Journey far and away with our twenty-three mini escapes. These snack-sized tales are the perfect length for reading during a coffee break, between classes, waiting in line at the grocery store, or any time you need a pocket story to jump into. In these pages you’ll meet dragons and pukas, fairies and monsters, mermaids and toy dinosaurs, and men and women who are anything but ordinary. You’ll be taken to magical kingdoms shrouded in mist, floating gardens, a time machine lab, peril on the high seas, sprawling fields in the Dakotas, and much, much more.
S. R. Nulton has a love of fairy tales, paddle boarding, and puns. In addition to writing, she has a degree in music from Cal Poly. In addition to being a total homebody, she is a voracious reader, descent line dancer, and a chocolate enthusiast. Her family collects people that share the same name, so she goes by Sarah Rose to avoid confusion. Do not confuse her with the other Sarahs. They are numerous. Lastly, she feels weird writing about herself in the third person. Therefore, Vin decided to spruce up Sarah Rose’s bio and agrees that it is strange to write about someone like this.
This is a wonderfully imaginative and thought-provoking collection of stories from an extremely talented group of aspiring authors! I'll be watching for more work from each of them!
Is there ever a time when you just want to read but you don’t have time to read a lengthy book? Like while in the waiting room at a doctor’s or dentist’s office. You want to read, but you won’t have time to get lost in a story like you really want to. But you really want to read instead of staring at the walls. And people give you nasty looks when you stare at them for too long. So, that is the perfect time to pull up this book. When you have a little time, but not too much. And you just want to read something. These are flash fiction. And what that means that that not only are they short stories, but they are extremely short stories. You can read them in a flash. Each only takes a few minutes to maybe about fifteen, depending on your reading speed and the length of the story. My favorite two stories are Floating Garden by E.L. Frost and The Notebook by S.R. Nulton. There are others that I thought would make a good beginning to a larger story. I know that The Notebook is a little hint of the author’s larger Refurbished Fairy Tales series, but you don’t have to read the series to enjoy the story or understand it. It’s just a little glimpse of her larger world and a hint of a future book. I’m not sure how many of the other stories are that way. But I enjoyed reading these and hope that you will too.
