Hearing Wind
When Wind and Water combine, a storm brews, but who will be standing when it clears?
Nora and Benji have been searching for Zayden since the disastrous night in a cemetery. Nora is unable to drag answers from the magical community until Benji makes a romantic connection who is willing to risk giving them a lead. The location? ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 (4.5 stars)
Having barely finished Watching Water, I was excited to return to Nora’s story - does she and Zayden finally get involved?! They’re both Kindred; Nora is a Wolfkin and Zayden is a Bearheart like his brother, Benji. There are lots of other Kindreds and fae between these magical covers, some good-ish and some you can never trust.
Watching Water ended with Zayden (😍) running away and disappearing. Nora, his best friend, and Benji, his brother, had been searching all over for him. Months have passed and they’re still looking for him in Hearing Wind, until they’re given a clue to his whereabouts, but to find him they have to enter territory that is dangerous to Kindred. They must now put their lives at risk to find Zayden. There’s also a big race and a lot of their human friends accompany them. Could it be any more complicated? The answer is yes! (Did you get the Friends reference! If not, we can’t be friends.)
As with the first book, what I really liked about Hearing Wind is that it has it all: mystery, plot twists, romance, sex, magical creatures, fantasy, humour, friendship, and even some tasteful gay sex.
I love Nora! She has such funny expressions, such as, “Fat cottontail on a stick!” and, “What the bouncing bunny balls is that?” 🤣 It's all bunny-related. I think Nora’s Wolf is really obsessed with rabbits. Nora and her Wolf have a really great relationship. They don’t communicate verbally, but they’re aware of each others’ interests and wants. “My wolf thought going forward would be fun. She needed therapy.” 😂
Nora hates lying to her human friends about who she really is. I feel she should tell her BFF, Ruby, who is awesome. I think she’d be totally cool with it and it might also distract her from trying to hook Nora up all the time 😂.
I recommend Hearing Wind to readers who enjoy fantasy with shapeshifters, fae, and a bit of heat, but please read Watching Water first.

A.B. Herron's second book fulfilled all my expectations and continued to delight and surprise me. We get more mystery as we enter book two along with new characters who you can't help but also fall in love with. Herron's descriptions are beautiful but the connections between the characters are my favorite part. Nora trying to find Zayden and everything that happens after when she does, her budding friendship with Rowen and everything Benji. (We love Benji here.)
Having helped beta read this book, I also need to point out that with every book Herron continues to grow as a writer. If you enjoyed Watching Water, then Hearing Wind will be 100% up your alley.

Hearing Wind is the second book I've had the pleasure of reading from A.B. Herron. I received it as an ARC copy.
And it's amazing! I'm a big fan of PNR and this series definitely doesn't disappoint! The world building, the characters, all the different Fey, Wolfkin, Bearkin, and the list goes on and on... All of it, amazing!
I felt like I was in the woods in the with them. In the apartment with Akira and Nora. I felt like I was transported into mystical parts of the human world as we know it, as the Fey altered reality and dream realms.
Nora's friend Ruby continues to be one of my favorites. She keeps Nora grounded in the human world and adds an element of humor to match Nora's. We learn more about Akira, which is very interesting.
We find out what's happened to Zayden and, naturally, there's a big fight. This time, a lot of new players enter the scene and sides get chosen. Who can Nora trust to help her get Zayden back safely?
So many secrets are revealed in Hearing Wind, that it's difficult to leave a review without a ton of spoilers!
The spicy scenes are spicy, well written, and definitely hot! Seriously, run, don't walk to buy this one!!

This is the sequel to Watching Water which I absolutely LOVED. It brought me back to what I used to read early on. Ms. Herron has a good eye for writing interesting characters both old and new. If you read the first one, you should read this one too. 🐺🥰🐻

I enjoyed Watching Water so much, I was happy to dive into the second book, needing desperately to know what happened to Zayden. I couldn’t have begun to imagine where the author was going to take us, which means I couldn’t have been more delighted to find myself immersed both in a riveting story and a magical world on two levels; amazing new elemental and magical beings and the stunning backdrop of Crater Lake, Oregon. It was a fantastic ride and I got to not only enjoy Nora and Benji through their POVs and super compelling journeys but I was rewarded with a deeper dive into my favorite side characters like Ruby and Skyler (maybe the author will indulge me with a novella for these two… hmmm) and I’m in love with Rowan. I can’t wait to read more in this world.

Great storytelling!
Herron has penned another winner with Hearing Wind, the second book of her Elemental Wolf series. Picking up where her first book left off, she continues the angsty tale of shapeshifting creatures (friend and foe) fighting for what they desire most (pure or twisted). Speaking of desire, the steamy scenes do not disappoint, especially as they are beautifully balanced by excellent storytelling. I look forward to more!

Honestly my fav of series!! I adore Rowen character so much - storyline is great, characters are well done, and there is love, friendship, magic and great creatures.
