Rate this book
Imagine for a moment that your house could tell your story. What would it say about your life and the deep secrets you thought no one else knew? The Heart of Texas introduces the Franklin Bailey family. The story, as witnessed by their house, traces the family’s life experiences from 1918 through 1933. This fifteen-year period encompasses major events such as the Great World War, the Spanish Flu, women’s suffrage, the Stock Market Crash, and the Dust Bowl. The story is set in Oak Hill, Texas, a small town on the outskirts of Austin. How did the Baileys cope during these chaotic times? Come meet the Baileys. The door is open, waiting for you.

What would your house say about your family if it could tell the story?
Families are messy. Anything can happen and most things do. Everyone in a family brings a unique piece of the family story in a home. Memories, good and no so good all work together to weave a story that is special and a one-of-a-kind family history.

I loved that the parents prayed as a couple, with their children and set such wonderful example of prayer's importance in life. Their example of unconditional love, acceptance, forgiveness and a living picture of how a family should love and respect each other is at the heart if this story.

Prayer is important to the Bailey family, but we must remember that prayer doesn't change God's mind about anything. It's important to remember that God's perfect plan was set before creation. He does not change, His plan doesn't change, but our fervent prayers can change us in so many ways.

A beautiful story. Oh, and don't forget to tap the door frame twice when you go out of the house.
