Sometimes the one you were hoping for is right next door. Ian enjoys the spotlight, the band, the fans—everything he’s worked hard to get. But very few people know the man under the fierce makeup and loud clothes. Bodhi is excited for a fresh start in a new town where no one knows his past. Thanks to his hyper but lovable dog, Ollie, Bo runs into the hot and mysterious guy next door. His attraction to Ian is immediate, but dating his neighbor is a big risk. Ian wants more than the casual hookups he’s been enjoying. Bo next door, with his crazy dog, makes him think it could be possible. Fame and notoriety bring challenges though, will it prove too much for Bodhi to handle? The Love Bank Romance series features stand-alone stories that can be read individually, but I recommend reading the series to see your favorite characters again.

Once upon a time there was a girl who would have died of shame and self doubt after reading a book that, while incredibly beautiful and moving and swoony, had eerily similar elements to the idea for a novel she'd been trying to give birth to for years.
Fortunately, that girl worked to stand on a much more secure ground, slowly but surely growing more confident in her own path and her own voice.

So, this girl (in actuality a woman of three and thirty) is writing a review with a soaring heart, a smile on her face, gratitude in her soul (directed at the wonderful author who made it possible that I could read this early) and so much hope for the future, confident in her own journey.
This book was not only a beautiful love story and a story about the characters growing comfortable with the challenges that they could face in a future together. It also made me realize, at long last, how much I've grown myself. I feel deeply privileged to have walked the path with this characters, and also grateful to have them hold my hand and walk me through an unexpected (but certainly welcome) road of much needed introspection.

I knew before starting that I was signing up for a fabulous read. But this was that, and so much more. It sure has been a good century or so (?) since I last connected with a story so deeply.

Thank you, Duckie, for trusting me with this. I loved this story. I loved it more than I can explain. I loved it beyond words.

This was really cute and very very sweet. I really liked Ian and Bo, and loved the trans representation.

Everybody was really sweet and wholesome and understanding and nice. A little too much?

And then Bo’s freak out came out of nowhere and pissed me off. And Ian’s reaction was so nice and sweet and nobody is that perfect dammit.

This is the second book in a series and it features Ian 'Crow', a rockstar we already met in the first book, and his new neighbor, Bo.
I discovered Duckie Mack's writing when I read the first book All the Stars, and partly because of her writing I was curious about this second book. Even though the first book did have some parts that didn't work well for me.
This second book seems to be giving me the same feelings. Partly I enjoyed it, but the parts that didn't work for me were more evident in this book than they were in the first.
The first book was low angst and sweet. A bit too sweet for my liking. This book is even sweeter.
Everything was just fine. Despite the fact that Bo came from a relationship that didn't end very well, it felt like this story was just too smooth, the hurdles that were there taken too easily.
What I did find interesting is the presence of a transgender mc, which I have not read much in the mm romances I read. And even though I do not know any transgender persons in my life and only know what I read, I had the feeling Duckie Mack did a good job with Bo.
It's a sensitive subject which I believe should be treated right and respectfully. In my opinion, that's what the author accomplished. But because of that same sensitivity, I find it difficult to write my review, because I don't ever want to offend people. But there were things that bothered me in that relationship.

And everyone is just so sweet and caring. Nobody seems to have flaws. There's never any negativity (except for the ex), they love dogs and animals, they care for other people by helping at the food bank, they are accepting and there is insta-love (I really, really don't like insta-love; it's one of my least favorite tropes), and while that all is a good thing - don't get me wrong! - it feels like it's all a little too much. When story's are too sweet, I start to lose interest after a while. Something has to happen, the mc's have to earn their happily ever after. And though in the end there is this misunderstanding - which might be a little thin - it still is too smooth for my liking. Which is why I round down instead of up. The 0,5 star extra is because of how well this is written.

I know a lot of what didn't work for me is on me. A lot of readers are looking for sweet, low angst story's and so if you do, this book might work perfectly for you and you should give it an honest try.
It can be read as a standalone too.

I kindly received an ARC from the author and this is my honest, unbiased review

Bo Next Door
by Duckie Mack is a sweet romance between a rock star and a pet technician. Ian has two personas , on stage he's Crow lead singer of a rising indie band and off he's down to earth , slightly nerdy Ian. Ian has a new neighbor, Bodhi, and the two hit off right away. Bo like's Ian for who he is outside the rock star lifestyle, but when he gets a taste for that side will he be able to live with both personas. No matter how much Bo cares for Ian, he might not be able to handle the rock star spotlight.

"I thought of exploring Bo's body. Of marking him with lipstick-stained kisses."

Unfortunately , Bo Next Door didn't wow me. I didn't mesh with the author's writing style and found the story dragging at times. I liked both Bo and Ian, but Ian fell a bit flat for me. I was better able to connect with Bo, who's a Transgender male with a heart of gold. His whole demeanor, from being confident in the bedroom and a bit awkward out of it, to his adorable relationship with his crazy pup. Then outside our lead characters I found the supporting cast lacking, except for Bo's sister Lane, she was great.

"After days of feeling lost and unsure, when his fingers twined with mine, I felt home."

All in all, Bo Next Door was a decent romance with Trans rep, a matchmaking pup, the importance of communication, volunteering, bunk beds, plenty of steam and a happily ever after.

I found this story to be beyond cute.

Bo and Ian are adorable together, but honestly the book stealer is Ollie.
He introduced them, and kept both Ian and Bo's hopes up.

I love that both main characters insist on honesty and communication.

Genre/Tropes: Trans, MM

Series: Love Bank Romance, Book 2
STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥

Oh my gosh, I loved this book so much! I was anxious for Ian’s story and I absolutely adore his MMC, Bodhi Anderson, a trans man with a few trust issues. Those trust issues create some drama for a bit, but luckily their bond wins out because they had THE sweetest romance.

And might I add Duckie took the steamy scenes up a notch! The tension and passion between these two confident, honest men was refreshing and so fun to read about! Considering Bo’s trans surgery and the resulting sexual abilities, I have to admit I both learned quite a bit and loved how carefully it was all approached and presented. I could literally feel the respect and awe Ian had for Bo and it was so swoon-worthy! I’d probably have to say that this is my favorite love story in this series so far. 😍

We got to see Cam & Rider, the Love Bank, and we met a few new people. This series is shaping up to be a favorite, comfort series when I’m in the mood for sweet inclusivity romance.

Loves everything about this book!

Ok Duckie, way to make me fall even more in love with your Books.

This is such a sweet, cute love story, my cheeks hurt from smiling and it just made me so damn happy.

I spent the entire day with my nose buried in my Kindle, eagerly tapping the pages and ignoring life, from page one until the end.

Duckie Mack just write characters that you fall in love with, can’t wait for the next one in the series.

This needs to go right to the top of your TBR pile.

Up and coming rock musician Crow/Ian meets his new next door neighbour, vet tech Bo. These two couldn't be more different but together they just worked.

I really enjoyed everything about this book.
Bo and Ian were great together. I enjoyed watching them get to know each other in all forms. It was super sweet, romantic and fun.

This is a well written story with a little angst that I would happily recommend.

N'aaw!! I just absolutely love this series and Duckie Mack ability to make this grown ass woman squeal at the amount of cuteness in these stories. After reading All The Stars I was absolutely dying for Ian's book, I was not disappointed I think I am in love with Ian and Bo was just as adorable. So swoon worthy.

With an incredible trans representation, friendships, supportive parents, sibling relationships, pet lovers and owners, music, breaking gender norms, and the LGBT community, this was an adorable, lighthearted, reflective, and tender story. It had me smiling the entire time, with banters that was so fun.

Lots of accolades to the author for how tender, sweet, and attentive she handled the sensitivity of Bodhi’s transness, feelings, and boundaries.

I loved how confident Bodhi was about his body and made it clear to Ian. Ian listened, respected Bodhi’s boundaries, accepted him for who he is, and followed Bodhi’s lead. How inspiring, sweet and impactful that is.

I loved how confident Bodhi was about his body and made it clear to Ian. Ian listened, respected Bodhi’s boundaries, accepted him for who he is, and followed Bodhi’s lead. How inspiring, sweet and impactful that is.

Slow-paced at the onset, but it builds up so well and is satisfying for us to get to know both characters enough. A little bit of angst, but not exaggerated nor did it last for long.

The communication skills and style between Ian (stage name Crow) and Bodhi, was so inspiring and impactful. You can’t help but see how it was written with so much care and worthwhile emotions. The honesty in their communication was very realistic to either make things work between them or keep them apart. Which was a default in Bodhi’s previous relationship that scarred him.

I feel like the best word to describe this book is sweet. It's very sweet. Super cute. Very low angst.

It's about a rock star named Crow, real name Ian, who gets a new neighbor with a dog who literally knocks him off his feet. Bo is new in town with his rambunctious dog Ollie and very extroverted sister Lane, and he wasn't expecting to have a rockstar as a neighbor.

This is fairly insta love/meet cute and everything falls right into place.

While it's cute, and Ollie is 100% the star of the show, it was TOO sweet for me. I mean it's literally saccharine and syrupy sweet. No one has any faults and everyone is perfect. The one drama moment is fixed so fast it's like it didn't happen. I know that there's a lot of people that really enjoy this type of book but for me it's was just unrealistic. I want to see the flaws and the cracks in people, not this smooth over perfection.

I will say that I I was invested in the book and I got attached and even though I wanted more from the characters I did enjoy the story. I especially loved Ollie because he reminded me of my pup dog named Oliver who is also ridiculous and can't go out in public 😂

I loved the queer inclusivity throughout the book but especially at the end in the epilogue where they make a point to include asexual in Pride. None of the characters are aspec but that's always nice to see in queer books.

Gay MC, trans gay MC, multiple secondary queer and trans characters.

Readers first met up-and-coming rock star Ian "Crow" McGuire in All the Stars, the first Love Bank Romance book. While love might not have been in the cards back then, Ian's getting the chance to discover if the sparks he feels with Bodhi are real, or if the handsome animal lover is just another Bo Next Door.

I loved seeing Rider and Cam get together in All the Stars, so I could not wait to see love unfold for someone else in Bo Next Door. While Ian obviously wasn't right for Rider, I was excited when I heard that Ian would get his turn in the second book. Mack definitely didn't disappoint when it comes to Ian and Bo's story; she gives us sweet romance, plenty of spice, fights and resolutions, and one of the most beautiful and honest love stories featuring a trans man I've ever read.

[Before I get too far into how much I loved Bo's story and the love between Bo and Ian, I have to first state that these opinions are coming from a cis female and my thoughts and feelings on Bo's story have no basis on the actual experiences of a trans man. I cannot possibly understand the experience, and do not pretend to. I loved Mack's character, but I do not presume to know the experiences trans men go through, specifically when entering relationships.]

Bo Next Door follows Bodhi Anderson and his sister Lane as they move and head out on their own for the first time. These two had such fantastic sibling dynamics; Lane was everything a big sister should be for Bo, and I wouldn't hate it if Lane got her own Love Bank Romance one day. I thought Bo was really well done (aforementioned note notwithstanding). While I obviously don't have the experience to validate everything Bo went though, I thought Mack did a wonderful job portraying everything on the page. Bo's story, his fears, his passions - it all came across as honest and heartfelt. Mack made Bo brave, and was able to dive deeper into the relationship between Bo and Ian because of that bravery. Layers were peeled back, fictional or not, and I truly enjoyed how beautiful their love was to read.

Ian really came into his own in this book. He caught my attention in All the Stars, but he grew as a person, as a boyfriend, and as Crow - his lead singer alter ego - in Bo Next Door. Ian was sweet, caring, and understanding; he was everything that Bo needed and deserved.

With spicy romance, a sweet plot, and fantastic representation, I really enjoyed Bo Next Door and can't wait to read the next book in Duckie Mack's Love Bank Romance series.

A huge thank you to the author and Gay Romance Reviews for providing an advanced copy of Bo Next Door for review.

“Maybe we can’t change the world for everyone, but we can change the world for one.”

Ian, aka Crow, is the lead singer in an up and coming rock band. He knows who he is and exactly what he wants in life. That is until he finds himself with new neighbors. Bo and his sister Lane have just moved in next door and after moving and arranging furniture all day Bo decides to take his dog Ollie out for a walk. When Ollie, being the energetic and friendly dog that he is, sees Ian walking home, he makes a beeline right for him putting Bo and Ian on a trajectory of an absolutely adorable meet cute.

I fell in love with Ian’s character in All the Stars so I’ve been excited for his story and I’m happy to say that I was not disappointed. Ian is extremely confident in who he is and his on stage persona is evidence of that. The only problem is that as the lead singer of his band, he feels like he has to take on all the responsibilities for the group. Bo is a trans man that has been happy to move somewhere that nobody knows who he is so that he can have a fresh start. And while Bo is comfortable with and loves who he is, it doesn’t mean that things from his past don’t still affect him. Together these two characters are utterly adorable. Ian knows just what to say to Bo to show him that he is fully comfortable with him and willing to let Bo take the lead on the physical aspect of their relationship. And Bo helps Ian to be able to let his friends in more and to let them take on some of the responsibilities so that it’s not as overwhelming for him.

We get to see some characters from All the Stars in this book as well as meet new ones. I really liked meeting the members of Ian’s band and I look forward to learning more about them in future books. Also, Lane, Bo’s sister, is an absolute treasure. I love how supportive she is of not only Bo but also of the relationship between Bo and Ian. But the real MVP of this book Ollie! I would give this book 5 stars just for that dog! He is such an adorable goof and I love how much he featured in Bo and Ian’s relationship.

If you’re looking for a quick read that is cute and sweet with a lovable, goofy, adorable dog then give Bo Next Door a try.

This is Ian/Crowe’s story. We met him in the first book All the Stars when he met and fancied Ryder and I really liked him. In this book I loved him for his humour, he is a funny guy, his humility, his kindness and most of all his sensitivity. In this book Ian meets his new neighbours, thanks to a beautiful doofus of a dog called Ollie, Bodhi and his sister Lane. It’s instant chemistry between Ian and Bodhi but they don’t rush it.

Ian’s band which he fronts as Crow is just starting to take off and get the recognition they have worked so hard for. Bodhi works at the local animal shelter. When he learns what Ian does for a career and sees him in his Crow persona he is not sure he can cope with it all. We learn that Bodhi is a trans man and this does not faze Ian at all. He really likes Bodhi and although Bodhi is confident in his body Ian handles it all so sensitively I love him for it.
This is a sweet love story with a cute couple and a HEA.

Duckie Mack wrote about this sensitive subject objectively and I thought very well. It is the first time I have read a book about a transgender person and so it was a learning curve for me. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series about the loveable Jonah. As he has worked his way through culinary school and loves to cook for his band mates I am expecting some mouth watering food as well as passion.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. I'm so excited to be reading Ian's story,  I really was taken by him in All The Stars that this was a must read.
Ian is getting new neighbors, is that going to be a good thing or bad only time will tell. If Ollie gets his way, Ian want mind them one bit or vice versa.  Oh my! it hilariously funny, Bo meets Ian and lusting over the nerdy vibe going on while Lane is drooling over the "killer" Crow.
Bodhi is making a fresh start in a newer type way, As he and his sister Lane move to a different town. Bo is hopeful to what lays ahead and not the past. Reading Ian stumble and fumble while he was mister smooth with Rider. Dating Ian is easy but after Tyler incident, can Bo handle Crow's stage persona? Brodhi is just the sweetest thing, the whole Pinocchio line fit the heartfelt confession not realizing just what that meant at the moment. Loved the sibling safety!
Side note I wonder who will be next, in Duckie Mack's love bank match-making.

'Bo Next Door' is the second book in the Love Bank Romance series, following Bo and Ian, also known as Crow, who readers of 'All The Stars' will be glad to see once more, taking centre stage. As Crow, Ian is the showy, confident frontman of his band, but few people know the true Ian behind this persona. When new neighbour Bo arrives in his life, their attraction is instant, but will Bo's memories of his last break-up make life as the partner of an aspiring rock star impossible?

A quick and engaging read, 'Bo Next Door' is a low-angst romance that's lots of fun to read. I especially loved the inclusion of sensitive trans rep. For my personal tastes, I didn't warm quite as much to Bo and Ian compared to Rider and Cam, although I think that's more because best friends to lovers is one of my very favourite tropes. Anyone who enjoyed 'All The Stars' should definitely read 'Bo Next Door', but it isn't necessary to read the books in order, so you can safely leap into this one first!

I am very grateful to the author for providing an ARC of 'Bo Next Door'. These opinions are my own.

Bo Next Door is sweet and sexy, a lighthearted love story between new neighbors Bo and Ian. Ian moonlights as Crow, the provocative lead singer of rock band Crow’s Nest. When he isn’t in his rocker persona, he’s adorably dorky. He has a meet cute with his new neighbor, Bo, when Bo’s dog Ollie bowls him over with kisses. Ian is immediately attracted to Bo and loves that Bo sees him for himself instead of Crow. Bo, a trans man, has just moved to town with his sister, Lane, and is looking for a new start in a place where no one knew him before his transition. Bo has some insecurities left over from his ex-boyfriend, but they’re really cute together when he isn’t overthinking everything. The two have wonderful chemistry together, and the pacing of their relationship works well. Mack also gifts us with fun supporting characters, including Cam and Ryder from All The Stars. The ending made my heart happy. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This is the second book in the series and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first one. I was so happy to see this one was Ian’s story as I’d loved him in the first book and had hoped he’d get his own at some point. (Now I’m hoping the skateboard kid gets his own sometime.). This was the first book I’ve read where one of the characters was trans and I love that representation. Watching Ian’s and Bo’s relationship blossom into this beautiful thing was amazing, though it wasn’t without a few bumps along the way. I chuckled at the fact that Bo’s sister also thought Ian was gorgeous when she first met him and the whole Ian/Crow confusion that ensued. Ian was so sweet, kind, and attentive to Bo and knew just what to do when Bo struggled with things. Bo’s the perfect fit for Ian as he accepts and loves all parts of Ian, no just one side or the other. It was also nice to see a few glimpses of Rider and Cam.

If you want a candy store sweet romance, this is the one for you.

Ian and Bodhi are both super adorable, on their own and together. Each of them suffers from feeling like they’re never fully seen, but together it feels like they’ve finally found someone who sees all parts of them, but is that enough?

The story focuses on the relationship of this duo, one a rock god, the other a sweet pet shelter worker. Following them as they get to know each other, learn each other's hearts and secrets, falling in love. But if they don’t learn to communicate, it may not be enough. Though there are a couple of steamy scenes, this is focused on the sweet story of them coming together, with the help of an over-eager doggie and a pushy (but loving) sister.

Bo next door

After reading Ryder and Cam's story a while ago I was really excited for book#2 and there are many reasons why I love Bo and Ian. Overall it is the perfect heartfelt romance mix for me:
rockstar/music, great characters and friendships, delicious sweetness and longing and a happy ending for my heart ♥️

Bo and Ian stole my heart, as I expected they would, and I'm happy my 2022 startet with them.

cute and sweet!

I read this book as part of the Trans Rights Readathon that is being held over on instagram untim march 27th I believe.

This book was the absolute CUTEST! I loved getting to witness Bo and Ian go from friends to lovers all because Ollie the ever wonderful dog lovingly attacked Ian one night on a walk. Watching them fall in love and getting to know each other was absolutely wonderful.

Getting to see Bo and Ian be vulnerable with each other and having that communication made this story so amazing. It was low angst with so much cuteness between these two characters. I couldn’t put it down.

Bo and Ian are perfect for each other, and Ollie is the perfect glue.
I really appreciated how the author approached the transgender side of the story.

So stinking cute!

I was dying for this after All The Stars and Duckie didn't disappoint!

This was my first experience reading a book with a Trans MC and I wasn't totally sure what to expect, but it was clear that Duckie did her research and approached it with respect!

Ian and Bo were such a sweet match and Ollie made this story super cute! I can't wait to see what else Duckie has up her sleeve. What kind of story could she have in store for Jonah!

This story is stunning in every way. Ian and Bodhi are fantastic characters, impossible not to love. Their journey from instant attraction (thanks to Bodhi’s crazy dog Ollie, who’s role in the story should not be overlooked) to the ultimate bond of trust and love, is written beautifully with the perfect amount of emotion v heat.
With some fabulous sub-plots that weave their way throughout adding layers to the main romance, there is also the wonderful relationship between Bodhi and his sister Lane. Their banter and Lane’s one-liners had me in stitches! Lane is a force of nature!
A brilliant, sweet LGBTQ+ story - I can’t wait to check out others in this series.

This story was so sweet and I think these guys were adorable together. Ian loves his band and their successes but you can see it's draining him. Bo is such a sweetheart and I loved that he was given the chance to move away from home and just have that much more freedom. I really liked Bo and Lane's sibling relationship and how they supported each other. Ollie is just an adorable bugger that can't help but make you love him and I loved even more that he was the biggest thing to bring them back together after a misunderstanding. I am really enjoying this series and look forward to more stories from this author.
