The title of this book reminds me of one of the Xbox games my kids used to love playing, the Army of Two game was one of the few times they got along, and played well together. I'd like to think if this book was a game, they could sit down together and play through it just as they did several years ago with the army of two game. This is exactly what scifi should be. Pushing the boundaries, and telling an excellent story in the process.
Space ships, AIs, Alien races, exploration, and of course, the ever present destruction of the human race hanging over all of their actions. It all sets up for a really well done story, and one I believe most scifi fans will enjoy.

Also, because of the author notes at the end of the book, I suggest Stan's Doughnuts in California (the radio announcers at the phillies games always talk about them when they're playing the Giants). I've always wanted to order some, but never got around to doing so, mostly because my wasteline really doesn't need any help, but also because growing up my dad owned several Duncan Doughnut stores, and I'm always apauled by the levels to which they've sank these days, what with shipping doughnuts in from a central location, instead of baking them at the store, and the fact that eclairs and coffee rolls (my two favorite doughnuts) are almost never carried anymore. (and don't give me that crap about a boston cream being identical to an eclair, that's BS, and anyone who knows anything about eclairs will back up me up on that).
Anyway, doughnuts aside, if you're a scifi fan, grab this one, and begin a new series that promises to be one heck of a ride.

well done first book in a series. Fast paced, good character development.

This book was very interesting, fast paced and had excellent character development. I’ve personally always wanted a story from the perspective of an ID agent. I could take or leave the Indiana Jones want to be. If you’ve read the obsidian detective opus X series you know how this world operates. So there was no need for a lot of world building. The storyline has quite a bit of twist and turns and a few mysteries. I finished the book in one sitting because it was an excellent page turner. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series to see what develops. No spoilers. the book was very good read it.

Her we go again with a book series where I devoured multiple books, in this case the entire series, before I got around to write a review.

Overall this is a good series. I quite liked reading it. Obviously since I finished the entire series of six books. I have gotten a bit better at dropping book series that are not that good or are going downhill after the first book.

If we start with the good I very much liked the two main protagonists. The story is not bad. There is plenty of action, good dialogue and a nice mystery thread that our heroes are trying to solve and, as it turns out, pretty much saving the galaxy in the process.

This series pretty much follows straight after the original Opus X series finished and Jia and Erik even make a brief appearance towards the end of the series.

Emma’s “daughter” Jade also joins the two “fleshbags” and adds a few creative descriptions of the oxygen wasting carbon sacks that infest Earth. I like her though.

Overall I think I liked the original series better but I enjoyed reading this one as well.

However, this is Anderle and although he can write good books, I’ve quite enjoyed several of his book series, he also has a tendency lately to go for quantity instead of quality.

Thus the books in this series is quite bloated by these long nano-AR room training sessions. After the first few it became old and boring and certainly did not contribute much to the story. It felt like a third or more of the books were wasted on this crap.

Also, although there’s plenty of good dialogue there were also quite a bit of dialogue going on and on and on, theorizing and moralizing about things. Too much in my opinion.

Thanks to this I could not bring myself to give any of the books in this series more than a three star rating. It is a pretty solid three star one though.

The first Opus X series was one of my favorites & this follow up series lokks like it’s going to be on that list as well. Lot’s of exciting action, two great main characters & a new snarky AI. I can’t wait dor more in this series.

A grand continuation...

... of the Opus X 'verse.

New characters along with an old grumpy engineer who continues to squeeze every % improvement point she can out of the Argo to keep the 'canteen's' in one piece.

I'm really looking forward to book 2.

Great New series

I don't know how Michael bangs out so many series. I have read a few hundred and loved them all. Great characters and lots of action. The storyline is even better.

Loved it!

Loved it almost as much as Death Becomes Her. Hope the following books keep the ride going!
The first Opus X series was also a lot of fun. Read it so you will get the references in this one!
