Breck wants him more than any championship title, but to win him, he’s got to slam dunk the greatest basket of his life.
With college behind him and the NBA in sight, draft shoo-in Breck Harland should be riding cloud nine with visions of grandeur and glory. Should be. He’s striven for this his entire life. But as of late, one all-consuming obstacle has planted itself firmly in the path of his dreams. The obstacle: Kai Nakado. Martial arts Grandmaster and Breck’s dream-Dom obsession. The wonders he’s shown Breck behind the privacy of closed doors, the feelings he’s elicited inside Breck’s elusive heart, have introduced a whole other side to life that Breck never knew existed. What starts out as raw, fiery attraction turns to a soul-deep connection—and King Breck of the Court couldn’t be less prepared. No longer does he merely want Kai. Now he needs him, on a level that shakes his foundation But a future with Kai isn’t possible. Because Kai refuses to hide with Breck in his closet of fear. And going public would all but destroy Breck’s hard-won chances of getting signed. He’s worked too hard, has too much at stake. And now his warring emotions have him mentally spiraling. As Kai teeters on the precipice of cutting his losses, torn by wanting to support Breck but unwilling to tolerate his manic, reckless behavior, Breck is forced to decide which means more: his high-profile basketball career, or a life with Kai - the one and only person on the planet who's managed to claim his heart.
Experience this breathtaking conclusion to the Courtside King Duology, packed with heartfelt struggles and smoldering passion, inside and out of the sheets.
Warning: contains gloriously graphic scenes of guy-on-guy lovin'.
"he’d give Kai everything. his heart. his love. the whole fucking world."
✦ i enjoyed this overall, however, i just couldn't stand Breck's character for most of this duology. i just wanted him to get over himself already lmao. he was always so self centered, immature and conceited. i suppose he did get better towards the end, but still, i liked Kai way more out of the two. ✦ i also personally wanted some more grovelling at the end, and possibly some more time spent with the mcs just being happy together. also would have loved to see Kai meet Breck's parents for the first time. ✦ even though this had some angsty moments, these two just didn't give me the same feels as Tad and Scott. those two are still so cute! ✦ the smut as expected from Kora Knight was pretty damn delicious.
Now we're talking! The first 25 percent of the book consists of a single Shibaru+sex scene. Delicious perfection. In the middle, there's a bit of nice groveling and a really nice speech from Breck to get one last chance from Kai. And then there's an eternally long Shibaru+sex scene that I think has ruined all sex scenes for me in the future. Wow. I would say you should only read book two of this duology, because book one is just way too annoying. But to understand the relationship, or rather non-relationship, between Breck and Kai, you unfortunately have to struggle through the first book. But at least I'm happy now, and this second part was really wonderful, as long as you like sex scenes in your books that are extraordinary, last forever, and are tied up with ropes.
Right behind his nuts, two ropes briefly merging, then going their separate ways again up the sides of his ass. Breck muffled another moan as Kai adjusted it super-snug. It amazed him how effective it was. That simple knot against his taint. Incredible how it elicited such potent sensation. 🤤🤤🤤
Kai had started to feel like his lighthouse. A beacon in the distance, quietly guiding him home. But when Kai cut him loose, it was like his lighthouse went dark. And now Breck felt adrift and completely lost. 🥺🥺🥺
“More?” Kai rasped. “Do you want all of me inside you?” Breck caught his double meaning like a well-aligned lover, his expression shifting from hunger to that of a man harboring impassioned desire. “Yes. Fuck, yes,” he breathed. “Give me every fucking bit of you. But just so you know, I’m never giving it back.” 🫠🫠🫠
Kora knight is the absolute queen of sex scenes that last an entire chapter. And yes I am unashamedly reading every word 🙋🏻♀️ no skimming here.
This duology was addictive I couldn’t put it down. It’s slow burn for a contemporary, especially as the romance is the primary plot. The characters go through a lot of growth together but it’s not painfully drawn out as it in Max and Sean’s duology. I was left feeling satisfied with how things eventuated between them, not like I’d been dragged through the wringer.
The most beautiful depictions of Shibari I’ve ever read. A kink I’ve never previously seen much appeal for but Kora Knight managed to win me over. My google image search history is NOT safe for work.
I tossed up between 4 or 5 stars for this - ultimately I wanted Kai to meet him in the middle a bit more so it’s probably a 4.5 - I felt like Breck was justified in ALL of his feelings and Kai didn’t really attempt to understand them. Which I guess is a testament to this authors writing because in book 1 we are all annoyed at what a dick Breck is but by book 2 I’m firmly in his court and we see it played out on page how his behaviour and attitude is concealing a lot of deeper angst. Great character development right here.
I recommend reading Upending Tad: The Complete Series prior to this for extra context about their early meetings and an introduction to all the side characters - as well as because Tad’s story is just so good! The duology Unearthed between Max and Sean technically comes next but is quite drawn out and angsty and I don’t think you’d miss anything to skip that or come back to it.
Excellent take on a college sports romance mixed with well written kink 👏🏼👏🏼 I had a jolly good time, especially buddy reading it with Evie and Jessica.
This book took every brick that was laid in the foundation of book one and built the most satisfying house of horny romance with the perfect dash of drama.
I don't think I've ever come across an author who could write a single sex scene over multiple chapters and have it stay intense and hot throughout the whole thing. Although that being said, sometimes I struggled to keep track of what was happening when Breck was strung up like a large athletic turkey on Thanksgiving with all the Shibari knots, but I just kind of nodded along thought "this amorphous mess of cock and man sounds hot" and just went with the vibes.
The drama, angst and character development in this was SO SATISFYING and I had a great time and I demolished this audiobook. Although, I did at times feel like Kai could have done with being a little more understanding and gracious with his patience for Breck and the stress that comes with being an athlete trying to go pro and still being in the closet. Especially, given that he was in the ballpark of 8 (ish) years older than Breck. The story really felt like Breck was always asked to change but that even though Kai has shit he needed to work on, it fell a little by the wayside. But there was some good grovelling from both parties which was a very tasty time.
I feel like like this one is probably closer to a 4/4.5 star read, the ending was maybe a little too easily resolved. But I ABSOLUTELY HOOVERED these audiobooks down and the conversation with Sarah and Jessica made this reading experience a 5 star time ❤️.
[This review covers both books in The Courtside King Duology]
Overall, I loved this duology, but book two is where it's at. An honest way to look at it is that Tamed is an edging session for you, the reader 😂 I buddy read with Evie and Sarah, and I remember telling them that I just wanted to smash Breck and Kai together and make them kiss 🙊 Also, Breck being a dick for most of book one didn't lend itself to fun times, but boy oh boy, did he come back around and make things right in book two! Like I said, book two is where it's at 👏🏻
If Tamed was the edging session, Claimed was the climax. Everything that had built up between Breck and Kai in book one exploded in book two. I was INVESTED from the moment book two started and did not want to put it down. I only stopped reading because I literally fell asleep like the old lady I am 💤
Book two had it all - the relationship development, the spice, everything nice. You want groveling? It had that too. Sweet, sweet groveling. Some of the best I've ever read tbh. I will say though that my biggest gripe about it was that things felt a bit too one-sided with Breck giving more than Kai. I think Breck had a lot of growing up to do given how young he is compared to Kai, but at the same time, Kai could have been more understanding and supportive with him. I think he asked a lot of Breck but didn't do a lot of helping get him there 🥲
I kind of wish that book one had gotten to the core of things a little sooner so that more time could have been spent with Breck and Kai after they made things official. That, or a third book full of the exact things I wanted. You know, no big deal 😆 I don't have a problem with how everything ended, but if I'm being honest, I would have loved for Sadly, I wasn't consulted 😂
One more tidbit for you all, and what I wish I had seen BEFORE jumping into the Tad universe was this --> ✨Upending Tad Muse Gallery✨ I am so bad at visualizing characters it would have been super helpful to have seen this in advance. Oh well, what can you do 🤷🏼♀️ Let my loss be your gain. Do yourself a favor and check out the pics so you too can say, "Daaaaaamn boys" 🤣
I’ve waited for this. Pined for this. And devoured this. But…NOT ENOUGH GROVELLING.
No shit. Breck is a dick…still…for a good portion of this. He tries. Fuck knows, he tries. But, for Kai, he keeps coming up short until more than 3/4 of the way through this. It’s infuriating. I just wanted to rip the beer out of his hand and tell him to move out of that frat house.
That’s not my issue though. My issue is that the ending is all of a sudden wrapped up nicely…with some time jumps (which I gritted my teeth through) and we don’t get to see them actually happy together much at all. It’s just glimpses. Definitely not enough.
When the end came I wanted more. More of them together…happy…doing sexy things at The District…taking on the world together…and more grovelling.
It has to be said I still enjoy being in this world. The characters are loveable and the sex is extremely hot, as well as beautiful and loving.
I hope it’s not the end for these guys. Might be time for a reread, starting with Tad and Scott!!!!!
It was ok , I guess, enjoyable . I really thought I would love it but Breck was childish and he was throwing temper tantrums all the time and Kai was obnoxious and nagging (he was acting more like Breck’s father than his bf). Also, forcing Breck to come out after only 3 sex-dates was kind of douchy . And now the good part and why I don’t regret reading this book : IT WAS REALLY DAMN HAWT!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 The bondage (probably very well researched) was spectacular. And hot, did I mention hot?
Angst…angst and more angst. Hot sex and more angst.. you get the picture. Angst…Sometimes so much it hurt. I’m glad they finally found their way back to each other.
The end was perfect maybe too perfect. But after all that angst I guess it needed to be.
FINALLY! The follow up and second book in the Curtsied King duology is here, and we get the second half of Breck and Kai's love story. You definitely need to have read book one, you cannot jump into the story here.
Breck and Kai are just fire when they are together - their chemistry is insanely hot and well written. However, the journey for Breck and Kai to reach their HEA wasn't without its share of challenges and battles.
Although Breck wants Kai, his fear of coming out as bisexual, the pressure his family puts on him to get drafted by the NBA, and fear of "what's next" after college, all have him in a tailspin. There is that push/pull and one step forward, two steps back as Breck and Kai continue to fall for each other despite fears weighing heavily for them both.
I really admire that Kai knew his limits and his worth and wasn't going to put up with being treated like how he was in his previous relationship. It was tough to read, but he was doing the right thing honestly.
I also like how Breck came to his own decisions and realized he needed to cut back on the drinking, and put his personal happiness first, not just a career in sports. I have some mixed feels on how
Also side note - I love the little moments with Tad and Scott now that they are totally all in and open with each other. They are just beyond sweet, and I love seeing them included.
ALSO - can we talk about Ned and his crush?!?! Kora, tell me he's gonna get a story!
Breck and Kai's HEA is pretty freakin' epic - I just loved it. And if you're a fan of shibari and kink (nothing too hardcore, really. It's explicit, but it's not like dark BDSM or anything) then you will enjoy this duology. If you're familiar with Kora's heat levels, you'll love this duology.
I can't wait to see what'll be next from her! (Can we go go back to Nira pleaseeeeeee??)
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is book two of Breck and Kai's story, and it couldn't be more perfect. If you've read the previous series (Upending Tad and The Dungeon Black Duology), you will see a cross over in timelines, but this duology can be read separately (personally I recommend reading all of them). I was just finished Book 1 Tamed before, and there is a little sensual cliffhanger which had me scrambling for this book. The story continues with Breck and Kai finally giving in to their attraction. And Breck finally getting to experience Kai's rope skills. Guess what, he kinda likes it.....a lot....like mind blown subspace!! He learns so many new things in and out of kink that opens his eyes to how to love.
Kai is a different style of Dom to the previous books, where he's all about pleasure and doesn't really do pain play. I love his very calm character compared to Breck's very confused one. It helps bring the two together in supporting each other. They go through personal growth in trust and acceptance, which ends in pure love. You really feel for the characters on their journey that you're willing them on to the end. You don't see a lot of Kai's baggage in the first book, but it's definitely expanded more in this. I would have been disappointed if this wasn't expanded on but it was. This is so well written, as with all of Kora's books. The pace was perfect throughout the book, with great character building. The level of knowledge Shibari and subspace is just beautiful. There is an incredible rope/suspension scene, which honestly had me panting for more and more. The way it's written, I felt like I was intruding in an intimate moment of two lovers.
I was grateful to receive an ARC copy and this is my honest feedback.
How there are some who read who don’t know and love anything by Kora Knight baffles me. Kora’s distinct voice shines again in Claimed. No one maps the journey of self-doubt and the delicate balance of burgeoning relationships the way Knight does. Another sensually, romantic hit from this one-click author.
Kai has been hurt badly by a cruel betrayal. When and if he gives into love, this stoic dojo grandmaster gives all of himself. Unfortunately for him, his heart and soul thinks he wants the cocky, magnetic college basketball star, Breck Harland.
Surrounded by expectations both on and off the court, rising star, Breck harbors a secret that would shatter the image he’s worked so hard to build. Who would believe the king of the court, flooded by eager women and alcohol every night, would fall for the antagonistic martial arts instructor who challenges him at every turn?
Claimed is a sensual journey and joining of two wounded souls battling their pasts and even their cosmic yearning for each other. A beautiful portrayal of shibari, romantic dom/sub need fulfillment, and how the power of love can make the most resolute search their souls.
Hypnotic, tender, sensual, charming, consuming—it just doesn’t get any better than this. Kora Knight knows love and always delivers.
I liked this one more than part 1. Kai and Breck are both likeable characters who clearly have a lot of chemistry. Kora Knight certainly knows how to write and her characters are always likeable. In this second instalment of the duet we get to see both Breck and Kai acknowledge their attraction , albeit with a lot of inner conflict. Unlike with the other books in this universe this story has significantly less sexual content, I’d hasten to say that it falls more into the romance than the erotica category, however whilst happy with this pairings conclusion, I felt that some level of depth was missing from their story to be comparable with Max/Sean or Tad/Scott which both have fantastic stories.
I didn’t love it but I definitely enjoyed it and am always keen to see what else this author has in work.
To say I couldn’t get enough of this book would be an understatement.
It definitely felt like pulling the strings of all of Breck’s problems and dealing with them. And my gods, the shibari. I’m obsessed. I’m also just obsessed with Kai. I adore him. And I love how his heritage is a part of him, just making him even more beautiful.
Gah. I already miss them. And I need to know about Ned and his lady friend. I have a theory.
And of course, now I also miss Tad and Scott again.
I remember specifically saying I need the best life for Kai. I absolutely adore this character. I also recall really, really disliking Breck in book 1, but hoping for the best and that book 2 would deliver.
I am happy to announce that it delivered. I personally love the double karmic clearing, or story clearing if you will, of both Kai AND Breck's parents.
This story gave you a better understanding of Breck, and why he was a certain way. I also feel Kora has been on, perhaps, a personal journey herself? It is coming showing up in the pages.
The self-realization that comes through the character, Breck, and at such a young age is wonderful. The deep intimacy's that she is portraying through them, it seems next level. Like you can feel soul-convergence (is that even a thing? it should be).
A lot of people reading this may not understand what I am about to say, but that's OK... The next level I referred to feeling before, is almost like a higher dimension, or state. As in, there are soulmates, but then there is something MORE. I personally hate the word/saying twin flame, but that's sort of what this feels like. Like the convergence of 2 polarizing energies becoming one and unifying, both within themselves and together. What a wonderful thing to be able to portray through words.
I had a crush on Ned in the last book and 100% nothing has changed on that front. I really hope he gets a story, and I would totally read it even if its het :)
**please note that this is part two of a duology, and you should read Tamed first** Kora Knight is an author who knows how to write tension and steam - and the conclusion to Breck & Kai’s story was no exception!
Where the first book was mainly foreplay this book brought out all the steam and hotness! This part of their story was so much more intense and explosive as they were trying to figure out their attraction to each other.
I have so much love for these characters, their chemistry was definitely off the charts and there was some delicious tension as well. Kai was just the perfect combination of mysterious and hot, while Breck was more of the impatient frat boy, but despite their differences, they just worked so well together. The scenes with Breck in Kai’s ropes were just amazing.
The plot was engaging and both Breck and Kai’s struggles felt realistic. I liked that their story wasn’t all straight forward but had it’s more angsty moments. Definitely made for an interesting read and I didn’t want to put the book down!
I really liked this duology and if you’re into steamy bdsm books with some angst to them I totally recommend these books! For a little more context you might want to read the Upending Tad series first, but I wouldn’t say that it’s necessary. (But seriously, that series is filthy hot and you’re missing out if you haven’t read it yet.)
Lord have I been waiting for this, the final book to Breck and Kai, it was so worth the wait and it was perfect for them.
This part of their story was so much more intense than the first, it had much more emotion and depth to their characters and relationship. I loved that we got to know Kai so much better, and to see Breck mature so much through the story.
When I think over the last book to this one, I would say the first one is pure foreplay, and this second book is a release of epic proportions. I cannot praise it enough.
I must say the steamy sex scenes were AMAZING!! I was melting and almost in a haze reading it. Kora clearly knows about these kinks and I am down for it. The sex scenes weren’t rushed, it made it feel so much more intimate and real, and as a reader it felt like you were part of that hot experience. It was off the charts.
The chemistry these guys have oozes off the page, it’s written so well. The plot was great, not all plain sailing but it was great to see those challenges. What a fabulous journey we have been taken on. Can hardly believe these are the same guys from the first book. That ending was pure magic and I am really going to miss these two.
Kira Knight’s ‘ Claimed’ book 2 of Courtside King Duology, is Breck and Kai’s final coming to grips on the status of their Dom/Sub situation.
The whole atmosphere throughout their relationship gave good vibes, they had super supportive friends on both sides and they surely needed them.
Kai certainly needed his friend Scott (Tad’s boyfriend) to give him a push and realise he had his own blinkers on regarding his past relationship.
Breck had such worries over his parents, the NBA and his own Frat house friends. In the end it took some real scary moments to get him to cop on to his crazy drinking, partying and indiscriminate hookups, lifestyle.
To be honest, I think ‘Claimed’ could have lost a few chapters without losing any story integrity. Never have I read so many pages devoted to a single specific steamy scene, I was exhausted trying to imagine the placement of ropes, pulleys and carabiners and their function. 🔥💥🧨😱
Thankfully both Breck and Kai ‘saw the light’ before it was too late. I’d love to have seen a picture of the model for Kai’s character, my ‘dream man’.
Loved Korea Knight’s series involving, from the beginning, Scott and Tad, then Max and Sean, and finally, Kai and Breck. They were all wonderfully supported by their Frat Boys and Basketball Team buddies.
Great series that had my heart rate spiralling off page so many times I had to stop and recover.🫣🤭🥵🥹😅
Buckle up people, you are in for one smoking hot ride...
Let your imagination loose, those Shibari scenes will blow your mind.
The journey Kora Knight took me on was intense, incredible and insatiable. In book 2 of Kai and Breck's story we find out if the grounded and wise grand master can tame the overconfident and famous frat boy, oh boy...
The connection between Kai and Breck was excessive yet exquisite. Breck's submission to Kai under his care and talented hands was a wonder to behold, the cocky king of his domain was brought to his knees, literally and figuratively.
" He loved being the sole and utter focal point of Kai's attention while being tied up, he loved nothing more than his undivided attention on his body ".
Just when you thought their problems were over Breck would return to his stupid lifestyle and lose Kai's trust again and again. It's going to take something big to make Breck take stock of his behaviour, or will Kai finally have enough and walk away.
This story is pretty heavy in Shibari, the bondage rope play in all of it's intricacy is a beauty to read. It feels like the author did lots of research in this Japanese art form, as she certainly took my breath away, yet again. Another fulfilling and fabulous story.
Bella conclusione. Bella dilogia! Hugs&kisses
Wow! Talking about hot! Good lord! Kai and Breck know how to play!!! These two have one heck of a mind, body, soul and heart connection! I'm so happy they were able to work out their issues and Breck was able to let go and truly feel and give in to what he truly wanted, and Kai helped him see things clearly. Omg my heart was pulled through the ringers in this one too. Kora knows how to write a story that's for sure! I have cried, laughed, swooned, got mad, fell in love, sweat, worried, had a panic and an anxiety attack, lol I've had one heck of an emotional ride reading this series and I have absolutely loved every single bit of it! I'm going to miss this bunch of guys, even Breck and Tads friends because they are flipping hilarious!!!! Pretty sure I’m going to go reread Tad and Scott’s story lol!!!
Kora can do no wrong. When I tell you the book hangover I have after reading Claimed. I’m still thinking about the first 20% of the book and fanning myself. It’s been awhile and we jump right back into it with Breck and Kai as if no time has passed. Is there angst and a back an forth? Yes? Will they or won’t they? It wouldn’t be a Kora book without some groveling and driving in the rain. Overall I loved the development of Breck and Kai’s relationship and the growth they go through to reach their HEA. 5/5 would read again, buy a physical copy and make all my friends read it.
Claimed is the second book in The Courtside King Duology. This story sucked me in and did not let go!!! Kai and Breck have insane chemistry, pure fire. They had a lot of challenges to get past in order to be together. Breck is fearful about being bi, he’s worked so hard and believes that it would destroy his career before it even starts. Kai is amazing! I loved that Kai wouldn’t put up with anything. He knew his worth! This was overall, a fantastic read!!
Could I give this book more than 5 stars please????? This book made me laugh, cry, grind my teeth and oh so h**ny. So spicy, especially after the slow burn of book 1, it was like I was edging all the time and this book gave me that big release. It’s so refreshing to read a book that genuinely reflected the turmoil of internalized pressure and how tightly wound it could make you and of course the cheer blissful release of being lovingly bound. Amazing!!!
