This book was very inspirational. I love the following quote:
"I was always so afraid to speak with my mother about anything and this is something no child should have to live with"
It's filled with detailed chapters about controlling your anger. It describes anger issues in general, not just relative to bringing up children, but being a parent is brilliantly intertwined with controlling anger.
What better way to have a self help book but one based on the author's own experience?
A child makes mistakes, it's their way of learning but the response they receive from parents moulds their future and the negative replicated behaviour. Sharing personal childhood experiences, memories and feelings, this author has put together this fantastic book which looks at patenting as a whole. It gives factual advise about anger in several guises, cause and effect on how your behaviour influences child behaviour and the vicious circle that can ensue. It gives a great insight into child development and a step by step analysis and guide to improve parenting with useful links for groups and classes. It's a tough job but to become a loving, caring parent but it costs nothing and we all have it in us. Great inspiring read, certainly makes you think... And want to improve! Great job, strongly recommended.
Aimed at parents but, in the modern world of 'free child care' the book could well be aimed also at grandparents who have been through it once, and are having a second course.
Using personal experience and deep explanations, the author takes us through various scenarios that we will maybe recognise in ourselves, not all the time but you may think “there was that time when…”
I think if a prospective reader thought, "well I don't have anger issues, I just get upset now and again," they may like to read this book and even rid themselves of the now-and-again, upset.
As all parents know, it’s difficult to raise kids, especially when there’s a lack of sleep and you have to juggle a job at the same time. This book will teach you to control the anger and the yelling to gain more control, resulting in healthier parenting and happier children.
The author speaks out ways to express anger and let it go but tells us to avoid expressing in front of children and encourages us to build healthy relationships with children.
