While it might appear to be a bold statement, it is reasonable to conclude that all of the major components that occur during a Near-Death Experience have already been revealed; from the initial out-of-body experience - to the NDEr being told, “It is not your time. You must go back.” Most who have had an NDE describe this otherworldly realm as heaven. And heaven, if it is real, would not likely change over time. So, is there more to learn about this phenomenon?
In Crossover Experience, our trio of researchers focus on the fine details that are often overshadowed by these events. And it is here they found a treasure-trove of clues and qualities that reveal much more of the contours, depth and messaging found within a Near-Death Experience. What they also found, to their surprise - that it is often in what we don’t see in an NDE that we gain the greatest insight.
Join us as we take you on a wondrous journey through 200 of the most exceptional Near-Death Experiences on record, in search of a deeper, more expansive understanding of what the NDE is trying to communicate to us all. That we are much more than the physical, material world we see around us. We are much more than our bodies. Death is not an end to our being, it is merely a transition into a different, more expansive existence.

An intriguing and thought-provoking exploration of Near Death Experiences (NDEs) taken from thousands of case studies across the globe. Each section presents a curated selection of NDEs focusing on one aspect of the experience, followed by commentary by the authors who are, respectively, a quantum physicist, a cardiologist, and a leading authority on NDEs in (primarily) indeginous cultures.
Studies on NDEs aren’t new, but this book goes one step further, providing the reason behind the upticks in reported NDEs in the last 50 years (advances in resuscitation techniques) and focusing on the details of individual experiences.
While almost all NDEers had similar experiences, such as a feeling of unconditional love and acceptance, there were many cultural differences that I found fascinating. For example, the afterlife seems to conform to the cultural and societal expectations of the individual. Which simply means that an indigenious tribes person is not going to arrive and see a bustling city, while a New Yorker will not see an African Savannah. The individuals encountered during an NDE also seem to be presented in a way that is most comforting to the NDEer. Many reported seeing deceased loved ones that took on a human form, although the general consensus is that souls do not have a human form in the afterlife. That they are, rather, interconnected beings of light.
According to many NDEers, they received knowledge of all things, but most of this knowledge was erased once they returned to their human form. One thing that was not forgotten is that time is a human construct - which on some level I already understood but still find it difficult to wrap my head around. Also, that our souls go through many lives on earth. I firmly believe in reincarnation. As an Evolutionary Astrology student, that belief comes with the territory. But even skeptics who returned after an NDE recognized this truth. Most were anxious to return “home” and many experienced great transformations in their lives and careers after their return.
There was one very surprising chapter in this book for me. I’ve long believed that hell is a Christian construct, but there were several cases presented where an NDE experience was negative and frightening, fitting many descriptions of hell. Personally, I think that might have been a warning that their lives were either off-track or they didn’t have a foundation of faith or spiritual belief before the event. However, that’s simply my interpretation.
If you have any interest in the afterlife or NDEs, I strongly suggest giving this book a read. It’s not really that long - the last 20% comprises sources for each chapter and presented NDE case studies (which is great for anyone who wants to go on to further study.) It’s also currently a Kindle Unlimited book, so there’s no excuse to pass it up.
I rated this book four stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you to BookSirens, the author, and 4spStudios for the ARC of this book.
I came to this book not as a skeptic or a believer of what happens after death, I was very neutral. Maybe there's heaven, maybe there's nothing. However, after reading it, I do feel like I believe what I read to an extent. It would be amazing if the life described from near-death-experiencers is real and as wonderful as they've expressed.
I enjoyed reading the cultural and historical perspective and how the different elements discussed in modern times showed up in ancient and indigenous cultures across the world.
I wasn't a fan of the structure though. There were times where I found it to be repetitive, but I also understand that it was to highlight the vast amount of similarities within the different NDEs. Overall, I think this book has actually changed my outlook on not only death, but how actions during this life make a difference in the next and that is a very powerful thing.
This book lists lots of narratives on those that have experienced NDE. Some were basic while others were very interesting. That is a common narrative that suggests there is a spiritual life after death. I found it to be an interesting read.
Real stories from people who have died & come back to tell of their experience. Why are we here? What happens after death? Recommend to anyone who questions the reason for our existence on this planet.
My husband died last November. Unfortunately, a doctor's mistake killed him, and his last minutes were painful. I've read near death experiences before, and I have 3 degrees in Neuroscience...so lots of understanding of how the brain works. I went to read this book for comfort...i wanted to know my husband's pain quit soon after they put him in the ambulance. This book helped me to feel that by the time he had his heart attack from the pulmonary embolism caused by the stupid doctor here...that he was gone, and felt no pain. The information from people who have been through near death experiences really makes it clear how quickly pain is removed...and it give me a little hope in all the darkness without him...
I also enjoyed the three reviewers of these experiences, and them pointing out what is the same and what is different in people's experiences. It's amazing that these NDE are so common throughout the world in spite of all of our differences. That's also hopeful to me. I liked that one reviewer was an atheist, because too many consign this as being part of religious upbringing and training...but others who aren't religious still experience NDEs. I've read all the science babble for and against NDEs and frankly, I don't put a lot of trust in those who try to explain this stuff away via science. Things we thought were true in 1800s are now blown away, and we have so much more to learn about the human body. They recently found a new organ. We are still understanding time and physics...so I expect more information to come out in the future about all of this.
One of the most inspiring and profound books I’ve ever read. Its depth and thoroughness are unmatched, making it nearly impossible to put into words how impactful it truly is.
The extra chapters exploring quantum mechanics were a standout for me, particularly the explanation of quantum entanglement, which added a fascinating scientific perspective to the spiritual concepts. The book is so detailed, yet accessible, weaving together complex ideas in a way that resonates deeply.
What I loved most was how each chapter focused on a specific aspect of near-death experiences (NDEs). The authors gathered a wealth of perspectives, presenting them with collective knowledge and a universal understanding of truth. It’s not just a book about NDEs—it’s a guide to becoming a better person without needing to go through one.
Reading this has completely transformed my view on life and death. It’s a comforting and empowering reminder that there’s nothing to fear about the inevitable. Highly recommend to anyone curious about spirituality, science, or simply seeking personal growth.
…. and given me a spiritual framework to live from. If you are drawn to deep questions about the “meaning of life” and yearn to know what it’s all about, this is a book for you. Read a little every day as if it were a passage from the Bible. I started with “Dying to be Me” by Anita Moorjani (AMAZING book too, my first exposure to NDEs) and then “Journey of Souls”. “The Crossover Experience” is a great complement to those books, and if you have remaining doubts, they will be blown away.
As someone who was revived from clinical death, I have always been interested in Near Death Experiences. I myself do not recall having one. I was only five years old when I drowned.
This was fascinating reading. I am grateful for the compilation of personal testimonies.
I found it informative and encouraging to know I Will see my husband daughter mom dad And brother agin gives me a sense of peace knowing they are happy Sometimes I have conversations with them in My head I guess they are communicating with me Thank you for writing this book I enjoyed it so much
Really enjoyed it. Gives several areas for reflection. I can see how the teaching in the Bible fits, but there definitely has to be areas not addressed for the NDEs to be consistent. I can see how these areas are not denied, but definitely are thought provoking. Great read. I'll be recommending this to friends.
Life on Earth will have sense after you understand life after life
Powerful testimony that will make you understand the purpose of your life while on Earth. You need to read it to try to understand the power of love ,and that love never dies.
Great book with a good systematic exploration of various NDEs. It is certainly a book to read if you are interested in the subject. This book does not disappoint m it gives the many ways people experienced this phenomenon.
As someone who is skeptical of anything beyond the realm of the physical, this was a heart-opening book to read. I finished it having a little more faith that there's something "beyond"...and what more could we really hope for?
I found this to be a great resource - I can go back to passages and find something new or have a fresh thought about it, and I can do this again and again. An exceptional book.
The book starts with a very beautiful, moving and different description of a near death. I thought the book would be filled with more of these; it wasn’t. While it wasn’t what I expected or wanted, it was still well done.
The lessons and insights from this book are reassuring, heartfelt, and impactful. The stories and themes of near death experiences shared in this book put our existence and purpose on Earth back into perspective.
This book, for me, was an overview of some aspects of the NDE experiences that could be compartmentalized were evaluated by shared experiences among a group of people. These are testimonials of people, whom have had NDE experiences.
I have read many NDE books and this one is my favorite. It is amazing to hear all the experiences from real people. Thank you for your work. It’s necessary.
David and I have read a lot about NDE's and this book didn't add much. A lot of it was repetitive. If it had been better edited, it would have been shorter.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It confirmed many things I already believed, such as reincarnation and the many pathways to a loving and forgiving God or spiritual entity.
