"When I read and heard Naladamayanti story, it was just yet another story from Mahabharata. But the way you narrated the entire story made me fall in love with Damayanti's character. I don't think I will ever get bored of your books." ******************************************************************************************* In a strange turn of events, both fall in love with each other without a single meeting or any form of communication. Nala , 27 and touted to be the sexiest man in India, had just taken over the reins of Nishad Enterprises. In a strange twist of fate, he falls head over heels in love with the extremely beautiful and talented Damayanti without even meeting her once. Damayanti, who is heading the marketing division at her father’s company, Vidar Enterprises, returns his love with equal fervour.

Their love for each other seems like no other. A love that seems to transcend all human emotion. A love that seems to be predestined. A love that seems to be a continuation of their past lives.

However, Nala makes a grave mistake that brings him on the verge of destroying his own life along with that of his family. This mistake and the resulting effects prove to be the ultimate litmus test for Nala and Damayanti’s true love. And it is a test like no other. Will their enduring love be enough to conquer all?

This is a modern-day adaptation of the most inspiring and epic love story of all time—the love story of Nala and Damayanti.

Nala and Damayanti meet through a rather unique arrangement put together by Damayanti's father and eventually get married. Even before they meet they already fall in love with each other based on what they hear about the other person from common friends. Their ideal life comes to a halt when Nala loses money when he bets on a new business venture. What ensues is a tale of hardship for Nala and Damayanti.

Shobana Mahadevan has stayed true to the original tale, cleverly using modern twists to retain the flavour. The situations are authentically recreated to match a modern day setting and yet you feel like you are experiencing the old story. The only flaw was the dialogue writing - in many situations it came across as forced and idealistic. A lot of the dialogue may sound right in translation but people hardly speak in English that way so it seemed off.

If you want to read a recreation of the classic it is a good read.

The author has tried to bring out a modern adaptation of the mythological story of Nala and Damayanti. Though the thought behind this is appreciable, the narration falls short. It gets quite boring and a drag at places. I am a huge fan of mythology inspired stories but this one did not do it for me. Wouldn't recommend it.

Knowing the original classic story ..... I was wondering how can this be retold for the modern days.... Author has smartly handled the characters and plots with the essence of the original staying intact . Smart work .

I always liked reading her work, but, unfortunately, this one turned out to be too unrealistic and fictitious. Such stories look good in 90's Bollywood hit, but to me the realistic nature of the events and stories hits the best.
