I was given the opportunity to read this in LibraryThing's Member Giveaway and this is my honest opinion.

I remember seeing something about this book on tiktok! Lol. I actually saved the video and wrote the book down because the description sounded so unique and interesting. Imagine my surprise when I win it in the member giveaway and I'm able to read it before public release!

But sadly, and unfortunately, my hopes were dashed after reading. The whole idea of a human being sold into an arranged marriage to vampires was so interesting and I expected so much of it. Even knowing that there would be choice of which vampire she married was intriguing. But this was so fast paced and a quick read that you don't actually get to really know the characters. And that's a problem for me.

Princess Kiera Morales could have been a strong character, but she fell flat for me. The vampires of Vampira - King Niles, King Derrick, King Viktor, and Queen Anya - also didn't really stand out either. While I loved who Kiera picks at the end, I just couldn't find myself in love with the union because I didn't really feel like I grasped these characters; there wasn't enough time to flush them out to fall in love with.

There was so much potential with this storyline and I felt let down. I did enjoy Katelyn's style of writing and I would absolutely check out other works from her in the future.

This book was pretty stupid right from the start. Were told right away that the FMC has to marry one of the four monarchs from the neighboring vampire kingdom in order to secure their alliance and end the war. The vampires walk in and the first thing they say is, “welp, vampires don’t do marriage, haven’t for centuries, but for you we’re making an exception.” Uhhh, what?? Why are we doing this archaic song and dance, then? Marriage alliances only work when both cultures agree that marriage… you know… MATTERS. The treaty terms are already super favorable to both parties, so why didn’t they just not include a marriage at all?

Jesus, I was already suspending my disbelief about a vampire kingdom vs human kingdom where vampires need human blood to live… like, if literally ALL food was located in another country, how long would it take you to leave your home country? I’d be packing my bags before the pantry had even run out, to be honest with you.

So yeah, the marriage doesn’t need to happen. The author is super lazy about basic stuff, like, how are formal state dinners served? If you answered anything other than “all courses served at once save for dessert, on a tray, after the guests of honor are waved into a chair by one of the other important guests saying ‘you two can sit over there,’ followed by a 100-man game of ‘let’s all go round the table and introduce ourselves!’” then congratulations! You’re not as wrong as this author is!

We’re living in some kind of bizarro universe where there are arranged marriages, handmaidens and absolute monarchs, but also elevators, smokey eye makeup, and movies. Stop, please. I cannot take anymore.

Oh, the handmaiden just got this job 2 days ago? She’s a seamstress from the random human village they have in Vampire Land (actual name Vampira)? They gave her a “quick rundown” of her duties and unleashed her on the princess? Guess that’s just how they do things ‘round here!

Oh, all of their jousts are death matches? And one of the kings just interrupted one in order to compete? Oops, he just got hit with a lance. Are they gonna fight to the death now? No? They’re gonna stop the match and take him in to surgery to remove the stake from near his heart. Makes sense. Naturally. I’m sure the other contestant will be fine with it.

Oh, and lest you forget this is Vampire Country, they’ve named everything after the letter V! We have that wonderful sturdy metal, viron, which we can purchase with our vollars, perhaps earned from our winnings after betting on a vrestling match. (This is real, these are actually in the book.)

The FMC is told she has to become a vampire. Why? It’s in the treaty. Who put that clause in there? Her dad? Just take it out! The vampire queen immediately reassures her that she doesn’t have to marry any of them or become a vampire if she doesn’t want to. Great! But then the FMC just… doesn’t take her up on the offer. Because of the treaty. The one with binding clauses that no one cares about fulfilling. Just… call your dad, maybe??? Nope! Impossible! Gotta marry and become a vampire because it’s my DUTY to my COUNTRY. But I’m not gonna like it, I tell ya!

There’s a really stupid “connecting over a personal confession” scene, and then a really stupid “walking in on something that looks bad and running away without listening to the explanation” scene, and then a really stupid “you hurt my feelings because I care about you so much” scene all leading up to a lukewarm first kiss scene and eventual milquetoast marriage. The End. Ugh.

In order to stop the kidnapping of her people and bring an alliance between her people and the vampires, Princess Kiera agrees to marry one of The Four royals/rulers from Vampira. She and her father go to Vampira where they meet The Four. Kiera has 30 days to choose to marry either King Niles, King Derrick, King Viktor, or Queen Anya.

Derrick didn't seem interested at all and Anya was more a friend than anything else. She really only had to choose between Derrick and Viktor and I liked watching them vie for her attention. I liked who she ended up picking and how the book ended. I thought it was quite fun and romantic.

But getting to know them and this new vampire culture was quite a shock to Kiera since she was a human. There were a few customs that did seem a bit over the top and I can understand why she was having second thoughts there for a while. I really felt bad that as a princess, Kiera really had no say in her own life. She was only there to make deals with other factions and marry someone to form an alliance. I'm just glad that in this case she has a choice to choose someone that was nice and ended up being a great guy.

I found this book through some random page on my Tiktok FYP. I never learn my lesson. The concept of this book is very interesting, and if it were maybe a little more developed and less wattpad-y then it could be a great story! Unfortunately, it isn’t.

I enjoyed the plot and the characters but I wish I had more background. It just wasn’t long enough for me! 🖤

Princess Kiera is to marry one of the Four from the Vampira kingdom in order to form an alliance with the humans. She gets to spend one month getting to know each of them but has to make a very hard decision by choosing one at the end.

This was a good, quick (less than 200 pages) read. I’d recommend for those who like vampires and romance books. This book combines vampires, humans and romance.

The writing style wasn’t for me. While the plot was an interesting concept, I didn’t feel compelled to read the book. I also didn’t really like Kiera at all.

I want to start off by saying that I think this author has the bones for an amazing and intriguing story. However, 115 pages is just not enough to be able to develop a story like this. At times, I felt like I had whiplash trying to follow the main character's thinking process and decision making. What Kiera did absolutely made sense, but there was not nearly enough description about WHY she made the choices she did. I wanted to be able to feel and understand the internal conflict that she was having when she felt terrified to be in Vampira, but also wanting to uphold her duties as a princess. It felt like one chapter she was terrified and the next she wasn't, but there was very little description as to how that shift occurred.

Because of the short length and the fast pace of the writing, I felt like Kiera, as well as The Four, had very little character development. I am SO intrigued by these characters and want to know so much more than what I was left with. I want to know more about this fantasy world, how the different kingdoms operate (their belief systems, politics, etc.) Those things don't need to be core to the story, but it would help better understand the characters (especially The Four).

Further development would also help understand areas of the story that seemed to be conflicting. An example of this being that the Vampires were said to not believe (or prioritize) marriage, but by the end the person Kiera choose seems to want nothing BUT marriage with Kiera. It is details like this that I leave me asking WHY, WHY, WHY?! I just want to know why characters are doing what they are doing.

This is a book that I truly feel could be amazing if it were 2-3x longer and there was much more time to describe the characters and plot.

The Arrangement . . .

Princess Kiera is being prepared for her arranged marriage, but she does get to choose which of the four rulers in the vampire kingdom of Vampira she wants to marry. One of the early comments she makes about a painting that looked like it was painted in blood was that it was “gross” and she had heard countless horror stories about vampires. Her father had her wear a black dress to honor their culture but intended to show lots of skin! (He sounded more like her pimp than her father.) One of her choices is female (and I wondered about heirs). Is that also their custom? Or didn’t it matter? It sounded like she was an offering so the vampires would stop kidnapping the Zayn Kingdom’s people for food! Why would they trust that would work? And her father assures her he would not have arranged the marriage if he didn’t think it was safe! Uh, what does he base that thought on? When the vampires entered, she met Anya, Derrick, Niles, and Viktor, all of them gorgeous. Now she has one month to choose one.

Princess Kiera sounded totally naïve about her situation. She knew all along her marriage would be arranged, so I don’t know why she would expect to necessarily get to marry for love. And she has to decide who is the best of the four, some possibly not telling the whole truth and just hoping to impress her. But whatever her choice, is she aware that it is for all eternity? And is she aware that she may be providing their sustenance? Who will she choose? It left me with many questions.

When I saw the cover of this book, I immediately wanted to read it and asked for an ARC.

Princess Kira is a plucky, naive teenager who is forced into a political marriage by her loving father. She has to chose to marry one of four vampires of the vampire kingdom, of which her own kingdom has been at strife with.

Kira is likable and sweet who wishes harm on nobody. She gets to know the vampire rulers and the new kingdom. She dances around a bit with her potential fiancés and two float to the top and after some dating, she knows who it is and takes the bull by the horns. I like how Kira is very forthright and there are no secrets or backstabbing in this book. Very little relationship tension, which I appreciate.

I did have some problems with the worldbuilding. First, one of the Four is a woman and Kira doesn't blink an eye. I wasn't sure if she was bisexual, everyone is bisexual, or political marriages didn't care about gender and love/sexual relations weren't even a consideration. Also, the tech level had me confused. There are helicopters and elevators, but she can't call her father on a phone? Also, some of the Four I got confused on who was who and what everyone looked like. But certain personalities certainly came through strongly. I think the story would have benefited with a bit more flushing out of the world and characters. But if you're looking for a sweet cozy romance with dashing vampires and positive heroines, this is a perfect story for you.

This book comes to me as a solid 3.5 stars. I’m rating 4 because I don’t want to rate 3.

The writing was easy going and easy to read.

I had high expectations for the book, that story sounded so good. I was sold on what the story was but I was expecting more drama, I was expecting more exciting events or some sort of spontaneity to keep me interested. I kept reading through chapters hoping that I would find more things to enjoy about the book.

But to be honest I just feel like it lacked emotional depth for me. The story is there, the bones are there, it has all the makings of a great book and story. I found myself left with more questions than answers, and every page or two I found myself questioning the main character's line of thought.

I think that the variety of characters was a nice touch, and I liked the short chapters. It’s fairly easy to read, and you can finish quickly. Sadly it fell flat for me.

I think this book is great for people who like easy going romance and vampires. I was hoping it was for me, but I don’t think I’m the target audience after reading it.

I recommend this book if you are A vampire lover, who enjoys minor conflicts and happy endings.

I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed by this book. For starters, the storyline had potential but fell flat. There was no drama or highs and lows to keep the reader interested. Honestly, I’ve read many of the exact same basic.. princess goes to vampire kingdom to marry. She has to choose. Gets to know them. Falls in “love” after only a few days, and marries.. boring stories on Wattpad.
Added to the problem of a basic storyline in the multiple glaring issues that even 5 mins. of basis research could have prevented. Prime example.. Titles..If writing about royalty, get your titles right. A king or queen in “your majesty”, a prince or princess is “your royal highness or highness”, a Duke is “your grace”.
The fact that this princess is called all three at inappropriate points just smacks of laziness.
I honestly hate having to give bad reviews, but in this case I’m left with no choice.

Princess Keira must marry one of the four rulers of Vampira in order to create an alliance between their kingdom and her own.
There is one massive part of this she doesn't seem to know which causes her fear and has her considering her escape.
She changes her mind when two of the Kings seem to capture her affection.
She has one month to choose which King she will be with for eternity but love must be a part of this.

I adored this story with its intriguing plot and forever choices.
I loved Keira's decision towards an obvious love which she wanted to leave intact.
I hated that her father kinda tricked her into this alliance by not telling her the most important part of it.
This had so much emotion and I loved that a certain male character didn't mind about showing his joy in tear form.
This was perfection in words which filled my night with delight.

The Four by Katelyn Young is a New Adult fantasy novella about vampires, arranged marriage, and sweet romance. The premise of this book had me hooked before I ever read it: A princess must marry one of four ruling vampires to ensure peace in her kingdom.

The story starts with Princess Keira meeting her fiancés, but when she learns one devastating piece of news her father never told her, she considers escape. That is until she learns more about two of her intended and becomes infatuated with both. When one of those relationships turns to love, she changes her mind.

I would have loved a bit more build-up in the relationships, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the novella. If you like fast-paced stories with a bit of intrigue, plenty of blood sucking, and sweet romance, then you will love The Four.

The premise and plot is interesting. The pacing is fast and kept me turning the pages. I wish the character had a bit more depth to them but overall they were intriguing enough to keep reading about. The romance is sweet between Kiera and her vampires. I would be willing to read more from this author.

I found it a good romance but massive plot holes 😂 given the tiered kingdom and the fact the court doesn’t leave the palace the whole reason for her being married off to the kingdom is moot…it’s not going to stop the theft of people.
If you know you know.
