"I was sick and tired of being pushed around by the opposite sex, overlooked, dismissed, and taken advantage of."
This is the story of Kay and what happens when she has finally had enough.
Everything about the day is going wrong. To start she's been taunted by her pompous soon to be ex-husband who recently left her for another woman, at work she is overlooked for a promotion she was guaranteed to a young up and comer who just happens to be a man half her age and with half her experience, and thinking things couldn't get any worse she is practically run off the road by some jerk in his flashy car. Having finally had enough she follows the jerk to his house where she gives him a good telling off. He, of course, dismisses her as a crazy person which only stokes the fire of her rage further.
A minor detail she may have wanted to consider is that he lives just up the street from her so they will likely cross paths again.
Instead, Kay returns home and decides a bottle or two of wine is what she needs to shed the stress of her day. One glass, two glasses, three glasses, four - when a thought pops into her head. Who did that jerk think he was talking to her like that anyways? It's time to teach him a lesson with a little petty vandalism.
Problem is she has no idea who she is up against and this guy isn't going to let her off the hook that easily. Did Kay just invite a psychopath into the lives of her and her children?
While this isn't the most original story it was a proper page-turner. It's a popcorn popper where you just have to know what's going to happen next and how low these people are willing to go. I liked Kay a lot. She's a great mom to her 16 year old twins, a good friend, and an excellent employee. This is a story of when someone who has always played by the rules, snaps in moment of weakness, and the repercussions that are felt from it. I felt the ending was perfectly befitting to the story. I will gladly check out more books by Gemma Rogers! 4 stars!

Everything I look for in a psychological family based drama thriller was here tbh, it was pretty perfect reading Kay, scorned and belittled at home and work and now while driving home decides enough is enough and seeks revenge, not knowing however how one little payback will start a feud with unthinkable consequences, while she battles to remain in control everyone else seems to be doing all they can to take over her life Its tense and some of the characters she deals with ( especially at work and also one of the main characters Simon ) caused me to be riled up and I was on her side, shouting support ( literally ) and hoping she and then they got their just rewards Now Kay isen’t perfect, she makes mistakes along the way, who doesn’t but that just made her more likeable in my eyes An excellent sit back and enjoy book, instantly accessible and easy to read, as say it really was a perfect book for me
Once again, I am wearing my "I Am An Outlier" shirt.
Unlike the majority of GR reviewers, I was not a fan of "The Feud".
To the author's credit, I loved the book's premise: A female protagonist is fed up with being taken advantage of by the opposite sex and TAKES ACTION.
I found the protagonist to be whiny and the book's dialogue to be repetitive. I listened to the audiobook and many times I was tempted to push the stop button.
When listening to an audiobook, a narrator can either make or break a book.
I am a huge fan of author Gemma Rogers and I truly believe that the problem I had with this book can be attributed to the book's narrator, Imogen Church. The narrator's whiny voice was very irritating.
Gemma Rogers' "The Babysitter" was a 5-star audiobook also read by Imogen Church. (Huh?)
Perhaps my listening experience between the two audiobooks differed because Imogen Church assumed the voice of the whiny protagonist in "The Feud"?
Gemma Rogers is a talented writer and I will be looking forward to her next release.
This book had me screaming at the main character Kay at one minute and the next, I was rooting for her.
Kay is married to Jonathan they have twins a boy and girl teenagers. One day Jonathan decides to move out as he says he no longer loves her and moves on with another woman.
Kay is in turmoil and one day she gets cut up on the road by a guy in a flash car, not only was this the last straw this man is like no other as she realises he lives in the house she has always dreamt of. She keys his car thinking that would be the end of it but no. The police turn up she lies and things go downhill.
This man Simon Fox has his hands in so many pies and the more she learns about him the worse things get. Soon she is in fear of her safety while fighting her employers not to mention her estranged husband.
The level of deception in the behaviour of her husband makes her realise too late that a deal has been made by the devil and not only is she a target but those she holds dear will be affected.
How will it all end and will she live to rue the day her path ever crossed with Simon Fox.
The day my path crossed with Simon Fox I thought I had already lost everything. But then he ran me off the road with his flash car and belittling jibes. The men in my life had undermined me for too long. Enough was enough. Fuelled with alcohol and the desire to get even, I decided a spot of petty vandalism would make me feel a whole lot better.
Kay and her husband Johnathon have separated. She is also having problems at work. Then she has an altercation with Simon Fox, who nearly ran her off the road. All the men in Kay's life seem to treat her badly - including the men she worked for.
Kay has a good friend in Claire. Claire is always there to give Kay a shoulder to cry on. All Kay really wants in life is to give her eighteen year old twins, Rachel and Ryan, a better life. Kay is far from perfect, but her intensions are good. Except for Simon Fox. She didn't know the can of worms she was opening when she took her revenge on Simon fox. An easy book to read that held my attention throughout.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #GemmaRogers for my ARC of #TheFeud in exchange for an honest review.
At first, I had a little trouble getting into this book, but I hung in there. So glad I did. An action packed read with plenty of twists and turns. I did think the author overused wine drinking as a way to fill gaps. I overlooked this for the most part and enjoyed the read.
I feel like this book was a waste of my time. It wasn’t horrible. I was just waiting on more to happen and it really didn’t. Very predictable and repetitive.
This one starts off sooo slow - so much so that you aren’t really sure even what it’s about and are just waiting for something to happen. That and the main character is so stupid. Like frustratingly so. Like how can someone be that dumb. But somehow the writing was still okay (and not the worst book I’ve ever read).
I have been a fan of Gemma’s work for a couple of years now. I have read and loved every single book that she has released to date. I read the synopsis for ‘The Feud’ and it certainly sounded like the sort of read I have come to expect from Gemma- a tense, gritty, gripping and dramatic thriller. Well ‘The Feud’ was certainly all that and so much more. I loved reading ‘The Feud’ but more about that in a bit. As with all of Gemma’s books, I was drawn into ‘The Feud’ from the synopsis alone and the story sealed the deal as it were. It’s fair to say that this book developed a hold over me from fairly early on and it was a hold that I wasn’t willing to break. I found that I couldn’t put the book down for very long at all. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story even if parts of the story made me shiver. I had my own theories as to what was going to happen so of course I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down the wrong path entirely. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘The Feud’. I found ‘The Feud’ to be an unputdownable, page turner of a read. The story was gritty, gripping, tense and dramatic and I loved it! ‘The Feud’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Gemma Rogers. She certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be a compelling story. For me, this was a slow burn type of read, which suits the story that Gemma is telling. As the story continues, the pace accelerates and leads to a tense and dramatic conclusion. Reading ‘The Feud’ felt like being on at times scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. I love the way in which Gemma makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That’s how I felt anyway. In short, I loved reading ‘The Feud’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of Gemma’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
#blogtour stop again and what a cracker of a read @gemmarogersauthor @bookandtonic @rachelsrandomresources REVIEW BELOW ~ LINK IN BIO 5 STARS Cracking psychological read from Gemma Rogers. A perfectly simple concept that takes so many turns it leaves you reeling, how can one small act, done out of frustration and a bit to much vino change the course of someone’s life so dramatically?
This is definitely one of those increible books that once you’ve read the synopsis you’re hooked. It is an absolutely brilliantly written book with a growing tension for Kay for that you start feeling really scared for her. She does make some silly decisions along the way but in all honesty if I found myself in her place I would be all over the place too. Mind you some of her decisions are born out plenty of alcohol consumed with her best friend. I began to have my doubts about her (the best friend), saying no more on that. Mind you after a few more chapters I began to doubt everyone. One dreadful situation after another and I really was on the edge of my chair. This is one of those, “I need to keep reading” books.
The characters are written with an honesty that makes them totally believable and “there by the grace of my actions go I” it really could happen to anyone. I loved how the tension builds throughout the book and what was a quite small incident becomes the worst thing that Kay could ever have done. Everyone around her becomes involved, her friends and even her two children. It becomes immensely suffocating for Kay and she just can not see a way out. I would highly recommend this book and indeed Gemma Rogers, I love her books. Her writing style is just epic. How will it all end? who will win? Well you just need to grab a copy, a vino and jump right in. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #blogger #bookblogger #bookreview #bookreviewer #avidreader #psychological #thriller #tension #fabbook #nikipreston
Fast paced thriller that’s well worth the read! I have to admit, I went through the whole book disliking Kay‘s character. I found her depressing, needy, and selfish at times. Then my dislike for her was overshadowed by my hatred for Simone Fox. Oh what and interesting and demented character. It’s terrifying to think that there are people out there that really are as unstable as Mr. Fox. They won’t stop at anything to get what they want and that was made blatantly clear. He used her husband, her children, and her best friend. He was seriously demented and you started to feel bad for her even though you couldn’t stand her. Some items in the story you saw coming the whole time. Simone being Owen…shocker? Not at all. Disappointing though. I like how at the end Kay finally finds her backbone and stands up fully for herself and shows that she will be a strong and independent mother for her twins.

4 stars This is a great domestic/neighbor thriller about a newly single mom of two teenagers who has tumultuous relationships with her ex, her boss/coworkers, and her awful neighbor.
A simple stupid mistake leads to a life changing series of events with twists and turns leaving you wondering who to trust. It’s a very clever book that in true Gemma Rogers style leaves you on the edge of your seat not just at the climax but throughout the book.
I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something to get yourself immersed into.
Enjoyable read. Lot's of angst and hoping it would all work out for the MC. A very unlikeable neighbour escalates a fairly minor situation into a horrible sequence of events. Well written and a satisfactory end. Will read more of this author's books.
Dear, oh dear......a new author to me and I paid for this book as it sounded right up my street. The story WAS, as it turned out but she acknowledges three people by name taking care of editing and proofing and they need stringing up !! The presentation nearly had me throwing in the towel around 60% in, where I considered I had to stick it out as I'd come too far and again around 80%.....I was just so distracted and irritated by highlighting mistakes the whole way through, till it ruined the whole experience for me. I wanted to read Stalker by her as well but won't be now, I'm afraid......it was written before this one so therefore I'd imagine it to be in a poorer state than this one. I did enjoy the story, though I despised our leading lady with a passion. All she does is DRINK and drink and drink.......pretty much each and every spare minute she gets she's slinging wine down her neck. Then wonders why she makes so many pisspoor decisions !! There were moments of levity that made me giggle here and there which I liked. We did get told three or four times that Simon's house was ruined by his tarmacked drive, though..... These mistakes, though.......commas for starters. Plonked into sentences where they're not needed or in place of fullstops where she should be starting new sentences. This happened a lot. Then dropped where they ARE warranted. Of all those women she acknowledged, at least one of them should have a clue how to utilise them properly ! Also, there are apostrophe issues, mostly where they're not getting used. Sentences like this, "I hated the quiet, from what had been a bustling home, life had withdrawn from it." Awful English, terrible use of punctuation altogether. Same goes for this passage, "Ryan was the more troublesome one, when he wasn't playing Xbox and ventured out with his friends, he'd come home stinking of weed, red-eyed and spaced out." This sentence either needs to lose 'but also' or 'too'...."....but also the introduction of a new girlfriend too." Then this sentence is self-explanatory, "Was he was leaving ?" Many times questions were asked with no question marks used. She persistently wrote text and not texted, too. We had sloped not slopped, cut and dry not cut and dried, lent not leant (which made me gasp), heckles not hackles, a blaze not ablaze, omission not admission and peaking not peeking !! As you can see, this is in a total mess.....it never ceases to amaze me that after doing the really hard job of writing a book that someone will not get it checked out properly before publishing. Though, in fairness, this author had three people to do that, who've managed to let her down. Thanks to this trio, I won't be reading another by her.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC of The Feud by Gemma Rogers.
Kay makes one mistake and her life goes off course. She got into a feud with Simon Fox who is one crazy, rich, jerk who doesn't like to lose. Things get heated very fast. She is lucky she has Claire to be by her side through it all.
After all a mother will do anything to protect herself and her children.
The Feud is not my first read by Gemma Rogers and certainly won’t be my last. She proves time and time again why her novels are excellent. I couldn’t wait to read this one and am happy I did! It’s everything I want in a psychological thriller.
The plot moves at an excellent pace and it is quite the page turner. It was easy to fly through this because the writing was great and the plot was addicting.
I’m a fan of Gemma Rogers. Every book I’ve read by her has had excellent writing, pacing, and characters, and The Fued is no different. I really enjoyed the character growth and how character driven this story is.
Overall, this was a great read and I recommend checking it out!
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources, the author, and the publisher for the free review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.
This was quite the tale. At first I didn’t really like Kay. I thought she was moany and a little too goodie. But she soon changed. Highly protective of her family, and maybe a little lonely, I learned she was quite likeable. She wanted to be as carefree as her best friend but that was near impossible with teenage twins at home. Her soon to be ex-husband was a jerk. Rubbing his new relationship in her face, trying to turn her kids against her and becoming mouthy throughout the whole ordeal. The feud between her and the neighbour becomes quite intense and even though there were no surprises with the culmination of these disagreements, I found I really liked this drama.
Free book through kindle wasn’t so bad. The feud kind of dragged on, getting worse and worse. Lots of unnecessary descriptions, and then the final chapter things go full speed ahead and ends a bit abruptly. Twists and conflicts were all tied up neatly.
I liked it. It was a quick read. Crazy how one mistake can lead to such a downward spiral. This book teaches me to think before I act because I never want to make Simon Fox mad lol.
Really enjoyed this novel! Real edge of your seat mail-biter. A woman is surrounded by crazy, selfish men… and she wins in the end!! Don’t screw with her! Great book

I felt like the impulsive main character of this book got herself into trouble more times than not, but the twists and turns of the plot kept me listening until the very end.
Absolutely love The Feud, the latest book from Gemma Rogers. Very tense, brilliant woven plot line and great characters. A must read for thriller fans.
Wow, this was psychologically exhausting because it was brimming with tension - brilliant.
My favourite narrative is first-person, so that was a plus for me with this story, however, the way the plot unfolded was extremely well done. The characters suited the story - not all likeable but great all the same. The writing style was perfect as was the setting, in my opinion.
