The three women have different perspectives on life,so as their surroundings. An unhappily married middle aged woman Shampa is in a toxic conjugal life,She is engorged with hatred towards her pervert husband ; The most famous glamour queen Sana who consciously overcame her age and despite being in her 40s,her surgical intervention makes her look 20; Another woman is Raisa who has come to Bangladesh on a mission from United Nation being incumbent for a special project in NGO.

Nano spy camera in tubelight starter, a fake facebook account, crematorium, DNA Report, chemical analysis of tatto- all authentic specimen found in the investigation process are used as building block to solve the jigsaw puzzle of the ongoing serial killing that take the investigators on the verge of unveilment of mystery. Will the detectives be able to unfold the conundrum,or it keeps itself adumbral as it was?

Maliha Tabassum is a Bangladeshi novelist,singer and artist. She is also keen to set her footprint in direction based on her own plot. Apart from her creative career,she completed M.B.B.S from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College. She is looking forward to pursue PhD Degree in Forensic Psychiatry in abroad soon.

She has developed inclination towards Bengali and English literature and music since her early days. Her first published piece of writing was from Jugantar and Prothom Alo newspaper back in 2012-14. She gained recognition as best classical singer and reciter in 2015 from Nazrul Academy sponsored by Tamuddin Majlish. She also achieved prize as radio personality from Radio Bhumi.

She published her first novel, "Brittobondi" which was a Romantic Spy Thriller from Annesha Prokashan in 2019. Her debut novel turned a boon for her and she started to gain popularity among readers' community. She published second novel, "Gigolo" in 2020 which was also a massive hit. It was based on male prostitution,first ever a complete fiction about male escort in Bangla.This book secured its place in top 30 novels published in 2020 by Banglamati Website's "Ekushey Shongkolon".

Her biggest break was her third novel, "Inferiority Complex". This novel introduced first ever fictional "Medical Examiner" character in Bangla. It garnered overnight stardom for her.

She achieved Rokomari Bestseller Award consecutively for "Inferiority Complex" & her fourth novel "Achilles Er Tendon",another medical thriller.
She has received Best Writer Award in Research category for her non fiction in 2025 due to insightful notion on Dictators' Psychoanalysis and July Uprising,2024. This prestigious Award was provided on behalf of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.


She has always longed for making a revolutionary change in Bangladeshi Book industry and media by taking initiatives to internationalise novel based movie adaption.
In 2025, her first directional debut work is
"Obsession is injurious to health"— a thriller screening Impress Telefilm.

Despite being a part of youth,She opts for playing a pivotal role to convert her own medical thriller fiction into celluloid. মালিহা তাবাসসুমের কোন বই প্রথম পড়লাম। বইটির নাম জিগোলো। তার অবশ্য আরেকটি বইও আছে কিন্তু আমার পড়া হয়নি। জিগোলো নিয়ে যারা একটু আধটু জানেন তাদের কাছে ব্যাপারটা ওতটা ইন্টারেস্টিং লাগেনা বটে। কিন্তু ঘটনা অন্যখানে হলে আপনি চোখ কুঁচকাবেন বৈ কি!

আমার হাতে যখন কোন কিছুর শূন্যতা থাকে তখন সেটা নিয়ে আমি অনেক ধরণের রসিকতা করি নিজেদের মাঝেই। যেমন কদিন আগে একবার খুব দরকার একটা গিম্বলের (স্ট্যাবলাইজার ডিভাইস)। আমরা দুজন বসে বসে থ্রিলার গল্প ভাবছি। দেখা গেলো হঠাৎ একের পর এক গিম্বলের মালিক উধাও হয়ে যাচ্ছে। এরপর গল্প কিভাবে আগাবে? এটা নিয়ে ভেবে ভেবে সময় কাটাই। আমি বেশ কিছুদিন আগে একটা গল্প লিখেছিলাম। গল্পের নাম দিয়েছিলাম ‘খুন হয়ে যাচ্ছে সব কাক’। আসলে মালিহার জিগোলো বইটার কাহিনী সংক্ষেপও কিছুটা এরকম। আমি লিখলে হয়তো এই নামই দিতাম- ‘খুন হয়ে যাচ্ছে সব জিগোলো’।

জিগোলো নামটার মধ্যেই বেশ বৈচিত্র্যতা আছে। বইয়ের নামগুলো যদি আপনি খেয়াল করেন, দেখবেন বিভিন্ন রঙের ও ঢঙ্গের বইয়ের নাম আছে। এটাকে রূপতাত্ত্বিকভাবেও দুই তিন ভাগে ভাগ করা যেতে পারে। ধরা যাক একটা বিশাল বাক্য একটা বইয়ের নাম। যেমন- রবীন্দ্রনাথ এখানে কখনও খেতে আসেননি। আবার হতে পারে দুইটা বাক্যের একটা মিলবন্ধন মাত্র। যেমন এঞ্জেল এন্ড ডায়মন্স। অথবা উদাহরণ দেয়া যায় দস্তয়োভস্কির বিখ্যাত বই ক্রাইম এন্ড পানিশমেন্ট নামের। কিন্তু পৃথিবীর বেশিরভাগ বই ই কিন্তু এক শব্দের! এটা একটু বলা মুশকিল হলেও এক শব্দের নামের বইয়ের তাৎপর্য আছে বেশ পুরনো। পৃথিবীর প্রায় সব ধর্মগ্রন্থের নামই এক শব্দের। আপনি যদি মুল ধারার বিশ্ব সাহিত্যের বইগুলোর দিকে দেখেন তবে দেখবেন অনেক জনপ্রিয় লেখকেরা এক শব্দের মধ্যে বইয়ের নাম বাছাই করবার চেষ্টা করেছেন। এটার আলাদা একটা বৈশিষ্ট্যও আছে। ধরা যাক আমি একটা বই লিখলাম যেটা কোন প্রার্থনার উপর। কিন্তু নামটা শুধু প্রার্থনা বা দুয়া দিলে এটার বৈচিত্র্যতা প্রকাশ পায়না। কিন্তু ভাবুন রবীন্দ্রনাথ এটার নাম বের করেছেন গীতাঞ্জলী। যেই একটি শব্দে গান আছে, প্রার্থনা আছে সাথে আছে অঞ্জলী দেবার জন্য গানের কাব্যিকতা। একটি বইয়ের নামে যতটা শৈল্পিকতা থাকে তা নির্ভর করে নামটি কত ছোট। সে হিসেবে জিগলো নামটা বেশ অন্যরকম বুঝতেই পারছেন।

এছাড়া আরেকটা ব্যাপার হলো, অনেক বিদেশী ভাষার বইয়ের নামের শুরুতেই দি বা দ্য জুড়ে দেয়া হয়। জিগোলোও যেহেতু বিদেশী শব্দ এটার শুরুতে কেন দ্য বা দি থাকলোনা? সূক্ষ্মভাবে খেয়াল করলে বোঝা যায় জিগোলোর আগে দ্য বা দি যোগ করলে এটির মুল ঘটনার বিপরীতার্থতা উঠে আসতো। কিন্তু খুব সচেতন ভাবেই লেখিকা এখানে মুল শব্দ জিগোলোই ব্যবহার করেছে।

শুধু নাম নিয়ে বলা আমার কাম্য না। তাই ঘটনার ভেতরেও যাওয়া দরকার। জিগোলো মানে হচ্ছে পুরুষ যৌনকর্মী। এটা নিয়ে আমার আগ্রহ কম তাই তেমন জানাশোনা নেই। তবুও জিগোলো বইতে আমি অনেক কিছুরই বাস্তবতা ধরতে পেরেছি। একটা ছোট উদাহরণ দেই। বইয়ের ৭৯ পৃষ্ঠায় জিগোলোর মুল চরিত্রের একটি কেসের বর্ণনা দেয়া আছে। সেখানে তিনি গিয়ে দেখেন স্বামী-স্ত্রী দম্পতি বসে আছেন। স্ত্রীর সাথে জিগোলো চরিত্র যৌনক্রিয়া করার সময় পাশের সোফায় বসে তারই স্বামী মদ খাচ্ছিলেন। এই দৃশ্যটা বেশ অভূতপুর্ণ কাল্পনিক মনে হলেও এটি আসলে সত্যি। এরকমই একটা ঘটনা আমি পড়েছিলাম বিবিসিতে। এটা কোলকাতার ঘটনা সম্ভবত। বিবিসির বর্ণনাকে প্রায় হুবুহু লেখা হয়েছে এখানে। আগ্রহীরা চাইলে আমি বিবিসির সেই সংবাদের লিংকটাও দিতে পারি। কিন্তু এখান থেকে এটা বেশ ভালোভাবেই বোঝা যায় বইটি লেখার আগে সামান্যতম সূক্ষ্ম কেস স্ট্যাডিও ছাড়েনি লেখক কিংবা লেখিকা। শুধু কাহিনী ফাঁদার জন্য সে লেখেনি বরং পড়াশোনাও করেছে।

সে যে পড়াশোনা করে লিখেছে এটার উদাহরণ দেয়া যায় আরো গভীরভাবে ভাবলে। মালিহা নিজে একজন এমবিবিএসের শিক্ষার্থী। তার কাছে মানুষের শরীরের আভ্যন্তরীন ব্যাপারে জানা আমাদের চেয়েও অধিকতর সহজ। সে উপরে বর্ণনা করা ঘটনাটা গল্পের খাতিরে লিখেই ক্ষ্যান্ত হয়নিঃ বরং তার পরের লাইনেই এটার একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত ব্যাখ্যা দিয়েছে। সে লিখেছে এটাকে ইংরেজিতে বলা হয় voyeurism। মজার ব্যাপার হলো আপনি সরাসরি এটাকে গুগল ট্রান্সলেটরে খুঁজলেও ভালো বাংলা পাবেন না। মালিহা এটার বাংলায় লিখেছে ঈক্ষনকামীতা। বেশ অসাধারণ বাংলা শব্দ। মাঝে বলে রাখি ঈক্ষনকামী নামে সেশিলি রোসদাহল এর একটি ছোট গল্প আছে। সময় পেলে পড়ে নিতে পারেন।

কিন্তু এই সুন্দর বাংলা শব্দের প্রয়োগ এটা কিন্তু পুরো বইজুড়েই আছে। যেমন আমি আরো একটি পছন্দের শব্দ দেখলাম যেটা মালিহা ব্যবহার করেছে তার নাম পঙ্কিল। আরেকটা শব্দ পেলাম বুভুক্ষু। এগুলো আমার বেশ ভালো লেগেছে। তবে কঠিন শব্দের কারণে কাঠগোট্টা লাগেনি; বরং বেশ প্রাঞ্জল লেগেছে। এমা আমিও একটা সুন্দর শব্দ ব্যবহার করে ফেললাম!

সবচেয়ে অসাধারণ যেই ব্যাপারটা লেগেছে তা বলার আগে একটু খারাপ কিছু বলা যাক। আমি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে মনে করি কিছু ফাঁক আছে গল্পের। কিন্তু ফাক-ফোঁকরগুলো এতটাই ছোট যে এটাকে ভুল বলা যায়না বললেই চলে। কিন্তু একটি আদর্শ থ্রিলার শেষে কোন প্রশ্ন থাকা উচিত নয়। আমার কাছে বিভিন্ন জায়গায় কিছু প্রশ্ন থেকে গেছে। এছাড়াও আরেকটা ব্যাপার ছিলো কিছু উত্তপ্ত মস্তিস্কের কল্পনা করা প্রযুক্তি। ফিকশনে মাথায় যা আসে তা লেখা যায় বটে। কিন্তু পুরো বইতে অসংখ্য মেডিকেল টার্ম ও গুরুত্বপূর্ন বৈজ্ঞানিক ব্যাপারে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে তাই সামান্য কিছু বানানো লেখাও বেশ চোখে লেগেছে। এটাকে কি সামান্য মন্দ বলা যায়? আমি আসলে জানিনা।

এবার অসাধারণ ব্যাপারটা বলি। ঘটনাচক্রে মাঝে একটি শব্দজটের ব্যাপার আনা হয়েছে। এবং সেটি সমাধান করার বেশ কয়েকটি জনপ্রিয় উপায় নিয়েও সংক্ষেপে ধারণা দেয়া হয়েছে। অনেকেই আগের দিনের এসব কোড নিয়ে জানেন না। আমরা ঘুরে ফিরে একধরণের কোড নিয়েও আলোচনা করি। এখানে এর থেকে বাইরে কল্পনা করা হয়েছে। এই চান্সে বলি, যারা আগ্রহী তারা আমার লেখা ব্লগ সিরিজ ‘সহজ ভাষাও যায়না বোঝা সহজে’ শিরোনামের লেখাগুলো পড়ে ফেলতে পারেন।

আসলে আমি সম্পূর্নভাবে গল্পকে স্পর্শ না করে একটি তাত্ত্বিক সমালোচনা করার চেষ্টা করেছি। প্রচলিত অর্থের রিভিউ এটা নয় এবং আমি তা পছন্দও করিনা। তবে অন্বেষা থেকে প্রকাশিত জিগোলো বইটি পড়ে আমি বেশ উপভোগ করেছি। এবং তার অন্য বইটি পড়ার জন্যও আগ্রহবোধ করছি।

This is the first time I have read a book by Maliha Tabassum. The name of the book is ‘Gigolo’. Although she has another book I haven't read it. For those who know about Zigolo, it may not seem interesting. However, those who do not know about it, their eyes will wrinkle!


When we have a void in my hand, we make a lot of jokes about it. For example, a gimbal (stabilizer device) was needed a few days ago. I and my friend two of us are sitting and thinking thriller stories. It was seen that suddenly the owner of one gimbal after another was disappearing. Then how will the story unfold? I spend time thinking about it. I wrote a story a few days ago. I named the story 'All the crows are being killed'. The story summary of Maliha's Zigolo book is a bit like this. If I had written, I would have given this name - 'All gigolos are being killed'.


There is a lot of morphological variation in the name Zigolo. If you notice the names of the books, you will see that there are names of books in different colours and styles. It can also be morphologically divided into two or three parts. Suppose a huge sentence is the name of a book. For example, ‘Rabindranath never came here to eat’ (Rabindranath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Asehnni). Again, it may be just a combination of two sentences. Such as Angel and Diamonds. Or Dostoevsky's famous book, Crime and Punishment. But most of the books in the world are but one word! Although it is difficult to say a little, the meaning of the book in the name of one word is quite old. The names of almost all the scriptures of the world are one word. If you look at the books of the mainstream world literature, you will see that many popular authors have tried to choose the name of the book in one word. It also has a distinct feature. Suppose I wrote a book on prayer. But the name alone does not reveal its diversity in prayer. But think Rabindranath named it Gitanjali. There is a song in a word, there is a prayer with the poetry of the song to pay homage. The length of a book's name depends on how artistic it is! As such, she understands the name Giglo quite differently.


Another thing is that many foreign language book names are given at the beginning of The or Da. Since Gigolo is a foreign word, why didn't it have The or Da at the beginning? A closer look reveals that adding The or De before Gigolo would have given the opposite of the original event. But very consciously the author has used the keyword Gigolo here.


I don't want to just say about the name. So it is necessary to go inside the incident. Gigolo means male escort (sex worker). I am less interested in it so I don't know much about it. Yet in the book Gigolo, I have been able to capture the reality of many things. Let me give a small example. Page 69 of the book describes a case of the main character of Gigolo. She went there and saw a couple sitting. Her husband was drinking while sitting on the chair next to her while Gigolo was having sex with his wife. This scene seems quite unprecedented fantasy but it is true. One such incident I read on the BBC. This is probably the case in Kolkata. The BBC's description is written almost exactly here. If interested, I can also give the link of that news of BBC. But from this, it is quite clear that the author left the slightest case studio before writing the book. She did not just write the story but also studied it.


The example of what he has read and written can be given by thinking more deeply. Maliha is an MBBS student. It is easier for her to know the inner workings of the human body than it is for us. She did not end up writing the story described above for the sake of the story but gave a brief explanation of it in his next line. He wrote that it is called ‘voyeurism’ in English. The funny thing is that even if you search for it directly in Google Translator, you will not find good Bengali. Maliha wrote it in Bengali. Quite an extraordinary Bengali word. Sometimes I have to say that there is a short story of Cecilie Rosdahl called Ekshanakamita (Bangal Word of ‘Ecstasy’). You can fall if you have time.


But the application of this beautiful Bengali word is all over the book. As I saw another favourite word that Maliha used her name is Pankil (bangle word of ‘pasty’). I got another word Bubhukshu (Bangla word of ‘ravenous’. I like these a lot. But even after using such a difficult word, it did not seem harsh; Rather, it is quite clear. Aww, I also used a beautiful word!


Let’s say something a little worse before saying what’s most remarkable. I think there are some gaps in the story. But they are so trivial that it would not be right to say wrong. But there should be no question at the end of an ideal thriller. I have some questions in different places. Also, another thing was the imagined technology of some heated brains. In fiction, whatever comes to mind can be written. But throughout the book, numerous medical terms and important scientific matters have been discussed, so even a little bit of fabricated writing is quite eye-catching. Is it a little evil? I don't know.


Now let me say the extraordinary thing. Incidentally, a matter of noise has been brought up in between. And there are several popular ways to solve that. Many people do not know about these codes of the previous day. We also discuss a kind of code in turn. Here’s to imagining beyond that. I have tried to make a theoretical critique without touching on the story altogether. It's not a conventional money review and I don't like it either. However, I enjoyed reading the book Gigolo published from Annesha. And I'm also interested in reading her other book.

গত বছর পড়েছি, এখন স্মৃতি থেকে রিভিউ লিখতে গেলে অন্যায় হবে। তবে উপভোগ্য বই। যেকোন থ্রিলার বইয়ের কাছে পাঠকতো এটাই চায়। নামটাও আগ্রহ জাগানিয়া। আরও একটা ব্যাপার এই লেখিকার থ্রিলারগুলো বাংলাদেশ বা ঢাকার অনেক পরিচিত জায়গাকে ঘিরে লেখা । কোন লেখায় পরিচিত জায়গা উঠে আসলে ভালো লাগে।
