When Mo Archer got home and was headed for his house he saw someone in the window that did not belong in the house. Afraid that his daughter was in the house he rushed in to see the burglar rushing toward the front of the house where the front doors were. The busted lip was not the only thing that Mo got for his attempt to stop the intruder. The larger thing Mo got was an intense mystery that started before Mo was even born.
Chris Lofts newest novel Restitution is a suspenseful book about what could easily be a true to life happening in today's time frame. As it has been documented numerous times, it is known that during WWII, Hitler had many art objects stolen/taken from their owners, mostly from Jews. Has this happened to a family that Mo and his family know for years? Along with the disappearance of his father and concern for the safety of his daughter, this is what Mo must figure out.
Add to this, a family of art dealers that seem to be great in finding lost art, and selling them, at outrageous prices, for the unnamed owners and a mystery of possibly art forgeries. When you put all of this together you have a great read that will keep you wanting to read even after it is way past the time you should be going to sleep (as it was for me more than once).
Restitution will keep you trying to figure out how everything flows together, and who are all of the bad guys. There are a few twist that you may not see coming and a few things that will make you smile. Chris once again shows that he is an author that you will want to keep on your writers list.
