A secret baby. A fiery redhead. And a love that is forbidden.

Brock Baker used to have it all. A gorgeous wife, a positive attitude, and a fun life on the family ranch. Now he’s divorced, moody, and grieving the life he could have had.

Then one day his ex-wife’s sister knocks on the door. He tries to make her go away, but she’s a stubborn redhead, just like his ex. And the news she brings shakes up his world.

Piper Scott has always lived in her wild older sister’s shadow. Now Madison is dead, and Piper has to clean up the loose ends of her life. Namely, Brooklyn, Madison’s two-month-old secret baby. In her heart, Piper knows the baby should be with her father. But there’s one problem: the father doesn’t know the baby exists.

When Brock hears the news and meets his daughter, he’s in shock. He bribes Piper into staying and teaching him to be a good dad. Tensions are high, and neither will admit their growing attraction to each other.

Are the feelings he’s developing for Piper real? Or is it just because she’s so much like his ex-wife...

Piper vows to herself that handsome cowboy Brock is off-limits. But her heart keeps pulling her toward him. Does she have the courage to leave Brock and little Brooklyn behind?

Cowboys and Broken Hearts is a book dealing with both death and life. Brock is the brooding brother of the Baker brothers. He has grieved the loss of his wife Madison of two months for a year. They married on Valentine's day a year ago and today is especially hard on him. But when there is knocking at the front door and no one goes to answer it Brock opens the door to a change of life he did not know existed. On the other side of the door stood Piper, Madison's younger sister that looked so much like Madison. That wasn't all. She had a baby girl named Brooklyn that she tells Brock is his and Madison's daughter. Brock doesn't know what to say. Then Piper tells him Madison is dead. The woman he had begged and pleaded to come back to him is now forever gone and he has a child to raise as a single parent.

Piper tells Brock that Madison came to live with her and their aunt in Washington. She did not do all the traveling she said she wanted to do. Piper also tells Brock she never dated another man after their break up. She made Piper the guardian of Brooklyn and after two months of raising her she felt that Brock should know about his daughter. Their mother wanted the baby put up for adoption and Brock never be told. So Piper would have to go against her family to do the right thing. Brock talks Piper into staying to help teach him how to care for Brooklyn. They fight like he and Madison did. But neither could deny the pull each one has for each other. It takes a talk from Finn to make Brock and Piper see that they have to tell each other how they feel before Piper decides to leave. The one thing Piper asked Brock was that did he want her because she looked like Madison?

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and felt that there was some realness to Brock being unsure if he was fit to be a father after finding out his ex-wife passed away. Additionally, it made sense that Piper would feel unsure if Brock truly cared for her or just the idea of a replacement for her sister making me scream in my head that the two needed to communicate by the end of it all. I felt that the first ten chapters were a bit of running around in circles as it took place during the same night and some of this could have been cut down to expand on the relationship between Piper and Brock or even Brock and the baby. Because of this, it was a bit of a slower start for me, but the overall book is my favorite of the first four that I've read in the series. I liked that their relationship was built over a little more time than the previous relationships and they didn't jump into telling each other they love each other within the first week *cough* Tate *cough*. After the Christmas Kisses I was a bit unsure if I would finish the rest of the series, but after this one and moving into Finn, I do plan to finish this out as I enjoyed their relationship overall and am excited for Finn's character.

This is a wonderful story that grabs you from page 1 and keeps your interest until the very end. Brock and Madison were high school sweethearts who married after high school. Shortly later Madison decided that she did not want to be married so she left and shortly after filed for divorce. Brock was devastated and broken hearted. A year has passed and he is still missing Madison and wanting her back. Piper, Madison's younger sister shows up at the ranch with a 2 month old baby and Brock is the father. Madison died shortly after the baby was born and appointed Piper as guardian. Piper wants to leave the baby with Brock and get back to her life in Washington. Brock has no clue how to care for a baby so he wants Piper to stay for a while while he learns how to take care of the baby. Will Piper stay? Will Brock finally realize he has room in his heart for his baby and for Piper?

Interesting storyline! At first, it is an ew no! But the author engineered the story and the characters in such a way that their feelings were honest and the baggage of the past dealt with nicely-not an easy feat. The H was strong, insecure, brooding, holding onto the past and closed off to any future. The h was a survivor in a toxic family that freely used her to clean up their messes. The h's mother was a waste of oxygen while the H's family was warm and nurturing. Enter secret baby, dead baby mama and an aunt who loved the baby, grew to love the H and fought for their future. Someone needed to as the H was too insecure and anxious to make informed decisions.

Commonsense, honest feelings and a loved baby led to their HEA.

Cowboys & Broken Hearts is Brock's story - a sweet, heartwarming romance! The divorced, moody brother gets a huge shock when Piper, his ex-wife's sister, appears with Brock's baby and the news her mother is dead! This well written book details Brock's struggles to accept the news and to learn to be a dad. He seeks Piper's help and wonders if the feeling he develops are real or just because she is so like her sister. It is sad to know there are people like Piper's selfish mother. I devoured this book as quickly as I could because I had to see how Mss. Dean would bring everything to a satisfactory conclusion!

Cowboys & Broken Hearts

Brock and Piper have a sweet story. Brock has been the brooding Baker brother. The only brother that has been married and his wife just walked away with no explanation leaving him with a broken heart. When Piper, his ex wife Madison’s sister, shows up with a baby in tow he finds out that Madison has died leaving her child to Piper as guardian. Piper’s family is ready for her to give the child up for adoption but Piper felt the need to take the baby to her father. Brock convinces Piper to stay to help take care of the child. What happens when they begin to have feelings for each other?

I enjoyed this book so much. I was pulling for Piper from the very first page, I felt she deserved to get all she wanted out of life after all life threw at her. Brock had so many emotions to deal with, and if it wasn’t for his awesome family I don’t think he’d be able to do it. I didn’t want to stop turning the pages till the end. I loved all the ups and downs, drama, surprises, and how most everyone truly cared for each other. This book it totally worth reading, I wasn’t disappointed and I don’t believe you will be either.

Brock had faith.
I read this series so out of order but I am kind of glad that I waited to read Brock’s story last. Brock was the one brother who married but it did not turn out to be the same love match as the others. One word I can say about this one is wow did the author not throw a monkey wrench into his life awesome twist. I really liked Piper she was a great character. No matter the ups and downs in this story the ending was grand. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

there is life after love

My heart alternated between hurting for Brock and wanting to shake him since book 1. To be blindsided by Piper with Brooklyn and news that Madison had died certainly threw his world in a bigger tailspin than I could imagine.

Both Brock and Piper were stubborn and hurting but wanted only the best for Brooklyn so while I had to shake my head at something they did it was very satisfying to see them grow and fall in love plus Piper standing up to me mom. I can’t wait to read Finns story next!

This one was better than the previous book in the series, I think. Again, the MCs didn't know how to talk to each other. So there's a good bit of misunderstanding and "Should I? Shouldn't I?" to wade through. Again, it's a clean, contemporary, romance novel with a couple of references to faith. I like the tension in this one the best so far. It wasn't quite as "Hallmark-ish". If you enjoy clean cowboy romance, you might like this one.

like Dominoes

So this is the fourth Baker Brother getting married. The twist here is that Brock is damaged by a bad relationship where Madison took off, divorced him, had his baby and died. Little sister Piper shows up it’s the baby ( Surprise!). More than the usual angst with this one though. Piper’s mother shows up with a couple to adopt the baby, but the Baker clan closes ranks around Piper and Brooklyn.

Great Series

I'm really enjoying this series and getting to know all the Baker brothers. I loved Brock and Piper's story. He was broken from his past marriage. She was from a dysfunctional family and his ex-wife's sister. Lots of complications and emotions which all make for a captivating read.

Love cowboy romances

Loved the baker family romances. Sean, Brock,
Finn and the mom love story were my favorite . Cal was immature. Ian is all about me and jessica. Brock is stubborn. Finn is a romantic the most sensible one. Sean is hard headed but sweet. Tate was sensitive smart one. Loved them all.

Tedious

This is second book I've read by this author & wanted to give her another chance because I didn't care for the first book. I didn't like this one any better. I can understand Piper falling for Brock. But all thru the book, all he thinks of is Madison. Then, at the end, he's suddenly in love with Piper? Doesn't ring true. Moving on to other authors.

Piper and Brock are a very unusual pair. But they are much better together than apart.

If there is anyone in this story that needs to be gotten rid of, it's Piper's Mom what a bitch! Piper did a very good job of finally shutting her up! And taking Brock out of his brooding stage. What a pair of stubborn people.

Another winner in the series. Falling for your ex-sister in law might not be a smart move, but.... Good clean romance.
