[ PG-13] The Twenty-first novel in the award-winning "Tropical Frontier" series, "The Good Mother" is, in addition, the Third novel in the "Outpost" sub-series. It astounded Mary Addison to this day, the unwitting prejudices she once held for them, these who now called her Good Mother. She adored them; as they did her. Life can be like that, though, brimming with surprise, and revelation.
Tim Robinson is a third generation Floridian, his grandfather having taken up a 100 acre homestead on Cape Canaveral in 1924. It was his grandfather and father who instilled in him a love for everything Florida. Tim grew up in West Palm Beach, halfway between saltwater Lake Worth and freshwater Lake Mangonia, where he spent his childhood and youth traipsing through the woods or biking over to the beach or taking in the wonders of Florida in some fashion or another. He lives with his wife, Connie, on a small farm in Indiantown, Florida.
This was a GoodReads giveaway book. I loved this story! It was well written and truly pulled me in. I felt like I was on adventures with Alvin and could feel Mary's love for everyone around her. I love the way she, well, everyone really, gave humanity to the big oak tree, Bob, as her late husband, John, named him. It was a truly moving story and I HIGHLY recommend this book, especially to fans of historical fiction!
I really enjoyed this book. For me to give a book 5 stars it needs to draw me in and get invested into the characters. This book definitely did. It was a giveaway and downloaded to my kindle. To some 500 plus pages is long, but I wanted the book to continue with all of the characters.
Absolutely excellent as with the rest of the books in the series.
I do wish that I could find a list of them in chronological order. I have noticed that the later in the series I get the less chronological the books are and it would be nice to read them in the chronological order to keep the characters straight in my mind.
