Kindred Kitties #1

Kitty Cornered

Rate this book
I never thought it would come to this.

My family is organized chaos with plenty of debts to settle and lots of under-the-table deals. I'm the only one of our family that can shapeshift, making me a rarity worth plenty of money. I just never thought that they'd try to sell me. When I hear that my uncle has arranged a marriage for me to the tune of several million dollars, I know I can't marry someone I've never met even if it clears away some family debt.

I escape through the local pet shelter posing as a sweet, homeless kitty cat looking for my forever family. Better yet, the guy who wants me is huge. Tattooed, leathered skin, and plenty of skeletons in his closet; he takes me home to his club of guys just like him. I'm surrounded by handsome, older men who want nothing more than to keep me in their lap and cuddle me close.

The only issue is, they don't know I'm a shifter. And if they catch me in my human form, I guess the cat's out of the bag. I don't know how they'll react and, when my family starts posting lost pet signs everywhere, I'm racing against the clock to decide: am I my new home's pretty pet? Or so much more?

Kitty Cornered is a reverse harem paranormal cat shifter age gap motorcycle club romance. What a mouthful! It's intended for mature adults only due to steamy, sizzling scenes found within.

This was like a 2.5/3 for me. The story and premise is interesting, but I wasn’t expecting the content to lean so dark. I think I was expecting more humor, the cover art is extremely misleading once you read the story. There are some funny moments, but overall the plot and the characters are dark and there are scenes of violence as well as some mild dubious consent scenarios. One of the main side plots is a gang war with graphic violence described.

I was also really thrown by the inclusion of Thomas’s POVs. I can only guess that he’s potentially going to be included as a love interest, but his inner musings were horrible, especially his thoughts about Angel. It was disturbing to think he may stick around, I can’t see him being redeemed without a full personality transplant because he’s awful. Thomas also has those ‘poor little rich boy’ vibes with his pet gang that make him seem a bit TSTL if I’m being honest

Also, I get that it’s a cat shifter story, but there was a LOT of cat education and pet advice included that seemed a bit… superfluous and soapboxy

I really enjoyed this but it was much darker than expected! Some grammatical errors but overall it was really good and I'm excited to find out what happens next for Angel and her guys!

3,5 stars actually

The moment i read the synopsis of this book i was hooked all the way. I like the age gap, the twist where the fmc Angel turns into a cat and gets adopted with the guys not knowing she can turn into a human. I really liked the concept and it was great. Even tho i felt some things could have been different.
I wonder where Thomas is gonna end up, he is a hard one to know where he stands. His behavior towards Angel was so not okay, he was a hard man or boy lol. He had gone thru loss and was a bit weird. But the fact that we got to read from his PoV i feel like he might change or he will stay at the other side?? But he was against the uncle´s ideas so that´s something good at least.
I am looking forward to the next book but also Becketts other age gap books xD

From this cover I expected a cute little romcom, maybe some highjinx or shenanigans. 😂 This is much darker, more gritty. There's gun fights, lecherous family members and a prospective alpha mate who thinks the best way to make his lady happy is probably chaining her up and locking her in a room "for her own good."
But it also includes the cutest description of cat shifters I've ever read (house cat, mind you). And when Angel runs from all the abuse she's suffered she lands in the laps of rough older ex-bikers who are cat crazy. So it can be adorable, too. I highly recommend, if you love cats and are in the mood for something a little offbeat.

I really couldn't wait to read this story after I read the blurb. But once I got to Thomas' POV I got so confused as to where the story was going to go. I stopped reading a couple of times but finally at 79% because I just couldn't make sense of it all. I was disappointed in this one. A DNF for me.

Rough

This is rough. The short summary of what this book is about was the only intriguing thing about this whole book. The minute you start reading the first few pages the book bombs completely. This idea was awesome! But the execution was a huge let down.

This was a solid read with an interesting premise! I liked the fmc, though the book could’ve used another round of editing, imo.

Angel was a solid character, she’s seemingly innocent but thankfully not too much. I like how her personality started coming through more after she’s “adopted.” I like the shifter concept and with her being a kitty is cool.

The guys were sweet, but honestly at one point they sounded downright geriatric. Like I know it’s age gap but the author could’ve made them seem a little bit more attractive? At one point i was thinking they were in their 60s 🤷🏻‍♀️ apparently it’s in their 40s, though i do wish it were maybe a little less since she’s 19.

There’s two? sex scenes and for the most part they’re alright, but both featured moments that really take you out of the mood lol. Idk if the author was trying to make it “realistic” but idk, it didn’t fully work for me.

Idk if Thomas is gearing up to be in her harem, but based on his POV he really didn’t come across well to me.

Overall, it was an easy read with a cool concept, I’ll probably read book 2.

I fully enjoyed this book!

We have Angel, a 19-year-old kitty shifter who has been locked up her whole life by her uncle because she is one of the few shifters who still have the ability to shift. So she gets sold. Of course. To be a breeder for some rich dude who also is the leader of the Slaughter gang? Anyways, she ends up escaping their clutches by turning into a kitty and being adopted by a scary huge older dude, who turns out to be one of four in a biker club. I like these dudes. I definitely want to learn more about them. That cliffhanger was sudden! I need to know how the rich dude (Thomas) becomes part of the RH!

This was honestly only a 4 star read for me, until the very last part! And since I totally loved the cliffhanger, I bumped up my rating.

Great story!

So I grabbed this book purely for the blurb, who doesn’t want to read about a cat shifter that gets adopted by big bad bikers.
The beginning I have to say I wasn’t sure I was going to connect with Angel, but I understood she had been through a lot so far but I wasn’t clicking. That was till she decided to run, hide and get adopted as a cat. From that moment on I was hooked. I loved the guys and how they just doted on this little cat they named cupcake, it was heart melting. And once they realized what she was, things got spicy.
Definitely a great read and will be looking forward to book 2.

Great read.

What a read, started out a bit bleak with the whole locked in thing but by the end you've been through so many twists and turns that everything was a surprise.

Darker than the cover let's on

The MFC is a cat shifter in a world where not all shifters can shift any more, she is incredibly valuable as an asset to her uncle. Her life has been spent locked away, until he decides to marry her off. The story was what I'll call tangy sweet. Some moments were cute beyond belief but it didn't feel cheesy because the author kept some of it realistic in terms of real life problems. I'll check out the next for sure.

That was great!

I really enjoyed this first book, don’t let the cover out you off in thinking it’s not what your after, there was steam, violence, laughter and lots more. Can’t wait for the next instalment

Interesting

I really liked the concept of this book. There were a few things that didn’t quite line up consistently in the plot. I’m interested in how this will play out in though.

I like how unique the story is. A kitty cat shifter? Adorable. But can't say the book kept me interested enough to like it. There's some typos but it wasn't so bad. What made me dnf There's also a lack of chemistry. She seems to be just jumping all the guys. Literally climbing on them like a tree. But I think some readers might enjoy this book.

DNF at 30%. I read the description and it was everything I ever wanted in a book! House cat shifter being adopted through an animal rescue to escape an abusive home and arranged marriage? Sign me the heck up! Unfortunately, this book failed to deliver on literally every front. The narratives were confusing, there was only dialogue and no descriptive text, the characters were hard to keep straight. I'm sure there was more, but it was just a hot mess.

Needs work

I absolutely loved the syllabus and the plot points, which is why I gave it 2 stars and not less.
But the characters need a lot of work, their personalities kept changing making me wonder if I was still on the same persons point of view or different. The characters would act one way and completely change the next. Making it really confusing and the characters pov very undesirable.

This was cute and might just get me back into paranormal reads. I’ve been in a contemporary funk cause i have a thing for traumatic past or a mental issue (like psychotic breaks, ptsd, schizophrenia, mute etc.) where the guys help her. I guess this read kind of fits that.

Angel is nineteen and her uncle sells her to breed her so he can sell her kittens to clear his debt. Fucked up right? Anyways Thomas comes across as a machochistic dick with plans to do just that - breed her over and over. Afterall he spent millions on her and has threatened and hurt her in the few hours they know each other. So Angel plans to escape. She shifts and swaps spots with a cat in the shelter who looks like her and is adopted.

Both the guys and Thomas get a shock when they discover that Angel is a girl and the kitty Thomas has been trying to talk down and catch for hours is a he - I did enjoy that.

I did go into this thinking it was a standalone and got a little disappointed when it ended on a little cliffy and so many questions unanswered. Like the first time she gets down and dirty he gets stuck - like being knotted. But next time he doesn’t? Is it because she was in heat and now she isn’t (which it doesn’t specify), is it because it’s the same guy and it only happens once? I feel like I need this answered more than that cliffhanger haha

Overall, this was a quick light and amusing read.

Not sure how I feel

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this book. There is a lot going on. There are a lot of troupes in play, and I'm not sure they all go together.

Angel is a rare shifter who has been extreamly sheltered hee whole life. And by sheltered I mean kept locked in a room by here creepy uncle. She is sold off to be married and literally to be bred to make other shifters.

She manages to escape that fate and finds herself a nice harem of daddies to to live with under the guise that she is a regular house cat.

There is a lot going on in this book. The language is strange and sometimes offputting. I dont know what to make of it.

But damn if I dont want more. The story is interesting and I actually adore the guys, and thomas who I think is supposed to be the "villian"

I kinda just wanna see them all get together, forget about this dumb gang war and breeding plot, and just have the times of their lives.

I didnt know how to rate this because I didnt love it but I didnt hate it and I'll be coming back for more with the second book. So i gave it a 3 maybe 3.5. It was interesting, most of the characters were pretty good. Angel kinda flip flops one minute shes kinda shy then the next she is pouncing on the guys and taking the initiative even though she is inexperienced.

Idk this is just a weird read for me but I liked it and I'm not sure why.

The couple: Angel and Dominik (and some other guys that she isn't with yet in this book)

Romance trope: shifter; reverse harem
Series: Kindred Kitties
Length: 226 pages

Plot: Angel is a rare shifter who can actually change into her housecat counterpart, and her uncle intends to sell her to another shifter family to breed shifters with their son. Thomas is okay with that, even if he would rather continue to mourn the death of his boyfriend. Angel doesn't like his brand of violence and possession though, so she manages to escape him and takes refuge with a houseful of criminal mc types. What will they do when they find out she's not the sweet kitty they adopted from the shelter, but instead is a full-grown woman about to go into heat?

Commentary: The blurb on this one really caught my attention. I don't know that the story quite lived up to my expectations, but maybe the rest of the series will make up for that.

What I liked:
*The humor, definitely.
*Having the shifter be a regular housecat
*The fact that Angel is smart enough to save herself.

What I didn't like:
*One of the (presumptive) mates being so possessive as to not let her be with one of the other guys (and her having to trick him into liking it)
*Having the bad guy's pov (if he is the bad guy)
*The focus on her being a, well, cat in heat. I'm all for sex positivity, but I think it might have been too much at the end when there was so much plot to be explained
*The description of the guys (how old are they? 60? Couldn't be but that's how they sound)

Next book in the series: Tomfoolery

All Angel wants is freedom. When her creepy uncle sells her to another shifter in exchange for getting her family out of mountains of debt, Angel sees her chance. At the animal shelter where her fiancée works, Angel trades places with a stray cat and gets adopted into the Street Cat biker gang. The guys are a bit rough around the edges, but they're not fake or cruel like Angel's uncle or fiancée. She sees her chance to split the clubhouse in the dead of night, but is caught by one of the guys. Will she be able to plead her case or will the guys turn her in for the huge reward?

Honestly, I thought this book would take me longer than an hour... I DEVOURED it. Angel is very likeable and the MC guys are all unique. The take on shifter society is unusual and fresh. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series when it comes out for some closure on that cliffhanger! I want a HEA for our girl and I will settle for nothing less!

I...don't even know what to say. Did this book actually go through editing and proof-reading or whatever else is supposed to happen before publishing? Because OH MY GOD!!!
The number of inconsistencies in this book...I couldn't read more than a few chapters.

This guy Thomas? He has his own POV in the book and that had me a little confused. Is he going to be a love interest? Because if he is, I don't know how he will even have some kind of redemption. He's that bad. I mean, he literally fantasises about slapping the FMC and locking her up...and so much more!!!

Don't even get me started on how the other love interests are described. I kept thinking they were like in their 60s or something because the author kept exaggerating all the problems they had.

The only thing I liked was how cute the FMC was acting when she was in her cat form, but that too eventually got too weird.

I'll give it a 1.5 rating and would not recommend to anyone.

I dont know about this one. The premise is good but once you start reading it....I don't know! Like the female lead comes off as very innocent and naive but when she meets the older gang and she's found out, she becomes this sex vixen all experienced and seductive. It felt almost like I was reading about two different female leads. And don't even get me started on the fact that we've got Thomas pov. Like isn't he supposed to be the bad guy, or is going to get some sort of redemption arc and join her harem because so far, he is rather unlikable. Anyways, I've got more to say but do so I'd have to reveal spoilers and that's not cool. All i can say is, I dropped this book a couple of times and had to debate if I wanted to keep reading. Finally forced myself to finish, only for it to end on a cliffhanger. Yeah, I don't think I'm gonna be reading the next book.

4 stars for a cliffhanger

This book was a really interesting, unique take on cat shifters! I loved Angel's perspective as a kitty, but the character depth was a bit lacking for the other characters and I could never get a good idea of what the Street Cats looked like or distinguish them completely.
This book felt far too short, like it ended in the middle of the story, and while it wasn't an unsatisfactory pause from Angel's perspective, the cliffhanger leaves other characters in question and a sense of frustration. I will be eagerly anticipating the next book and praying it doesn't end on a cliffhanger too!

skimmed through thomas' chapters. i hope he's not gonna become one of the Hs. unless he changes his personality completely and grovels, i guess, but even then, idk... i honestly don't know why we had to see things from his POV.

there were some inconsistencies and the Hs as characters were not evenly developed. some i barely remember the name of, and don't know anything about. im intrigued by slash. an older man who's a virgin - that's rare.
and i liked that there was jealousy between the Hs.
also liked when they interacted with her in cat form.

im gonna read the next book when it's released!

Stumbled upon this book because the cover looked way too cutesy for the erotic section of kindle and I was curious what it could possibly about. The reviews are what convinced me to read it though.
The book is nothing like the cover so don’t judge it based on that. It’s funny, and bloody, and hot 🥵. Never seen a book with cute kitty cat shifters but I absolutely loved it. Definitely worth a read.

The second book’s cover is awesome though.

Loved it

The description doesn't do the book justice!

Angel is a rare cat shifter, due to be married off by her uncle, she managed to escape by pretending to be a car in a sanctuary she was volunteering in.

From there she meets 4 guys who I adore how the author has written them!!

Normally they're hot, young any edible. .... These 4 are old enough to be her dad, scared and just normal, such a nice difference!,

I chose it based solely on the cover and was not disappointed. It's exactly what it says on the tin, a cat shifter escapes her family and death-smelling future mate and gets adopted by a biker gang. I loved the cat shenanigans! It was sweet and comfy to read.

There is a cliffhanger. Not sure what's up with the sequel. Goodreads says its out but amazon disagrees. Hopefully I can read it soon. I need more of my kitty cat and biker gang shenanigans.

Waiting for Book 2
I read this on Kindle Unlimited. The description sounded great! Loved the idea. But it said it was rapid release so I was trying to wait for the next book(s) to come out before reading until eventually, I just said screw it and read it anyway...that may have been a mistake. For anyone wondering, this is not a series of standalones, it will end on a cliff hanger.
And now I'm in the same state I started this journey, waiting for the next books. *sigh

Is he the bad guy???

Ok I'm getting so many different vibes in this book. I know the uncle is bad, but is thomas? Idk. Then we have innocent and sheltered angel, but as the story progressed it seemed she wasn't so innocent. There's A lot of conflicting things in this and leaves me a little confused. However I still like the direction of the book so I definitely will be continuing.
