The Silver Chalice: An Unholy Regency Gothic Novella

Rate this book
Unspeakable crimes, terrible secrets, and restless spirits are determined to rip star-crossed lovers apart in this wicked gothic novel. Gabriel has been drawn back to his ancestral home to take up his position as patriarch of his father's estate. He is determined to marry his lovely cousin, the beautiful, kind, haunted Eve. How much would you surrender to marry the one you love? What taboos would you violate? Who would you kill?

This long novella is a great read, and it's a story you will never forget, by the author of Ruined!, Pirate's Desire, Acheron's Gate, Hysteria, and The Warlord's Demise, popular dark romances with strong characters who earn their happily ever after.

I am embarassed that I read this, the second from this author. Her titles do not lie. I gave it a 2 star because it did read fast and her writing is descriptive and the story moves the reader along. that being said...
This was wicked, but in a uncomfortable, breaking all of social norms kind of way. Taboo subject matter. I got it for free off of Kindle Unlimited, the description was misleading I think
Would definately be a trigger for many due to the incest related topic. It was based inthe 1800's I think. I can't even describe the characters or the plot without giving away too much. I read the whole story, but I was uncomfortable. I spent a lot of time trying to figure the two leads, Gabriel and Eve, actual familial relationship. Really too close for a relationship by most standards. Lots of mystery and unanswered questions about the evil awful grandfather and his history with all the women in his line. I did like the paranormal addition at the end.
Once again I also found some editing mistakes. The most glaring being the age difference between Gabriel and his beloved Eve.
It was a fast read, I think shorter than normal like a novella,or a short story.
I am still a little icked out about the story line. The author did add some explanations at the end which sorta helped. Many families back 100's of years ago married family members, often with awful genetic results.
