He would risk everything to save her, even if it means he can never go home again.
Lady Charis Burchard has long been rumored a mad young noblewoman. When word of her uncle’s murder is spread throughout her village, there is no doubt that she is the one responsible.
When the story reaches the local butcher’s shop, Philip Galahad knows better. As Lady Charis is sentenced to death, he hatches a plan to use his greatest secret to save the woman he’s quietly loved since childhood.
He knows there’s no chance that Lady Charis could ever love a simple butcher – but when she finds out his dark secret, will it be the end of their friendship as they know it?
Another great story from this author! I loved the Characters in this and how the story flowed. Charis and Phillip were a great match and I would love to see their story continue or would love a story about The King and Queen or even Lady Edith. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
I listened to this on audiobook and it was so great. It wasn't too long and felt true to the olden times the story was set in.
Philip and Charis are good characters and you get attached to them easily! I enjoyed their love story; it was good and didn't have a third act breakup!!!!👍🏼💯💯 The story was pretty smooth and satisfying.
Listening to this book was such a great idea because the narrator was a male (we get to hear Philip's voice!!) and I didn't see what was coming! 💯💯💯 Like when reading a book, sometimes my eyes will skip ahead to the next paragraph, but here, i just had to listen! Like at the beginning of chapter 4, when the book said "because i love you"... and then we think Philip said it out loud to Charis, but he was just thinking it! Ahhhhh! 🤯😩🤭❤️ I honestly would listen to this audiobook again!!
The kissing scenes were written really well and this book didn't feel cheesy (except for when the narrator did Charis' voice, hahaha! It sounded a little weird)!
Philip was my favorite character! His inner monologue and his thoughts of love for Charis were so cool to listen to.
No complaints from me! I love how this book ended! 10/10 would listen again
Philip doesn't believe for a second that Charis did what she's accused of; killing her uncle. No matter how miserably he treated her, her heart is in the right place.
After the death of her parents from the plague, she is taken in by her aunt and uncle. But after her aunt's death, her uncle soon marries another woman who treats her like one of the servants. When her uncle is found dead, she accuses Charis and she is sentenced to death that same day.
Philip cannot stand this and remembers that Charis is a niece of the queen of their neighboring country. Risking his own life, he rescues Charis from prison and tries to reach her aunt. He knows he will never be good enough as a butcher's son for a woman of her lineage. But he will protect her with his life!
You can't help but love Philip when you read about his doubts but also his love for young Charis. A wonderful story.
I received an ARC from the writer and this is my unvarnished opinion
A Beautiful Love Story: The cover is by far one of the most beautiful covers I've seen in a long time. This charming yet intense story read like a fairytale. The characters were intriguing and captured my heart. What a joy the king and queen were. Not high and mighty at all. The story was short, but it was still packed with so much excitement, desirous emotions, surprises, an awful villain, and a beautiful horse. This story was a joy to read and made me feel good at the conclusion. A shout out of Bravo! to the king when he honored Philip the way he did. I recommend this clean story for the young at heart.
This clean medieval novella was a good story! The romance was sweet and the adventure kept me on my toes. I particularly enjoyed the parts where Philip’s head and heart go back and forth. I thought that was clever! There were a few references to the Bible, primarily to 1 Corinthians 13 about love. But it did not overpower or water down the story itself, I think it’s the main reason this is dubbed Christian fiction besides the main characters praying. Overall, I enjoyed the book!
A wonderful romance with an actual hero! Not that I don’t love a heroine, but it’s a little overdone lately. Based on the time period, the hero was perfect. The king and queen’s banter was refreshing. The storyline was believable and also era correct, which helped me get transported back in time. I was definitely sucked into the book that I recommend. Book gifted to me.
I got a copy of the audiobook from the author. The book itself was amazing.
I could see being the "For fans of Melanie Dickerson." Type. Similar vibe. But I think this one is better. Almost on the historical/fantasy side with out the magic/darker side.
the narrator might be a new favorite of mine. Almost Fantasy sounding with our being cheesey.
New to me author! I received this wonderful story through a free promotional. I absolutely loved it! Dear Philip and sweet Charis was polar opposites in society, yet so perfect together. The way he always protected her was heartwarming. The only thing that would make this book better, is for it to be longer 💞
This is a short, clean HEA romance with a bit of mystery and drama thrown in for variety. The two main characters are not surprising but they are interesting and the storyline kept me reading straight through.
Disclaimer: I received this ebook from the author and this is my honest and freely given opinion.
I listened to this audiobook on Spotify and thoroughly enjoyed this story. The main characters pulled at your heartstrings and you can't help cheering them on. The story captures your attention and keeps you entertained. The narration was wonderful. And I loved the ending!
This was a lovely, clean, historical romance, filled with suspense, chemistry and moments that just made me cry. It's a short, quick read. The two main characters are so lovable and sweet with one another. It may shock you that she is only fifteen, but that was the marrying age back in the day.
The writing was good, and I was invested until the ages were revealed of the main characters. I just wasn’t comfortable with her being 15 and him 21. It talked about how they walked together when she was 12 and him 18, and that made it seem even worse.
Nice story line. Read it in under 2 hours in one sitting. Characters are believable. I recommend this book when you need to de-stress and unwind. Clean story. Some kissing is involved, but of a modest nature. Enjoy!
This was a wonderful “love conquers all” short story. The grave situation Charis and eventually Paul find themselves in screams corruption, greed and a dire need for justice. I was pulled into their plight right from the beginning and enjoyed each step and revelation along the way.
Loved the intrigue with being wrongly accused of murder, sentenced to death, being sprung from the prison cell, taken to the King and Queen for help, and then being found innocent!
This story was exceptional!! Oh how I loved Philip, his name and his character! And Lady Charis was so amazing! I loved them both and simply adored their story!! I would HIGHLY recommend this book!!
A sweet, clean story on par with a fairy tale. This was fun as a filler between heavier reads. Recommended as a light, quick read for young adults and older.
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down once started! I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, but it did not in any way affect my review. All opinions are my own..
Amazing story. An Execution for a lady, who will save her. Perhaps there’s someone, maybe even in love with her. Intriguing and well written to keep you wanting more.
This was a very quick read. It was full of action and romance. It was almost a Cinderella story, and I loved the happily ever after. I look forward to reading more by this author.
