Clover Park #1-3

Clover Park Boxed Set Books 1-3: The Opposite of Wild / Daisy Does It All / Bad Taste in Men

Rate this book
An alternative cover edition for this ASIN can be found here

The Clover Park Boxed Set includes three full-length novels: The Opposite of Wild, Daisy Does It All, and Bad Taste in Men. I wrote this series so one story picks up where the previous story left off, which makes it fun to binge read all together.

Book 1: The Opposite of Wild
Ex-cop Ryan O'Hare takes one look at buttoned-up control freak Liz Garner and just itches to loosen the woman up. Not that he’s into her. Because a woman like that comes with way too many expectations. Not to mention, she practically works for him, and he didn’t hire Liz to watch after his beloved Harley-stealing Gran so he could turn Liz loose in his bed. Still, there’s something about her, a hidden wild side, that makes him wonder what it would take.

Book 2: Daisy Does It All
Exhausted single mom Daisy Garner is shocked when her blog about her perfect life with husband and baby brings a national talk show to her door. Amazing! Except she made the whole thing up. Enter Travis O'Hare, her fake husband, who's intent on becoming the real deal.

Book 3: Bad Taste in Men
Rachel Miller knows opening a café will make her struggling bookstore the place to hang out. But when the bank turns her down and her best friend Shane O’Hare steps in, the café suddenly has too much riding on it—her career, her best friend, and her heart.

3 Very Tepid Stars

I'm not sure why but found myself unable to be excited or truly engaged with any of the 3 stories in this collection, especially the last book which I gave up on.

3 stars because the first book was okish, but won't be reading these books ever again.

Read the first one. Could barely stomach it. Liz is so self righteous and the worst kind of know it all. Her "quirk" of organization, lists, color coding, etc were annoying and sometimes cruel, not charming as I'm sure they were intended to be. These people seemed terrible and I have no desire to continue reading anymore.

Clover Park Boxed Set Book 1-3

This is the first three books of the Clover Park series. The O'Hate brothers meet the love of their life. Ryan (The cop), Travis (The landscape owner) and Shane ( The ice cream chef) and the women they love Liz (The teacher), Daisy (bad girl turn mother) and Rachel (The book store owner), all find happiness. Great stories

Hooray for the O’Hares

I love the O’Hare men - Ryan, Travis and Shane. They can be a little clueless at times, but they all have big hearts and lots of love for the women they set out to get. And , boy, how these women can be a frustrating group. Each one has hangups from past relationships and can be stubborn as hell, especially Shane’s “ business partner,” Rachel. But thankfully, they all wind up conquering their fears and then love conquers them. I loved the brothers’ grandmother, Maggie. She is a whirlwind of energy and doesn’t take any prisoners! Her love for her grandsons is inspiring and makes you wish you could stop by her home and share a cup of tea and wisdom with her. I am looking forward to reading more of the Clover Park series. This author is fun to read and although there are not a whole lot of steamy scenes, the ones that are written warm up the reader quite nicely.

Clover Park is one of my favorite small town series! Each book features a different couple, and I love that other couples make a cameo. It's one big happy and quirky family. Kylie's books always bring a smile to my face, I laugh, and I've been known to shed a few emotional tears at times as well. This is the perfect bundle to get yourself acquainted with the characters from Clover Park.

I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys stories that are laugh out loud funny, steamy, and oh so romantic, with wonderful characters both male and female.

OPPOSITE OF WILD - A horribly embarrassing incident when she was 13 has left Liz Garner fearing ever seeing Ryan O'Hare again, but it seems fate keeps throwing them together. When Liz answers an ad for an elder care position during her summer break from teaching it turns out it's for Ryan's grandmother. She has been on a spree of behaviors that could endanger her life and Ryan is very worried about her. Liz's attempts to stear clear of Ryan seem to be futal especially when grandma starts butting in throwing them together even more. Meanwhile Liz's sister finds herself in trouble and responsible Liz finds herself trying to solve everyones problems.

Ryan is determined not to get involved in any kind of permanent relationship but getting under Liz's skin is just too tempting and the more he sees buttoned up, up-tight Liz come unraveled the more he wants of that.

I especially loved Ryan's grandma Maggie and the antics she gets into and can't wait to read more of the set involving this family.

DAISY DOES IT ALL - I love the Clover Park series. The small town is full of all kinds of fun characters. The O'Hare brothers and Garner sisters are just a few. Travis O'Hare has been trying to get Daisy to take him seriously for almost a year now. After a random night together results in an unplanned pregnancy Travis has been trying to do the right thing and marry Daisy so he can be a full-time father to Bryce.

Daisy is terrified of commitment after Max divorces her right after she miscarries their baby. But a late night of shots with an old friend leaves her a single mom nine months later. Determined to get her life back on track she ignores Travis' multiple marriage proposals and devotes all her time to caring for their collicy son, working and her blog. So what if she exaggerates a little, okay, a lot, on her blog. Portraying herself as the perfect wife, mother and woman isn't hurting anyone and she has thousands of women admiring her. Everyone else she knows thinks she is nothing but a screw up. Until a national talk show wants to do an interview with her and her Darling Husband and Baby Delight. How can she pull off the perfect family by the end of the week?

Super cute story about two people who have messed up more than most throughout their lives and who both are trying hard to prove they have changed and grown up but still struggle to get it right.

BAD TASTE IN MEN - Rachel Miller is struggling to keep her head above water with Book It, her book store in Clover Park. However, she has a plan to turn things around if the bank will just grant her the business loan she needs to expand into a coffee shop next door. Her best friend Shane has been nothing but supportive, and even though she has contemplated her growing feelings for the owner of Shane's Scoops across the street, her short list of failed relationships has made her realize she would never jeopardize their friendship by crossing the line with Shane. But when her worst fear is realized it is Shane that comes to her rescue. When Rachel realizes the extent that he has gone for her how will she react?

Shane O'Hare owns a successful gourmet ice cream shop in Clover Park and will go to any lengths to help his best friend Rachel see her dreams come true, even if it means selling his most prized possession so she can combine her store with a coffee shop next door. He's been falling for this woman for two years, listening to her every hope, every dream, and every sad break up. Now it's time to let her know how he truly feels. But, when the two become business partners will they be able to work together while their budding romance is also growing or will Rachel's worst nightmare destroy any chance of them finding happiness?

THE OPPOSITE OF WILD
This book is the first in Ms. Gilmore’s series titled , Clover Park. I have listened to most of the books in the series, but somehow, I had missed this one and I am so very glad I finally got to it.
We have Ryan O’Hare , ex-cop, now PI, and one of 3 brothers. Gran Maggie, a funny, lively woman and one that the O’Hare brothers think needs a keeper.
Liz, an uptight, school teacher and one that has a teenage history with Ryan.
Liz is hired to “sit” with Maggie and keep her out of trouble. Not that it stops Maggie :)
Needless to say, chemistry exists between Ryan and Liz, but Liz is reluctant to get too serious since she believes Ryan doesn’t want a commitment.
If you are up for frequently funny, family crisis, a cast of characters that are unique and entertaining, plus romance between seniors as well as between 30 something, this is the story for you.
I have listened to books 5-10 of this series, and loved each one, so I thought it was appropriate to listen/read to previous stories.
I am amazed how Ms. Gilmore finds subjects so diverse in each of these stories, and still keeps the essence of the town of Clover Park, and the connection the main and secondary characters have with each other.

DAISY DOES IT ALL
In this story we have Daisy, a single Mom that has a popular blog . A blog that is all made up. She depicts herself as a happily married woman, with a devoted , sexy husband, an angelic son, living in a Victoria home, as well as being a fabulous cook and a very organized homemaker. When in fact none of these things is true.
Travis O’Hare , her one night stand, is the father of her son. He has a place in his son’s life, and has already asked Daisy to marry him, for the sake of the baby. She has refused each time.
Now Daisy gets a call from a tv show that wants to go to Clover Park not only to meet her, but spend time with her and her “family”. Travis volunteers to be the “husband” so long as she agrees to marry him. She agrees to the “blackmail” .
When the tv production company and the talk host arrive, Daisy is in for more than one surprise and the lies starts to unravel.
Lots of drama, a wonderful cast of secondary characters, scenes that will make you laugh out loud (like the one with Travis in the snow) and others that will be heartbreaking.
The story is also a reminder that even though we make mistakes in life, those are really lessons to be lived so that we can mature and learn that life is messy and untidy , but in the end perseverance and love will prevail.
Another engaging story by this talented author.

BAD TASTE IN MEN
Another charming story by Ms Gilmore in her Clover Park series.
This time we have Shane O’Hare ,and Rachel Miller. Shane is the owner of the town’s gourmet ice cream shop and has been in love with Rachel. Rachel, is the owner of the local bookstore, that is on the verge of closing if she doesn’t create a draw . Her solution is opening a cafe next to the bookstore. She considers Shane a friend . She tends to gravitate to losers as dates, while Shane stays in the sideline.
Shane decides to go into partnership with her and sacrifices a special possession to make her dream come true.
But more than the storyline, it’s a story of a woman full of insecurities. Her way of keeping men and marriage away from her, is to date losers. A woman who fears to give part of herself especially to Shane.
We are also reminded that families can be messy but loving , that life is not perfect but that love does overcome everything , when you find the right partner.

Thank you , Ms Gilmore , for another “trip” to Clover Park and it’s inhabitants.

Disappointing box set and book 3 spoils the set completely

Books 1 and 2 are okay, but avoid book 3 unless you enjoy bitchy unlikeable female characters paired with doormat male characters. I do like strong male and female characters , but many authors make the mistake of thinking strong female characters have to be bitchy or nasty to be strong. It's a shame because all three books in this set had decent plot ideas and the potential to be the start of a really great series . But it felt like all three books just missed the mark. To be fair the first and second books were passable as stand alone books . However in book three, Rachel the lead character is so self absorbed and unlikeable that 10 minutes into the book you are hoping that Shane leaves her to it and finds someone who deserves him. It just didnt seem believable that he would accept the way she behaved towards him, and still just keep coming back for more , unless he had mug written across his forehead and that isn't a good character trait for a male lead character in a book . The book itself wasnt well written and the relationship didnt really seem to get off the ground , it just seemed to plod along until they ended up in bed . I struggled to finish the last book. By the time they started to get together , I just didn't care about the characters anymore . I started to feel Mr Doormat deserved everything Miss Bitchy threw at him simply for putting up with it. Then when after getting together , Miss Bitchy started 'having doubts again ', and pushing Mr Doormat away again,I literally just had enough. I stopped reading at 95% of the way through the set . Lacklustre plot and unlikeable characters .
Books 1 and 2 of the trilogy would be okay for beach reads as long as you don't expect too much . So my advice would be, if you really want to read this trilogy, skip the box set and just read 1 and 2, skip 3 .

This is the series that got me started reading Kylie Gilmore. I loved the characters. They have stuck in my head for three years since I read these books the first time. This box set has been a good excuse to go back and reread them!
Liz and Ryan get things started when he hires her to stay with Maggie, Ryan's grandmother. Maggie is a riot! She sees the potential between Liz and Ryan and makes sure they get things worked out.
Daisy and Trav are a complicated couple. I didn't like Daisy much the first time I read the book, but this time I realized that I had missed some things. I respected her more on the second reading. I loved that Trav knew what he wanted and did his best to get it.
Rachel and Shane are so cute! They danced around each other for the first two books. Rachel has some big fears to work through, but there is no way she could resist Shane. He is a doll baby. I also fell in love with Barry in this book and was so happy when he got his own HEA in Almost in Love.
These are fun books. There are some sad or difficult things along the way, but things don't get too angsty. My favorite parts are when common tropes are turned around like the snowed-in group or the Prride and Prejudice spin. I recommend this set for a great start on Ms. Gilmore's world!

I was hovering between "it was ok" and "okay I sort of liked bits of it", to be honest.
Although I like the plots as such in each of the three stories, the events unfolding, the reaction and actions of the protagonists, and the permanent to and fro between them (repetitive) did put me slightly off.
The first book is at least halfway "believable", the other two, speaking of reality in respect of character behaviour and dialogues, are just getting worse, I am sorry to say. They are not bad or horrible as such, but - I did catch myself rolling my eyes on a regular basis.
The protagonists, despite what happened to them in their pasts, did not have enough depth to really get my sympathy, on the contrary, my reaction developed more and more into "gee, grow up and get over this juvenile behaviour". Pardon my language, but... shit happens, and as long as it's not something really horrible, using it as a reason for pages and pages of a protagonist's indecisiveness just is not what I like reading.
And do not get me started on the frequent spelling and admittedly occasional (still too many) grammar/sentence structure failings.

Not My Thing.

These three stories feature men without a whole lot of boundaries. Particularly the 2nd and 3rd. (I liked Shane in the first story; by the time I got to the middle of the second chapter of his story. I was rooting for Rachel to toss him out of her apartment window.)
I dislike stories in which women are "tamed" by men, or vice-versa. Where they need to be rescued, and then suddenly "see the light", that the man (or woman) they've been resisting (who has been chasing after them & not respecting their wishes) is the love of their life.
I found the second book particularly problematic. The "hero" claims to love the "heroine", yet he keeps pushing her to do things she doesn't want. And, at one point, scoffs when she tells him about a job she's thinking of trying. The love story just wasn't plausible. (She's also surrounded by family and friends who constantly criticize and belittle her, but do a 180 at the end. Again, not believable.)
Finally, the flashback sequences were awkward.
Sorry, just not my cup of tea.

This series is a lot of fun to read and has some great twists and turns. I stumbled upon this author with a free read of the first book in this series and I was hooked. These stories made me laugh out loud in public (yes I got that look from strangers walking by), made me cry and was just a great way to escape every day life.

The O'Hare brothers and their awesome Matchmaking, Harley-stealing Gran make the kind of stories that stay with you long after you close the book. I so want to be Maggie when I grow up. Ryan and Liz are a classic case of opposites really attracting. Travis and Daisy are both wild care fee souls that come crashing down to earth at the same time when they fall for each other. Shane and Rachel start out as friends and take their sweet time becoming the perfect partners everyone knows they are meant to be.

Three hot blooded out of the world sexy men and the amazing women they fall for, who could ask for more. I happily look forward to reading more about this town and the fun people that live there.

I love all of Kylie's books and this box set is fantastic!
To me, Kylie's writing gets you hooked and takes you right into the story with the characters as though you're walking right alongside them as they live out their days in Clover Park.

I hate giving things away in reviews, and I've reviewed them individually too, so here's a simple breakdown of my thoughts:
I loved the connection between Liz and Ryan and how her past embarrassment wasn't as bad as she thought.

Daisy and Travis were great together and the way they came together was both difficult and confusing for her as she struggled to understand Travis' feelings for her, wondering if they were real or just because of her baby.

Shane and Rachel were great friends that had feelings thrown at them from every angle, only Rachel didn't want to ruin things by acting on them. A wonderful story of friends to lovers.

First one is the best

I loved Ry and Liz. There was enough subplot that it wasn't all romantic angst. Daisy and Travis were okay. I love that the baby wasn't perfect. Shane and Rachel left a bad taste in my mouth. She was okay as a support character in Liz's story, but was turned into a complete b word in her own story. I kept thinking she's not friendly, she's a coward, and she is clueless why would anyone like her let alone love her. She runs her shop into the ground and then has the nerve to hate Shane, who runs a successful food business, for actually trying to make their cafe well run machine.

This box set is a great opportunity to start this amazing series. The girls are very relatable as they face regular life struggles and the ups and downs of finding their forever love. The stories make you laugh, get emotional and have fun with the occasional pranks played by an meddlesome granny. To make it even better, they are friends and we get to hear from all the friends on each book, despite they being complete stand alone. I read those books first a few years ago and enjoyed rereading them again now. Good to have them available for when we need some fun and quiet reading time.

I loved The Clover Park box set 1-3 by Kylie Gilmore. It was great to read the Clover Park books as a set and I thoroughly enjoy reading each book in the set again. I loved the characters in the Clover Park series they really make you laugh. Maggie as the O'Hare boys grandma and matchmaker is irrelevant and totally a sweet loving grandma. The Clover Park series are witty, romantic and well worth your time to read. Truly a wonderful box set and I highly recommend reading it. I received an ARC copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

When I first started reading this set, I found it not my cup of tea, I’m a coffee fan, I needed more excitement, so I put it down and read something else. Finally I picked it up again and gave it another go, then I met Maggie, she’s a hoot! So funny I couldn’t stop laughing, a pity she didn’t buy the Harley tho, but there was fun just shopping for one 😂
The second book was pretty much like the first but the third......yeah not a big fan of Rachel, so stubborn! Shane sounded like a great catch, she took forever to see what was right in front of her all along

What a wonderful set of romances! They all follow from one to another so that you have the feeling of one gigantic book. Each are marvelous stories of matchmakers, romance, small towns & well meaning friends. The romance comes through in each interaction between the couples & with their friends. The humor was surprising but it always hit the perfect tone! Maggie & her irreverent ways made the entire collection!!

Just stupid...

Why did you have to make Rachel seem like an airhead who couldn't make a decision or even confront her feelings? Too drawn out and after a while, it became boring with her going back and forth with Shane about nothing really...and the part where she started hitting him? Where in the hell did that come from? So you turned her into a violent airhead, incapable of making decisions? Waste of my time.

Too long winded

The characters of all three book are great in the beginning, they capture your attention.

I love Maggie she's great, she's the best in all three book's.

I did not like how long it took all the females characters in all three book's to figure things out. they took forever to figure things out .

There was too many thoughts and things not being said out loud .

It just too long winded these stories, they started off great then it was done hill from there.

I'm afraid this series just irritated the hell out of me... Three prickly women, so determined that men were all untrustworthy and they would be independent women who didn't need a partner. So 'natch, they all wound up with perfect, patient men. Daisy the selfish flake was bad enough but the last one was especially infuriating. Shane put up with the friend zone for two years! I fail to see anything about Rachel to even attract a man, let alone keep him trying for that long. *shrug*

I like stories based in a small town.
Three delightful stories follows a different couple, but the surrounding people in the town are wonderfully crafted characters. I secretly want to be like Maggie when I get older.
Liz and Ryan, Debbie and Travis, and Rachel and Shane all get their own HEA. I liked that the boys are brothers and they were raised by their grandmother after their mother dies and their father couldn’t cope.
Liz and Debbie are sisters and Rachel is Liz’s best friend.

Great Series!

From book one through three, I loved reading about the brothers and their crazy love lives. The stories were very entertaining and each one was so vividly told, I found myself picturing each O'Hare gentleman and their chosen woman and their plight in my mind. I even pictured Gran and her love, Jorge! I loved this series!

This boxed set consists of 3 books, all of which are rather average romances. The heroines are dull, the heroes are really borderline abusive and needed to be kicked into touch big-time, and they all have the same storyline, which is unfortunate. I did rather like Maggie, the feisty grandmother, but there's not enough of her throughout the series. I won't be continuing this series.

3 Brothers

Two Sisters and a Best Friend. These are three wonderful stories about finding love. I love that even grandma finds her second chance at finding love. Each couple have known each other for a lot of years but it takes a bit of luck to bring love to each couple.
