International Bestselling Author, Ally Vance, comes Dissever, a captivating and haunting retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's classic "Annabel Lee."
A soft voice calling on the wind, the sound of a lost soul beckoning me to join her in the abyss. Tragedy tore us apart, stealing my love and leaving me lost in a desperate purgatory. I'm haunted by visions of my lost love… of her being trapped and wandering the realms between this world and the next. I hear her… every night, crying for me, begging for me to save her. How can I save a departed soul, while I still walk the planes of a world her ghostly feet will never touch again? How can I bring her peace, when fate was the one to dissever us? Stolen kisses, forbidden touches under moonlit nights… and a dark secret that should never be brought to light. Dissever is a standalone story, part of the nine book series by various The Enigma Society.

Listen, I've only read one poem by Edgar Allen Poe in secondary school and that was it. It was depressing and bleak. I naively thought this book would give us a happily twisted spin albeit a darker ending to the story.
This? It was twisted alright. Just not in the way I expected. It was just tragedy after tragedy and ended in a tragedy. Apt since it was inspired by Poe's poem.

I am loving all these Enigma Society books! This one is a little dark and a bit creepy. Keep in mind that these are Poe retellings and definitely tragedies.
3.5 stars. That ending is so heartbreaking! 😭 This is the 2nd book in “The Enigma Society” series. It was a muuuuuuch better read than the first book (Insidious).
