“We had this intoxicating, magnetic reaction from the first moment and we both agreed we needed to ride it out.”
“What’s wrong, babe?”
“Every woman in this town has the hots for you, that’s what’s wrong.”
“Ah, you’re flattering me, but I wouldn’t say every woman. Some. Most.” Cocky bastard.
“The girl that took our order definitely does. She was all pink in the cheeks when you got close to her.”
“Or maybe she was blushing because I told her to bring you a Martini and not stop until you had your fifth because that would guarantee you’ll ride me like a cowgirl tonight.”
I looked at him, wide-eyed and gaping. “You did not.”
“Blair, it’s me. Of course I did.”
“You found yourself an amazing man, babe! He is kind, he is fun, he plays with random kids you bring to his door. Not to mention he is Abraham fucking Everett. The tabloids love him and the banks love him more.”
She was looking for a guy to charm her socks off, be her support system, and work his way to a cheesy proposal. I was definitely not that guy. Give me liberty or give me death. Give me anything as long as it’s not marriage. But didn’t I deserve a chance, though? I wanted her so bad. I was like a hound, sniffing around, trying to find her scent and following it back to her. Having the knowledge that Blair Webster was in the same town and I wasn’t with her right now, drilling her pussy, was torture.
He was a knight in shining armor, I was just scared that his armor might be so shiny it would blind me, leaving me alone in the dark. Without him. And what would I be then?
“Are you busy?”
“No, actually the opposite. I pissed Viviane off a few days ago, and now she’s covering for me. I have too much free time.”
“Let me understand, you pissed off your second in command and to punish you, she is doing your work?”
“Yes, she knows I hate it.”
“You and Viviane Thompson have a weird relationship.”
I was starting to think maybe my fate found me. Blair was always there, so close, all I had to do was find her. For too long I was busy looking somewhere else, making horrible mistakes and burying myself in work to make sure I wasn’t available, but somehow Blair Webster dug through all that and found me.
