Cupid in the City #2

P.S. Not If You Were The Last Man On Earth

Rate this book
To my tent mate,

I am only going to say this once. I am not interested in you. I will not be sharing a sleeping bag with you. I will not be asking you to

keep me warm with your 'hot body'. Who calls their own body

hot by the way? I will not be doing a belly dance for you in the middle of the night and I definitely won’t be making you hot chocolate. You’ll be lucky if I even alert you to a bear, so don’t push your luck. I’m going to be 100% honest with you. I’m not interested and have no desire to see you again after this trip.

Yours Unsincerely,

Susie

P.S. Not if you were the last man on earth

They say that no good deed goes unpunished and they are surely right.

I agreed to go on a camping trip with my best friend and her new boyfriend, Finn, but I never agreed to share a tent with Finn's best friend, Brody.

Brody is a pompous full of himself jock. He thinks he rules the world because he's some hot shot baseball player, but the jokes on him because I don't even watch sports. I just need to get past this weekend without killing him and then I never have to deal with his arrogant ass again.

Don't believe all the 5 starts reviews ,if I could give it 0 stars I would. The H is the most childish annoying douche there is . He's ab immaturite, reckless, careless womanizer. I felt like I was reading a book written by a frat college boy ,nothing redeeming about this one. I don't know why there are many good reviews but this one sucked

Funny, witty sexy banter, great characters with a fascinating story! Susie is Marcia's BFF and she joins her and her new boyfriend Finn to a camping weekend along with Finn's BFF Brody. Brody is a baseball player who is full of himself and thinks he is a catch! Susie butts head with him from the start and neither is willing to admit that they might be attracted to each other. However, Susie is not like Brody's regular hookups and she will ask him the tough questions that he isn't willing to answer. Susie's questions forces him to come to terms with his past to have a future. An amazing story in the cupid in the city series. I can't wait to see who's next to fall! i volunteered to review the story.

I received this ebook ARC, from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review.
This book was so much fun, and I absolutely loved Brody, demons and all. Susie was pretty cool too, because she could see the true Brody even with his cockiness, and attitude. They meet while camping with her close friend and her friends boyfriend. Unfortunately they start off on the wrong foot, due to the degrading comments that Brody directed to Susie. She starts seeing the hurt in his eyes, and begins to like him.
Brody in the process also begins to like Susie, but he is scared to show his true feelings. They begin to relax with each other, and form a friendship of tolerance. Brody suddenly gets scared, that his friends will find out about the reason for his demons, so he leaves them to fly to LA, to attend a party. At the party, things are not as they used to be, and he leaves to fly back home. He doesn’t show up on his plans to take Susie to breakfast, and instead gets drunk. This is his turning point to decide to tell Finn, Marcia, and Susie about his guilty conscience that he suffers with. After his revelations, Brody and Susie begin a relationship which ends in their HEA.
I’ve read several books written by J. S. Cooper, and I’ve loved everyone, but this one was one of her very best. It had wonderful characters, lust, romance, angst, friendship, and a beautiful HEA. I highly recommend this book.

This is Book 2, in The Cupid in the City #2 series. It’s a fast paced romance and it’s filled with lots of banter and angst!
Brody is a gorgeous and a bit conceited professional baseball player. He is Finn’s best friend. He knows he is a catch and thinks just about every woman wants him.
Susie is Marcia best friend and Susie is a strong headed and fierce lady. They all decide to go camping and they have to share a tent. Susie and Brody turn into an enemies to lovers romance!
Another addictive series from JS Cooper! It’s fun, witty and unexpected romance. Such a must read if you love a really well written enemies to lovers romance.

I was given an Advanced Readers Copy by the author for an honest review.

Brody Wainwright is a player on the baseball field and off of it. He is also Finn's best friend so when Finn takes Marcia camping, and they invite their best friends with them Brody comes along with Susie. Of course, Brody is immediately attracted to Suzie, and he makes some comments that cause her to think he's an absolute jerk. The two of them end up having to share a tent and a hotel room during the trip and they end up making out and fooling around. However, when Brody's past comes up, he closes off and tries hard to be a huge jerk not only to Suzie but Finn as well. He announces that he went down on Susie the night before and that Finn fooled around in a limo with a cheerleader before he was seeing Marcia. He goes to LA with the intention of partying and hooking up and Suzie goes clubbing when she gets back to NY in an attempt to forget Brody. Brody gets jealous and returns determined to talk to Suzie. He is supposed to meet her for breakfast but stands her up and gets drunk instead. Just as Suzie is about to give up on him Brody shares his past with Suzie, Marcia and Finn. The death of his brother and why his family blamed him. Suzie tells Brody he deserves her and the two finally get together and Brody works on getting help for his issues.
I liked this book; I thought the banter between Suzie and Brody was funny and clever. I really love the friendships between Marcia, and Suzie, and the friendship between Finn and Brody. I was happy that Suzie went to work with Finn and didn't take the job as a sex phone operator and I thought that she did a great job helping Brody grow.

Totally hated it and it bored me like you wouldn't believe! Everything about this book rubbed me the wrong way, the guy was just so obnoxious and immature, i mean, what he went through was awful and I feel really sorry for him, but he's pushing 40 and still acting like a teenager in a locker room (do guys really talk like that in public, I'm sure most of them think that way, but i hope most of them aren't so stupid a to spit that crap out loud), also, he clearly has PTSD, how can he be so stupid as to not look for help just because he's a Wainwright and he keeps repeating that like he is a freaking Kennedy or Sussex, it's annoying! While she was just TOO forgiving, he humiliated her from the beginning, did it repeatedly and she just kept coming for more!

There were no many things that i hated about this book, but what bothered me the most was the fact that they (both couples i mean) kept talking like they had years of knowing each other and its barely been a week, it's supper annoying!

I didn't like the first book, but i gave the second book a chance and I hated it even more, so i think I'm done with this series and maybe even this author!

Wow! This is such a beautifully written story. Susie who you met in the first book in the series is Marcia’s best friend. And she meets Brody because he is best friends with Marcia’s boyfriend Finn. Brody is a very cocky and arrogant baseball player. So when Susie agrees to go camping with Marcia and Finn she doesn’t realize that Brody will be going to. But then she gets to see little glimpses of the real Brody. Until he reverts back to being jerk. The banter between them is funny. But there is also a sadness to Brody, and you get little pieces of why as you read the book. Jamie did a fantastic job writing this book.

ABOUT THE CUPID IN THE CITY SERIES:

This is book two in the Cupid in the City series. As of now, it follows the stories of four girlfriends living in New York City in pursuit of their dreams.

Book one is Marcia’s story. In P.S. Never in a Million Years, she and her bestie Susie move to NYC from Orlando and fall into financial hardship as they struggle to find jobs in the expensive city.

This is book two, P.S. Not If You Were the Last Man on Earth, which is best friend Susie’s story.

P.S. Lose This Number follows in book three. It is Lilian’s book. She is one of the two friends that Marcia and Susie make in book one.

Book four is P.S. You Would Be So Lucky. It follows Shantal, who is introduced in book one. She and Marcia become fast friends.

FROM P.S. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS, BOOK ONE:

Marcia Lucas, twenty-five, is pursuing her dream in NYC. The Puerto Rican and Irish beauty turns heads, but she doesn’t seem to take much notice. She likes to ignore her problems – wishful ignorance works well for her. Her ditzy personality combined with her feisty attitude make her a force to be reconned with – and very unpredictable. She has a good sense of humor and a knack for sarcasm that ensures life is never boring.

Although Marcia generally has a positive outlook, that is not the case when it comes to exceedingly handsome and arrogant men. She has had a string of bad luck, falling for men who seem to take their good looks to their heads. Marcia isn’t in a good state of mind when it comes to the idea of dating, especially if the man in question is too handsome and confident. Those men tend to cheat, and that hasn’t done Marcia any favors with her self-esteem.

NYC is her chance for a fresh start, and an opportunity to finally pursue her dreams.

Unfortunately, the move from Orlando to the big city has proven to be a bigger challenge than she had anticipated, and her dreams must be put on hold. She and her bestie Susie arrived six months ago, and their savings are nearly exhausted. Becoming an indie documentary filmmaker won’t work if she and Susie are evicted. Marcia is horrible with financial matters, but Susie has run the numbers and their time is running out. Marcia had graduated from a small Florida college with a degree in art history, which didn’t give her many marketable skills, but she decided to shoot high and hope for the best.

The ad for a president of marketing at Winchester Enterprises is sure to have a hefty paycheck, so Marcia doesn’t hesitate to apply despite her lack of all requisite skills. She might even have embellished a bit of her resume, but she figures she can learn what she needs to on the job. Her resumé doesn’t pass the test, but she does luck out with landing a temp position at the company. With any luck, it will lead to a permanent job down the road. She cannot afford to turn down anything at this point, as the days in her apartment are numbered.

When she and Susie go out for drinks to celebrate, she finds herself the object of a handsome man’s attention. His confidence and persistence are a turn-off, and she has no problem repeatedly dissing him. He claims to have never been turned down before and seems to enjoy the challenge. His green eyes are captivating, but not nearly tempting enough. She and Green Eyes cross paths again, as fate seems to have its own mind. They enjoy plenty of banter, and Marcia’s lack of a filter leads to some very entertaining exchanges. Just when she begins to consider getting out of her comfort zone and giving the mysterious Green Eyes a chance, fate brings another twist to her story.

Finneus Augustus Winchester, thirty-five, is the CEO of Winchester Enterprises and has a reputation for being a difficult man to work for. When Marcia gets assigned to his office, she worries that her new job has a very limited lifespan. With so much riding on her paycheck, she has to hope that she can muddle through her assignments and keep her big mouth closed.

Marcia finds herself challenged in unexpected ways. As she tries to find balance in her new life, she and Susie make new friends with Lilian and Shantal. The girls all offer her support as she contemplates dating once again. Marcia eventually finds a happy ending.

IN THIS BOOK:

This book opens as book one closes. Finn is taking Marcia on a camping trip to Yosemite to hike Half Dome, and he wants to make her comfortable by inviting her best friend Susie along. His best friend from college, Brody, has just been traded to the New York Yankees and is temporarily staying with him. He neglects to mention that Brody will be accompanying them on the long weekend getaway as well.

Susie Benedict, about twenty-five, agreed to move to New York with her bestie Marcia over six months ago. It hadn’t been an easy transition, and until Marcia lucked out with her new job, their financial situation looked dire. Everything soon seemed to fall into place for Marcia when her new billionaire CEO boss fell madly in love with her. While Susie is happy for her friend, it means that Marcia will eventually be moving out. Susie feels unsettled because she hasn’t even found a job yet. She had been hoping for a teaching job but is getting a little desperate. Beyond that, she is a little jealous of Marcia, who has with Finn the kind of love that Susie wants one day.

Brody Wainwright, about thirty-five, is one of the best pitchers in the MLB. Named an MVP last year, he has just been traded to the New York Yankees. That works out well for him since his best friend from college, Finn Winchester, lives in the city, too. The pair had met as walk-ons for college baseball and have been best friends ever since. Finn knows Brody better than anyone – he knows the real man beneath the façade. But even Finn doesn’t know everything. He doesn’t know about the pain and the guilt that drive Brody to be the baseball superstar, jokester, and player that define him today.

Brody hails from northern Pennsylvania; his brother Michael and his parents still live there today. He doesn’t speak to them much, though. He had spent summers on his grandparents’ farm in Kentucky, where he has both good and bad memories. But Brody chooses to live in the present. He doesn’t like to think about his family or the nerdy teenager he had once been. Brody has accepted his lot. Love and a happy ending are not in the cards for him. And he would prefer it if his friend Finn hadn’t fallen into that trap either. Finn claims Brody will fall hard when the time comes, but that won’t be happening.

When Brody and Susie end up not only on a camping trip together with their best friends but also sharing a tent, neither is too pleased. Brody is a player and refuses to be serious about anything, and Susie doesn’t have much tolerance for arrogant jerks. Their friends expect them to get along, but that seems to be an impossible challenge. If they cannot get their acts together, they risk damaging their friendships.

Brody wouldn’t mind sleeping with Susie, but he hasn’t forgotten Finn’s strict warnings and cannot afford to lose that friendship. Susie claims she won’t sleep with Brody if he were the last man on earth, but it doesn’t stop his banter. To be fair, Susie does her fair share of egging him on. Despite his arrogance and frequent rude remarks, Susie begins to sense that there is a man worth knowing underneath the bluster, and sees hints of the man beneath the mask. When her questions about his family seem to trigger the worst in him, her suspicions deepen. But Brody’s brokenness is no excuse for his cruelty. Her first responsibility is to her own heart. The couple has some battles ahead, but they soon find a happy for now ending.

Don’t forget to download the free bonus chapter via the link at the back of the book!

Brody and Susie are thrust together on a camping trip that leaves them little choice but to try to get along despite their clashing personalities. They behave like children, and neither is willing to admit that there might be a few sparks behind all the heated exchanges. Susie is intelligent, and combined with her caring personality, she instinctively knows that Brody is pushing her away to hide something from her. It is the source of her patience with his otherwise unacceptable behavior. Honestly, she puts up with quite a bit.

Brody feels inexplicably safe around Susie, and there just might be something to Finn’s prediction. But as he begins to open up to her, the memories begin to resurface. Brody spent his adult life building walls and creating a persona, and as he sees those walls beginning to crumble, he lashes out like an injured animal. His story is not easy, and he does his best to cause damage along the way. The healing will take much longer than the six or so days it takes to come to grips with his feelings for Susie, but it is nice to see change begin.

Brody and Susie’s enemies-to-lovers romance is a rocky ride. Brody is an MLB pitcher who enjoys a huge following of willing women. Susie is strong and confident, but she is struggling as she starts out in New York. Thrust together by their best friends, neither is pleased about the circumstances. Their banter soon turns steamy, but there are a lot of stops and starts in this slow burn. The plot is fairly simple. Brody’s character is complex. The story is told in first person. Note that book one was told entirely in Marcia’s POV, but here the POV alternates between Brody and Susie. Because so much of this story belongs to Brody, it would have been hard to imagine it entirely in Susie’s POV. I rate this book four stars.

You'll love Susie and Brodie's story. Their back and forth banter will keep you laughing. They meet on a camping trip with their friends and they end up sharing a tent. The book is a fun read with some twists. The chemistry between the two is off the charts. The characters are well developed and likable and J S Scott has done an amazing job of 'bringing them to life'. I read an advance reader copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

Loved the bickering banter between Susie and Brody! He loved to get on nerves and loved that she blantly didn’t know who he was nor did she care. What she did know was in equal parts she wants to choke him and kiss him and it’s driving her mad lol. Such a cute story

I received this as ebook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I suggest to read these books in order despite this being a standalone. The characters all interconnect; each having their own HEA.

We are introduced to Brody Wainwright, Baseball’s MVP for the New York Yankees. He is cocky, arrogant and the best friend of Finn. Susie Benedict is Marcia’s best friend and all have agreed to go camping at Yosemite National Park.

The camaraderie between Susie and Brody is lovable, witty with a hint of fun. Susie kept him guessing. Here is a beautiful and intelligent woman who wasn’t falling victim to his charms. She kept his interest piqued. One of my most beloved scenes is during their hike to Half Dome. Brody and Susie had called a truce. Throwing caution to the wind, she grabs the bull by the horns (in this case Brody is the bull)! “I grabbed his head and pulled him towards me. I pressed my lips against his and kissed him hard. Then I stepped back and looked at his face. His eyes were shocked, and his fingers touched his lips. I smiled as the dazed look passed over him. “No, I don’t need you to kiss me. If I want something, I go for it”.

Initially, we see Brody as the stereotypical jock for the behaviors he portrays but as the days pass, Susie is perceptive enough to see beyond his bravado. She quickly realizes there is not only a depth to him but also lot of pain.

Brody’s past melded him into this person he felt he had to become. He hides behind a fake façade wanting acceptance not only by the world but by his own family. But Susie saw his true self and accepted him. “To the world, I’m Brody Wainwright, pitcher for the New York Yankees. Handsome, rich with women falling out of my pockets. To the world I have everything, and yet I have nothing. I’m cold inside. I feel dead inside…” “And then I met you, and I started to feel again”.

Personally, I connected to Brody’s pain. The demons that have plagued him hit a nerve with me. I can empathize with how words lashed out in grief, can cause everlasting emotional damage.

I loved Susie’s as a MC. Her strength; openness; honesty and of course her caring nature. She saw past the athlete and nerd. She saw Brody. Her willingness to throw caution to the wind to give their relationship a chance. “It’s pure. It’s raw. It’s honest. It’s dirty. It’s impulsive. And it just doesn’t make sense” “But it works”

Read it!

Susie Benedict can’t stand Brody Wainwright! The only reason she is tolerating him is because her best friend Marcia invited her on a camping trip with her new boyfriend Finn. Brody is Finn’s best friend and a famous baseball player, so really has no choice but to endure his presence just for the weekend. Susie doesn’t like Brody’s arrogance, egotistical pomposity because he is handsome and knows it. Brody knows that he can get any woman except one, he can’t seem to get or even interest Susie. Brody is bound and determined to get her attention, get into his sleeping bag with him, but mostly fall for him because of who he is. Susie doesn’t really care about sports and couldn’t care less who Brody really is. Susie wants a true man and to find love not be bed sport for just anyone. Still Brody will get her into his bed no matter the cost. Susie won’t give into him. Of course, neither expected love to play into the game either.
What an exciting enemy to lovers’ modern-day romance! There is even a little bit of sports but not enough that you have to be proficient in baseball to understand it. This is the second book in the series but can be a stand-alone without having to read the first book. It might be a good idea to read it though to understand the situations and get to know the characters a little better. So, the characteristics of the characters aren’t discussed in much depth still isn’t hard to imagine what everyone looks like. Brody the hot-headed, self-centered hero doesn’t endear himself at first. In fact, he is such a man-whore that it was hard to even like him. Even though the sex was off the charts unconventional and exciting especially since the first encounter was marvelous! Sure, he eventually turns around it still is a little unbelievable that he made a complete turnaround. Susie the wary sarcastic witty heroine wasn’t bad. She could have done better yet Brody would be worth it to just have sex with. The book is worth the read and something I’d reread again for the situations okay definitely the sex scenes too!

This book is a mix of fun banter, touching moments and "oh-no-he-did-not-just-say-that-did-he!". Brody is the kind of hero you like against your better judgement, the kind that does several jerk things that require you to find excuses for him, but you want to go looking for them because there is also something endearing about him. Susie's friend Marcia hit it off with Brody's friend Finn in a previous book, and now the two dragged Susie and Brody on a hiking trip with them, in the hopes that they could all become a happy group of friends together. The heroine's personality is a bit indistinct, she is still looking for herself and what she wants to do or become. The hero is what I will remember about this story. Now, Brody is a rich, hot baseball star who is generally a hit with women, at least those of a certain type, and his cockiness and his immature jokes rub Susie off the wrong way. Initially they argue quite a bit but as Finn and Marcia tend to withdraw into their own happy bubble Brody and Susie are forced to spend time together. He can make her laugh and she thinks she can observe his good, vulnerable side. He likes her a lot but spirals out into extreme jerk behavior when he realizes his feelings. Ultimately we find out that his family totally messed him up. It has to do with whether or not one's fulfilling family expectations or being true to one's own dreams and desires, with loss and guilt, with casting blame and with total inability to support each other when faced with tragedy. I was thinking he needs more than a good woman's love to save him, and I liked that both concerned parties recognized this. Despite some heavy subject material this is written in a light, entertaining style and it was a good diversion that kept my interest throughout. I received a free copy of this book and this is a voluntary review.

This is book two in The Cupid in The City Series and it is Susie and Brody story and omg it is definitely a must read. Susie goes on a camping trip with her best friend Marcia and her boyfriend Finn only to find out that they have invited Finn's best friend Brody and to top it all off Susie will have to share a tent with Brody and she is not happy about it as he is obnoxious, loud, arrogant, takes nothing serious and thinks that he is God's gift to women because he is a famous baseball player but even though he is very handsome Susie is determined that she will not be going there and can't wait to get home so that she will never have to see him again. Brody thought Susie was not only beautiful, funny, sassy, intelligent, vibrant, special, like no other woman that he has ever met, seems to see people beyond what they show, didn't put on airs and graces and he loved reading her to get a reaction but Brody was concerned that Susie could see right through how he acts and also see his vulnerability so he will have to be careful around her and not let his.guard down. Omg I absolutely loved the banter between Susie and Brody and I laughed so much and then the was there chemistry which was so hot and intense that you could feel it sizzling of the pages and I thought at times that it would kept my kindle. Even though this book had a lot of laughter it also had emotional situations that had you in tears and I couldn't put it down as it had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them all. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by J. S. Cooper as she is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I can't wait to read more of her books.

Susie is on a camping trip to California with her best friend, her friend’s fiancé and the fiancé’s best friend, Brody. Susie is not thrilled to be camping, sleeping in a tent with Brody, and hiking. Brody is a cocky professional baseball pitcher and has a reputation as a playboy. Susie is still looking for a good job in New York City and her friends tease her about her new job. Brody is arrogant and flirts with Susie but she is looking for love like her friend has found and let’s Brody know that she wouldn’t get involved with him if he was the last man on earth! As they spend time together on the trip will they grow closer and will Susie rethink a possible relationship with Brody?

I loved this story where we got to know Susie and her passion for storytelling as she tries to figure out what she wants to do in life. We also get to know Brody and see behind his carefree playboy facade and find out that he has issues that need to be resolved from his past. I especially loved reading about the long hike and the city girls’ reaction to their strenuous climb. The author did a fantastic job developing the characters and the bonus chapter was a great ending for their story. I look forward to the next book about Susie’s friend.

obnoxious characters

I know many books like the plot where the bad boy playboy finally meets the love of his life and he changes for her. He’s usually broken in some way - betrayed or hurt by a prior relationship, or bad parents, etc - and not open to love at first. I’ve seen this plot many times and the right author can make it work. But one key ingredient is that you can’t make the guy too dislikable to start with. And you have to like and sympathize with the girl and want her to get the man she’s falling for. I found both MCs pretty dislikable for the first at least half of the book and there was no way for a reader to believe that they would actually fall for each other based on their interactions during the camping trip. He’s obnoxiously rude and his incessant come-ons and disrespectful dialogue was off-putting. It went on and on without stopping, even when his own friend asked him to stop repeatedly. Susie was annoyed by him and bad tempered virtually the whole time. Where’s the attraction? We never really find out much about Susie. No background at all. She’s merely Marcia’s BF. How is Susie the MC when we know nothing about her or what would attract her to Brody and look beyond his outer image? Very disappointed in this book. Sorry. Cooper can and has done a lot better.

This is book two of the Cupid in the City and it can be read as a standalone, but it does reference characters from the previous book. Brody sexy as all get out conceited, cocky, professional baseball player best friends with Finn (from book one) and he thinks he is a gift for every woman out there no women turn him down. Marcia is best friends with Susie she agrees to go camping with them unbeknownst to her Brody was also going along, first impression he is an arrogant baseball player, and she doesn’t play well with jerks. Although, in getting to know him he slips showing her a glimpse of who he can be but then reverts to being the cocky jerk and the back and forth between these two is hilarious through it all he shows her that there is a whole lot more to him than the jerk façade. The attraction is insanely intense and the harder they fight against it the harder the pull is to ignore but will he come to turns about his feelings for her or will it cause him to become even more obnoxious, will he understand that some things are needed to be taken seriously, will he show her his truth, will she give him a honest chance with so much stacked against him and will they get their own HEA?

Susie and Brody are thrown together on a camping trip since each of their BFF's are now dating each other. Finn and Marcie somehow think we are in grammar school and they need to take their BFF's on a trip so they can all get to know each other. Brody is a famous pitcher for the NY Yankees and seems like a major player off the field too. He acts like a jerk most of the time, but Susie wasn't much better. I didn't care much for Marcie in the first book and I can't say I found too much that was redeeming about Susie either. Yes, she could get snarky with him, but he never claimed to be a stand-up guy. He owned his bad reputation and behavior and didn't make excuses for it. Finn, Marcie and Susie were the ones who acted like he needed to change in order to be around them. I was intrigued to find out why Brodie behaved the way he did. I knew he was burying something, and I kept reading in order to find out what it was. I was sad for him when it was revealed and gave him credit for telling them what happened. I was in no way, shape or form feeling the supposed connection between him and Susie. They were both too OTT in their dislike for each other for me to buy it. It seemed way too fast and not really believable.

Description:
To my tent mate, I am only going to say this once. I am not interested in you. I will not be sharing a sleeping bag with you. I will not be asking you to keep me warm with your ‘hot body’. Who calls their own body hot by the way? I will not be doing a belly dance for you in the middle of the night and I definitely won’t be making you hot chocolate. You’ll be lucky if I even alert you to a bear, so don’t push your luck. I’m going to be 100% honest with you. I’m not interested and have no desire to see you again after this trip.
Yours Unsincerely, Susie P.S. Not if you were the last man on earth

They say that no good deed goes unpunished and they are surely right.
I agreed to go on a camping trip with my best friend and her new boyfriend, Finn, but I never agreed to share a tent with Finn’s best friend, Brody. Brody is a pompous full of himself jock. He thinks he rules the world because he’s some hotshot baseball player, but the jokes on him because I don’t even watch sports. I just need to get past this weekend without killing him and then I never have to deal with his arrogant ass again.

This is Susie and Brody's story. He is a hot shot baseball player who is a major player. They both are best friends with the couple from the first book and so they get stuck together a lot. The story opens up on the camping trip with the new couple.

While I enjoyed the attraction between Susie and Brody and liked their bickering, at times it got too much for me and I wanted them to move on. What did intrigue me about Brody is that he was a nerd growing up and not a jock. His backstory intrigued me and kept me reading to find out why he was the way he was.

This story gave me a bit of whip lash. Brodie was this awesome guy one second and the next was the biggest jerk on the planet. What I did like was that Susie does not take it and she gives him attitude right back and doesn't play his mind games.

If you like messed up heroes and lots of angyst then you will love this story.

Susie and Brody oh my they have that instant I hate you thing going on and I might want to push you into a bear with rabies thing going on well in Brody's case that's how Susie feels but there co-camping trip with there best friends will open both there eye's.

Brody is the typical guy he's good looking and arrogant gets what he wants when it comes to women and it probably doesn't hurt that this former nerd is now a baseball player but Susie doesn't know and couldn't care less.

Susie is on a journey trying to make her way in a new city along with all her friends and she doesn't need some to hot fore himself jerk trying to bring her down boring what dose he know anyway. Just maybe Susie can discover all Brody's secrets and find the decent good guy hidden behind the pain.

This was a fun read with laughter and heart especially when it came to Brody also the sparks that Susie and Brody give off didn't hurt either.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Changing For Love -
Brody was a billionaire playboy with complex issues that stemmed from his childhood. Susie in the other hand wasn’t into flings or one night stands. However, there seemed to be a deeper connection between them that they couldn’t explain, but their insecurities and weariness of relationships nearly cost them the opportunity of having a forever. It would take them opening up to each other with better communication and working on forgiveness, for them to find their happiness together.

If you are looking for a story to sink your teeth into for a few hours, then I would happily suggest you take a chance on this thrilling book. The banter was engaging, but also colourful, the storyline kept me on the edge of my seat and the most important thing was that I couldn’t stop reading until I reached the end. This is a definite must read story.

Lots of built up emotion and guilt mix in with new love in this J.S. Cooper hit.
Standalone with no Cliffhangers.
Susie has agreed to move to New York with her best friend Marcia. Marcia has convinced Susie to go camping with her and her new boyfriend, only the boyfriend brought a friend too. Sexy but totally arrogant baseball player Brody. As much as she tries to get along with him, he keeps screwing up.
Brody has lived a no holds barred lifestyle for so long he doesn't even remember how to be a gentleman anymore. But Susie makes him want to be one. Can he get his stuff together or will he screw up one too many times.
Even I at one point thought WHAT don't give him another chance (and I'm a major romantic) but when all the secrets are revealed and conversations are had, then love has a real fighting chance.
Great book.

This is the second book in this incredible series and is Brody and Susie’s story. Susie agrees to a camping weekend with her best friend Marcia and her boyfriend Finn; however, she is more that a tad peeved when she must share a tent with Brody, who is Finn’s best friend. Brody is a cocky baseball player, who is used to having his own way whenever he wants it, but when he and Susie do not get off to the best of introductions, they continually butt heads. Susie is feisty and more than capable of standing up for herself, and she certainly knows how to put Brody in his place, but she also knows there is more to him than meets the eye. This is a well written story which pulls at the heartstrings, and is a fun, and entertaining page turner, with humor, witty banter, emotions, and love, which all leads to a compelling tale. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A testy start to their relationship leads to fiery interactions, over-the-top dirty flirting and steamy kisses. Brody has hidden his past from everyone behind his excessive playboy behaviour but some unguarded time with Olivia reveals one little truth that turns his entire life upside down. Brody has been a dirty dog with his treatment of women and he uses that persona as a shield to hold back his tragedy. Don’t get me wrong at times I wanted to slap him up the side of the head with a wet fish but his story drew on the heartstrings when it was revealed. He certainly found a special girl in Olivia as she gives more second chances than I think any normal girl would, but I guess she is in love. A brilliant addition to this series and looking forward to the next book.

When Susie agreed to go on a camping trip with her best friend Marcia and her boyfriend Finn she wasn’t aware that it would include sharing a tent with Finn’s best friend. From their first meeting the sparks of antagonism flew as she believed him to be a player both on and off the field.

Brody is a baseball player who is accustomed to woman falling for his charm and he believes the same will hold true for Susie, but he couldn’t be more wrong. She has a way of challenging him like no other will he let her breakthrough the walls he has built around himself or will he push her away?

The interaction between Susie and Brody were humorous and they were drawn to each other despite the fact that both were trying to deny it. I enjoyed seeing the evolution of Brody’s character as he finally gives into his feelings and realizes what they could have together.

A really good read.

This storyline is nothing like the first book, in the sense that it isn't as lighthearted and humorous.
Having said that, it's another excellent read.
As well as being encompassing, this made me reflect on my own life and the people I've known over the years.
We have all met that someone who acts like a jerk but you know they're using it to cover something, whether we realise it at the time or not.
Maybe we've even done a similar thing ourselves, but over much smaller issues.
It reminded me of the old saying "hindsight is much easier than foresight" and maybe 'explains' some of the people I've come across in my life.
So, yet another excellent book by this author which gently covers a mental health issue and yet finishes in my favourite way...... a HEA.
