and the epilogue was perfect.

Free Fall: Brotherhood Protectors Colorado Book 7 is by Elle James. Tayo Perez was skydiving to feel the adrenaline he once got from his job as a member of an elite fighting group. It wasn’t the same; but close. However, he couldn’t have stayed without constantly remembering Gordy’s death. It should have been him.
He was now with another former teammate, Cog Jackson who was skydiving to prove something to himself. When they landed, Tayo went to check out and found a new person in place of their regular secretary. She had just arrived that morning and had worked a full day. Prior to that, she had driven straight from Florida to get here. She was tired and hungry and had no where to stay. Tayo took her to a BBQ that the Brotherhood protectors had invited him to. This ended up with a job for him and a safe place for her.
However, her safe place definitely wasn’t the airport where she worked. Here, she found some crates from which emitted cries for help. She is kidnapped by a sex trafficking group and is set to be sold into slavery. Will Tayo be able to rescue her?

Heart stopping action

A good plot, once it got rolling, it had me on the edge of my seat. It wss just a slow start and a little bit maddening!

See, I'm a dark-haired woman, but I don't like stories to paint a blonde headed woman as being ditzy and nuts able to think. While Kayla came through at the end and had spunk and fire, at the beginning she did not use her head! And that got her into trouble! I guess she was just too young? But if your grab her in a situation and you think somebody's being trafficked, abducted, in a lot of trouble. First always call 911! Don't try to rescue them yourself! Chances are if your female, it'll get you in the same trouble therein. And then if you're given a GPS tracker which is a really good idea! For necklace to do always wear! Even if you don't have an SO. But don't take it off and leave it someplace else keep it on it does you no good unless it's around your neck. Other than that it was a good book I would read it again but I think I'd still skip the first part of it I just don't like female writers writing other females being a ditzy blonde!!

We are back in Colorado with the newly formed division of Brotherhood Protectors.
Former Special Forces member Matteo/Tayo Pérez is still struggling with the guilt after the death of his former teammate and dear friend.
Kayla has just arrived in Colorado to start a new job, and hopefully a new life. She is homeless, but determined to make it on her own.
The moment Tayo meets Kayla, the attraction is powerful, and it seems that Kayla feels the same. Something neither expected and weren’t sure they could trust.
Interacting with her helps Tayo take the leap into becoming part of the Brotherhood Protectors and realizing he needed to move forward with his life. When Kayla is captured, he and the team will do everything and anything to bring her back.
From the first page to the last this was an action and romance packed story. Making you wonder if you can free fall not only from an airplane but also into love.
Another great addition to the series
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

In Free Fall, we meet an ex-special forces soldier, Tayo, loaded to the gills with survivor's guilt. So of course, he is the perfect recruit (if a little resistant) for the Brotherhood Protectors, Colorado Branch. But it takes an encounter with Kayla, a part time airport receptionist with her own sad past and financial issues to make him start coming out of his self-imposed happiness ban. As they say to each other: "We're a pair, huh?...Yup. Both trying to get on with life after death." Can they make it work? Well, fate putting Kayla at the wrong place at the right time (causing her to get abducted) answers their question of "are their feelings towards each other really love?" Obviously- since the Brotherhood Protectors (and their new recruit Tayo) immediately get to work rescuing her! I did find the whole rescue mission to be a little unrealistic/ simplistic, but overall it was still fun. And I loved the cute little hint about a future possible Gunny story... I received an ARC of the story to review.

Another great book to gab and settle down with to read for the evening and be entertained. The book introduces us to two very interesting individuals, Matteo "Tayo" Perez, prior Green Beret, and Kayla, a receptionist. Tayo not sure he is worthy of the Broterhood of Protectors while Kayla took rather a road trip of desperation to get away from memories. Both considering and trying to at the same to "start fresh" or "start over" with their life (where they live, work, etc.,).

As we get to know Tayo and Kayla and watch their relationship grow closer, we experience intrigue, friendship, interest, anxiousness, romance, expectancy, action, pain, sorrow and happiness emotions. What happening to Tayo, Kayla or both for us to experience all of these emotions, you'll have to read the book. It'll be well worth your time!

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys romance suspense and military romance books plus likes to be entertained.

Free Fall is a spectacular romantic suspense by Elle James. Ms. James once again provides readers with a well-written book full of excellent characters. Matteo left the SEALS after his buddy died and after a year, he's still guilt-ridden with a side order of PTSD. Kayla is just finishing up her first day on the job at the airfield when she meets Matteo. He talks her into going to a barbque and she meets new friends and finds a place to live while getting situated after her move from Florida. Matteo finally agrees to work with the Brotherhood Protectors, and Kayla disappears. Matteo and Kayla's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book and can't wait for my next Elle James book. Free Fall is book 7 of the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received a free copy of the mildly steamy paramilitary romantic suspense novel Free Fall: Brotherhood Protectors Colorado: Book #7 by Elle James and this review was given freely.
Situationally current and containing an excellent review of the Colorado Brotherhood and Montana Brotherhood series couples and missions. This sequel contains action, suspense, and a fair amount of violence but also is a testament to love at first sight and new beginnings. It can be read as a standalone but is best if read in series order.
A year after former Army’s 10th Special Forces team member Matteo “Tayo” Perez’s teammate Gordy sacrifices his life to save the team and Kayla’s fiancé Ryan suddenly dies, PTSD and survivor’s guilt suffering Tayo finds himself in Colorado Springs teaching skydiving, being recruited by Jake Cogburn, and strangely protective of the airport’s penniless spitfire of a new receptionist, Florida explant Kayla.

Cotton Candy, that's that Tayo thought about Kayla. They had met at the airport where Kayla literally just started a new job. He soon found out how new the job was and what she did to get the job. His protective instincts kicked in. He suddenly found himself going to where he didn't want to be. This is a slow and sweet read until all of a sudden the intensity is ramped right up to 100 decibels. Love seeing the family and characters in this series, it's actually quite apropos that the author says there should be another episode of the "Waterin' Hole Chronicles". All of these stories are just waiting to be loved, each and every chapter you get a new couple and it is wonderful to come back each and every time to learn about a new couple, but also see the favorites you come to love and adore. Words that made me smile in this chapter, "just watch me", "a beautiful mess", and "unicorn farts."

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

After a devastating loss Tayo has left his career with the Special Forces but the aftereffects continue to haunt him. He has been offered a position with the Brotherhood Protectors but until he takes that step, he is teaching skydiving which is how he meets Kayla.

Kayla has relocated to Colorado to put some distance between her and her painful memories. When she and Tayo meet they soon realize that they are kindred spirits so when she is being threatened there is nothing that Tayo and the Brotherhood Protectors won’t do to keep her safe.

Neither Tayo nor Kayla were looking for love but sometimes the best things happen when you least expect it as they take us on a romantic and action-packed adventure.

Another exciting read from author Elle James. I love her books. This powerful book is part of the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado series. It is filled with suspense, thrills, danger and romance. You immediately love the hero Matteo “Tayo ” Perez. After losing a brother-in-arms during his last deployment, Tayo is lost. Jake Cogburn, head of the Brotherhood Protectors in Colorado, asks Tayo to join the Brotherhood. But he keeps refusing.
Then he meets Kayla Quinn, a receptionist in the FBO office of the parachute company that Tayo works for.
He asks Kayla to go to a BBQ at Lost Valley Ranch. Their chemistry heats up very quickly.
Kayla is kidnapped and Tayo and the Brotherhood jump into action to save her. A very good story and I was honored to give my honest review.

Elle is adding to her Brotherhood Protector's series with this new addition. This time we are adding to the Protector's in Colorado. Jake has been trying to get Tayo, an ex Green. Beret, for awhile, he's been fighting it as he is still dealing with a mission that went FUBAR. Kayla has just made a cross country trip in order to make it to a new job. After meeting the homeless and thoroughly exhausted Kayla, Tayo finds himself taking her to Fools Gold and discovers he's now a Protector. From there we have some interesting things happening. Some we leave you gasping others just seem to Id things that unfortunately we are seeing even more in our society. Luckily Elle gives most everyone a happy ending. I loved the way she handled one of the bad guys at the end with what Kayla said.

I honestly did not expect this book to take the direction it took. I knew something was going to happen, but when the "what", "when", " why", and "how" happened, I was surprised about some things.

I liked Tayo, and immediately liked Kayla. She seemed to be a go with the flow person who was intent on not taking advantage of people's generosity. Kayla also was strong and independent. I think her strength and upbeat nature helped Tayo leave his dark place.

I also like that the romance kicked in early. Tayo and Kayla seemed to fall fast and hard. I did like that they addressed the speed in which they connected. We got to revisit Gunny as well as some of the other members from Brotherhood Protectors.

When this book took a turn, the action, danger, and suspense ratcheted up to a higher level. It started out being a good book, and became a book that left me on the edge of my seat. I even got an epilogue. Yay!

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This book was just so good. A tempting combination of emotion, suspense, action and danger grabs you tight and doesn't ease up until it is good and ready to do so. The chemistry was extremely evident between Tayo and Kayla and I thought they made a great couple. They each brought baggage into the mix that really helped up the feels and deepened those emotions, so trust me when I say your heart is going to get a workout, your breath is going to be stolen and you are going to be right on the edge of your seat because this book is going to do all that and send your jaw to the floor a time or two to boot! I am electing to post a candid review.

Tayo had my heart from the minute he was introduced. I do believe he is my new favourite in this series. Kayla is lost after the unexpected death of her fiance. Running from her past with him to try and begin a new future she finds herself in the arms of Tayo after driving for days to reach her new job running on coffee and popcorn. What she didn't take into consideration was that she didn't leave herself time or money to settle in before starting her job the day she arrived. Kayla is strong and independent almost to a fault. When help is offered she bocks at it until she is convinced that any help she can give to the farm is more than payment enough. How much time is enough to have feelings for another? That is the question that both of them are trying to answer. When a kidnapping takes Kayla away Tayo is not far behind with his group to save her, and the others they didn't know about.

This is Tayo and Kayla's story. Tayo doesn't want to commit to the Brotherhood Protectors thinking he just can't protect anyone after his buddy is killed in action. Kayla has left everything behind to start a new life in Colorado after the death of her fiancé. Both are having survivor guilt and can't seem to move on. When Tayo finds out that Kayla has no money or place to live he takes her to the ranch. I loved Kayla's sayings she just lets out. Kayla and Tayo fall for each other pretty fast but when Kayla stumbles onto something at work we have a book with suspense, danger, action and the whole team of Brotherhood coming to her rescue and keeping the reader involved.

This is another fantastic story in this series of brave men and women. It's fitting that I read this on ANZAC Day.
This is Tayo's story, a mission gone wrong, the loss of a brother and his pain through survivor's guilt. The story picks up a year later, he puts his misery aside as he helps a women (Kayla) with her own baggage.
'The Brotherhood' will help them both. There is an instant attraction but both feel guilty for living and have to work through those feelings. Love will of course find a way.
Kayla is in danger, she's seen too much and vanishes. Will he be able to save her before it's too late?
A wonderful story, I enjoyed every minute.

This was another great book from Elle James. I just adore Kayla...her spirit, her sense of humor, her passion. She was just what serious Tayo needed in his life. Kayla knew that Tayo will rescue her but she still did everything in her power to save herself.

I will say though, that it did feel like there should've been perhaps more closure after the rescue, maybe it will be in a future book? By closure I mean, did the human traffickers just accept what happened? Their escaped merchandise cost them a lot of money, usually someone ends up paying for that by way of revenge. What happened to the traffickers that managed to escape?

This book is really good, from the first page until the last. The story is well-paced with plenty of romance and intrigue. The Brotherhood Protectors Colorado office is growing with the addition of Matteo Perez former Special Forces. While trying to adjust to life after the military, Matteo has been reluctant to join the Brotherhood Protectors however after meeting Kayla, who is newly arrived in Colorado Springs he quickly changes his mind. It was nice to visit with all the Protectors and see them in action. There is also a new manager for the Watering Hole that might lead to some interesting interaction between...
I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book.

Free Fall by Elle James is the seventh book in her Brotherhood Protectors Colorado series. The fortuitous meeting between Kayla Quinn and Mateo "Tayo" Perez leads to quite an adventure. Tayo is in Colorado Springs deciding on whether or not to join the Brotherhood Protectors and Kayla is there for a fresh start after the death of her fiance. I love these two characters. I enjoyed watching the two of them resist falling for each other and then their realization that the pull was too strong to resist. The storyline has them facing much danger before their Happily Ever After. This is a great addition to the series.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Free Fall doesn’t ease you gently into the story – you are tossed in and buffeted around with the other characters, and, by the time you have recovered from that, you’re so invested in the story and characters, you can’t put the book down. The way the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado get Tayo to join them is infinitely amusing; he really puts himself there. And then there’s Kayla, courageous, headstrong, and, like Tayo, living with survivor’s guilt. I feel as though almost anything I say would be a spoiler, so I’m not going there, except to say that this book doesn’t disappoint, and fans of the Colorado branch will be thrilled to be with them again.

Is it possible to love again?

Kayla is still drowning in grief, reeling from the changes the last year has brought and is exhausted but is determined to have a new start, find a new life. What she didn't expect to find is Tayo.
Tayo is not living, he is merely going through the motions, with guilt overwhelming him, until his run in with the feisty little spitfire Kayla. She makes him want...want her....want to be a better man....want to live again....want to protect her, provide for her....and love her.
Both Tayo and Kayla are a great addition to the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado, a series that gets better with every book.

Both Matteo “Tayo” Perez and Kayla Quinn needed a new start after both had recent but separate tragedies in their lives. By the luck of meeting they were soon very much attracted to each other. Both are starting new jobs and end up boarding at the Lost Valley Ranch. Curious and courageous Kayla soon finds herself in trouble from snooping around some cargo containers while at her airport job. Tayo and the team jump into action to save the day. Great addition to the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado series.

This is another great book in the Colorado Brotherhood Protector series. Tayo was in the Army Special Forces and his friend was killed while on a mission a year before but he has survivor’s guilt. Kayla was from Florida and moved to Colorado a few months after her fiancé died. They meet on Kayla’s first day on the job when Tayo parachutes in and they have an instant attraction. When Kayla is captured, Tayo and the Brotherhood Protectors try to find her. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. It’s full of action, suspense and romance and I loved it.
