Christophe Bec is the writer of over fifty graphic novels. His flagship series as a writer, Shrine, has sold several hundred thousand copies worldwide. He is also the author of the comics Prometheus, Carthago, Darkness, Bunker, and Aéropostale.
Saznajte i sami.
Conan le Cimmérien: Xuthal la Crépusculaire is a visually stunning and gripping adaptation that stays true to the spirit of Howard’s original storytelling. The narrative is intense and immersive, unfolding in a dreamlike, almost hallucinatory atmosphere that perfectly suits the eerie and exotic setting.
What truly elevates this volume is Subić’s exceptional artwork. Each panel is meticulously crafted, bursting with mood, motion, and texture. His ability to capture Conan’s raw power, as well as the haunting beauty of the surroundings, makes every page a visual experience. Subić once again proves he’s among the best when it comes to visualizing sword-and-sorcery tales—his art is the primary reason this book stands out and, for many, the reason to pick it up in the first place.
A masterful balance of action, suspense, and haunting atmosphere—this is Conan at his finest.

One of the best in whole series of Conan adaptations by French authors. Story has a good pace and I really liked that feeling of classic pulp stories. Old city lost in desert, mysterious evil, eerie atmosphere all over.
Visually it's also stunning. Great work with panels and composition, thin line drawing and playing with shadows and colors. Slightly erotic, which may seem superficial nowadays, but back in the time, it was the main selling point of those stories...
I would love to see more works from team behind this one. 4.5*
The story is very classic but it is in a way the beauty of it. It's very Conan, very male gaze, but with Lovecraftian vibes to it. The style, the lines are beautiful. The setting is amazingly drawn, fascinating and eerie. It is gory and erotic, in a nice, barbaric way.
Based on: Robert Ervin Howard's Xuthal of the Dusk Screenplay by: Christophe Bec Drawing/Dessin: Stevan Subic
Bearded and hooded Conan is an interesting brooding killer. The art kinda gives him a soulless or demonic look on occasions, but it's a dark and menacing atmosphere that works.
Nudity is not for shame though fairly graphic, and the art is very sensual, just as well the graphic orgy scene definitely showcases the author's admiration for the writhing body, but I cannot recommend such viewing for most eyes. Humorously, as the story progresses, Natala's already skimpy "bikini top mesh armor" slowly denigrates until it's simply not there, and no longer a laughing matter.
I went through once, only looking at art, and then I went through a second time, focusing on the script, which is in French. I think this held the source material up well, and the partnering art spoke for itself in bringing it to life.
