When the Greek Gods and Goddesses were usurped from their home on Mt. Olympus, they crashed upon Earth and enslaved the human race. Children spend their existence inside prisons ran by ruthless Immortals, and upon their eighteenth birthday, they are thrown into an arena to be fought after. Once won, they are scarified with their name and short-lived identity in an unforgiving world, where there is an absence of hope for people with mortality coursing through their red veins.
Servitude shackled humanity, but then a girl stood in the arena on the first summer solstice since she turned eighteen years old. A nameless girl, trembling behind the safety of her friend, landed in the Gods' worlds without knowing that she was going to be their unraveling. This wide-eyed slave, who bled two colors.
One red like humans.
One gold like the gods.
Five hundred years ago, humanity's freedom died, but she's here to take it back.
Read if you like- ✔️ Percy Jackson and the Olympians ✔️ Gladiator vibes ✔️ Greek mythology ✔️ Titans and gods ✔️ Romantasy ✔️ Dystopia ✔️ Angsty ✔️ Betrayals
In a time when the world has fallen and the Greek gods have enslaved human society, with no demigods to exist; a girl is being prepared to be sold in the arena to these immortals. Humans are nothing but property to them, until that one girl who comes into play, who bleeds crimson and ichor.
The plot is really interesting and the way it is written is really beautiful. I personally would say it is written way better than The Song of Achilles. The story is easy to follow, until the epilogue, idk what happened there. Also, the concept of three loves and being plagued by them that even the gods fear it, was really interesting.
The mythology part is easy to understand, my inner Percy Jackson fan was so into it. It definitely has a dark tone to it. Tho I did feel the lack of quests and action overall. So if you're expecting it to be action packed and the characters always having something to do- don't.
There are few things that could've been better, apart from including action scenes. I believe the pacing could have been worked on, it is really slow especially in the second half, the first half of the book is unputdownable. Then the FMC could've been written in a more confident nature.
The FMCs name wasn't revealed until page 182, I won't reveal it either cause the author obviously intended it to be a mystery aspect. There's a whole story attached to it. Her personality came across as bland and dumb, lacking a fair bit of common sense. Look, I get that the conditions she's coming from and her situation did not help her develop properly but when she first stood up to Hecate in the beginning, I thought she would at least be bold. But she wasn't, she was extremely vulnerable throughout the book, always depending on someone to come save her. But she was getting some training, so hopefully we'll see her be confident and brave in the second book.
Coming to other characters, Epiales and Hermes- both were interesting and good as "love interests". There were some really beautiful scenes written with the two. Tho I lean towards Epiales more, cause me likes grey characters 🤦♀️ Hermes was compassionate. Hades and Persephone were by far the best. As a PJO fan, I was kinda disappointed that there was no Poseidon 🤷♀️ I kinda wonder if her third love will be Ares 🤔
The ending was okay-ish, kind of underwhelming cause of that epilogue in my opinion. It was impactful yes, but the way it was written was messy.
Overall, it's a decent read. I enjoyed it, but certainly the author can work on some things in the future. I'm really invested in the story, so will continue with the series.
I would recommend it to people who enjoy Greek mythology retellings.

Apparently it's a dark and forbidden version of Percy Jackson 👀
This is a one POV book, told by the POV of Saffron.
I can´t wait to see Saffron grow from the shy, intimidated woman she was in the beginning of the book into a strong and fierce warrior that she should be, I can definitely see it coming. In the beginning I was so confused as to what I should make of her. For the good first third/half of the book she is nameless, storyless and basically felt like a bland, unwritten character. That only changed towards the middle when she finally showed some of her bark and her personality.
Regarding side characters I loved the appearance that Hades and Persephone made as well as the one Nike did. While I frequently see Hades and Persephone in retellings, we don´t often have Nike in them so it was interesting to see some of the "lesser known" gods presented as well. I truly loved Hermes appearance and I think (I truly hope) that he will become a main character in the second book of the series.
I loved the hint of romance in this book, it also felt a bit refreshing that it wasn´t the classic Hades x Persephone retelling but a greek mythology book with a little different twist. This one is a little bit like a dark, forbidden version of Percy Jackson for grown ups. I mean, prophecy, demigod that shouldn´t have been born, the gods versus Kronos. Do I need to say more!? The pacing is good and with the short chapters it´s pretty easy to read and flows well. The beginning felt a bit mysterious and for the first half of the book I was really confused as to what is really going on (that is the reason this book got a bit downgraded) but towards the end the story became more clearer and with the added background story it made much more sense. I´m hoping to see some more action scenes added to the next book as well as a bit more of the romance part!
Overall it was a good, decent start to the series and I´m hoping for more in book two.
trigger warnings: murder/attempted murder, rape (mentioned), murder of pregnant women (mentioned), slavery, suicide attempt, self harm
this book gets better with every page. I don’t know how that’s possible, but every time there’s a scene change, every time we meet someone new, every time we learn an answer to a question, it just gets better. I cannot stress how unique that is and how much I enjoyed this book because of that.
In the story, we meet a young girl, who is imprisoned, because she is a human, and on her 18th birthday, she must go into an arena where the Olympians will fight for her servitude for as long as she lives - which no one expects to be long. She has several gods who fight for her, and makes history with the amount of gods who want her. Ares wins the battle, but our main character fights for her life because she knows that female slaves do not survive pass tonight one in Ares’ palace.
This story is equally adventurous, as it is a coming of age story, and a story about identity. The immortal Greek gods are equally true to tradition, while also being modern and interesting and new. The characters in this story are as unique and interesting as their names. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series . I love our main character, I love the story behind her name, I love how human she is- even if that’s not all she is. Truly, this book has everything. Romance, adventure, mythology, friendships, etc.
I am so glad I got Kindle unlimited and was able to read this book, I cannot say anything but glowing things about it.
Captivating. Is the only word that comes to mind to summarise this book. If you love mythology, mystery and suspense this is the book for you. I can’t wait to complete the series. Trish out did herself and breathed new life into a timeless tale of Olympic gods, heroes, villains and humanities never dying believe in hope.
It took me awhile to like this book because there are so many unanswered questions. But as things get revealed and the MC develops, it becomes a lot more interesting. It reminded me a lot of Touch of Darkness, so I kept picturing certain characters the same way I did reading that. I am looking forward to the second book 😊
@booktoklife4me This book was absolutely amazing! I felt like I was sucked in through a portal and was spit out in the world of the Gods! I fell in love with not only the protagonist but also the side characters. I am very careful about the books that I give a 5 star rating to and I didn't expect that this would be one of them since I had never read anything from this author. But when an author can write in a way that makes me feel like I was "in" the story, I will usually purchase every book that this author has written. Some of my favorite authors include Nora Roberts, Gena Showalter and Jaymin Eve. Constructive Criticism: I found a couple of grammatical errors and there were a few repetitions of things that I didn't like. I would also consider introducing less Gods and their descriptions. I had to slow down and process a few times because I lost track of who was who. But overall, one of my favorite books of 2022.
So first let me start with WOW because the story building was great and I’ll be the first to admit that I took me some time to get through it due to needing to really pay attention to what I was reading. Secondly I don’t care for cliffhangers but I really like how this one left off… VERY EXCITED FOR BOOK 2!!! Great story, love the gods and goddesses throughout the book.
If you have ever played the famous playstation video game "God of war", you will understand that you can take the lovely stories and characters (being Gods and Goddesses) of the Greek Mythology and place a side story just within in a seamless way.
And the result can be just as beautiful as the original mythology. What is this novel all about? A plain simple of what I'm commenting on this post. The author has taken her own story and has put it inside the Greek Mythology in a beautiful way, with a female main character who you'll fall in love with from the very beginning.
Wow this was absolutely incredible! What an amazing read. I love any books about Greek Mythology but this one tops them all. The writing style is spot on, the characters are amazing and well written, and the twists! The reveals! Amazing. Can’t wait to get stuck into book 2
I saw this book on TikTok and when I heard it's about Greek mythology I was sold. I got this book on KU, but I am getting myself a physical copy because I need it.
Ichor is this amazingly written fantasy book that is filled with Greek mythology in a way no other book has been so far (at least from the books that I've read). The writing in this one is EVERYTHING. We get descriptions that are so detailed and oh my gosh the battle scenes are to die for. As a huge fan of reading battle related books, I have to say that this book has one of my favorite battle scenes ever.
The characters have a great development and I really liked how the FMC interacted with the gods and humans. Each of the gods were so well described with all their attributes and stories. It was really fun to read about them.
Overall, this book is amazing and if you like Greek Mythology you just simply need to read it. It is a dark book so make sure to check out TWs before picking it up. I honestly can't wait to get my hands on the sequel.
I am a fan of Greek mythology, and Ichor didn't disappoint. In fact, I felt like I had to google a lot of the names in the book, because there were many I didn't know about.
Trish did an excellent job with all the different gods and goddesses she included in the book, especially Hermes as the main male character. He is a god that doesn't get a lot of limelight, but Trish made up for it. The god of thievery stole my heart. He is the perfect match for the strong female character. She does get a name later on in the book, but how she gets that name is so thoughtful and don't want to give that away.
The writing was beautiful, and captivating. The plot was very engaging, had me on the edge of my seat, and thought through, which couldn't have been easy with all the different mythologies in the book.
I honestly can't wait for the second book because of all the questions I have. I easily give this book 5 stars and will be thinking about this book for a while.
None of my expectations were met. This book kicked my expectations in the teeth and is now my golden standard of what a retelling, reimagined or Greek mythology inspired story should be. For starters, the writing is solid. It doesn’t read like fanfiction but legit literature. I did not feel like the author dropped me off at a point in the main characters story where I felt rushed into the first problem or main plot. There was just enough back story and lore as I read to support the events as they were presented.
It was over all a refreshing take on the lives and relationships between Greek Gods that wasn’t overly sexually charged or quirky. If all you read are Hades and Persephone books, you will be pleasantly surprised when you read this book.
Only complaint: I buy physical copies of all the books I love and I only buy hardbacks. This one isn’t available in hardback… So I might have to make an exception!
Fantastic book! I have been feeling a little burnt out with reading lately, but this one sucked me in quickly! There are complex characters with a lot of development throughout the book. Ichor also has some secrets, betrayal, and a little enemies to lovers going on. There are slow burning romances, but so far, the series isn’t spicy. I personally need more plot than spice, so this is still a must read from my perspective. There is a cliff hanger, but luckily the next in the series is coming very soon.
Anyone who loves anything to do with Greek mythology read this! Was such a good read with a fun twist on the gods we all know and love/despise. Easy to read with such interesting characters and plot twists.
This book got better and better with each page! There was so many twists and turns that I didn't know what was going to happen next. The ending was a huge cliffhanger but definitely has me wanting to know what is going to happen next. This is just superb writing and I loved it so much!
I am a sucker for a good Greek God retelling (cough Hades cough) and I was not disappointed. The book is a refreshing take on the Greek Gods by making them immortal monsters that enslaved the human race.
The main character, Saffron, is special from the moment we meet her. She can dream while other humans can’t. She goes on a journey to learn who she is throughout the book.
I love the plot and the story details. How the author describes the fight scenes was wonderfully done.
This book feels like someone obsessed with The Lightning Thief who finally decided to make their Wattpad dreams come true...Buddy read with Del
I was going to rate this a 3 but after writing this review, it really deserves a 2.
I wanted to love this. Honestly, the first ten chapters had me hooked—but the further I got, the more disinterested I became. By the time Greek gods were playing Monopoly and characters were calling each other “salty,” I was rolling my eyes.
Trish’s writing feels lazy at times, especially when it comes to character development and storylines. She seems to take pride in killing off characters (something she even mentions on her Instagram), but that’s part of the problem. We’re introduced to so many people with no time to actually connect with them. Then, when they die, it means nothing because we barely know them, and it honestly comes off as her being too lazy to flesh them out.
Hermes, the supposed love interest, is painfully dull, there’s zero spark. He's TOO nice, NONE of the gods are nice, and the fact that he is written so black and white is AGAIN poor writing. Saffron actually has more chemistry with Ares than with him. And those “deep” conversations that could’ve added emotional weight? They start and then just... stop. The author never expands on them, leaving readers hanging.
Add in frequent typos, inconsistent pacing, and writing that feels aimed at a much younger audience (maybe 12–16), and the result is disappointing. I had high hopes because of the glowing ratings, but with only around 100 reviews, that 4-star average is pretty misleading.
Overall, this story had so much potential, but unfortunately, it was given to the wrong writer to bring it to life.
I ATE this book up. I don’t frequently read books involving Greek gods but I couldn’t put it down. The ending had me wanting to open the next one immediately. The story is so different than anything else I’ve read, the characters are great and likable/or very disliked but that’s the point. I would absolutely recommend this to someone.
I was looking forward to the premise of this book, but it was just awfully written. Several words look like the author found random replacements from a thesaurus without fully understanding their meaning. Even more words, grammar, and sentence structure were used incorrectly all together.
If this was a story written for fun by a friend I would be less harsh, but I am stunned that this is for sale from bookstores. There is no possible way it received professional editing.
It also seems like a knock off of ACOTAR. Girl who is not only illiterate but also unable to count??? Has a trapped shadow lover of questionable morals comfort her in dreams to get her through a harrowing 18 year prison experience….etc.
There are other inconsistencies like referring to food as brown round food in one sentence and then as pancakes in the next prior to anyone explaining what the food is.
Also, for the love of god, the author purports to be body positive but refers to a double chin as a “fat flap”?? I am all for a larger range of bodies portrayed in literature but I don’t think calling any part of myself a “fat flap” would ever make me feel beautiful?
I am mostly just annoyed this is rated so highly I spent money to read it. DNF. There are so many other better options to spend your money on.
SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! This was -- is -- an incredible book! I loved this...even though at first I was kinda hesitant, but then I continued reading and I'm so thankful I did! Because wow!
The development of Saffron's character into her demi-god role (even though she was unaware of this status and her growth for most of the book) is heartbreaking but amazing.
This book tied Greek mythology into a new and amazing world (even though it sucks cause humans are slaves!) Boo 👎and the damn ending! Ugh! So many questions, and so little answers...what happened to Saffron? Is she still alive? Why did she jump? Where is Poseidon and Athena? Are Hades and Persephone alright? What's going to happen to Hermes and the other three that Kronos left "alive"? And a lot more than just these few questions.
But still, I definitely recommend this book, and I can't wait for book #2! And I'm glad I came across this book recommendation on BookTok 🙂
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Re-read: I had to read the first one again, in order to fully understand the second book and it was the best thing I could've done. I forgot how great this book is and am excited to now start the next parts fully prepared.

a brilliant idea and reinvention of the story. incredibly fun to read and generally an emotional rollercoaster ride, because you realize how well thought out and coherent everything is. i'm very curious to see how it will continue!
