Returning from France after working away, Lana Landon takes a spare room in her big brother Matt's new house. Only problem is he's a super protective, hockey player for the Seattle Whalers. She's come home with a business plan and a broken heart, but there's something more sinister lurking in the dark.
Alex “Thor” Bergman is the Whalers' huge goalie and is the last of his four brothers to settle down. No matter how hard he tries he only seems to attract gold digging puck bunnies who are after his big ... stick.
Can the Swedish giant find true love with a woman who makes the best grilled cheese sandwich he's ever tasted, but who's completely off limits?
**Trigger Warning—this book deals with emotional abuse, physical assault, controlling and stalking behavior. As with all the Whalers books, there is plenty of fun, sexy times, and banter, but please be aware if these issues are triggers for you and proceed with caution.
I began reading romance novels in 2019 and became instantly hooked. I was inspired to write my own during the 2020 lockdown and first self-published on Wattpad. With the help of Instagram, I gained a loyal following and eventually secured a publishing contract with 4Horsemen Publications. I am a recent but enthusiastic follower of the Dallas Stars Ice Hockey team and in particular the delicious Tyler Seguin. My Seattle Whalers hockey romance series has a loyal following on Instagram and I intend to keep writing about my crazy gang for as long as the readers want them. I love an espresso martini, dirty-talking alpha heroes with tattoos and a lazy Sunday breakfast. This is the fifth book in the Seattle Whalers series and you know me, I love hockey romance. This book follows Lana and Thor's story, and it can be read as a standalone, even though it'll be more enjoyable if you know the rest of the characters mentioned.
"My little firecracker." I honestly rather enjoyed Lana's character. She's been through an abusive, toxic relationship with an asshole ex, and had the guts to escape it. She's strong, even though she doubts herself sometimes. Once back in the US, she goes to live with her big brother Matt, one of the Whalers, looking for a new career, and not even thinking about a new relationship. Until a certain goalie changes everything.
"There's nothing you can do to hurt me, big guy." Thor was an absolute sweetheart. I love how into Lana he is from the start, and how you can see how conflicted he is. And look, the guy is huge, but so is his heart. He's so loving and protective that it's hard not to fall for him, honestly.
There's an attraction between them from the get-go, but Thor plays hockey with her brother, and any kind of relationship could lead to problems within the team. Matt, of course, is the overprotective big brother, who only gets more overprotective once he finds out what his sister's been through. Understandable? Yeah, I guess so. What I loved, though? That Lana didn't allow herself to be pushed around by her brother, and found her own way.
"You're ridiculous." "I think you're mistaking ridiculous for charming, handsome, and sexy." I loved the push and pull between Thor and Lana, but I needed more. This is a slow burn story, so I needed more from them to keep me interested. I needed more tension, more chemistry, simply... more. I sometimes felt like I wasn't reading their story, but something else. Spoiler ahead, do not read unless you really want to.
I loved the interaction with the team, as always, and it was great to see some of the characters from past books. I loved Thor's interaction with his family as well, and that her ex got what was coming to him. Because karma!
Thor and Lana's HEA was also cute. I'm happy they found each other in this crazy world.
Having It All is book 5 in the Seattle Whalers series and here's what I loved about it.
• It's number 5 but can absolutely be read and enjoyed as a standalone. • Thor is gigantic, fiercely protective and swoon worthy sweet. • Lana is a kick a$$ female who takes charge of her life. • Supporting characters either already have a dedicated book or(I'm sure) will get one!
All of this, and an all encompassing writing style that captures the reader's attention from the first page to the last.
You will cheer on the Whalers as they play and you'll cheer on Alex and Lana as they manoeuvre their way through to an HEA. You will also cheer on the charismatic Zac as he defends our beautiful heroine's back, just like a best friend should!
Running from a dark past, Lana Landon leaves France behind in order to crash with her professional hockey player brother in his Seattle home. Lana needs to figure out what her next steps are, but it’s hard to do while dealing with Matt, her overprotective older brother. And even though Lana’s just gotten out of a hard relationship, there’s something about Alex “Thor” Bergman, one of her brother’s teammates, that she can’t quite get out of her head.
Okay, so I’ve always loved a good hockey romance, and this one did not disappoint! “Having It All” combined hockey romance combined with one of my all time favorite tropes (best friend’s little sister), and I loved it! Thor and Lana’s story was super sweet and oh so steamy, and I loved watching their relationship develop over the course of the novel.
I was also incredibly proud of Lana finding her inner strength and realizing that she is a strong, confident woman. Most importantly, she realized that no one could take that away from her. As for Thor, I think he’s an absolute dream! He may have had problems settling down in the past, but once he meets Lana, it’s like she’s the only one who matters. He’s always so caring and attentive towards her, and I loved that! Their chemistry was scorching hot, and I loved their banter as well! All in all, I definitely recommend!
Delicious. I loved characters. I love travel and eating. This book had hockey, too, which I enjoy. It has it all. The bad guys were over the top so I took away a star. It wasn't the domestic violence which was over the top but what they were "attempting" to accomplish.....
Hope I didn't spoil. It's yummy or gooey goodness.
Lana Landon has just moved continents running from an abusive ex and is currently crashing at her famous hockey brothers house. From world famous chef school in France to couch surfing at her brothers house in Seattle, Lana is lost. Until her sister in-law Mia suggests she should open a food truck which is exactly what Lana decides to do. In the mean time she's growing closer to Alex “Thor” Bergman the goalie to the Seattle Whalers. Friend to her brother and off limits. From the moment Alex laid eyes on Lana he knew he wanted to get to know her. As friends only, of course, since her brother Matt has threatened bodily harm to any of his team mates that touch his sister. But the more time he spends with his "little firecracker" the more he falls. And it's not one-sided either. There are so many obstacles in Alex and Lana's path including her brother, her new venture she's trying to get off the ground, and the playoffs for Alex. Not to mention she's been getting unknown caller calls that may or may not be her ex. Loved Alex and Lana's story and loved the rest of the crew. I will definitely be picking up the rest of the whaler's stories!
This is a well written sports romance with strong likable characters in Alex/Thor and Lana. The author brings an emotional story, fills it with suspense, violence, twists and turns and a sizzling hot romance and there's some humor and a fun banter throughout. The scenes are painted perfectly and the story moves fluidly. I enjoyed reading their story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Thank you to Emily Bunney for allowing me to read a copy of this book. I loved my time reading this. I love romances where someone in the main couple gets away from an abusive relationship. However, if you plan on going into this, PLEASE note that multiple forms of abuse are covered within the story. This book felt comforting to me and intrigued me. I also loved Lana's story, especially because she's a chef. And in this house, we stan a female chef. I also loved Zack's character. He was hilarious and I loved Thor. I just really enjoyed every single second of my read. Highly recommend it, but please proceed with caution with the triggers involved.
Another great Whalers Hockey book full of romance, spicy and love. Thor/Alex and Lana light up the pages with their banter, sexual tension and steamy love scenes. Emily has us loving the protectiveness of Alex and the sassy and feistiness of Lana. These two are so different but somehow they fit together perfectly.
Lana left Paris and her abusive boyfriend to start a new life but decided to stay with her brother Mike, a Whalers' hockey player. Well, she keeps her reasoning close to her vest as she doesn't want Mike to go ballistic. While living with him of course she meets the team and one in particular goalie, Thor, grabs her attention, but not at first. He was the most obnoxious, irritating person that she has ever met but there is something about him that intrigued her and pulls her to him. She hates hockey players and will never date one. Or will she? Will Lana be able to let another man into her life or is her past relationship keeping her from being happy. When she thinks she is got life by the horns it doesn't last When danger presents itself, how will Alex and Lana deal with it?
Thor/Alex is the Whalers' goalie and he is sexy and built like a god or should I say a viking god. He is getting tired of the puck bunny life for fun but has not met the right woman to settle down with. But does he really want to settle down? Meeting Lana, one of his teammate's sisters, he finds himself thinking about her but they have this hate to love each other relationship. No matter what he does, Lana gets under his skin just as he does to her. He knows there is more to her story on why she came back to the states because she has always wanted to be a chef in Paris. Can he get her to open up about what happened? Will he get her to let him in and show her that they would be great together?
I enjoyed the push/pull relationship between Alex and Lana. Although this is a sports romance, Emily has thrown a little suspense in to keep her readers on their toes. The suspense does deal with abuse and violence so beware if this is a trigger for you. I loved Thor and Lana together and I'm glad that we finally got their story.
This is my first time reading an Emily Bunney novel and I was pleasantly surprised by her easy-to-read style that kept me coming back to learn about the love that develops between Lana London, the sister of a professional hockey player and one of her brother’s off-limits teammates, the gigantic Swedish goalie Thor Bergman. Book five of the Seattle Whaler’s Hockey series is called Having It All, and that title was the first thing that drew me to this book! Who doesn’t want to have it all? No one I know! So, this was a great start to find Lana was a woman of substance, who acts on, and acknowledges, her desire to have it all even in a world that sometimes seems designed to not let her. Ms. Bunney earns kudos for the tactful way she forthrightly tackled the extremely difficult subject of physical abuse at the hands of a loved one. Lana is a brave young woman who engineered her clandestine escape from her ex-boyfriend with whom she was living at the time she was studying and working in Paris to perfect her culinary skills. She flees to the states with little more than the clothes on her back and goes directly to her brother’s home where Lana meets Thor who blocks the door until she identifies herself. Thor is a lady’s man and does not want to miss the chance to pounce on the beautiful woman who appears at his teammates front door demanding to speak to him. And the sparks fly between them, as they banter and spar while Thor does his best to capture Lana’s attention and interest. This book is very entertaining and hot and one I am glad I found. I am going to read the first four books in the series now that I have a new author who knows how to tell a steamy, exciting, and realistic tale!
A very enjoyable sports romance with characters who are interesting, diverse and act like adults!
Thor/Alex is a typical pro athlete who has had a few too many crazy relationship/hookups go wrong and get him negative press. His focus is on hockey and staying at the top of his game as an NHL goalie. Then he meets a little firecracker who ends up being his teammate’s very off limits younger sister, and her brother is definitely of the overprotective/alpha category.
Lana has returned to the US to escape an abusive and controlling boyfriend. She’s traumatized by her ordeal, but she’s still a kicka$$ woman who isn’t going to sit back and wallow - yes there is some initial wallowing for a few weeks and then Lana is back to her feisty self.
Their initial encounters are full of verbal sparing which get a little too much, so one of them speaks up and calls the other on the behavior and then they work towards a more friendly existence. The WAGs take Lana into their posse and help her launch a business idea. All of the characters are fun and the scenes include hockey practices/games/locker room; some parties and social events, quiet moments between Alex and Lana; brother/sister/family talks and more to keep you very involved and connected to the characters and the story.
This was my first book by the author and even though this was the 5th book in the series, I still felt welcome/comfortable with the characters and storyline. I loved Lana’s brother, Matt, and his girlfriend Mila enough to want to start at the beginning of the series and read their story.
I always love finding new authors to follow, and Emily Bunney is definitely now on my watch list!
Lana flees her abusive and controlling French boyfriend and moves to Seattle, where she starts a food truck business and befriends ice hockey players as her brother Matt is in the NHL. Alex is Matt's team mate, he's the Swedish goalie, sometimes known as Thor. There is a lot of physical attraction between Lana and Alex but they feel like they need to sneak around because of Matt and because Alex doesn't want any tension that will reflect badly on the team during the playoffs. In the meantime, Lana is getting calls from an unknown caller that make her a bit nervous.
I liked the storytelling, the flow of the language, and the characters, apart from Matt. There is some sexual content as well as on-page violence that some readers may find triggering. Her brother Matt keeps warning his team mates off Lana because he is the annoying sort of a brother who thinks he's protecting Lana out of love but really he is just a meddlesome control freak who thinks it's his job to guard Lana's virtue. This is one of my least favorite tropes because at the heart of it men controlling their sisters's sexuality like that is just another facet of misogyny. Okay, I'm off my soapbox now.
In the thumbnail I couldn't figure out the logo on the cover was hockey sticks and I thought Thor had antlers.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am loving getting to know the Whalers family - and Alex/Thor and Lana are perfect together.
Lana has been around hockey all her life and has no desire to date a player. After all she’s watched her brother move from conquest to conquest until he met Mila and finally settled down. In fact she chose cooking and studying in Paris over all that!
When her life takes an ugly and unexpected turn she chooses to return home - to her brother’s surprise! And the first person she meets is Alex and it’s definitely not love at first sight.
This story is a perfect mix of love and suspense. A tale of regret and rebirth - of letting go and finding yourself along with true love. You will be rooting for this couple from the start as they find their happily ever after with a few bumps along the way.
It was also good to catch up with everyone - and honestly I can’t wait until Knox’s story! I know it will be a good one - after all, who can resist the bad boys.
I did receive an ARC of this book from the author and am leaving my review voluntarily but rest assured my copy is on pre-order to add to all my other Whalers novels. Yep! I enjoy them that much!
This is a beautiful story, a story you don't expect and that takes you by surprise. It’s a Romance book, a sport romance to be precise, so there is love, steam and passion but there is also something else. The author faced a very delicate issue and she did it with such sensitivity that the result is outstanding. This author really knows how to write! Do you think you can still hope of 'having it all' when life kicked you so hard you barely still believe in yourself and in a future worthy of being called that? I love badass heroines in my books, strong women that know what they want in life (and in bed too!) and are not ashamed to go for it. Smart and intelligent women that can also recognize when it's time to ask for help without feeling guilty for it, and this is the beautiful message of this book: It's ok asking for support, it's ok if we have lost the control of our life and we need someone that can show us the correct way. It's also ok changing our mind. There is an universe in us, we’re women and we are strong, despite what life may throw at us. Above all, I appreciated the positive message of 'being able to find in ourselves the strength for healing from the wounds'. Of course, in real life, situations like the one faced by our heroine are more complicated and definitely difficult to face, but this is a Romance book, so the choice done by the author on how the character dealt with it for me was the correct approach to have when facing such delicate topic.Lana is a beautiful independent soul with a big dream, a dream she worked hard for and that, all of a sudden, was gone, destroyed in millions pieces exactly as her life and soul. Lana is strong though and fights back to build a new future and start with a new dream. Life this time does not only give her back what she lost, her dream, but put in her way also someone she never expected. Thor is a great character, an hot alpha male, a caveman in the form of a Hockey Viking. And, if this is not enough, he has a big heart too, he is ready to take Lana by the hand, helping her in putting back together her life and reaching again what makes her heart beats fast so that he can see her face smiling with joy. Well, Lana deserved to have such a man with her, believe me. Their story is a slow burn, the attraction is there, it quickly turns in something more, but when feelings are involved is good to slow down a bit and see where this is leading, above all when the past cannot be considered really past. The story has a bit of suspense, perfect for keeping you glued to the book till the very last word. Seeing again all the characters of the previous books made me feel like I was back at home. In the scenes where they were all together it was like I was in the room with them, listening directly from them what was happening in their lives and enjoying those moments of super funny interactions. What else should I say, this book is amazing and the only thing people should think is...Why the hell I haven't read it yet? I really suggest to start with the first book of this series to have the best experience possible with the Seattle Whalers. Enjoy the journey! I received an ARC for an honest review.
This is one of my most anticipated reads of 2022. I have loved Thor since book one of the Seattle Whalers series (if you know you know. All I'm saying is Princess Peach) and have literally been dying for @emilybunneyauthor to write him. And I can tell you I was not disappointed.
Thor is the goalie, he's funny, goofy and an absolute lovable viking beast. He's the member of the team who you can count on when you need cheering up or in need of a good night out. Which is why his mum is always on his case about him finding a GF and settling down. Queue Lana, Matt's sassy, pint-sized sister. Her and Thor have amazing chemistry and can not stay away from each other. I don't want to reveal spoilers but when Thor gets all possessive and alpha over Lana 🔥🔥 Jesus Lord you'll need a fan.
I loved getting to see all the old team together and getting to met new characters like Lana's best friend. I can not wait for more in this series.
If your in the mood for a hot, fun sports romance then I would highly recommend reading this series. Emily Bunney knows how to write the perfect alpha hero's and the hottest steamy scenes. Thank you so much for the ARC.
Lana Landon fled from her ex in France and ran home to her hockey star brother in Seattle. It was there that she crashed into Alex “Thor” Bergman, one of her brother’s teammates. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t seem to get him out her head.
The moment Alex met Lana he felt something. He wanted to get to know her as friends, but the pull toward her was strong and he couldn’t seem to shake it. Lana’s brother and his team’s captain has threatened harm to any of his teammates that touch her. But the more time he spends with Lana, the more he wants her. And not just for a fling. It’s deeper than that.
Having It All is the 5th book in the Seattle Whalers series. It was such a great story. Thor and Lana’s story was deep and fulfilling. I loved the two of them together. Lana was feisty and Thor was protective and sexy. Together they were spicy and adorable. I was rooting for them the entire book. I loved their chemistry. They had a lot of obstacles to overcome but the way the author wrote it was perfect. The two worked together and it wasn’t a bunch of unnecessary drama. I really enjoyed their story and also getting to catch up with the other players and their significant others. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Lana Landon attended Le Cordon Bleu and worked as a sous chef in a Parisian bistro. Her boyfriend was a chef from a wealthy background and was abusive to her. She flees back to the States and goes to live with her brother Matt, a professional hockey player, and his girlfriend.
Alex "Thor" Bergman is the goalie for the Seattle Whalers and best friends with Matt. His dating past has consisted of puck bunnies and gold diggers and his mother is pressuring him to get married. When he meets Lana he is gobsmacked but knows he cannot date her because of Matt. They become friends and she agrees to teach him to cook if he helps her on her food truck. They start a relationship but hide it from her brother. Her ex-boyfriend shows up and causes trouble but Alex saves her. They get their issues resolved and get their HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is Lana and Thor's story. Lana knows she has to get out of France to move on. She decided to go to Seattle and live with her brother, who is a professional hockey player. How everything unfolds next is completely unexpected by her, she definitely did not want to have feelings for Thor, because of her very overprotective brother. Their story was so sweet, with a bit of steam.
I absolutely loved all the characters, but truly enjoyed Thor. He had difficulty deciding to style down in the past, but it is clear after he meets Lana things are different. He was so caring and took care of her however he could, so romantic. Their banter was definitely fun. This story moved fast and keeps you engaged, but definitely had a twist I was expecting but also not. I highly recommend you read this book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Having it All is the Sixth book In Emily Bunny’s( Seattle Whalers Series ) and all I can say is wow !! Each book just keeps getting better and better . Alex and Lana’s journey is not a easy one . It’ emotional , heartfelt , heartbreaking, genuine , sweet , intriguing, filled with the perfect amount of darkness and suspense and many twists and turns . It is a sports romance so it does have plenty of off the charts chemistry and steamy moments as well as witty banter , angst moments, swooniness and two of the most wonderful characters you will whet meet , it was not long before both Alex and Lana had my heart . But be prepared as it does deal with some sensitive issues as emotional abuse , physical assault and some stalkerish moments. Do not miss this phenomenal book ,
Alex a/k/a Thor, the ginormous Viking goalie, meets Lana, the petite chef and younger sister of his teammate. Yep, she's off-limits. They deny their attraction as long as possible; then work to keep it a secret from her over-protective brother. There's drama/suspense caused by the abusive ex-boyfriend that she left in Paris. I loved seeing Thor and Alex interact with his teammates and the women in their lives. The story hooked me at the beginning, and never lost my interest. This is the fifth book in the series, but can be read as a standalone - I haven't read the other books... yet! I will do so, and soon, as this book was incredible. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lana leaves Paris and her abusive ex boyfriend. She end up at her brother, Matt's house to start a new business and life in Seattle. As Matt is on the Seattle Whalers Hockey Team they become part of her family. When Lana and Thor meet they are both attracted but not ready to start a relationship. As they get to know each other better their relationship changes. Thor is exactly what Lana needs as he's a gentle giant and very protective of her. I loved the storyline and the characters made the story entertaining. This is the first book of the series that I read but I plan on starting with the other book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Written in a flowing, easy-to-read style. Lana returns to the US after working and training as a chef in France. The reason is that she wants to escape an abusive relationship. Once back, she stays with her brother, a well-known ice hockey player, and meets the Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper Alex. Despite the fact that her brother is not behind it, a relationship develops. All goes well until the past resurfaces. It's an entertaining story, nice but it remains a bit superficial. A bit of an in-between story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I've not read the other books in this series, but the author made it easy to get into this book as a standalone. Lana is running an abusive ex, but with the help of her brother, she starts a business and life in Seattle. When Lana meets Thor, the rugged goalie, they are attracted, but since she is his team mates younger sister, Thor tries to stay away, but can't. These two characters were very well written, he is a gentle giant, careful with the skittish Lana. The book has great pace, sizzle, steam, and a HEA. Certainly worth a read.
I received an ARC from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
This is the first book I have read by this author and she will now be on my list to read. The characters are well developed, with great personalities, quirks and sass. The storyline hooks you from the beginning and keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. Loved the chemistry between Alex and Lana as he finds the one to finally spark his interest and she moves past a really bad relationship. The determination, fight and support the whole group shows as they all come together to support their own was wonderful. The details so vivid that you feel like you are there with them. Well done.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
How do you make a new life after running from your past? Lana is trying to make a new start in Seattle. She’s carrying secrets, trauma, but I love her feistiness too. Matt pushes her to find her dreams, to make them happen, and Alex is completely taken by her.
Lana is tiny, pocket sized, talented, and doesn’t let people push her around. Her story is powerful and for anyone who has every has a terrible relationship that wouldn’t take no for an answer.
The sex is hot, the emotions high, and works perfectly in the series.
Great Hockey romance with team goalie Alex “Thor” and teammate Matt’s little sister, Luna. Sports romances aren’t necessarily my favorite genre but I really enjoyed this one. Lana was very feisty and Thor, well, he is named after a Norse god! I haven’t read any other books in the series but it didn’t seem to make a difference with enjoying this one. I recommend it and will definitely read other books by this new to me author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lana moved to Seattle from Paris to escape an abusive relationship and be near her brother, Matt. She meets Alex, much to her over protective brothers dismay and they develop feelings for each other. Alex supports her and tries to get her to trust and open up to him. There is drama, suspense and romance. The chemistry is amazing as are the hot and steamy scenes. Their road is bumpy but Alex and Lana get to their HEA . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lana is coming back from France to start a new life after an abusive boyfriend. She is staying with her brother and his teammate, Thor. Thor and Lana both feel a connection but there are things that hold them back. I liked Thor as a character he was caring and he had been used before but is not letting past experiences color is new relationship. Lana was a strong and independent woman who is getting support after France. Thor and Lana and their interaction was wonderful. Oh and it is HOCKEY!! what could be better. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ah I loved this friends little sister story! I love when a big alpha male turns into a mushy love struck fool and this is exactly what happened with Thor! Lana is a spitfire that is also perfectly fractured from her trauma she runs from. She goes through incredible growth and transformation and comes into who she is truly meant to be.
There was also a ton of angst, passion and steamy times that had me blushing. If you love any of the above I can 100% recommend Having It All!
I liked Lana and Alex. They felt real. I liked Lana's courage to escape a bad situation and Alex's frustration with not having a special someone like his brothers. I think that they had good chemistry with each other. I liked the author's alternating pov chapters. It gave good insight into the characters' thoughts. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved this storyline of a new start for Lana, and Alex realizing there’s more to life then partying. I was so impressed by Lana in the bravery it took to leave from a difficult situation and still try to pursue her dreams. Alex was a fun loving guy with a huge protective nature towards Lana, it was great how he tried to not fall, but inevitably he didn’t stand a chance with their chemistry.
I am voluntarily leaving a review for this book that I received free.
